A couple of the recent D.C. shots got picked up at Onexposure.com, and I'm stoked that they're on display there under the Urban category [my whole page can be viewed here, just click the photo to move forward].

I was thinking today about people, and the myriad various people we come across and forget about so quickly. I wanted to go into great detail here, while I was writing in this very box, but decided I would spare you a giant explosion of text without at least giving you fair warning to escape it. True, while I will admit that most of the time the image has to be conceptualized prior to even clicking the shutter, one should also utilize the "digital darkroom to its fullest."

Which brings me to now. I'm using a combination of Picasa to "touch up" the initial RAW image, and then using GIMP for the flourishes.

I would love to hear from anyone about techniques they utilize both pre- and post-camera. Really, I don't care about what format you use (digital, analog) or what software (Paint, Photoshop, GIMP); what I'm looking for is ideas, as that's what truly fuels photography, or art for that matter. And I hope everyone can take something away from this as much as I hope to. Now that I think about it, why stop there? Who's your favorite artist? What makes them so? What is the one thing, in terms of style, anyway, that captivates you? What do you wish you could emulate about that?

I'm sorry if this is such a rambling entry. I'm just really looking to improving, and I would love to have as much input as possible. I take things a tad overboard, sometimes

Furthermore, tomorrow marks the first day of Autumn. There's a corn maze in Gambrills and a pick-your-own pumpkin patch some forty-five minutes west. I plan on frequenting both. Pictures (and new techniques?) to follow shortly.
