It turned out that the signs weren't so hidden after all, they're everywhere.. I'll upload a few bits of 'evidence' in a moment.. Bare in mind that these photos were all taken today, 3rd Feb, 07 in England (should be freezing, i was out in a t-shirt)..

Well Christmas was very dull and uneventful, but i did manage to buy myself a new lens which i've been looking forward to.. I bought a Sigma 105mm Macro lens.. Still getting used to it, taking some time.. The min aperature is f2.8 which gives me such tiny depth of field it's hard to get a good area of focus... Been playing around with it tonight a lot, taking hundreds of shots of water being dropped into a colourful bowl.. Will upload a few of my good results (there weren't many). Hope you all like them.

I've finally worked though the hundreds of deviations and journals and comments etc built up from my absence.. I have my new super-duper computer (well it will be when i can afford stage 2) but it does the trick.. started sorting through my Geneva photos, got about 240 to sort out, so taking a long time! When i've filtered out the crap, i'll try upload a few good ones..

In other news, i'm now single again, after a year with my gf, i decided it wasn't working out for me, so broke it off.. it's a shame, but was the right descision.. we're staying friends too which is good..

Gotta recalibrate my monitor cus it's all messed up in PS so that's lame.. took me ages trying to make the profile last time, thinking on just buying one of those automatic plug-in things that calibrate the monitor for you..

Got a BIG payrise today, taking affect 1st Jan, so that's good too, so maybe i can splash out on a macro lens and that calibrator thingy sometime soon!

Hope all is well with you peeps!

I went to Geneva last weekend for a few days, took loads of photos.. LOADS! Was a lovely place, the people there are so nice but it's a very expensive lifestyle over there!

Anyhoos, i loaded the photos on my PC and got to have a look at them briefly then not long after my PC cut out and won't come back to life.. I think it's the damn motherboard (again) and I don't wanna have to keep replacing it with dated hardware when I intend on upgrading around april next year.. Looks like i'm gonna have to bring forward part of the upgrade and do an interim one now just so I have some sort of system cus I can't live on my laptop!

So annoying, I just hope my data is still ok on there, i'd die if i lost all my photos and stuff!

Great news peeps!

I just got confirmation today that one of my photos is going to be used in a publication!! It's nothing major, and I donated the photo royalty-free because It's nothing special and it's for my work.. They are gonna use the photo in one of the new leaflets advertising one of our products!! The company is PetPartners and we sell pet insurance, primarily for the Kennel Club.. the photo used is of my own dog which makes it extra cool! I have a print out of what the leaflet will look like, but not in digital form yet.

The photo is of Ella running through some thistles, which is one of the first photos I took when I got my D-SLR!
Photo: [link]
Most of which were at a little skate park nearby. The guys there were cool and let me take some pics, was a bit nervous to get up close at first but later on i went back and there was just 1 guy there so i got to mess about more and climb up onto one of the ramps to get some better shots.. will upload a few of the good ones now...

On Sunday I went round to a neighbour's house to pick up a picture I got framed... They don't have a doorbell and so I had to shout for them to hear me.. but the telly was on loud so I had to walk in and shout.. The dogs eventually heard and one came runnin out.. It was startled by the fact I was already in the house and was barking like mad at me, then it jumped and bit my thigh.. didn't bleed straight away but did after a few mins.. kills now and is mega bruised.. Yesterday I had to go have a tetanus shot, which has the side effect of me feeling like crap today *sigh*

Well.. I've had my Nikon D50 for 6 days now.. and it's dead..
I got up this morning, went to take a pic of the view from my window cus it looked cool.. and *click*.... *wait*..... *wait*...... nope the shutter did not close... so i stood there baffled.. then I eventually managed to get the shutter to reset.. so I went and charged the battery cus it was running a little low, and when i got back from work, it was pissing down with rain but was sunny where we were, and there was an amazing rainbow in the field next to ours.. thought 'ah maybe the camera will be ok now with fully charged battery'..
nope!
still messed up, not taking pics at all, tried everything.. eventually had to call the place i got it from and they said they'd replace it when they get some more in. next week I hope!

*sigh* so lame...

I havent lost faith in the camera itself, because it's got such a good reputation, so when I get my new one i'll give it a fair chance, maybe I was just unlucky..
