After about 5-6 months of 'skinning-hibernation' I finally got back in the wizz again, creating a WinAmp skin. I had hoped that this would be the spark that would once again re-start my 'skinning-fire' - but sadly no.
I just can't get back into the groove and have therefore desided to quit once and for all.

I won't be leaving, I'll still be around though, due to my admin'ing duties at Skinbase and Wincustomize.
Nah not really. Only that everyone should keep this in mind:

-Unemployment-
I've been without work since March 2004 and even though it kinda sucks I'm not really making an effort to find a new job at the moment.
Why not?
Well, I simply havent got time at the moment....

And here's why:
1) I'm currently remodeling my house - big style!
The whole top floor has been ripped out. Floors, walls, ceiling, windows - everything!. I've been at it since just before Easter and was kinda figuring that it wouldn't take me more than a couple of months, tops, to complete it. Boy have I gotten wiser..... ¬.¬
I'm now, three months late, not even close to be done, prolly looking at at least another month or so of work.
It might be hard work but hell its fun and wouldnt give it a second thought about doing it all over again!
Anyway, if anyone wanna have a peek at exactly what's going, feel free to have a look here: [link]
They're not fully up-todate though but more pics will be added tomorrow. (Tuesday, August 2nd)

2) My online commitments!
I'm currently fortunate enough to be admin at a few skinning-related sites and boy is that fun.
Although I'm content with being "just" a member of the sites, being an admin gives you a whole different view of the sites - from "behind the scene".
The sites I'm admin'ing are:
Skinbase - [link]
Skinz - [link] (lashes out at the old guard - remember this one, eh?)
Wincustomize - [link]
plus my own site, off course.... (more about that later)

Skinbase is the site Ive been admin at the longest - since 2001 and a member even longer, can't remember when I joined but it was before it got the 'Skinbase' name, which was back in 1999 - I think.... . It's been great to follow this site grow.
Skinz...... well, if you don't know this site, you're prolly a newbie. Skinz was the mother of skin-sites (even though others say otherwise). This site has nurtured some of the biggest names and most talented artists in the skinning business today. Names like Dangeruss, treetog, Alexandrie, hippy... and the list goes on and on. Though I'm not one of the big names I started out on Skinz too and loved every second of it. Skinz wasn't my homepage - it was my HOME! It nearly killed me when sodding eFront burried it into the mud.
I joined as admin back in 2003 after the current owner (geekpipe) bought the site and wanted to bring it back to its former glory. Havent succeeded so far.... but I'm still hoping
Wincustomize is by far the most active of the sites and does bring the most fun and headaches..... and let's just leave it at that (joined the team in 2004)

and last but not least
3) Updating my own site....
I started updating it back in 2003 or was it 2002.... well.... I havent fully completed it as of yet.
I guess it boils down to that I kept getting ideas on how to improve the site plus adding new features and didnt really have the means to code them (read: knowledge) but with a great deal of help from an online buddy everything is in place (I owe you big-time, tranks, thanks bro). All I need to do now is to fine polish some of the code and it *should* be ready for the grand relaunch (honest, gov!)
So, stay tuned for any news on the relaunch date: [link]

So, you see.... how the heck would I ever find time to work?!?!?!

I doubt it'll be a great loss to DevArt nor a great impact on this community but I'll most likely be removing my stash here if it indeed is true he got fired.
I don't think there would be any valid reasons for fireing one of the support bricks in the "skinning wall".
A signature I saw, in a comment says all about how I think/feal this whole deal will affect DevArt:

"You do not remove the foundation from a building and expect it to still stand"

Removing jark from the DevArt team makes DevArt a site without soul and integrity - simply just another site.

I guess all we can do is wait and see.....
