i've been doing lots of meditation as to why i'm not "improving" anymore. and alas, i was searching for answers in the art scene forum where many cool people gave me really good advice. i learned that i forgot to go back to the basics. and i really think we should really really master it even a hundred times. some people suggested that i should do life drawing which is really good as i am slowly absorbing realism....

and yeah. there was one post that really got me. and it was the exact reason why i wasn't improving. the part of my brain that cared for art was sick and tired of 3/4 facing left ladies which i probably have repeated over and over (as you can see in my gallery. i never knew until they told me. honestly). and he was right!

Looking at your gallery, the problem I see is that you’re just not challenging yourself- at all, really. Literally your entire gallery – everything from four years ago to now – is the exact same style (it may have grown more detailed as your skills improve, but the style itself is still basically the same), all of the exact same thing; a headshot, usually in three quarters view (all facing to the left, even) or a pretty young woman. There’s the occasional waist-up shot, maybe three pairs of legs, no feet. There might be a few men in your gallery, but it’s rather difficult to tell, since their faces are about the same as the ladies’, and their bodies are always cropped out of the picture. and also, a good suggestion they gave me was that i should broaden my horizons and not draw in my comfort zone. (which was 3/4 female bust-shot,headshot pieces) and try to draw more elaborate stuff. yeah. i would never improve if i keep on drawing the same 3/4 female bust-shot/headshot pieces.. i should draw more!! expand my horizons... >w<

YEah. It finally died. *sob* it did'nt die literally. but, the stylus got lost. i dont know where it went. and thats why i havent done any arts lately. I was just stuck with good old paper and eraser. and damn. i hate coloring with color pencils. digital coloring is so much easier for me!! hahaa. coz im lazy.

Anyway, i have lots of concepts ready until i get my new one! >w< its almost my birthday anyway! haha! i wish i could get a sub. but, i don't know how to do it in our country. aaak. and i think im gonna get that wacom bamboo tablet thing. its cheap and really dont think im gonna need an ultra fancy intuos one. ( but that sure would be nice!) i really hope i get it for my bday!

Nya! Back to school for me! XD I am quite contented with the section I belong. Just shopped for school supplies. I bought LOTS of sketchpads ^_^. I think my bag is almost full just because of sketchpads! I bought notebooks too. XP

And, I showed my talent to the class! They say I'm really good at drawing. (my digital drawings are way far from matching the ones on my sketchpad.) Anyway, I got to make new friends. I only had a few new classmates.

Hello! I'm an oekaki artist and I just love to draw using oekaki.I sometimes use photoshop but I don't use it that much because I do not have a scanner.I do have painter classic but I don't like it that much because it is hard to draw there.( I'm not used to it) Well, my style is 3/4 anime and 1/4 realistic.I am practicing realism but it is really hard.I think I need to have some art classes.

If anyone wants to ask how I draw in oekaki here is how I do it. ^-^

~ first I sketch in Layer 0 with any color aside from black and white
~ then I clean up my sketch and then add details.
~ then in Layer 1 I ink my art with 1px solid black.(It takes alot of time)
~ after inking in Layer 1, I erase layer 0 and fill it with a neutral color.
~ then for my coloring, I just use the Mask (black) in layer 1 so that when I color and erase the black lines wont be erased.
~ after filling in the basic colors,I use the ReMask tool and pick the color I want to shade. Then I shade my drawings by choosing a darker color and then using 1px solid and the fill tool,.
~ Some times I have many layers of shading but sometimes when I'm very lazy, I just shade my pictures with 2 layers of shading.
~Then for the final touches, I use halftone. Around 105 is my favorite. ^-^

Note: I'm not saying this is the only way to do it! ^-^
