I plan to spend a nice day with my wife doing stuff ...going to movies and just having a fun day i guess....i would have gone to a party with her today but im kind of ill...i hope that what ever is in my gets out of me soon so i can enjoy my birthday then go back to studying my ass off for my math midterm and another organic chemistry exam...lovely lovely exams....kill me know please lol.

Im trying to put together a new computer since my old one is pretty much dead! Using my wife's laptop is difficult since she needs it, so i cant just leave something rendering for a week. I would have my pc built in a week but blasted NewEgg is taking forever to process my order!

I am also working on a few tutorials to demonstrate rendering. I figure i get asked enough times how to render stuff or how i render stuff that i might as well show everyone in a video tutorial since i tend to somes times confuse people when its a written tutorial, which just leads me to try and teach then via online chat. Granted i do not hate guiding people on how to do stuff and i love to answer questions and respond to comments! its just that when my tutorials tend to confuse like 20 or 30 people...its a sign that im just not good at written explanations of procedural concepts.

So....I have been away for along time...

But now that things are settling down I hope to come back with some art every-once in a while. Granted my posts will not be as common as they used to be. I'm taking classes at Harvard's Extension school and well... those classes may kick my ass and leave me crying like a baby on the floor!

I still have to fix my Desktop ...since its my art station. I think the poor ol thing has rendered its last polygon. I really cant do much art on this macbook since i really dont have the same tools that i had on my desktop, or the rendering power. Its really funny...my 5 year old broken computer can render about 75% faster than this like 2 year old macbook ....and they have the same amount of ram but this macbook has a better processor. I wonder if the problem is a heat issue for speed of rendering?

After that trip I have to prepare for my move to Boston Massachusetts here in the USA. Some of you who read my journal and who talk to me in chat rooms know that I have been stuck not knowing if I would be moving to California or Boston for my wife's law school. Well I FINALY know that we are going to move to Boston and join a little school and some may or may not know about, Harvard!

If anyone knows of any great things to do in Germany please feel free email me or post on my journal since the trips plans are still in flux. If anyone knows of a great place to rent in Boston PLEASE let me know since that my next BIG project for the summer... I have to find housing near Harvard for a family of 4 (two people and two 50-60 lbs dogs).

I've finally fallen victim to the Facebook game. I had successfully ignored/found no interest in facebook untill now. I joined Mafia Wars on Facebook to help out a friend since i was told all I had to do was join. An frankly if someone tells me that all i have to do to help them is join a game i probably will join the game just to help them. I dont like to join a game have to play billions of hours in order to help them.

Well my problem started after i joined i randomly looked around at what I thought would be a boring game...and then I was infected by the game.... I can stop playing it but its like Email... I have to check in every so often to see whats changed in my world.

So with that out of the way I'm moving on to creating some web pages/revamping current ones and finding my self a cheap 3d printer! I really want to print out some of my 3d characters and creatures that I have created! I've been looking around at some companies 3d printers and its really shocking that the technology has really not advanced much and the cost has remain the same for so long! Hopefully I'll be able to find a 3d printer that is used for cheap or find a tutorial to build my self a semi decent 3d printer!

If anyone knows of a place or a person who has a really cheap 3d printer or has tutorials on on please drop me a line!

I never thought I would be saying this but... this year I really regret taking classes! It has prevented me from spending time and going on adventures with those I love. But at least something good has come out of this year... I am more educated that last year and I have been able to learn lots about my self and my limitations, some that are my fault and others that are not.

Umm I will be posting art work again just as soon as im done with my finals... I dont like to split up my attention too much before my finals. I'll be printing out my Pip-Boy 3000 soon to see if I can put it together properly! Maybe i can get a few hidden sales out of that to fun some food.

OH! ill be working on some stereogram images! At leats i think thats what they are called... you know the images that have like lots of patterns but if you stare at it long enough you end up seeing something in the image. I used to not be able to see anything in them untill earlier this year after seeing BOLT the movie in 3d ...ill explain that in a later journal.

I have finished a few art pieces but I haven't had time or I have been to lazy to upload them...I'll be fixing that problem once winter break starts up for me on the 19th.

On some major news in my household my wife and I will be taking a trip to MA,and near by states, to see some little unimportant schools such as Harvard, Yale, Columbia U,ect... well mostly looking at the Law schools. I greatly envy my wife for being so smart and so hardworking that she has a good to great chance of getting into these schools! When it comes to law schools so many of them have been mailing us junk every week,some of them sending like 4 things a week. When we took a road trip to see Mich U (their law school is ranked 9th) people we spoke to there told us that there was no way that my wife would go to Mich U because she was too smart and other schools in the top 5 is where she belonged.


Any who....its also time for me to start thinking about building my own pc.... My poor Dell is old...and she cant render as quickly as these new pcs... I think im just going to wait and save up some money to build my own pc and if my current one stays alive ill keep it around as a back up...or render slave...

So I know that I have not been submitting lots of work into DA and well the reasons for that have been too many quizes and tests and other personal problems I have had to deal with, that and I got distracted by playing Bioshock again.

For those of you who wanted to commission me for work ..... sorry that I did not reply! I normally check my DA page everyday but these last two weeks have been a little difficult on me. If anyone wants to commission me for work E-mail me! We can discuss pricing and everything else via E-mail! (don't worry I'm very reasonable when it comes to pricing, and many times we can do art trades)

Well I'm still here on DA! I've just been really busy trying to catch up on school work, I feel kind of overwhelmed at the moment. I've been busy trying to figure out how to fund the next semester of school or preferably the next few years of school. I've also been busy trying to secure employment that pays well and is flexible for school, like something as sweet as that is ever going to happen.
I'll probably give up on finding a good paying job in a week and I'll start working at a restaurant again and work my self up the ladder like I've done in every other job I have ever had. I really hate working in restaurants but its the fastest place I can secure employment that is flexible while I continue the search for a better paying job.

As for my art... well I'm still working on it. I've been a little overwhelmed by school and its going to take me a little bit of time to get my sea legs. Though I'll probably take 2 or 3 hours tonight to start and maybe finish my 'Real Pokemon' Charmander.

I am still working on my 3d art and on the Real Pokemon Project... its just going to be kind of slow...

So my wife is off to Columbia on a trip with some family so I'm all alone for like two weeks...I guess its ok since I wont have much time out side of work...

The process was supposed to be simple... I bring in a immage of what we want on the cake and they use their computer to print it out on rice paper and they stick it on the cake! Simple right?

Well on the 6th of the month I did bring in the image on a CD-Rom, the image was really large so that they could size it and get the best quality print. What we got at 10 am August 13th was a cake who had the image of the CD-Rom ON IT!!!! They thought it was weird that we would want the CD-Rom ON the cake so they piped on borders around it to make it pretty!!! I was not their or else I would have given them holly hell, or unholly hell....which ever one is more violent.

Luckily they called in the woman that operates the printer since only one person in that entire place knows anything about computers...my wife talked to her and she said that she originally wanted to look inside the disk and see if there was an image there...but for some reason she listened to everyone else who does not know anything about computers and agreed that they where right ....they though that we really wanted the cd-rom on the cake....



The cake was fixed and all was good! It was a great day!

I just felt like sharing this semi funny story.

The purpose of this project is to create realistic looking pokemon ... its as simple as that! In the future I may end up using the paintings as a template to create 3d models but for now the main point of the project is to improve my painting skills as well as to create something fun!

So I have already created my first piece for the Real Pokemon Project...

I originally created this account because a friend of mine would comment repeatedly on how I needed to have an account at DA so that I could show my work and get some kind of feedback. Indeed what feed back I have gotten really has helped me figure out what people like and what people dislike.

In my one year here I have met many a person who either really liked my work or hated my work. I remember that the first responses from people in chat rooms where for the most part negative, luckily I met someone on DA who told me that anyone who stated such things where probably jealous since they themselves lacked talent... and thus my ego was fed enough to give me strength to stick around...which is good since the tide turned and I started to meet more nice people than bitchy angry people.

So now...I thank everyone who has watched my art! I thank everyone who has supported me!

I especially thank my wife who puts up with my constant questions about what could make my art better!

So how many of you out there still play board games? Also whats your favorite board game?

For me I love Arkham Horror! It is a game based on H.P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu....its kind of pronounced KU-thul-hoo, i think wiki may have a pronunciation sound bite or something for it if your interested.

I think in a later journal I'll post all the games I have. I do know that before I got married I did not have this many games but now since my wife and I both like to play board games I tend to spend more money on getting games we and our friends can enjoy.

....I already know that for my birthday and Christmas I'll be requesting games....oh I like games so much ^_^ ...

Well the new DA interface looks interesting but it tends to no let me log in at times...so...I may not be able to post work depending on DA's mood that day.

I feel like I'm getting an artist block...maybe I'll open up and take requests or offer commissioned artwork for cheap. I still haven't heard back from a cell phone wall paper company about bundling some of my art peices to sell on one of those "dial 55558 and text i want wallpaper to get 3 dollars worth of wallpaper on your phone" things.

I need to get off my lazy behind and take pictures of people to make formal portraits...I like creating portraits.

what else has happened to me???....um my chemical burn is 95% gone! Well....I think I need to get more aggressive and win contest on DA to get a subscription... Some times Id like to post polls to figure out what I should end up doing for a art piece.

In the process of cleaning I ended up getting some acid on my arm near a mosquito bite. The result was that I ignored the itching for maybe half and hour while I finished some cleaning. It felt like the same kind of itching as a mosquito bite then it started to burn so I looked at my arm to scratch and I saw white bubbles on my skin.

It quickly sunk in that I had a chemical burn. I washed it off and then had to use a special solution to neutralize the acid that was still on my skin...that special solution being milk lol. The chemical burn is about 1.5 inches by 1 inch. The 2nd degree burn section is about 25% of that area in the middle, it was as white as milk which is really odd to see on my bronze arms. I bandaged it so that I would not rub it while I was loading things into Uhaul. On the move over I left it unwrapped and it ended up tanning over in about half an hour.

Recently my wife and I went hiking...the result of that event has left me with no desire to hike the AT... lets just say I had 50+ ticks on my legs and the ones on the back of my knee felt like little needels sticking into me. I'm hopping that the small rash that has appeared on my leg is not an infection as a result of the ticks.

So I am still working on cg things so you will see more from me just not in the next 2 weeks because these 2 projects that I'm working on are really very large, one of which is in the billions of polygons.

I have joined a few friends of mine in St. Louis to create a video game. mind you its not going to be the next OMG-i-cant-stop-playing-it game. Just like every other small game developer out there i wish it would become something that companies would take interest in. Granted that may never happen. i will be placing lots of effort into this project so that it can be the best possible product i can create artistically.

Thus far our crew is a total of 3 people, maybe 4 soon. This is who is up to what thus far but things may and will chance as time goes on.....

1. Theres JC who is pretty much doing all the programming, i guess i could help him a bit in that but honestly this guy is a genius so he really doesn't need my help.
2. Theres C ... he gets to do the dirty work of testing the AI and adjusting it...as well as other important yet semi boring and time consuming tasks.
3. and theres me...duh.... i am creating all the art of this game thus far...meshes, textures....you name it....

yea i'm hopeing we can get #4 that way i can spread some of that art task around. granted i could create ALL the art but then the game would take a VERY VERY long time to finish.

well as time goes on ill be posting more of my art back on DA as well as a few screen shots of this games development. I cant wait until enough of the game is finished that i have to hunt down beta testers!

With that out of the way I am just going to say that yes it is a good movie for an action flick. The fight scenes are great, especially when jet lee and jacki chan use the American kid as a puppet in the middle of a training section. The humor in this movie is about the same you could expect in any movie that jacki chan would be in. The cg was acceptable for todays standards and you can tell they tried to make up for things by having really bright magical auras, if you see the movie I am really referring to the section where the monkey king is released and the energy wave has like 13 screen shots hitting everyone and then 13 more screen shots as it comes back…which I expected it to then go away again and get like seven more minutes of oh look its knocking people over and its so shiny! The plot however is really not complex and in reality the main hero is a flat character, even though he is supposed to be fleshed out and made into a round character by the end of the movie.

What I mean by the main hero being flat is that in the story he gains interest of what his companions do and feel so he asks questions… they hint that he becomes interest in the female character that is with him on his journey, sparrow is her name. Then in a large battle she dies and he is very sad and I believe produces a tear or two. Once the battle is over and good was won the day…the great king returns to earth and the movie enters the lets wrap things up phase…in this section the king tells the main hero that he can pretty much have anything he wants since he did such a great job saving the world from evil….what does this kid as for? Send me home…that’s it….not hey can you resurrect my friend that died and I kind of had a thing for…no…its just…send me home…

All in all it’s a good movie for an action flick! Though I imagine they could not get everything they wanted in the movie since they had to feed the egos of two major stars, jet and Jackie, as well as try to develop a main hero by the end of the movie.

The Government is going to pass a law that says that unless you pay to have your work registered at ALL private registries, that right now do not exit nor is there a limit to how many can exist. Your work can be taken from you and used for free or can be registered by someone who does have the money to register YOUR work into THEIR name.

On Thursday, May 13, there will be a vote to see if this law is going to pass. I am going to follow this story very carefully and if things start to look bad I'm going to simply remove all my work and see what happens before I repost it.

***someone has told me that the May, 13th date is not accurate. When/if i find out about the proper date as well as find the CURRENT version from a Government source, not the 2005 or 2006 version, of the bill i WILL post it.(if someone has the pdf of the new bill send it my way ^_^ )***

Issue 14 of Corel Painter Official Magazine has one of my art pieces in it. It is a painting I created from one of the photos that they provide for the contest. after I edited the photograph I added a boat in the painting. If you want to see my work go to like a Borders or Barns and noble and look up the Corel Painter Magazine. My art piece is located in page 96. They have me down as Ramon Alonzo...instead of Ramon Alvarez....needless to say I'm writing a letter to the editor about that.

I have two thoughts on this matter...

1) DA was going to kill 3d but then they saw that lots of people care so they are using April fools as a scape goat.

2) bakin dose not really know what comedy is so he came up with the best joke he could and lot of angry 3d artists was the result.

I have decided to more or less stay in DA since there are lots of people who like my work and have express the thought that I should stay, which by the way guys it really means a lot to me that you people care!

However...I will be looking for a 3d community to join that is located outside of DA since its best to be prepared for the event that someone does decide to gut the 3d community here. I'll have links to the other community(s) I join for those of you who may be interested in looking at my work.

On a side note....my problem with flash 9 not working at all on my computer seems to have randomly fixed it self.....I swear that machines are capable of emotions....but for the most part they can only feel hate....

It's very sad since I was starting to think of this community as my art home but I don't think I can put up with a community that just decides to relieve themselves on a section of art media that is just as powerful if not more than the traditional art mediums used by the great art masters.

So I go over to the Pepper Project deviant account to look for her piece since she didn't have a link to it and whats the fist thing I see under "Recent Deviations" in the Pepper Project page? TWO OF MY ART PIECES!!!!

So I was very exited, and still am, so I quickly went through all the pages of submitted work to see how many where up in the Pepper Project gallery and to my surprise out of the five I created three got in! Granted when I look at my work and look at what other people did I feel insignificant and stupid...but I'm still happy that they like my work ^_^.

A major project I'm trying to start is to work with some engineering students in Washington University. For the most part they would create buildings in Google Sketch Up then I would use Cinema 4d to texture and populate an environment for the model and render it out in high quality. I really should just create my own buildings but I get kind of lazy and just stop half way through the creation of the environment since I used up so much energy in creating the building as well as texturing the building and other objects I stick in it. I figure in this plan I'm only using half the energy that this process needs and it just so happens that thats how much I tend to devote. I figure if they don't want to team up its fine I'll still create room renders and building renders its just going to take a little more time.

I have started two other projects that I'm exited about. One project is to use the new Goomba model I created in a short CG animation, this is a co-op that I'm working out with a few other artists, which if it turns out well I'll post it here in DeviantArt as well as add it to my CG portfolio reel. The second project that I'm working on is to illustrate a book I've always wanted to illustrate, its a personal project but the first few illustrations that I have created pleased me so much that once its compiled I'm going to try and publish it.

Oh everyone should go check out tutorials that a DA friend of mine, , is working on, so far he only has two up but these tutorials should help people get better in the 3d world.

Don't take me wrong I really love this class...its just that this few weeks it had eaten away lots of my time.

I couldn't have mutated it and given it to my self in a period of a week so someone else must have mutated it and given it back to me. Thats it I'm breathing on people... o_o ...I'll spread this little treasure someone gave to me...I'm so tired of being sick -_- ...

In other news I am not going to even try to render out the other four things I had made for the Pepper Project since i only have 3 days till the contest is over and it will take somewhere around 72 hours for one render to be done. Oh well I know that what I made is mostly crap since there are so many other artists here in Deviant Art that produce better works of art but I will still submit it just on the off chance that maybe one of my pieces gets publishes as like background trim or something.

My art work is going to suffer for a little bit because I'm trying to master Adobe After Effects. I'm not sure what I'm doing in art anymore... my work is supposed to get better the more I create... or at least thats how it worked when I was back in high school... hmm I've probably plateaued in skill.

The LSAT is the test that people wanting to get into law school take. That test pretty much determines what law schools you are allowed to go to. So this test makes or breaks many peoples dreams.

With this I am extremely happy to announce that my wife Charlotte Alvarez, I have pictures of her in my gallery, has A PERFECT SCORE.

Though I will say this...I shook his hand and he has a powerful grip, that mans no pencil pusher. I wont talk about the questions people asked since they are private...though I did tape a few minutes of video on my cell phone just because I felt that i should record the event in some way shape or form.

Well....in my Art related news... the model I made for the Pepper Project would not render since I made it, it had problems where once I told it to render body parts would just not be there at all....so after lots of fiddling I managed to make it render yesterday, though its really hack-ish the way I did it. So by the end of today I should have at least one render that I can upload to submit to the Pepper Project.

I really wish I have noticed that Art contest, Pepper Project, earlier. Since then I would have had two months to work on things...but I did not notice the contest until the 11th of February, which led to me staying up for 36-ish hours in order to be able to produce my 3d model of Pepper.

Well thats enough rambling from me for one journal entry!

Well I submitted my art to one contest today, I wont know how I do until March.

I also need to contact another contest about there rules because as far as understand it I give up all my rights of claiming my art work as something I created. Maybe I'm grown but the rules state "the Artist forfeits all rights to the art piece in question that includes but is not limited to: intellectual property rights, moral rights and copyrights". I want to enter the contest so I can try and get some recognition, since I need to expose my self in order for people to see my work, but at the same time if I can't even claim that I created X piece the contest would just be a waste of time for me.

Anyway I'm on the hunt for art contests so if anyone sees once please let me know. ^_^

Umm... My pc is up and running again as some may be able to tell since there has been a small surge in artwork posted in my gallery.

I'm starting designs for a contest that I'm going to enter, the due date for the art work is in April so I have a good chunk of time to make something great!

My dogs are spastic as ever...I think I'll make some kind of painting after each one since they are very unique in personality and a part of my life.

Yes I think that sums up what I have been doing and will be doing for a while. (other than trying to get both my cars to function!)

I'm very exited since I have had all these 3d ideas swimming in my head, attacking my other thoughts and memories since they demand to be let out. Yes I will be creating lots of fractals this year since they are great wallpapers and fun to make! Though I will be crating many 3d pieces as well, so for those of you who like my cg work don't fear there will be more fun stuff for you to look at soon enough!

I have also started doing digital paintings this year so all in all I will be producing many new art work pieces but I wont be pumping them out as quickly since I'm still learning many things in digital paintings.

What did Dell conclude? Well that everything in my system is running as it should be!... So there going to send a technician with a new motherboard and a new hard drive. My guess is that Dell thinks I'm lying to them but just in case I'm not there going to do there job and honor there contract with me.

In conclusion of this chapter of Dealing With Dell all I have to say is that I have already begun to study about how to make your own computer so that I never spend a single penny on Dell or any other computer company.

it just goes to show that "if you want something done right you better do it your self"

im supposed to get a new cd by sunday so i can try to install my os agian and get my pc to work. if it does not work im going to request a replacement since i dont have time to sit for five more hours trying to troubleshoot a computer.

i mean come on i paid out the nose for the best warranty and protection for my pc so that a computer expert could fix it.....and if i were a computer expert i would not have given a single penny to dell but would have instead made my own pc.

I know i can get my pc fixed by Dell if i send it in to them...but that will probably be done by erasing my entire hard disk and starting from the beginning...which if i had burned off my art like ive always told my self to do every week it would not be that big of a deal.

Sadly in The Great Computer Crash of 2006 i lost almost all my digital work, only a few things i had burned off or emailed to friends had survived. Im still sad that I lost so many things that i had created. Though this event has created a great opportunity for me to create more work faster and efficiently in order to refill the ranks and allow me to see what i am capable of doing.

So my New Years resolution is to post one new art piece every two weeks and at least one Journal post every month. Since currently i post more or less one piece of art every month and one journal post every other Blue Moon.

So i found my self 2 days into winter break here with family wanting to leave family and friends so that i could get back to my desktop. I think that ill probably have to pillage hard disk space on my wifes computer so that when the time comes i can get back to work.

the only problem is that Im a pc person and shes a mac....

When i get back home i need to start making fractal art, since i have recently discovered that my wife actually loves fractal art a great deal. Also i need to do more digital paintings and some character layout sheets, since i like to create cartoony layout sheets. Oh and for my mom i need to make 3d terrains since she saw my 3d terrains here on deviant art and loved them.

Yea i have quite a bit i need to do when i get home in 14 days...but until then....ill gather my friends and we will settle cattan with all the expansions in it....

..... and if thats not enough....risk 2210 time!
