I really enjoyed it. Crowds do my head in so I had to keep leaving and going outside for some decompression. Also I discovered the antiques and vintage shops in Camden Passage across the road when I went to lunch, a nice surprise.

I am so sick of explaining why people should be in a union when they act as though a job with decent working conditions (and no legal discrimination against gender race or even class) just magically became available for them to work in...

People fought, sometimes died, sometimes were deported to the prison colonies so we might be able to have a job where we don't have to line up at the job exchange and wait for someone to pick us out every morning. Or starve if people didn't like the way we looked, or if we'd spoken up for a badly treated colleague.

On Saturday I went to Who Do You Think You Are/Military/Archaeology Live at Kensington Olympia and saw archaeologists give lectures plus get advice on family history research. It seems that unless my father's parents registered their marriage I will probably never get any leads on how old they were. They gave my dad away to an orphanage so I don't know much more than their names. So I'm not feeling very well and am not doing any art.

He's had a rough time of it in the last five years, both with his own health and the death of a dear friend of his.  It's such a relief to see him cackling away and being his usual humorous self once again.

His is truly a story of courage and fortitude - he will experience problems with his health for the rest of his life but he hasn't given up, despite some very dark times.  My admiration also goes out to his wife Elaine who has stuck by him through sickness and health.

Boiling hot, England playing (and losing) the footie and I get another page out there.

I got through it by sticking my feet in a bucket of cold water under the desk and having the fans on full.  I played calming music (Nouvelle Vague and also BBC Radio 6 music) during the match and gamely carried on drawing so I didn't get too wound up. I still felt sick during extra time.

I don't like drawing action cos it really shows up any problems I have with anatomy but it worked well in the end. I notice that when trying to draw (and colour) action some Japanese influences show...

Page 4 background layer was done twice as I had a different background which was more photo manipulation than painting. It ended up being too detailed and the people looked odd against it so I ditched it and experimented with a 'watercolour' technique instead. i'm quite pleased with the results and there are lots of little bits I liked doing.

I think the classic verdana font was chosen for most internet pages because people with bad sight have trouble making out text with the traditional serif 'flicks' on it.  On one website I frequent the word burns looks like bums, which being frequented by a bunch of dirty-minded Brits like myself ends up with causing endless hilarity.

I found it quite hard to find help on how to make your text accessible but eventually found this on a Scottish website which certainly gave me food for thought:

I hate drawing vehicles.

I bought a new office chair today because the old one was killing my back and anyway it was creaking alarmingly and I didn't want it to fall apart whilst I was sitting on it.  'Assembly should take 10 minutes' it said. HA HA HA! Yeah right.  The factory left these little metal rings on the castor wheels so I had to prise them off with a screwdriver which took 2 hours!!!! Still. It's comfortable.

Radio 6music played an old Sisters of Mercy track this afternoon. I thought it was great but the DJ was in severe pain by the end. He hated it.  :)
