...anyways, I'm considering getting back into posting on DA. It'd be nice to be showing and recieving criticism on my art again (which rarely happens when the only thing that sees my art is the opposite page of my sketchbook), and to be honest, the stuff in here is outdated. Nearly 2 years ago I posted my last deviation... I may not have progressed as much as GunnerRomantic (damnit, Naomi, quit being so talented! You're making me look bad), but I've progressed enough to be able to look at my old stuff and cringe. Not just your ordinary, run of the mill cringe, either, but a really ugly thing that involves a lot of twitching. Regardless, none of it is indicative of my current artistic level (even though I have spent the last three years programming more than I've been drawing), and I've got 2 years of decent sketches I'd like to put up, if only for the record.

However, the account is old, and somewhat mismanaged. I've got 871 deviations and 694 messages queued up in my list (none of which I'll be able to deal with) and tons of people on my watch list that I couldn't keep up with at the time I left! This doesn't even begin to mention my outdated gallery and cringeworthy old sketches that I used to be so proud of.

So, I know at least a few people might still have me on their watch lists. What do you guys think should be done with my old gallery? Is there a way to easily delete or prune it, or send them to scraps? Should I do that?

All thoughts and comments are appreciated!

If the management starts performing acts like kicking out Jark and not providing an explanation with any degree of routine, I'm gone.

If the current situation is found by documented proof to be worse than it appears (read: Jarks claims of the management seeing only dollars rather than community is not only proven, but found to be understated), I'm gone.

If the community suddenly turns hostile to other people (like what I've heard happens on Elfwood), or to me (unlikely, because since I'm a small time deviant the bad apples normally don't catch sight of me), I'm gone.

Also, if Deviantart changes too much from what it was when I first joined a over a year ago, I may simply fade away.

Until those things happen, I'll be on here to sporadically post art, occasionally post comments, and fart around occasionally. Chances are, since my are has never been popular or refined enough to gather popularity, and my participation in the community is extremely limited, my presence or lack thereof will not make a large impact with any of the few people who read this journal. Regardless, these are my terms, and I will stick by them.

On a lighter note, my next art related project is a Graphic Novel. I've already got preliminary sketches of the first few pages, text (that I've been constantly revising... I've got all of George Lucas's talent for dialogue! ), and a story idea I've been bouncing around and developing for nearly a year.

I really like the comic medium. My attempts at storytelling in a text only medium haven't lived up to my expectations, but I have a good feeling with how this is going to go. However, Jark's firing set off warning bells in my skull. I'm not some diehard Jark fan, and in fact knew nothing about him before the event, including his role in creating DA. However, his presence was made felt in the very fabric of the community... his announcements in the inbox, and the ever present yellow alien. He must have 300 different smilies of his alien, and thats a conservative estimate.

Watching the events as they unfold, I'm worried. Most worrying to me is Spyed's response to all this... its a carefully worded politicians essay that says a lot while simultaneously avoiding the subject at hand, thereby saying nothing. My tolerance of those kind of carefully worded statements has been historically very limited.

So, because of my discomfort with all this, I will not be posting ANY more deviations unless I see significant improvement. I also lied when I said I had more than one finished piece. While very nice, already, I've come to the conclusion that they aren't done. Maybe I'll show you them, as they are.

This is a byproduct of having a new computer. Aside from the distraction that provides...

The scanner is on the old machine. While I COULD cart over the scanned images on a floppy disk (AAAAAGGGHHH), I'm not going to scan in my art until we get the damned network up.

Until then, you'll have to do with the promise that I've finished a few spiffy looking artworks. Including, but not limited to "Reflections".

And yes, Pimento, you'll be allowed to colour it.

You'll notice that all my art thus far is hand drawn. Thats because I'm too lazy to mess with it in photoshop most of the time. I have a pretty nice photoshop project going, but it's not finished. I'd love to do more digital art, but with all the projects I enjoy heaping on myself, art sadly falls in the wayside.
