I start school on Tuesday and I feel a bit restless. Perhaps it's because my summer vacation is over. Not that I had a long one to begin with due to the summer classes I opted to take. Summer classes are both frustrating and exciting. The exciting part comes from getting several credits out of the way in a short period of time. That and you're in a more prepared state for when fall classes arrive. On the downside, short summer vacations aren't as much fun. And school prevented me from putting in extra hours at work. Then again, I'm that much closer to graduation, so I can't complain.

I also head back to work after coming off a two week vacation. The job isn't hard but my respect for management wanes everyday. A little bit of competence and fairness on their part would be nice. All I can do is come to work and do my job to the best of my ability. But even then they make that a chore.

It feels like it's going to be a long week of adjustment, but I'll just have to stay positive. Yeah, positive.

For some reason I'm feeling really random tonight. Something tells me that I might have a hard time sleeping.

It has nearly been a year since I've last updated my DA journal (or my gallery for that matter). I just had to clear out all of the deviations from my watchlist, as there were too many go through. It would have taken me forever to go through 3,503 deviations, so I thought it would be easier to just to visit artist pages instead. So if I start randomly adding favorites, don't be surprised.

I'm also not sure if I'll have any new artwork any time soon. I might focus instead on fiction. I guess time will tell. Although it's nearly time for school again. At least it's my last year at my university and then I'll be done with school. Now that's something to look forward too.

On Tuesday I go back to school, thus ending my long summer break. For the most part it's been a good break and I wish I could have had just a little longer. At the same time, I wish to be done with school, so I can get my degree and move on already. When you're only a part time student, everything takes much longer. If I had been full time, I'd be taking about having a degree in Journalism right now. However, in exchange for being a part time student, I can juggle school, a job, chores around the house and internet stuff without TOO much stress.

Speaking of stress, my last few weeks of summer vacation have been quite stressful (as those of you who follow my LJ may know). Bad neighbors sabotaging our property, kids that run free with no respect for others and punks trying to steal my car/and or the parts on it. Even though a vacation from school was nice from academic stress, the stress of this city block was uneeded. To best describe it, it's like having a sword point pressed to your throat. There's open hostility and you have be on the defensive constantly. Ugh. Where's the love in Philadelphia now???

Moving on to something more pleasant...

For now I've decided to split my time between LiveJournal and DA. Being on DA more often will give me a chance to catch up on all of art on my watch list, and to hopefully upload some art of my own. Currently, I have 1,979 deviations left to view, down from nearly 2,200 last week. As for art, I still owe a few people some stuff and while it hasn't been done, they haven't been forgotten. One of the things I look forward to is finishing up any art trades or requests that I've taken on.

I hope to be able to update my DA journal at least once a week. Wish I could say the same for art, though I have some in the works.

Anyway, the last week was pretty busy for me. After a nice long month break, I've returned to the university. Unlike last semester, I only have classes twice a week. It's nice for free up some time for myself and keeping stress levels low. The downside is, since class meets only twice a week, the homework is usually piled on heavy. Otherwise, it's not too bad.

I've once again taken 8:40 am classes, and I find myself groogy at times. My first class in Asian Religions, followed by Greek Drama and Culture and finally College Math. So far, I'm liking the Greek assignments. Reading Greek works is actually fun and I happen to get college credit on the side. I hope I can say the same when tests come around.

Other than college, the only thing else to happen here is the snow. On Saturday and Sunday morning, we got about 10 inches of the fluffy white stuff. It wasn't fun to shovel it, but it makes things interesting. Not that I have off from school or work, but I suppose it finally feels like winter now. It's hard to believe that 3 weeks ago I was able to stand outside in a t-shirt washing my mini-van. The Northeast has definitely had strange weather this year. Snow pictures can be found in my Live Journal:

Posted already on my LJ, but in case anyone was curious...

If I was a networking internet connections guru, I'd probably understand what just happened. But, I'm not and I simply worked on a hunch. "What if I was being too hasty and not paying enough attention to my where my wires were connected?" The thought occurred to me as I was browsing Linksys.com's help page. So, I switched the wire going into my computer's ethernet card with the one going into my modem. In other words, I put the ethernet card in the first port and directly connected my modem to my router's WAN port. Was that the original configuration? Honestly, I don't remember because all of the wires were blue up until yesterday.

Oddly enough that didn't work at all, even after resetting the router and restarting my computer. I began to fear the worst until I directly plugged the modem into the shared Uplink port (which was previously unused even when the router was fine). Not only did that work, but XP detected what kind of router I was using and gave me access to the online configuration tool. When I previously used the router I had the address bookmarked. I'm not even going to try to make sense of it any further than this entry. All I know is that my router works, I can surf the net using it and I probably have a lot of reconfiguring to do.

With that problem solved, what am I to do with my older router that still works but is a little beat up?

I was overjoyed upon finding a package waiting for me at the bottom of my stairwell. Inside was my new (well brought used) Linksys BEFSR41 wired router. I'd brought the router to simply replace my older one because I was certain that I had broken it, last week. To make a long explaination short, I tossed it against the floor. When I hooked up the replacement, it didn't work at all. The three lights didn't flash at all, and what's worse my WAN activity lights were also off. I messed around with a variety of settings and wires. Finally I ended up switching my old pair of wires with new pair I had also gotten of the internet. For some reason, that caused all of my WAN lights to come on. By this time I had discovered that my activity lights on the router and my modem were simply being detected slowly by my computer.

However, one problem wouldn't go away; my ethernet card. The activity light always remained a solid orange while the link light remained off. If I removed the router and plugged the cable back into my modem everything would light up. I tried with both routers (apparently the one I'd replaced was still good, the wires were bad) and got the same results, no activity lights. I tried a variety of solutions that included upgrading the routers firmware (didn't work), resetting it, and shutting off my computer. However the problem remains, and that leads me to ponder four things. Either:

1. My ethernet card has issues (but I'm able to connect without a router).
2. I need to replace all of my wires with R45 ones.
3. Both routers are damaged.
4. I some how messed up my file settings when dealing with constant outages (thanks to my ISP) last week.

Because I'm clueless now, I'll probably give tech support a call tomorrow or on Monday. I'm glad I can still connect to the net, but my mother can't with her laptop now. Luckily she doesn't use the internet much, but still the network was fine last week... And I can't believe I wasted three hours on this problem. I could have watched a movie and some downloaded anime, or I could have played Xenosaga... Anyway, I should probably finish dinner and hop on TBL chat before it becomes later than it is.

I got home from work expecting to update my Live Journal as I do often. To my disappointment, I found that Live Journal was down. Unlike normal periods of downtime, all of the servers had lost power as well as the backups. The staff was kind enough to leave a status page up, but from the looks of it finding the problem might take some time. Which means possibly going a whole weekend without LJ. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a huge lost, but rambling on LJ and viewing the thoughts of friends was one of my favorite things to do online. Just like a few of my friends felt withdrawl when Yerf.com went down, I now understand how they feel. There are alternatives of course and the sooner I do them the better I will feel. So until LJ returns, I shall simply journal here and transfer some of the content later.

One my highlights from today includes finally beating Fire Emblem. I've been playing for more than a solid month and I'm proud to say that my hard work has finally paid off. The game was so addicting that despite it being a simple GBA RPG, I played it more than Xenosaga on my PS2. In fact, I put Xenosaga on hold just so I could finish Fire Emblem. The last two chapters of the game were fairly long as I had to battle through about 8 high powered bosses, including a large fire dragon. But compared to the 5 before the last and final boss, the dragon was easy. The ending had some nice twists although it was a bit of a cliff hanger. It makes me curious about the untranslated Fire Emblem games (in the US we got what was actually the sixth installment of the series). However, I hear there will be a game coming out for the GameCube, I hope it's a continuation of the GBA's story.

Other than that, I'm not looking forward to the fact that I have school on Tuesday. With luck, maybe I'll actually start a few drawings that I've promised.

Once again, this post consists of shovelware from my Live Journal. If you already read my LJ, I suggest skipping this entry.

Finally some time to sit down and write.

Other than playing Fire Emblem for a little while, I've been busy all day. I did a variety of chores around the house and a few outside, including cleaning the van. Since it hadn't been cleaned since June, I decided a good washing was needed. It took about a half hour to scrape off the numbers the city and towing place had written on it and to clean away the dirt and dried leaves. Once that was done, I was able to dry it. It's not brand new, but still looks pretty decent. I also brought a radio/CD player off my friend for about $100 (yey for that spare money I had in my savings account), who will probably come over and install it tomorrow.

I also went out with my mother to get the oil changed and gas in the tank. Other than it being a long line for some reason, the change went well. The van seems to be in pretty good condition, although the battery may need replacing very soon. The ride him was a little dull without a radio and I can't say I really enjoyed the chat. I'm just getting tired of being hounded about the novel and how if it gets published it'll make everything right overnight. Last time I heard, the process once started takes at least a year or two, and that doesn't include editing. How I can convey that to my mother, I don't know. But if I'm working such things as video games, forums, LJ or chatting with online friends, it seems to be a waste of good time. As if I'm not busy enough. Anyway, time to move on, before this entry becomes a rant or something.

In about five hours, 2004 will be officially over on the East Coast. It's been an interesting year to say the least. I've learned much, I've gained much and I've lost some. All in all, I'm ready to ring in the new year. But before looking toward the new, one should reflect on the old...

The most memorable thing of 2004 will be my Grandfather's death. It was about 10 months ago that he passed away and we all traveled to South Carolina to bury him. It only seems like yesterday when it happened at times. I don't think about Grandpa all the time, but whenever I think of my grandmother or visit her house, I can't help but think of him. Ever since I was a small child, he was always over there. I even remember when I was about 5 or 6, he took me to run errands with him. While it was rather boring, there was something fun about being with Grandpa. I know he wasn't the best man and did terrible things in his past, but he did enough right that I can still find fond memories of him and so can others. I hope you're resting in Peace up there Grandpa.

One my best memories from 2004 will definitely be Anthrocon. It was my first year there, and it hopefully wont' be my last. I finally got to see the Adam's Mark Hotel before they closed it, and I got to go to my first convention ever. I meet quite a few online friends there and made new friends. All in all, the convention was everything I wanted it to be. While I had no one to personally go with, I had quite a bit of fun as a lone husky. I'm definitely looking forward to returning to Anthrocon in 2005.

Had a pretty good time making new friends in real life and online.

My spring classes were actually a blast when compared to my fall classes. Speaking of classes, 04 was finally the year where I found a major that might result in a probable career. I never saw myself as a journalist, but it seems like the most interesting field of writing to go into now. After all, what good is college if they don't train you and give the skills you need to succeed? If I don't fully like writing for journalism, I could still always try my hand at writing fiction on the side.

2004 was also the year where I brought my first vehicle, hoping to be able to drive it soon. Things never worked out as such, especially in the last few days. However, the start of a new year brings many new opportunities.

This year we're trying something new, and we'll be in church ringing in the new year. I'm not sure what the service will be like, but more than likely, it'll be enjoyable. So, I should probably head off to enjoy the rest of my night before we have to go. I'll still probably be on AIM when I get home. So I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

(Actually, I just found out as I was writing to my DA journal that we won't be going to church after all. My mother's too tired to go. So it's another year at home, since I really don't feel like going out to party.)

Gah, I forgot to update on how my Christmas went. But luckily, I have a LJ to simply shovel stuff over from. So, I'll do just that:

Now that some of the excitement and busy stuff from the holidays have died down, now I can sit back and actually post. So here's how the past two days went:

Christmas Eve
I was pretty busy on Friday. Because I went to bed early, I ended up getting over 8 hours of sleep. When I got up, around 8am, my mom permed my hair. After that, I got dressed, wrapped presents and did a few chores. Because it was fairly cold outside, I waited until the afternoon before going outside. I stopped at the nearest store and picked up a few last minute gifts. I then went home and wrapped more presents. Oh and I even got Pardo's card and Thornwolf's conbadge in the mail. Around 7pm, I started cooking for tomorrow. I also made some cookies (which didn't turn out well, because I don't really bake such things), turkey and cut up materials for my mother.

Around 9pm, I began to feel pretty tired, so I went to room to rest for a while. I managed to watch the anime I had taped weeks ago on TV. When I got tired of the anime, I took a short nap. I then got back up to help out with a few extra things around the house, including putting a new seat on the toilet and doing the dishes. Around midnight I was able to hop on AIM and chatted for a while with friends. I went to bed around 3am, but the neighbors decided to throw a late night party and had music blasting all night. Surprisingly no one called the police for disturbing the peace, so I didn't get to sleep until 5am. Just to block out the music, I had to put on a pair of ear huggers. Next time, if no one calls the police, I'll do so myself. Loud music is one thing, but at close to 4am is another.

Christmas Day
Got up around 9:30 that morning, so I wasn't well rested at all. I didn't feel like getting up, but my mom insisted so we could start opening presents. I dragged myself out of bed headed downstairs and we exchanged wrapped presents. My mother was annoyingly curious about what <lj user="cwtyger"> sent me, so I opened that first. (My stuff will be listed later in this entry, with pictures) I then had her open a few surprise gifts that I got her. Including a new skillet set and sugar-free chocolates (which taste pretty good). We decided not to go to breakfast and I ended up doing dishes again for she had finished cooking what we were going to take to my grandmother. Once the dishes were done, I decided to rest a bit longer and watched more of Full Metal Alchemist and The Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex on tape. After a while I got up and played Fire Emblem for a bit. Some where in between that resting, I did give the dog a good bath.

Around 2, I finally got dressed and walked the dog. Then around 4pm, we changed and headed to my grandmother's house. Because we were a little early not many people were around. Just my two aunts, and my grandmother. To pass the time I played with my GBA SP, unless I was needed for an errand. I ended up trying out a small plate of food, as it was ready. Then later on, when I got tired of Fire Emblem, I decided to eat dinner. Before I ate, I popped in my Bringing Down the House DVD for everyone to watch. The house filled up a bit more by then. A few of my cousins, one brought her new fiance and her young baby and my mom's boyfriend, Paul came. It felt a bit strange to see my cousin with a baby and getting married since she's a bit younger than I am. It's not unusual though as everyone lives out their lives differently. My mom passed a rough copy of the novel I wrote last year (for NaNoWriMo) to my cousin John (jr). Probably hoping he'd help fund my publishing efforts since he's and NBA player and has a little extra money. O_o; Despite the turnout, the house wasn't nearly as busy as it used to be in past years.

While I watched the movie, everyone exchange presents and what not. Finally, close to 10pm, we finally left as my Uncle John came over. When I got home, I went to TBL chat, though it was a little slow. I found myself disappointed that there wasn't anything new airing on Adult Swim. Finally, around 2:30 I went to bed.

And because everyone's probably curious, here's my christmas stuff. Honestly, giving was just as much fun as receiving. Until money started to become a problem. ^_^;

-A hard cover sketchbook and wolf pack blanket (This is what cwtyger sent me. Just thought I'd pass that on, since policho asked me twice already.)
-Seven bottles of bath and shower gel
-Xenosaga
-Pokémon Leaf Green
-Sawuga stickers (and yes, goldeagleradar not only do I like them, but I've seen the show a fe...

It took a long while, but I'm finally caught up with my DA watchlist. Thanks to NaNoWriMo and school, I was unable to view all of those Deviations and they amounted to well over 600. Now, I'm finally down to 0. If that's not more reasonable, I don't know what is. And I suppose I should update now.

NaNoWriMo went pretty well. I ended up reaching 50K on the 29th [link] and finished my novel at a few words shy of 58K. The writing contest and college got a little stressful at times, but I managed to make it.

Speaking of college, I'm finally on Christmas break. I don't have to return to the University until about January 18th. I plan to make the most of this break, after Christmas. I'm not sure if it will turn out that way, but it never hurts to plan.

I do have a few pieces of artwork and fiction on my hard drive. But they still remain unfinished. I should probably upload to keep my gallery from collecting dust. Heh.

Oh, I also saw Balto 3 when I got out of school. I ordered a VCD from Asia (making sure it had an English track) and saw the movie that way. It makes me want a high quality DVD all the more now. Yeah, I though the movie was pretty good.

Nanowrimo starts today! Now I'll really be pressed for free time during the next month. This year is so busy that I'll just be trying my best to make the 50,000 word goal before December 1st comes along. Writing a minium of 1670 words per day should be more than enough to finish. As long as I can make that minium day to day. I actually hope to exceed that minium. So, until then, I'll not do any artwork or fiction. Hopefully December will be a more productive month as far as that goes.

Ever since I left back in September to catch up on school work, I haven't been back. Over 100 journals and over 500 deviations to view! Other than a select few, I deleted most of the journal entries without reading them. (Sorry but that was a bit too much, and DA doesn't flow as smoothly as Live Journal does.) As for the artwork, I'll slowly work my way through it. It's going to take a while though.

I've not drawn a thing since August, but I have been doing some writing. So expect a little fiction soon. I'll also try to keep my DA journal updated at least once a week. But as usual, all of my journaling can be found in my LJ. That's updated at least once a day. [link]

I'd better get back to chores and homework first.

Wow, talk about a lot of artwork to view. That's what happens when I don't check DA for a few weeks. 120+ Deviations to go through... Seeing how I'm back in school, I'll probably only check DA once a week or just on the weekends. Who know how often I'll upload though?

I am glad to have gotten through last week. It really got started on the wrong foot. First the stolen artwork issue (which was resolved by DA), then going to school. My first week of school involved a lot of discomfort. It's not much more than that, because on the grand scale of things it wasn't that important. It just boils down to me not liking math and having a hard time with it. In addition to that, I ordered my books on-line, and because of the wait, I fell behind in my assignments. Once I get caught up and adjusted to going to school five days a week (usually I don't go more than three days) I'll be just fine. I also have all the help I'll need with math, I just need to seek that help out.

Overall, this summer was a pretty good one. I was busy in May, relaxed in June, and went to my first convention in July. I didn't draw or write much, but that can always be done later. It's a shame to see another summer gone by, but at the same time I feel as if I'm moving forward with my life. I think I'm going to like my journalism class, and if I do, I'll probably take up that as a major. After all, I can't waste all of my college life not knowing what I want to do.

I'm also glad today is Labor day. No school, no work. Just some time to relax, and catch up with work. Speaking of which, I should get going. I've still got math and journalism homework to do.

The artwork itself was stolen from Silver Style, here. [link] Sometimes I'm tempted to pull down the gift section, but why should I let the actions of others ruin the gift that friends have given me. If she refuses to take down the icon, I'll report her to DA. Any help on the matter would be appreciated.
Maybe I'll finally have that half of the art trade with done. Then I can move on to other things, and get back to drawing. But, ack for the moment I have to get going. Saturday morning stuff to attend to.

I really need to use my DA journal more often. Hell, I need to update my DA account more often. It's funny how when Live Journal goes down for a few days, that DA decides to go into read-only mode. Thus cutting off my access to rant about stuff online. Live Journal still has some issues, but at least DA is out of read-only mode. So, I'll be sure to use DA a lot more often. But for any of you who know me, know that I'm a LJ addict. So most of my rantings can be found there. [link]

Now, to the real point of this journal entry:

It is just me or does it seem that now that school is out, online thieves have a lot more time on their hands? Just this week alone I've come across four sites that have stolen things from either myself or friends. It could be directly linked content from my Balto website [link] , information stolen word for word, or gift art that I had up on Silver Style, where they made my fursonia into their personal character. It's just frustrating all around. I've had some success with e-mail, and the rest calls for tightening the security on my site. That means disabling right-clicking and preventing hot-linking with .htacces.

I'm not sure what I can do about the art thieves though. I'd like to prevent it from happening. Even if it was gift art that I didn't draw, it's still my character. I'll see how it all works out. Luckily these people stealing from me, also want me to link to their sites, so I already have something over them.

Anyway, back to being on hold on the phone. It's amusing how when typing up a journal entry, being on hold isn't so bad.

I've finally caught up on DA stuff. I had close to 200 messages, but I managed to view all of the artwork, and read all of the journals. Now that I'm caught up, I hope to be around more. Um yeah.

I've also got a bit of unfinished artwork and unedited fiction on my hard drive. Hopefully I'll get around to finishing, and uploading it soon.

I also have an art trade with to finish coloring.

Even though I'm out of school now, I still find that I'm busy with stuff around the house. It seems that my true summer break of relaxing wasn't meant to start until June, or something. On the plus side, having no homework does mean I can draw and write without fear of procrastinating on some academic project.

So, hopefully I'll have new artwork uploaded more often. Hopefully.

For now, I've added some stuff to the scraps sections. I'm also debating if I should use it just for unfinished stuff or if I should upload photos there too. Ah, I'll decide later, after the final.

Ever have one of those nights where you couldn't sleep at all? I seem to be in that predicament right now. It's been six hours since I got home from work and I couldn't sleep at all. So I simply tossed and turned in bed, trying to rest at least. Normally I wouldn't be too worried, but being sick at the moment I need all of sleep I can get. If I can't sleep well, how do I have a quick recovery? It doesn't matter now, it's well after 5:30am and I should probably get ready for school now.

Knowing me, I'll probably fall asleep in class.

I just finished episode 10 of Naruto, and I was about to start playing Final Fantasy IX. Then the TV was in use just as I was about to do so. Grr. That would have been my first time playing the game too. I don't feel like being rude and kicking anyone off the set, nor do I feel like hauling my PS2 upstairs. I guess I should take it as a sign to do something creative, and try to play tomorrow. I could start on that art contest, or I could write something, I dunno. At the moment I'm feeling pretty annoyed, so I guess I turn on some music. Whatever comes to mind is what I'll do before chatting on AIM with friends.

Well, I finally caved in and got myself a DEV account. I probably won't go exploring until later. Or so I tell myself. I don't want too many people to know about this account, until I have new artwork and fiction up. Since everything submitted was done in 2002-2003. So if you find my account, I either told you directly, or you noticed me watching your account.

Also, I haven't given up the notion on getting into VCL. I just want to go there when I truely do have new artwork and furry fiction to show off.
