i am a rat and this is my year so i hope it is going to be good for me.

i had an excelllent new year in frankfurt. probably my best new year ever in fact. the germans certainly know how to celebrate it. the germans do a lot of things better than we do here. the british government have imposed such a nanny state on us that i hadnt even realised how bad we have it as far as individual freedoms goes until i saw how good it was over there. it is so laid back and because of that people are in general a lot more responsible for the safety of themselves and others. on new years eve the streets were full of drunken revellers letting off fireworks all over the place. there was broken glass everywhere and many many fireworks and absolutely no violent stupid ENGLISH behaviour and nobody getting injured. everyone was having a great time, myself included. that kind of thing just wouldnt happen here. i loved it and i could quite easily stick two fingers up at england and move there. if only the language wasnt so difficult haha¬

so yeh im pretty happy and chilled out. things are good. life is good. but i still need a job hehe

oh, and a significant other would be nice, but you cant have everything!

when i got back from scotland i realised to my utter dismay that i had overexposed most of my shots of ben nevis by leaving the iso on 1600. it was pretty dim light in the foothills. a lesson learnt the hard way :S it pissed me off but i won't do it again. as for ben nevis i will definitely do it again. probably go up in summer by the Carn Mor Dearg (CMD arete) - proper ridge walking! then again in winter with ice axes and crampons. anyone fancy joining me?

we raised nearly £200 for charity, which is nice!

city life doesn't do it for me anymore, far too claustrophobic. need to get away again already lol

i've joined the club, the canon eos club

its so lovely. so far i only have one lens, an 18-55mm that came with the camera. i have been looking at new lenses but it is very hard to chose between them. if anyone has any helpful experience of lenses for the eos i would be very grateful to hear them. i want one that is good for close macro work and also a good telephoto lens. i don't know if there is one lens that does both well. i dont really want to have to carry round too many lenses (or pay for them either, ouch!).

i try very hard to keep up with DA but it isnt easy these days. everytime i log on there are new features. i now have 5000+ images to look at in my watch. i cant bear to delete them without seeing them. other random complaints.

i'm moving house soon, looking forward to that.

geek news i got a new mouse, without a tail. it has lots of buttons and it controls winamp too. it also has four way scrolling, which is nice. especially on full view pics!

i have taken some new photos. i found it very hard to get enthusiasm as i didnt feel like i had anywhere to go with photography. of course this is totally wrong and naive of me a thing to think. if you care to look at my new submissions, i would appreciate any comments, but especially constructive criticism, to help me improve or find new directions to go in. thanks for your help and thanks for sharing your art with me.
