And now I'm working full time as a graphic designer for Pratt & Whitney. Some of you may know the company....we make airplane engines and stuff. I love the job and am lucky to have it. But, alas, time isn't something I have a lot of anymore. I don't even have the time to paint. Hopefully this changes.

I'll try my hardest to update. And I will, I'm sticking to the promise I made you all god knows how long ago. I just need to blow the dust off my camera and start taking the pictures.

Egh. Sunburns, heartbreaks and friend drama are not the ingredients of a good summer. Remember this, folks.

What can I say, I'm liking this college a hell of a lot more now and I'm definitely staying now that I know i'm loved here.

Instead I spend most of my time holed up in this oddly shaped room with nothing but an 8 inch Squall Leonhart figurine and 4 betta fish (called Walter Sullivan, Walter's Mom, Susan B. Anthony and George Foreman) to keep me company. It's not that I don't have friends here, I do and i love them and am so grateful. But I don't feel like I belong here yet. And it doesn't help that I've been incredibly emo as of lately. So many nasties are hitting me at once and all I want to do is curl up and sleep my time away. I feel like in the past year i've lost everything. I left my friends behind, and my family too, and someone else who i won't talk about because it's just something between him and I and I don't want him to think i'm spiteful, because I'm not. I'm just human, a simple teenage girl. I only feel that i've made some bad choices and I have to live with that and it sucks.

My art classes are challenging and i'm gonna spend a few weeks doing figure drawings from live models, which i'm looking forward to because i've never done that before. But somehow I'm not entirely convinced that this school's art program is anything special, let alone worth the 40 grand my parents are paying for me to go here. I might transfer. Go to a real art school like RISD or something (if I can get in) or at the very least the state university 20 minutes from home that costs half as much but will provide me with probably a better art education than i'm getting here.

I dunno yet.

I really do like living in Providence. For those of you on the east coast, i suggest you come here. It's a nice little city. I never thought i'd be one to like living in the city, but it's good for a change. Even though the fire engines and police sirens keep me up at night sometimes and the public transportation situation is kinda dodgy, there's always something to do here and places to see. Downtown Providence is becoming one of my favorite places to hang out. just me, a good book, my camera (there will be cityscapes in the near future) and a starbucks caramel macchatos. Good shit.

Sorry for my random spewings and boring ramblings but i just felt a need to update.

In other news:

-I got a job! I sell...err...pool supplies. So if you live in the northeast, shop at Namco. We sell acid.

-Art opening went well. Lots of people came and I was happy. The only thing that could have been better were the cookies I baked for the event...I think I cooked the caramel too long or something and the cookies were so hard I almost chipped a tooth when I bit into one.

-I've learned firsthand that getting dumped hurts like a bitch. I mean I always ASSUMED that was the case...but...Sweet baby Jesus it SUCKS!!

-I'm moving to Rhode Island in a few months...at first I was sad to leave everyone but now I'm kind of excited! Especially since certain people in my current life are giving me mixed signals and now for all I know they hate my guts. Guess I'd be a fool to miss THEM, eh? I'm gonna try and take sailing lessons. I've always thought it looked like fun.

First of all, let me apologize for my extreme lack of action here. I noticed the other day that I haven't posted a new piece since December, and that's just unacceptable. I realize this, and I'm sorry if you all have been impatient with me...I wouldn't blame you if you were. But the good news is that I have MULTIPLE ideas for upcoming projects and I'll start on them this week (guaranteed) now that I finally have some time off. I'm not going to tell you what those ideas are...it'll be a surprise! And hopefully you all will like them.

Just thought you guys might like an update on the Scholastic Art Awards thing I mentioned in an earlier journal...I got through to the national level!! Meaning, apparently I have one of the best high school portfolios in the state of Connecticut which is kinda cool. So yeah, now slides of my portfolio pieces are being sent to NYC for judging on the national level.

AP studio art is over. I'm gonna miss the class just because the people in it amused the hell out of me, but at least now I get to do projects that I want to do instead of doing what people tell me I should do. Gotta love freedom *sighs* so I'm gonna start a few new projects this week, so you have that to look forward to! And I promise I'll put em up this time =] lol

Hope you all had a great christmas/new year...and I hope the weather was a bit better where you are then it has been here for the past few days. Couldn't even go out partying on New Year's Eve cuz the roads were covered in snow and ice >< ahh well.

Hopefully this year will be better than last year. It should be...mwahha I finally get to get out of this town for a while! But yeah, hopefully this year nobody I know will die. Might not have new drawings/paintings up for a while...I'm a bit burnt out at the moment since I've been working my ass off. But I do have an art final coming up in 3 short weeks...and the assignment is a series of three self portraits. Oh fuck, do I HATE self portraits. Funny, I see myself in the mirror every day and yet I STILL suck at drawing myself -_- but yeah, they're not coming up here unless a miracle happens and they actually come out good.

My art teacher is submitting my portfolio to next year's Scholastics Art Competition. I was shocked...he never really seems to like anything I produce in class :/ But i'm happy nonetheless...hopefully the judges will like my work and fork over a wad of cash in scholarships or whatnot lol wouldn't that be lovely...

On the downside, I have to do extra artwork to supplement my portfolio. Well...there goes what little of a life I had before! Good thing I like doing this stuff anyway lol

I'm going to England in the spring. I don't give a flying fuck what my parents want me to do. Cheap, stubborn people, they are...hell, THEY'RE not the ones who are in love with an Englishman, so I suppose they can't see things EXACTLY how I see them, but I still wish they'd bend a bit and at least consider it. They've seen for themselves how lonely and mopey i've been since he left...

Arrgh.

3) When I was, like, 10 I had a pet pufferfish. His name was Chunky. He lived incredibly long, considering that I bought him at Wal-mart...

I'm extremely happy at the moment :3 happy happy happy Karen. I've cheered up a lot since the last journal since I've had time to deal with the deaths and whatnot and I've gotten the main part of my college applications out of the way. Now I get to kick back and enjoy the rest of the year. Sounds nice, eh?

I'm getting a wee puppy next wednesday He's a little Border Collie and I love him so much. He looks like a puffy black and white bear. I went to go visit him on Saturday, but he's still too little to be taken away from his mom so I have to leave him there until next wednesday when he'll be 8 weeks old. I'll post some pictures of him in my scrap section when I get to take him home.

And then at the end of next month my boyfriend's coming all the way from England to see me I've been waiting for this for over a year!!! I'm really looking forward to seeing him since I love him to death hehee

Here's the only fly in the ointment as far as my life goes...my art teacher is driving me up the wall. He's a nice guy and I really like him, but he's never happy with anything my class produces. And when we ask him what he wants of us, he only says 'I don't want anything.' grr...we're not psychich y'know... and what's more he only gives us short periods of time to finish a project. I know that works for some people...hell for SOME people a few days might be MORE than enough time. But, I'm a slow worker and if I want to produce a quality piece of work I have to spend days, sometimes weeks on that piece. My teacher won't let me, so I end up half-assing all my projects so I can get them in by the due date, but then they always come out like crap *which is why you haven't seen many of my recent projects lol* and now i'm really freaking out because i dislike practically everything I've produced this semester and I'm afraid that when I show colleges my portfolio, they'll only get to see a collection of half-assed pieces that are pure shit. ahh well...maybe I'll try and work on a piece or two at home so I can have at least a few pieces I can take my time on and make look nice D:

Been a long ass week, I'll tell ya...errgh...

I've been insanely stressed out...since I'm going through the joyous period that most teenagers go through during which they work their asses off on college applications. Whoo friggin hoo. And I'm hell bent on getting into at least one of my top two schools...if I don't get in to either i'm gonna freak out and bite someone. But then...even if I do get in I have to worry about scholarships since my top 2 schools are 35,000 a year each, which is kinda nuts. So, yeah, I'm kinda going nuts over here.

And then there's the matter of making all my drawings and paintings look spiffy so they'll be presentable when colleges ask to see my portfolio. I'll be at the National Portfolio Day in Hartford in early November...hopefully the art critics and admissions people will have some constructive advice for me.

Another thing adding to my festering turd of a week? The death of one of my classmates. Now, I never knew the guy very well, but it was still kind of a slap in the face. I mean, we're all so young and we all naturally assume that we'll graduate together, get awesome jobs, marry our loved ones, have kids, and THEN maybe worry about death, y'know? But here's solid proof that life is more fragile than we teenagers like to think, and it's rather frightening. That could have been me in that car, or my sister or my boyfriend or my best friend. It's really upsetting...and it's been bothering me since it happened on Wednesday. I guess maybe I should make another abstract painting to get all these emotions out, what d'ya think? And, well...it doesn't exactly help that I've recently lost my dog as well. God, I suck with the whole death thing ><;;

Took the SATs again yesterday. Because there's nothing I enjoy more than waking up at 6 am on a Saturday morning following a stress filled week so I can take a 4 hour test that could have an impact on whether or not I get into the college of my choice. Freaking ARRGH!! But yeah, hopefully I did better on this one then I did on my last one...my goal is to break 2000 (got a 1940 on the last one).

But yes, since my journal entry has been rather depressing/ranty, I'll add a humorous bit. I do believe it's fitting, since I"m working on the whole college application thing and maybe some of you guys are too

Feeling a bit better...I guess all I needed to do the other day was rant In case you were wondering, I was upset because I had a very insulting and unprovoked message sent to me on one of my profile sites, but I won't go into exactly what it said because then I'll get upset again. Yes. 2 journal entries in one week. OMG WTF. So bite me.

I'll start with the bad news first...just to get it out of the way. Summer vacation's almost over *sobs and clings desperately to my remaining week and a half of freedom* And I still have 3 works of art to do, 3 books to read, 2 essays to write and a bunch of random literature/history questions to answer for my AP classes. Damn my tendency to be an overacheiver and take AP classes. And damn my tendency to procrastinate as well. Procrastination and advanced classes do not mix well. On the brighter side, I do kinda miss seeing all my friends every day. And my first sememster isn't too bad...lessee

Block 1: AP studio art
Block 2: French II
Block 3: AP European History
Block 4: Physics (didn't want this class, but I suppose it's for the best...colleges would rather see this on my class list than a third history class for the year lol I was gonna take Native American history)

More news. Dunno yet if it's good or bad. I've applied for a job at the local dry cleaners and my interview went really well. Last time I talked to the person who's hiring, I was their first choice for the job. But, for some reason, they needed time to think about it some more and I'm supposed to find out soon whether or not I got the job. But I have a good feeling about it So, hopefully I'll have a job by the time I go back to school. Then I can make some money And if I get the job, I might be going back to England next February!! I really wanna go back to England.

And now for the good news. I'M HAVING MY OWN ART EXHIBITON NEXT YEAR!!! OMG. My very own!! :3 I feel all professional and such. Maybe someone will actually buy my work. But yeah, it's gonna be either next January or February in South Windsor. I'm so happy. I guess it's a really big deal, too. My mom tells me that some artists actually pay to have their work shown at this place, but this lady was practically begging me to show my stuff there o_0 Yay. So yeah, I'm really happy about that I'll have more info on this later.

Yes, I know, haven't written in a while. Felt it was time you all knew what was going on in my little world here.

After about a month of extreme laziness and lack of inspiration/motivation/whatever I'm a lazy bum I've finally gotten back to work. I'm about halfway done with a new still life that I hope you all will enjoy, and then I have to cram in at least 3 more pieces by the end of the summer or Blais will chop off my head and mount it on a plaque above his fireplace. The label will read 'slacker'.

I recently put 2 more things in my scrap bin...I know that some of you have already noticed and commented, but I'm sure a lot of you don't even know they're there. :/

My face is twice its normal size. Stoooopid wisdom teeth removal...you'd think I'd be feeling okay by now considering I had them out on TUESDAY, but NOOOO. And it hurts like a bitch so I'm not in the greatest mood >< owwww my blood hurts.

On a lighter note, I got my haircut!! it's SHORT!! SO FLIPPIN SHORT oh my god I haven't had short hair since I was like 5. When I'm feeling better I'll play around with it and maybe post a picture up here for you all so you can see. It actually looks hilarious right now...it's too short to tie back properly so I had to sleep with it loose and now it's so huge. I look like a country western star with poofy hair ><

I'm free at last!!!!! Yeah, school got out yesterday, so I was irrationally exuberant about that. I was at that point where I was sick of most of my teachers and classmates to the point of wanting to line them all up and running by with my hand outstretched so I could slap them all across the face.

The only class i'm REALLY going to miss is painting. Not so much the subject matter, since I'm happier when I can do whatever I want with my work without having to worry about it fitting the teacher's criteria. No, I'm going to miss the people in the class. I'm going to miss swing dancing in the back of the room with Ellen and Zephyr, I'm going to miss painting moustaches on Kristin, I'm even going to miss my teacher since I do love her so. It was a good class.

Yesterday was great...I went to the olive garden for lunch with , and . And Dan hahah can't forget about Dan, the psycho. We ordered a buttload o' breadsticks and salad and a few other things, and pretty much just pigged out. We also terrorized our waiter. Zephyr and Dan kept making up these insane mafia stories and then asking things like where they put the handguns or how many bodies they could fit in the trunk of a car whenever the waiter came by. :l It was definitely a good way to start summer...:] Gotta love making a scene in public.

So yeah, now I get to sleep late . Except I also have 4 pieces of art, 10 summer reading books and like 3 essays to write *grumbles* oh well. At least the first two are fun, right? And I'm going back to Cape Cod on Sunday, which is definitely awesome. So! Good news! I've been accepted into my school's most advanced art program that's specifically made for people who are interested in pursuing an art career. It'll help us develop good portfolios so we can get into any art school we want, pretty much. Which is definitely cool. And my class is awesome...there are 7 art students including myself that were accepted and they're all so great.

So, yeah, expect massive updates this summer, fall, and winter. It'll be a hell of a busy semester.

Yes, apparently the people in my town are brainless idiots who don't care about the education that their children are getting. Fucking assholes.

So recently the townspeople had to vote on what the school budget would be like this year. I found out about the results today. Apparently, our school is getting less money this year than usual...and now it has to cut back on the money spending. Now, all the extracurriculars with the exception of varsity sports have been cancelled. We're basically getting screwed over, here.

Which makes absolutely no sense in my mind. Colleges expect us to do things for our school, but if there aren't any clubs, how the hell are we supposed to do that?

My parents say the budget plan got turned down because the people without children in school don't want to pay extra taxes for our school. I mean, taxes here are insanely high to begin with since we're a small town with no major businesses. And, they already had to raise taxes once to pay for the new high school that's being built. But come on, should they really deprive children of the opportunity to get the most out of their high school education? Just because they don't want to spend more money? The town I live in is pretty wealthy...the people can afford to pay the extra taxes for our school. They just don't want to. BECAUSE IT DOESN'T BENEFIT THEM. How selfish is that?!

Don't they realize that although we're all just students at the moment, we're the adults of the future? One day they'll all be old, and we'll be the middle aged group that ultimately controls what happens in the world.

I wish I had money...I wish I could help. I mean, somebody should....

Yeah, my AP studio art portfolio is due on Wednesday. Part of the portfolio is an artist's statement, so I figured I'd show you guys what I had to say.

In my drawings and paintings, I aim to portray my life and all its different aspects. And, since I am just an ordinary girl, this means that most of the traditional work that I do on my own time depicts common, everyday scenes. I want to show those who see my traditional pieces that even the everyday things that people take for granted are artistic, beautiful, and unique. The subjects I prefer to draw and paint are people, places, and objects that I love and are sentimental about.
My abstract pieces, on the other hand, are inspired by my dreams and feelings. The colors and compositions I use all depend on how I feel when I am painting the pieces.
I prefer to paint loosely with bright colors. The result is that my paintings are somewhat realistic, but expressive. Since I use so many different colors, I spend a lot of time mixing paint. Therefore, I prefer to use oils when I paint since it takes longer to dry and allows me more freedom when I mix colors. When I draw, I prefer to use a combination of charcoal and graphite. When I use those media, I can get a wide range of values. They are also easier to control than other dry media, such as pastel.
In the future, I plan on continuing to paint landscapes and portraits of people and scenes from my life. However, I also have a few different things in mind, just to try someothing new. I am planning on doing a series of paintings based on characters from Greek mythology. These paintings will be different from my usual work in that the style will be a bit surreal.

Oooh and I got my SAT scores back today...1940!! woot.

Life is good. I got my prom dress hassle out of the way, the marking period is over for school, I've figured out that ignoring certain people (you know who I mean) will lead to a surprising decline in useless, made up drama.

Drama is good on stage. Or in books or television shows. NOT in my real life.

And by this time next week, I'll have finished with my fucking NHS (National Honors Society, or as my bud Missy would say, National Human Sacrifice) essay. Good riddance to that...this club better be worth it.

And I've been looking at colleges and have a bunch of meetings with them to discuss stuff. Yet another load off my back.

And SPRING BREAK IS NEXT WEEK! yatta!!!!

At night, I lay awake for hours, just staring at my ceiling, thinking about the day's trials and what I should do about my problems. Yes, it's another one of my oh so fun irate joural rantings. whoo -_-

I'm a bit down today. I don't know exactly how i should be feeling. Sad? Angry? Hurt? Confused? arrgh...

Have you ever had a kind opinion about a certain person, only to find out that nothing's what you thought and that person is actually a complete bitch? Sucks, doesn't it?

I was so nice to her...never gave her a reason to hate me or think badly of me whatsoever. I just say kind things to her, respect her, and pretty much keep to myself. She'd always do the same for me. Not like we were friends or anything; we come from very different...'cliques,' if you will. But still, it's nothing that would create a major conflict, you know? I actually thought she was a pretty sweet girl.

Turns out, she's rather nasty and spreads shit about me behind my back. I just found out this afternoon, and I'm absolutely livid. I don't know why she'd do a thing like that. It makes me wonder exactly how much she says about me, and if anyone else is saying these things too.

Heh, you'd think i'd be used to this now. When I was a kid, I was alway s the outcast. The quiet one who kept to herself and hid behind books. The one who was never invited to parties and alway teased cruelly. Luckily, I've changed a lot. But this still bothers me. I guess I'll always be overly sensitive. I'd say it's my greatest fault.

Ahhh well. Only one more year of this bullshit, right? Maybe then people will get some sense knocked into them.

And at least I still have you guys, right?

A miracle happened yesterday: I finally got up off my lazy ass, dragged out my oil paints, and started painting for the first time in what must be 4 months or so. Yeah, I'm really gonna start poppin' em out from here on. I'd actually like to get a print account this year, and if i want to actually sell things I kind of have to have pieces to sell.

And my sister got a computer graphics program for christmas, so I'm gonna use it to make MKG's Seto pic. FORGIVE ME, MKG!!!!!!!!!! I am the scum of the earth.

So yeah, expect Seto, my Kremlin pic and a few still lifes by the end of the month :3

I still need a real job though...I want to save at least $350 by this April so I can (maybe, if he gets a job soon to pay for teh airline ticket) help my buddy stay at the local inn for a few nights. Heh, as soon as it stops friggin' snowing here i'm gonna try and get a job at starbucks. I do love the smell of brewing coffee

For some reason, I've been in an extremely good mood today...even though i have an evil sinus infection/ possibly mono >.<; It might have something to do with the multiple cups of coffee i had during French this morning. o.o; (Dunkin' Donuts makes the BEST coffee by the way...well ok maybe it's tied with Starbucks.)

I be verrrryyyyyy happy because I'm going to a figure skating show with Emily tomorrow (Symphony on Ice for those of you in the Hartford area). I go every year...and it's always fun. It's just my thing, with all the classical music and christmas carols and figure skaters. But this year's gonna be EVEN BETTER because....*gets all excited* ALEXEI YAGUDIN'S GONNA BE THERE! HUZZAH!!!!!!!! Awww he's so cool...and SEXY.

Yesh that makes me very cheerful. *takes a nice long sip of tea and sighs happily*

Don't worry Cyeron, I love you more than I love watching Alexei skate around ice rinks.

The happy news...

Yaaaay i've finally convinced my (real life) friend, Ellen, to get a DA account! Maybe when she comes over on Saturday. That should be fun...anyone have suggestions for a good username?

You know, I'm really getting sick of this. My life is getting crappier by the day and there's nothing I can do about it. So, I'll just let it all out now and let it be over with.

One of my best friends is abandoning me. I love her to death, and I wish that things didn't have to be this way, but she's given me no choice. She never talks to me or any of her other friends anymore. She's abandoned us for her boyfriend. You know, I really hate it when girls just ditch everything just for extra time with a guy. It just pisses me off to no end. Just so that you know, If I ever start obsessing about a guy and won't talk about anything else, you have my permission to bitch me out and knock some common sense into me. Anyway, not only does she never talk to us anymore, I've heard that she's been spreading nasty things about me behind my back. And that just pisses me off. I haven't done ANYTHING to her except be a good friend.

And then there's my job. Oh, sure, it was fun the first weekend and all, but nowadays, whenever I see a pumpkin I feel like hurling myself in front of a speeding car. I mean, I work pretty much full time (8 hours a day on weekends) and I'm so tired all the time. My boss is the biggest asshole known to mankind. He yells at me every chance he gets even though I work harder than most of the other workers on the farm. And I'm a very sensitive person; I can only take so much yelling. Ohhh and there are all the other jolly little things...such as the fact that I'm the lucky girl who gets to shovel all the rotten pumpkins out of the fields and give them to the pigs and the fact that the 'live band' for the children who visit and go on the hayrides only plays the rap versions of 'the wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round' and other such songs. How perfectly dandy. It's just how every woman wants to spend her weekends. Good thing I only have to do this for another two weeks...

I sit outside from 9 in the morning to 5 at night and sell pumpkins and other autumn decorations...might not sound very fun but you'd be surprised! You see, the farm I work at has animals...LOTS of animals. And yesterday one of the buffalo got loose and I had to spend a good 10 minutes trying to corner the damn thing so it couldn't run into the road (luckily, I managed to trap her in one of the greenhouses ). And then there was the whole episode in which one of the goats tried to eat my clothes... Wow.

Anyway, I probably won't be around much because of school and work and stuff. Don't expect any new things from me for a while. Sorry guys! Although I will attempt to finish MKG's picture of Seto...I feel sooo horrible for not having finished it sooner but i'm really busy and now i'm out of drawing paper too (grr). I'm soooooo sorry!

Oh, and I've decided to start selling my pieces...so far the only ones that are for sale are "Woodland Chapel" (It's 18''x 24" Oil on canvas...won't let it go for under $150) and "La Fille Mal Gardee" (approx. 9''x 12'' graphite and charcoal on poster board...$40) I know it might seem kind of expensive, but keep in mind that these are original, one of a kind pieces of art and I've seen some paintings being sold for thousands. These are insanely cheap, actually. If any of you are interested, just drop me an e-mail.

So, you see, I won't be on as often as I was before. Yes, I had fun....except for the evil sunburn. I look like the freakin' devil here. I suppose I must have missed a few spots when I was putting on sunscreen. My advice to you people: never, EVER forget to put sunscreen on your ears. Showering hurts like a bitch when the tops of your ears are bright red and burnt. Trust me on this one.

2) Yes, I know i haven't posted any of my art in a while. Don't worry though...I'm working on it! Got plans to do a self-portrait and a few other random drawings, and i'm working on the painting version of "Outside the Kremlin Wall".

3) Aaaaand now for the inevitable part of this journal entry where I rant about how much life sucks. To all you single people...never, EVER fall in love with an actor. Nothing good will come from it. Went to see my town's production of the musical "Anything Goes" last night. Aand, of course, guess who's got one of the leading parts in the play? None other than one of my past crushes, Joey. Yes, good ol' Joey. And since my life is crap, i realized last night that I STILL have feelings for him. I mean, who wouldn't, with those pretty eyes of his, that gorgeous smile, and that sense of humor that leaves me laughing until I cry. The unfortunate part: he's gay. *beats head against a wall over and over again* Well, what can I expect? The guy likes musicals as much as I do, which was a definite hint...
