SKI TRIP

The drive down on the saturday night was less than exciting, but was interesting, got to know a few people better just by having someone to talk to the whole time, because everyone was either too excited or too uncomfortable to sleep, seeing as we had about 3 feet from the back of our own chairs to the chair infront, so we had no room at all, and this ended up with many people sleeping cramped, or even in some cases, in the aisles of the busses. But anyway, after an agonizing 22 hour drive we made it to the place where we were staying at Jindabyne (about 2 hours out of Canberra, Australia), and we got our ski hire shit sorted out. Then everyone was fairly psyched so the rest of the day consisted mainly of people running from cabin to cabin and just hanging out with everyone. There was roughly 90 kids that went so we took up a good 15 or so cabins. But after a forced down crappy food dinner, everyone went and watched tv or went to bed. Next morning we got up early and had breakfast and got ready and all that shadizzle, then got on the bus again wearing our ski gear, which makes it more cramped, because the snowboarding boots I had gave me about 2 inches to move around in on the bus. After about 25 minutes of driving up the mountain, I finally got my first glimpse of snow, and not really what i expected to begin with, I had come to perisher blue while it was nearing the end of the snow season, but it was a big shock to see the ground completely covered in snow, to the point where it was almost halfway up the trees. Stepping out of the bus, it also didnt feel as cold as i first anticipated, felt like you'd opened a fridge and were standing infront of it, but all the time, but it wasnt so bad because of the ammount of clothes we were wearing at the time, so it wasn't that bad. First lesson of the day, was a little intimidating, because our instructor started us of on what seemed like a rather large slope at the time, but wasn't as hard as it first seemed, plus we had really good instructors, who helped us out alot, and made it much easier to get going. The first day was more or less just a learning experience based on stopping and basic heel side turning. (I should probably explain here that I was snowboarding and not skiing.) The next day we learn't some basic toe side techniques, and basic turning toe side techniques, but that was about it. It wasn't until the third day where I actually started to get the hang of snowboarding, the whole concept of going from heelside to toeside and turning and stopping, so it was now that I really got going down the slopes, and it's here where you lose all care for anything else in the world, because the feeling of being free, going down the slopes at speed when you have total control of it, is the best feeling in the world. Better than anything else I've ever done in my life. It was made even better because I spent alot of time snowboarding with old and new friends there. Its alot of fun, I reccomend to everyone, who hasn't been to the snow before, to go, its the most fun you'll ever have. The last 2 days spent snowboarding weren't as good, because we had strong winds that was blowing all the powder off the ground, so it was mainly ice, but it was fun none-the-less, because instead of falling over and just stopping straight away, now you would slide for a fair bit, so it was more fun in a way, but on the last day we were there, it snowed close to 40cm's, so we were very lucky that we got to be there on the best day for snowfall for the whole snow season. After getting back on the bus and getting home, we had something like 30 second showers because the teachers that were supervising were being nazi's at the time and wanted to keep schedule by getting everyone on the bus as quickly as possible. But it wasn't as bad as it probably could have been. After that we got back on the bus for another 23 hour ride home, and alot of junkfood along the way. But yeah, that was definetly one of the best experiences of my life, and I'm well looking forward to going again.

Also I went to the Blink 182 concert last night, I wont go too far into detail for the sake of the people who didnt go, who wanted to. But I'd like to just point out some highlights.

Well Boys and Girls, its 7:21pm on Monday night, I have the flu back, but I feel better than ever, I'm actually looking forward to school tomorrow, realised how hopeless I am without being able to talk to my mates, some more than others ( Hidden Meaning ... work it out ) and I'm actually pretty happy at the moment, things are looking up for the first time in a while. I'm going to be going to Stradbroke Island for the first week of the september holidays, staying with an old mate of mine, which will be good because 1. I havent seen him for a long time, and 2. I haven't been to stradbroke in like 8 months, which is a big deal for me, cause I love that place, its so relaxing. On another note, had some good discussions with some of my mates and discovered more layers of friendship that I first thought we had, and I had my first practice with what I hope is my new band, which one of my best mates is the drummer in, and things are looking up with that aswell, so yeah I'm feeling pretty good now haha, ok end psycho euphoria typing spree.
