It's review time! This week I don't think I had any other choice except Watchmen. Now if you haven't read the graphic novel then I don't know what your doing reading this. The graphic novel was one of the greatest comics I've ever read, and I would not have enjoyed this movie nearly half as much as I did if I didn't read the comic.

Lets start with the visuals. They were dead on and better then I hoped for. Everything from Rorschach's mask to Dr. Manhattan's glow was perfect and very nice to look at. Synder lived up to his reputation in that department. Except for Ozymandias the entire cast looked exactly like their comic book counterparts, so a thumbs up to the casting director.

Now as far as the story goes the were surprisingly faithful to the book except for the ending. Sure a giant octopus alien thing may have been a little too goofy for mainstream audiences, but I was really looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. Other then that Synder got the same message across as the comic despite the change and I'll give him a thumbs up for that. What really bugged me were all of the scenes with normal everyday people talking around the news stand were cut and replaced with very blan war room scenes featuring the worst Richard Nixon ever. We needed those scenes of people talking so we could have something relate to, Superheroes and Generals are not easy to relate to.

The score I think was awesome! I know a lot of people complained about the song played during the sex scene with Nite Owl and Silk Spectre but I loved it. That song came straight from the comic, and I wouldn't have changed it for anything else. The rest of it was great and really made me feel like I was in the 80's.

Anyway as of now I'm withholding my rating until the Directors cut comes out because that will include many deleted scenes that were cut to keep it under 3 hours (which it just barely is) and Tales From the Black Freighter.

It's review time again! I thought I might do a book this time, and not just any book but Stephen King's latest and greatest short story collection Just After Sunset. The first story "Willa" is a ghost story with the usual King twist, pretty good but nothing too specular. But then the book kicks it into high gear with "The Gingerbread Girl" which features a psychopathic killer that is exactly the type of character that King writes best. The book continues with the slow story fast story formula to the end, and I think it works perfectly. A few of the stories are fairly short but for the most part these are some lengthy stories, not that I mind I've gotten used to King going over board with details and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd like to pick a favorite story but I just can't, but what I can do is point out a story that you should avoid. It's not a bad story by any means but it's one where you'll wish that Stephen King would leave out some details for once. I don't wanna give away any plot details, I just wanna advise you to avoid "A Very Tight Place".

I usually prefer a whole book, even a series of books as opposed to short stories but Stephen King always wins me over. He certainly is the greatest writer I've ever read and Just After Sunset is no exception to his greatness. I give it a 10 out of 10.

Review time has finally come! But first I want to let everyone know that we are now on Digg, so feel free to Digg us and tell all your friends!

Now lets get to the review. I've chosen Special Forces by .38 Special this time around. You may recognize Caught Up In You from this album but not much else, that is why I am reviewing it. As a whole the album is pretty solid, Special Forces has a great classic rock sound and luckily came out before .38 Special got really country.

All of the songs have basically the same feel except for Chain Lightin', which starts off with the sounds of thunder and slowly builds into a classic southern rock epic, much less annoying then Free Bird but I still wouldn't recommend listening to it more then once a week and even that may be too much. It's not bad, I just have a problem with five minute long southern rock songs.

Although a very good album there's not too much in the way of a stand out track, but if I had to pick one it'd be Caught Up In You for the reminisce factor. But if you want a really awesome song that is completely new for you then I have to suggest either Rough-Housin' with it's ZZ Top style guitar, or You Keep Runnin' Away which is the only song that lets you know it was made in the 80's.

All in all a good album by an awesome band, I give it an 8 out of 10.
