My sister and I might go to San Francisco in August for a little getaway. I've never been California and my parents always tell me how much I'd love San Francisco so why not?

I'll be heading to Ireland for the third time in the Spring and I can't wait. My sister is going to school in Galway for a semester. Galways just happens to be my favorite place in the world so how could I skip a chance to go hang out there for a few weeks. I'll probably go onto London after that.

Hopefully will come see me for a few days.

In design news - I'm nearly finished with the layout and construction of the first edition of Here & Now, a guide to St. Louis. That also means that I'm about to get paid. Logically, the next step is that I'm going to buy this beautiful dresser for my room. It's dark wood with clean lines and amazing silver pulls that cascade from each drawer. I'm a furniture junky.

I got a job doing layout and design for a magazine here in St. Louis. It's a local guide to clubs, bars, and restaraunts. That means I get to eat and drink for free a couple of times a month. They're also paying me really well so it's not a bad deal at all.

I also had an interview with a national design agency - Group360 - at their St. Louis office. It went really well and they loved my work. I expect to hear back from them sometime this week. More than likely, I'll do some freelance work for them to see how I work with their designers. If it goes well, I might get hired full time.

I am going to go insane if I see another no-talent, wannabe, ass clown posting a crappy almost cartoon picture he made in windows paint in 2 seconds OR a series of ridiculous, low quality, zero-thought webcam shots. Is this an art/design site or what?

What is up with all the stupid bullshit that people upload to this site? Seriously, there's so much garbage around here that it's unbeleivable. Every page takes 10 minutes to load because there is so much crap.

Here's what I'm talking about....

I was browsing the Interfaces>websites section today and stumbled upon some moron who uploaded about 10 random little buttons that he was going to use for his website. Come on....that's not an interface. That's a button. It was like a 100px by 20px green image with generic ass-text. Why the fuck do I care about that?

Also, what it so hard to understand about these categories? They are fairly simple. Every time I browse a section I see shit that is so out of place it hurts my brain. I'll use the website section as an example.....there are pictures of fucking cartoon dogs and shit made in windows paint. It's not hard to realize that a crappy cartoon piece of shit doesn't belong there. You can't even accidently, in a moment of retardation, think that is a website for a second.

One more thing - I hate when I see one of these idiotic visual abortions and something looks really sick or nasty and the "artist" says: "Oh, by the way: I meant for that part to look like that."

No you didn't. That's like when you were a kid and you tripped in front of a hot girl: "Oh, I meant to do that." Put forth some fuckin effort and change the sick parts so they look nice. Art doesn't fall out of your ass.

I mean, could anything be more overdone? Certainly, the imagery is sweet as hell but nowadays every kid and his pet monkey is doing these things. Abstract is a nice way to bypass the artistic side of this sight so people can drool over the eye candy. Some of the true 3D masters like ekud and alex4ever are probably pulling off the elusive art side of it but the rest of you kids are just making graphics.

I just think it's lame that so many people are doing this stuff now and calling it "abstract" when it's not. Quit lying to yourselves.
