The T.V. news guy's around here get so geeked when we expect rain."Stay tuned for STORM WATCH O9." When all thats expected is a quarter of an inch of rain. "Breaking news! We got through the morning rush hour without rain, but by noon we should see rainfall up to a half inch!"
And drivers can't drive in the rain in SoCal. There are always 100 to 300 fender benders on the freeways, during a rainy period. In Los Angeles, it dosen't matter, it's always bumper to bumper!

I'm guessing we are not gonna get much from this storm front coming through!

My dad was a commercial fisherman. So when I was between my Junior-Senior year of high school my Dad took me out Tuna fishing as a cabin boy (doing menial task in the galley and on deck. The idea was for me to experiance his life, so that I would not continue in his footsteps. In just those six short weeks the lure of the sea had already grabbed me.
Needless to say I am not a commercial fisherman, but I have a deep spot in my soul for these old ships.
Sometimes I feel that I had a past life one these old ships. Maybe!

The water has been warmer, earlier than usual. Which could mean,maybe an El Nino is in my future, could it be a rainy winter in my future. Hope so, but that is months away.
Most all the migratory birds are long gone! I had a house wren, that has a nest somewhere in the vacinity of my home. He made quite a noisy racket from first light to sundown, everyday,since February. Now he's gone. Only thing I'm hearing these days are House Finches and Morning Doves.
Have to go shooting, somewhere, but haven't been motivated. I feel like I need to travel someplace to get motivated.

So I bought (begrudgingly)a new, screaming fast H.P. with a new 19" Flat Screen (love, love love it!) Bought a new elements 6 Pshop program. I'm livin the life. So about three weeks ago a get an up grade message from H.P.
Cool, got to keep my new computer current, so I down loaded it! Now I have to by a new video card because it rendered my old one useless and won't allow my screen saver to operate. So I have been putting off buying the card just because frickin gas is so expensive AND we are watching every dime.
So two days ago, I turned off my monitor, computer and printers to save energy and now my monitor will not turn on. Yes I checked all the power cords. I am ANGRRRRRRY! I HATE COMPUTERS! I'M LOCKED IN AND I GET DO WITHOUT IT! AHHHRRRRG!

I have observed birds become alert because of my presence and turn their back towards me because they want to fly away from me. But if they are not sure I'm a predator,they will do a slight little turn of their head, looking at me from behind.
Well, I read a small blurp in the paper today that in fact birds know when we are watching them. There was a study done in England on Starlings. The birds would not eat while being looked at. As soon the observer would look away, the Starlings would start feeding. The theory is that birds can tell when we make eye contact with them. When a predator is ready to attack they make eye contact with their prey. So when eye contact is made the bird.it flies away.
However I think there is more to it. I think they can sense an energy. Maybe electric impulses from us that alerts them that danger is near.

WHY THE FUNKY DROUGHT? WELL! FALL, WINTER AND SPRING ARE GOOD SHOOTING! HERE IN SOCAL, FALLWINTERSPRING ARE ALL IN ONE WITH SOME SUMMER DAYS THROWN IN FOR VARIATION. IF I'M LUCKY MAYBE I'LL TRAVEL TO JULIAN FOR SOME FALL COLOR AND NOT SO FAMOUS JULIAN APPLE PIE! OR MAYBE BIG BEAR! YEA! I HAVE TO TRAVEL TO A HIGHER ELEVATIONS TO EXPERIENCE THE SEASONS FULLY. THE GREAT THING ABOUT WHERE I LIVE, IS THAT I HAVE THE DESERT OCEANS AND MOUNTAINS ALL WITHIN AN HOUR AND A HALF DRIVE. AND COULD EXPERIENCE THEM ALL IN THE SAME DAY! SO WHY THE FUNK!!!! Hey that could be a little project. start in the desert at sunrise and end up at the ocean at sunset hey,hey,hey a day in the life! O.K. IT'S IN THE JOURNAL SO I HAVE TO DO IT!
