Holy crap! I haven't updated this since June 2nd... Wow. Well, um, i don't really feel like rambling on much. I just started my last year of undergrad! Craziness. And I'm finally doing an independent study in photography this semester... so that means hopefully I'll be uploading lots of photos within the next few months. Why hello,

I am currently at work and bored out of my mind so i figured i would update for once.. since i haven't in almost 2 months it seems! Holy crap! Might as well before my subscription runs out anyway. Currently it is summer.. YAY.. and I'm working my normal library job.. as well as hopefully taking some photos for a local museum.. if they ever decide to email me back about coming in to get my volunteer badge printed. *grumble* As for submissions? I've been really lazy and kind of uninspired lately, I'm sorry. Hopefully my artist's block will end soon. I just need to get out, wander around, and take photos like i used to.

Anyhoo, other than that my summer so far has been fairly uneventful.. but enjoyable. Hope everyone here is enjoying it too. I'm currently quite excited and fidgety, mainly from coffee, but also because tonight i am traveling to the magical land of Canandaigua to see David Byrne in concert! WOO! For all those who do not know who that is, he was the lead singer of the Talking Heads, a very popular band in the 80's that i love. So, yeah that should be fantastical. ALL RIGHT, I'll stop rambling and get on with the feature. Hope you all have a lovely day, and enjoy the summer!

Alright so I'm currently hyped up on amp and a little frazzled from registering for classes next semester, but other than that (and a couple other major annoyances that have occurred lately :X) I'm okay. The student art show at my college is tonight.. and two of my photos and one of my paintings are in it.. so woohoo! Also just got a new subscription to make myself feel better.. so yay for that! Haven't done a journal feature in a while so i figured it would. And it's also just come to my attention that i need to come up with a new ID because i no longer have blond hair haha. It is now brown. :) So I'll work on that soon. That's pretty much it. Hope everyone is doing well.. and enjoy the feature. :)

I am exceedingly happy about the popularity of my Edward Cullen wallpaper. I'm glad people like it.

I may possibly have a job soon! I had originally wanted to work at Michaels, but they were being bitchy and never gave me the time of day. Today Barnes and Noble finally called me and asked me to come in for an interview tomorrow! :) So i'm pretty excited about that.

In case you all hadn't noticed, i've been submitting nature photography like crazy lately. It's just been my mood i guess. I've been experimenting with different textures and layers.. and today i tried the ol' "vaseline on the UV filter" technique. I'll be experimenting more with that i'm sure.

Other than that.. it's summer! And i'm so happy about that. Sunshine and warm weather makes Lauren a happy camper.

Alright.. i need to rant. I really can't take this anymore. Just so ya'll know this has nothing to do with anyone on here.. this involves someone i've known for quite some time and am getting rather sick of. And this is me ranting about it because i need to get my thoughts down somewhere.

I am so SICK of people hating their lives and throwing themselves giant pity parties. Your life does not suck as bad as you think it does so get over it. Ugh! It just annoys me beyond belief! I mean, yes. Sometimes i too have bad moods and am a little bummed out.. but to be constantly kicking yourself and making it seem like your life sucks above everyone else's is just ridiculous. And then on top of it, you try to bring others down with you by acting like a giant douchemuffin. You see, i wouldn't be so pissed if you weren't acting like an asshole.. but you are! RAHH!

It's summer time (or almost for some people) and you should be happy! No, i am not totally happy with my life right now but i don't constantly remind the world of it whenever i'm online. Your sad, emo away messages don't make me feel sorry for you. They make me annoyed.

I apologize. I am just slightly annoyed with certain people and needed to rant somewhere. And again, i am stressing the fact that this in no way pertains to ANYONE on deviant art. The end.

I am officially done with the semester! I rocked my last exam at 6 and I'm heading home tomorrow. Summerrrrr! Which means.. more photos! Yay! I'm lookin for a job though. I applied to Barnes and Noble, Michaels, and Bath and Body Works. It all really depends on who calls me but I'm torn between Barnes and Noble and Michaels. Hiya peeps. Hope everyone is doing well.. i'm kinda stressing but it's okay because i just counted.. and i've only got like 16 class days left until the end of the semester! Aha! (i don't have classes Fridays or else there would be more :P)

Hmm.. photography-wise, i put up some stuff from class. Not really my best stuff but whatever. Also if you hadn't noticed i got really bored (or you know, just really felt like procrastinating) the other day and made an Edward Cullen wallpaper. Other than that i haven't really done anything fun/of my own free will in a while. I'm really excited though because i'm finally taking digital photography next semester.. or at least i hope so. I should get in. If i don't there will be hell to pay-eth. I'm also probably going to take figure drawing next semester. I figure, it's kind of one of those essential college art courses you should take no matter what your concentration is.

Hey everyone. Sorry it's been so long since i last updated. I've been rather busy. I'm finally on spring break this week. *sigh* Happiness. Sadly, it's almost over now. :( But oh well. I've had some time to relax, but also some time to freak out. My dog had an operation on Tuesday.. she had a few tumors removed. That was slightly stressful, but she's okay now.

In photography news, i don't have much in the way of new stuff, I'm afraid. I have some film work.. some of which i finished and some that i'm currently working on.. so as soon as i get the chance maybe i'll upload some stuff i feel is worth uploading. I'm honestly not really that into film anymore. I've pretty much gravitated entirely to digital now. I'm just not happy with film quality anymore. I love black and white.. and i love being in the darkroom.. but i just think digital black and white stuff looks so much better. I dunno.

I've been looking into some photography internship opportunities for the summer.. as well as shadowing some local photographers (which is what seems much more likely at the moment). I just need to get away from retail now.. and more into what i wanna do. I need to build up my resume and shit.. like woah.

Anyhoo, that's pretty much it in the life of Lauren. I hope everyone has a very.. happy Easter. Eat lots of candy and ham! Yay. Later gators.

Alright.. for anyone who has read the Stephanie Meyer "Twilight" Series books (and are eagerly anticipating the movie ehehe), then you should recall the scene in this photo quite well.

The absence of color besides the bright red of her coat really draws the eye and focuses our attention on Bella.. and then we see her little.. love triangle happening. :) Love it.

Wow.. it's been a while since i've done the featured deviants thing.. Sorry. I've been really busy. I just had an art history midterm yesterday that i've been studying for forever. Hopefully i did alright on it. Anyway i've gotta go to class in a few minutes so i don't have time to feature deviants at the moment but i guess the purpose of this entry is just to let y'all know i'm not dead.. haha. His style is almost disturbing, in a way, yet beautiful all the same. Many of his images are sort of haunting, yet not all at once. The messages the photos leave you with stick with you. You never want to forget them.


"Lost Soul"

His gallery holds a mix of nature and portraiture. His photo "Lost Soul" struck me as a voice between the two. The concept, although simple, was executed beautifully. The photo seems almost natural. The dress almost appears to be a part of it's surroundings. While you can almost picture the person whom that dress belongs to, therefore possibly making the photo into a portrait of some kind.

Anyhooo, classes have started! Some are more fun that others. My photo class is going to be really awesome i think. We're gonna make pinhole cameras this week and i'm really excited. I've got two rolls of film to develop.. and if they turn out well i'll put some up eventually.

Well, it's that time of year again. In less than a week i venture back to Nazareth for another semester of art student craziness. And in all honesty, with all the crap that's happened this summer, it's safe to say that i'm ready to go back to classes and stuff.. just for a change.. and just so i can get my mind back on track. I wasted so much of my time this summer.. it's time to do something constructive.

ANNNNYWAYYYY. I'm sure all you people really care about are the photos.. if you even care about them. So ummm yeah i put up a few old(ish) photos in which i experimented with using larafairie's sample retro action on. So everyone have a looksie and tell me what you think. They may be the last photos i'll put up for a while. Hope you all have a great rest of the summer and an awesome semester/year/whatever. Byes.
