Maybe it's just because I've been in a bad mood for the past two days, but I'm toying with the idea of not doing Tiny Toons or Animaniacs-related fan art anymore, Studio Knights included. The whole theft thing really rattled me. (See here if you missed it: [link] ) I mean, if that guy took a few pieces of my art a few months ago, who else could be taking things without asking?

But more than that, I kinda feel like I'm getting typecast. No one pays much attention to the other things in my gallery, which saddens me. It makes me think I can't do anything interesting by myself (even though I only have one or two completely original pieces in my gallery). I can either draw fan art and get positive attention, or I can draw my own creations and get...next to nothing.

But maybe it'll be better in the long run, if I just do my own original things from now on, even if no one cares much about it. Possibly. I don't know. I still need to think it over some more. I doubt I can totally stop drawing fan art anyway.

Or possibly months, considering the speed at which I work...

I'm gonna be doing a lot of experimenting with brushes in Photoshop, mostly, but some other things too. It bothers me that I've been drawing for practically my whole life and I don't have much of an established style. Or, if I do have one, I'm not really happy with it.

A pencil and piece of paper are my absolute favorite tools, period. I don't really need much else. But scan them, and no matter how high the resolution is or what settings are put on it, the resulting scan's gonna have a fuzzy rough look to it. This didn't bother me much before, but it does now for some reason.

What I want to do is either have a cleaner, more cel-shaded look, or find a brush set that actually works with my pencil lines instead of against them. I'll probably switch back and forth wildly between the two until I find a method I like.

Oh, and I started taking up Subeta art commissions again after all, for those who play it. Still working on the two I have right now, though.

Ides of March? Pfft. The Ides of April are what I dread. Usually that's just because I have to do my own taxes, but this year I got slammed with all kinds of things. For most of this month, there's been very little "neutral" stuff going on in my life. It's all either been really fantastic or really horrible. As most of you who watch me have probably figured out, this was severely detrimental to my art production. Most days I didn't even want to pick up a pencil, and when I did, nothing but crap ensued and I quickly got frustrated and stopped. (Stopped. Not quit. I will never ever *quit* drawing. )

Some of the horrible stuff I'm not comfortable discussing in a journal that's visible to the public. Family issue, for example. Let's leave it at that. Also I'm about ready to tear my bank a new one for sheer incompetence. Work hasn't been bad exactly, but has been incredibly tedious and mind-numbing. The schedule changed dramatically this week, which threw me off. It didn't help that whoever made the schedule forgot to take my lunch time into consideration one day. Thank god we're going back to the old schedule starting this week.

But like I said before, this month hasn't been all angst and frustration. Awesome stuff's also happened - the main one being Little Big Planet. My roommate got this game not too long ago, and it is quite frankly one of the best video games I've ever played in my entire LIFE. It is pure, undiluted AWESOMESAUCE. Just Google it, because no description I can give will do it any justice. I've also bought some new music and some new books, which so far I've thoroughly enjoyed. And for some weird reason, I've become addicted to watching old episodes of Jem. I didn't pay attention to it when I was a little girl - I was more of a My Little Pony and Care Bears type back then - so I don't know why I like it now. Granted, Jem wasn't the best cartoon ever made, and probably the only reason it was made in the first place was to sell merchandise, but for what it is, it's surprisingly good.

Anyway, long story short, this wound up being a much longer hiatus than I planned, but at least now you kinda know why. Sorry about that. I'll make myself get back on track soon or die trying. *I still cannot take requests at this time, I've got plenty to work on already.*

Current Project list

I even tried it - and holy crap, IT IS. I should have freaking done this years ago. I've actually got almost all of Chapter One's comics laid out in a little notebook that I carry with me everywhere.

At this stage in my life, I really wish I had a completely original comic series to work on. But I don't, at least nothing I can work with for any length of time or with any real substance to it. My only really solid, GOOD story and character ideas are tied up in Studio Knights and Chronicles of Omoiyari, the other comic I mention on that list. Pathetic. But I'm gonna work on these, get them out of my head and onto paper, and hopefully once I've cleared them out something better will take their place.

Thanks, everyone. Here we go.
Is it just me, or has DA been uber-buggy today? First I see my comments gone this morning. Then tonight I tried to upload the third page of the A-x comic, but couldn't because the category selection whatsit is broken. Now I'm not even sure if this journal entry will go through.

...oh good, it did. That's a relief. Still irritated about not being able to upload things, though.

EDIT: Guess things are working again, for now. =\
