but ya gotta understand, being at the university of michigan leaves me in an extremely tight bind with artwork. i actually just finished a poster, but it's too big to scan...

besides, i'm also in very slow production of an album i'm producing for yours truly. that's kinda what i want to do in life, is to record music.

I realized that one year ago, I was busy posting the story known as Black Sword, which was quite a success in its own right. However, I'm planning this one to be a little longer and more manga-like.

After all, I was initially considering it to be a manga, but then I realized three things.

1) I can't draw action sequences worth crap.
2) It would take forever to do a chapter.
3) How would I post it here?

So, a story is the best way to go. And it's something I can actually work on during school . I hope you all enjoy it! Chapters will typically be posted every Sunday, unless my schedule completely forbids it like it did this past Sunday. Therefore, chapter 3 should be up this Sunday the 17th.

And haha...Milford took first out of 3...with a 60.25...and Grand Blanc was a point away...West Bloomfield...not even close (Clarkston beat WB by .45...they were in Exhibition)

My punishment was relieved not this past Friday, but the one before that, and it's been pretty great since...

Two band-related stuff:

1) Marching band's kicking ass so far, despite all the strenuous hours of work. For two weeks now, we've taken first place and all three caption awards with scores of 61.8 and 67.6...those ain't too shabby for the first couple weeks, folks...so that's cool...

2) Other band...you know, rock band's goin all right too...but it's kinda a mess right now with positions...and now I realize I gotta ask someone to join...I'll talk to you tomorrow about it, person-to-whom-I'm-referring-to-that-kno ws-how-to-play-guitar...we've got a forum up, anyway, so JOIN AND BOOKMARK IT!!! Anyway, the trip was really cool, and I've saw so many great things. One of the best parts was going up to the tallest mountain in Germany (die
Zugspitze), and I got a couple neat-o pics from there (possibly to post!)

However, I probably picked up some stomach virus thing on the 8 hour plane ride over, so my appetite has been minimal, and I got sick a few times, so I had to miss a day when the group visited Salzburg, Austria. So that wasn't so fun...however, that's just the beginning!

For some reason, I had anxiety problems while sleeping there. Maybe it's because we had to stay up for 30 HOURS STRAIGHT the first night, and then, that evening, one of my roommates that I got stuck with snored like a rusty chainsaw, and I only got 1 hour of actual sleep that evening! Isn't that great? For the first four nights or so, I averaged about two and a half
hours of sleep! But that wasn't the worst!

On the 19th, we visited Neuschwanstein, which is the castle that the Magic Kingdom castle is based off of! After touring the castle, my group of friends decided to take a shortcut back...which involved GOING DOWN A STEEP GRAVEL
HILL...I curse myself now for being such a dumbass...

Anyhow, I apparently slipped on the gravel on the way down, tumbled a bit, and ended up striking the back of my head against a tree...smooth...

Apparently, everyone was worried, and I had to be told things about ten times, because I kept forgetting things...and that's really scary when you can't remember that in itself happening at all...

To make things short, I received a slight concussion! Yippee! But it wasn't so bad, cuz I only forgot the incident itself, and I GOT SLEEP CUZ OF IT!

Well, there's so much to write, but not enough space/time. I got three Bayern München (soccer club) jerseys over there, and those are sweet. And I also got a CD by die Aertze (a German rock band)...

And I had 64 messages for dA when I got home...

Now, I read quite a fair amount of manga, mostly from the primary English-translated manga distributors in the United States - aka Shonen Jump.

Manga, for those who don't know, is (putting it bluntly) like a Japanese comic book, basically. These are used as the roots of the successful anime (Japanese cartoon) series that are on TV very frequently. Shonen Jump, a manga magazine, is sold in book stores monthly, and has a few chapters of various manga (about 7 different manga) every month, but graphic novels, books that have about 10 chapters of one specific manga in it, are also sold at book stores, and usually sell for about $8 or so -- good deal.

The basis of this project is to give you, the deviant, the background of my Top 5 favorite manga, starting with #5 and working to #1. Along with the background story and probably a link to find out more in the author's comments area, I will submit a deviation of the main characters in the certain manga. This is useful in practicing manga/anime style and digital coloring for me. I'd suggest you check out the manga, there will be at least one that can be viewed for free - and for the other ones, go down to a Barnes and Noble or something and take a look at 'em!

I have four of the five currently completed, only #3 still needs to be even started, so I'll post #5 tomorrow.

PREPARE...FOR A SPORTS RANT!

Detroit won last night in somewhat dramatic fashion last night, defeating the Indiana Pacers 69-65 in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Now they advance to the NBA Finals to play the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the win was impressive and also...not so much...

After shooting 19% in the first quarter (including missing some of the easiest shots imaginable), Detroit was very lucky to only be down by 6 at the end of the half. They combined with Indiana to score a combined 60 points, which became the lowest scoring half in NBA playoff history in the shot-clock era. By halftime, you could find me in the bathroom puking.

Hope spawned near the end of the 3rd quarter, only to be sucked away by a last second three-pointer by Indiana. Detroit gained their first lead of the ballgame with four minutes to go in regulation, which greatly relieved me, seeing as how they were down by double digits at one point in the game.

With Tayshaun Prince's block (that everyone talked about, but really didn't mean anything) and jumper that honestly looked like a three, the game wrapped up...but oh yeah...

What an insane weekend, relaxing for Saturday and Sunday (not to mention seeing ROTK for the second time on Saturday and watching the Pistons kick ass on Sunday...), and then do a whole lot of work today. But that's a good thing! I got back into the swing of things art-wise, and that is always needed.

Of course, I haven't really done my homework!

But whatever, it was nice having Memorial Day off today, but it was sort of eerie when I realized that tomorrow begins June as well as the last couple weeks of school! Wow...

What a slow week. Just had matches three days in a row (which isn't a bad thing)...we're getting more work than usual in my classes...and my band candy got STOLEN...don't ask...so life really sucks at the moment...

I haven't worked on the story AT ALL this week. But I'll have one free hour tomorrow, so I'm sure to finish Chapter 16 and Round 4 with it. And don't expect two chapter to be posted on Sunday again...at least for this week...

Friday: Symphony band went to State Band Festival, and holy crap, we got a I! Isn't that amazing?

Total hours spent: Nearly 6.

Saturday: Tennis tournament in Romeo - Athens gets 1st place out of 8 teams, I receive a silver medal in 1 Doubles! Then went to a party...yeah, you know who's it was...the limo was kick-ass and all, but this day was extra-insane.

Total hours spent: 10 for the tournament, 4 for the party.

Sunday: First baseball practice of the year, got reacquainted with foul balls to the mask and sliding catches behind home plate...fun stuff. Then did church stuff...

Total hours spent: 2 for the practice, 5 for church.

Free hours this weekend (including Friday): About 5!

Ah, but all is not lost. Today is Easter and I got to eat chocolate once again. How sweet it is...with emphasis on sweet. I've been playing tennis at Athens...a lot. I think in two days I racked up seven hours there. And I'll be there the whole rest of the week probably...

Some brief updates:

1) I'm the #1 seed on Athens JV tennis, so boo-yah! Our first match Monday against Lake Orion sucked majorly (let's just say the team as a whole got beaten to a pulp, and then got slaughtered some more after that...), so hopefully we'll do better tomorrow (Wednesday) against Farmington.

2) Story's coming along really well, halfway through writing chapter 10. I think I'm going to post chapters on Sundays, so be on the lookout for that. It's turning out quite excellent in my opinion.

3) Yes, I am feeling better. Cough here and there sucks, but it's a lot better. Thanks to those who cared.

4) Spring break soon...need I say more? Actually, I'm goin nowheres, so I NEED PEOPLE TO TALK TO ON AIM...BADLY...cuz I'm not going to Puerto Rico like someone here...

It all started on Thursday at basketball practice, when I collided knees with someone on my team. After it hurt like crap the next day, I decided not to go to tennis practice. Yes, I went to a party later that night, which was a blast. But that was probably the only salvagable part of this weekend!

On Saturday, we lost our last basketball game, which was tough, because honestly - refs jipped us the whole year. I know it's a common excuse, but this is the one time it's true. You don't lose 4-5 games because of lopsided, retarded fouls.

Today now, I woke up, and my back was strained pretty bad and my throat hurt. Later, I got a headache, and voila - a 100.4 temperature! So I'll have to miss school and tennis practice tomorrow!

Getting sick may seem like commonplace, but for those who really know me - I hardly EVER get sick, and much less miss school because of it. I'm quite pissed right now, so for those who actually read this little spiel, thank you for listening.

I'll most likely be on AIM for quite some time after school (around 3:00 on) and I'm gonna need some cheering up. If you could get online and chat with me, I would be most appreciative.

Chapter 5 for Black Sword has been posted...TWO CHAPTERS IN A ROW! I basically wanted to cut straight to the action, and plus the suspense of leaving you all hanging on who Shinyô Himitsu is was just killing me...but trust me, the cliffhanger for Chapter 5 is much more suspenseful...

But besides that, is being kinda lazy and not working on his deviations in the timely manner that I have. Therefore, he will hopefully continue with his series, but don't expect them to be posted nearly simultaneously like they were in the past. Just to get that out of the way.

I sent three of you a note regarding input today that I hope you respond to, because your input will only further my progress with this story!

In another topic, the NCAA tournament has started! Have you filled out your brackets? I'm picking Kentucky, Oklahoma State, North Carolina, and Connecticut for the Final Four, and I'm gonna say that UConn's gonna win it all.

Also, Athens tennis has started up, and I didn't have practice today, and I won't on Friday! Same thing goes for this upcoming Monday, cuz I'll be bowling with some Stevenson kids I'm going to Germany with this summer...so it's gonna be pretty cool.

Well, is doing a story of his own, so I'm gonna be creative too. Our story is called Black Sword, and I'm going to post the first chapter of it just after I post this journal. So, I'm going to supply the story part of it.

is going to supply the art of the story, and will take a scene from each chapter and do that as a deviation. These will be colored with Photoshop and will look really cool. When I post a new chapter, expect the new picture to be posted as well.

Here are the main characters for this story:

The chosen descendant of the Black Sword clan and the son of a famous archaeologist. Uses the Black Sword (well, yeah) in battle.

The chosen descendant of the Red Skull clan, the Black Sword clan's enemy. Uses dark magic in battle.

First off is Gorman for American History 2, 1st hour. I already realize that I miss Mr. Kurilik, my teacher last semester, mostly because of the people in his class. When I first had his class, I thought I'd be in for a long haul, but it didn't turn out that bad. THAT IS NOT THE CASE WITH THIS CLASS, THOUGH. There is no one that I can even say I'm acquainted with them. The class itself is simple, but the people...let's just say if we do a group project, I'm SCREWED.

Next, and last, is Film/Lit with Lucchi, 3rd hour. That's gonna be all right, I guess. Again, easy class, and not too many sophomores, but it's more bearable than my History class. At least we watch tons of movies, so it's going to be quite all right.

Anyway, my vacation was really nice. Didn't get a whole lotta goods on Christmas cuz of huge purchases before the holidays, but it was still nice. Amen for gift cards, though. I get to spend them as money without paying off my $300 debt! So I got NHL 2004 and Madden 2003, WITHOUT SALES TAX, cuz Delaware's just that cool. Actually, it's cuz 0% is their sales tax. But that state's still cool.

HOW THE CRAP DID THE LIONS BEAT THE RAMS?!? I mean...GAH!!! The Rams, if you were wondering are my fave team and WERE my pick to win the Super Bowl. But after this fiasco...ueh...however, being in the Philly area, and having an uncle and cousins who are big Eagle fans, they were pretty pumped about that.

And, yes, I know I was a little late to the party, but I FINALLY SAW LOTR! That movie is so awesome, but I've never known a movie to have so many possible endings. AND WHY THE CRAP DID SAM GET THE BOOK? (along with many other questions not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it)

BAD: I couldn't eat too much on Thanksgiving. Maybe it was because I drank three pops while watching the Lions game? Which, OMG THEY WON! Heh, it's Monday and I'm still pumped about that.

Plus, I'm $100+ in debt to my parents, and I eventually have to pay it off. But that'll be explained in the good stuff.

GOOD: The best part of this past weekend was probably buying an electric guitar, amp, and all those other accessories. Really sweet. And that's why I have that debt. When I get it (ANY DAY NOW!) I'll probably take a digital camera picture or something if you all want to see it. That is, if I get my computer back by then that is " digital camera compatible".

Ahem...

The idea for my project is as follows:

- I will have the deviation set up so that a Homestar Runner character's head will be in the center, with one of their best quotes (or quotes about them if they can't talk, i.e. The Cheat) under the head pic. Around that will be different poses of the character plus your deviant name with an icon-sized thing next to your deviant name.

- I will soon post a sample for this kind of project with Homestar Runner and my deviant name as an example, so you all know generally what to expect.

- WHAT I NEED YOU TO DO:
I need you, if you want one done for you, to COMMENT ON THIS JOURNAL (nothing else) saying what character you want done for you, plus the quote you want under their head. Some notes regarding this:

-- The characters available will be as follows: Strong Bad, Strong Mad, Strong Sad, The Cheat, Coach Z, Bubs, and The Cheat.

-- If someone has already posted a character you want to be, you CANNOT be that same character and you must pic a different one.

Band did well, got the hat I wanted, plus a new CD! 3 Doors Down! And we all know how much I love new CDs...

Except I've got a lot of homework to catch up on, though...

I got all the sketchwork done for the caper, just have to darken the lines and scan at school. It's going to be so awesome. Thanks to for his suggestions on that. You can expect that to be posted about mid-week.

I'll delete then repost the two deviations that didn't post right on Tuesday at the latest. Except this time, "Harming Friends" will be shaded.

I just realized that the scanner at school gives you much smaller file sizes than mine here at home. I might shade and rescan "Harming Friends" and rescan "A Tidal Wave of Marshalade" so you can actually see them.

Hopefully on the 6-7 hour bus ride to Indy, I'll work on "The Food Stand Caper," in which Strong Bad and the Cheat raid Bub's food stand. Yes...I see promise for that one...I might even do some more drawing...hmm...

I'm still practicing for my hopeful project...

Example 1) Dashboard Confessional - The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most

While this album seems acoustic guitar-heavy...it can't be a bad thing! It's nice to actually have Screaming Infidelities and Best Deceptions on an album, considering I can play the latter and am trying to learn the former.

Example 2) Good Charlotte - The Young and Hopeless

Holy crap, this album kicks. Can't get enough of the title track...Say Anything and Girls and Boys are awesome too...

Well, I could talk forever about music, but now for art...

I'm trying to wean myself off of just H*R scenes. So, I'm thinking of starting my own H*R strips. If that's even possible. I'm brainstorming ideas, but if you have one, I'd love to hear it. I'm kinda thinking a football-themed one for the first one...hm...LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS IDEA!

I'm practicing something for my big project...people...in my own anime style, if that's what you want to call it. That's all I'll say about it, I'll post a journal when I officially announce it.

After scrubbing the makeup off my face from my Homestar costume, I barely got any sleep and like that, it was Saturday - state finals! Get to school at 6:40, Silverdome at 8:00 and we were the first band. Of the WHOLE DAY. AT 9:50 A.M. And we were so awesome, but the judges suck and put us behind a band we had beaten. FOR THE WHOLE YEAR. WHOSE SHOW WAS CONFUSING AND POINTLESS. BY 1.65 POINTS!!! So it's kinda retarted, and we got 4th with an 83.1. So now I'm gonna hear a whole bunch of crap on Monday from people who don't know anything about marching band like " Geez, you guys suck...you got 4th?" especially from this one kid that I just want him to shut the f*** up. So, despite the fact that our band marched one of our best shows in school history, unaware people are just going to see the subjective $#!t and disregard the whole thing. Even though we got the best Music Ensemble score out of any band the whole year (even Plymouth) and got over an 83 twice (first time in Athens history). And we thought we were gonna get second...

Damn, I feel really bad...what a letdown.

So, I try relaxing when I get home, but what do I have to do? DRIVING. I HATE DRIVING. It's the #2 on my hate list underneath soliciting. And I somehow have to get in 18ish hours in two months. Crap...plus there's homework tomorrow! GAHHHHHHHH! ( just thinking about it!)

Well, back to the art scene, my art still won't show up and I'm starting to think a faster internet is definitely in order. Although the COMPUTER DOCTOR WON'T CALL US BACK AFTER WE TRY REACHING HIM! Oh my god, I'm so pissed right now.

Requests would be very helpful since I'm out of ideas.

I think the only thing that'll possibly salvage my weekend is LifeTeen mass where I play in a Youth Band, and then I spill my guts to my Youth Group.

I should be posting the "Harming Your Friends" one tomorrow in color and a new Halloween-themed one for Halloween (shaded)! So I haven't been inactive with all this marching band excitement.

Not to mention I just realized I have 200 page views. That's pretty cool.

Halloween parades were a blast, as I give props to for his very awesome costume. Ask him about it if you really want to know, but that was pretty sweet. And my costume went over very nicely as well. If it's no surprise, I'm Homestar Runner, and I even have the spinny thing on top of his head! Not to mention the fact that it spun in the wind, which amused me greatly.

But yes, school is tomorrow, and it's almost the end of the first marking period! Not to mention I'm freezing and tired from tonight's rehearsal.
