So. I'm going to lecture.. if you will.

Listen if you dare.


I find that the issues most upcoming artists have involve hands, folds, and achieving a believable skin color. Anatomy is not hard to learn and imagine at all. One simply has to understand the skeleton, the porportions, and how skin and muscle and meat all achieve a three dimensional form. Trust me. Anatomy is NOT hard.

It's not. I'm sorry. I had to tell you. I didn't mean to break your heart. Drawing and re-drawing a person that someone else drew or from a photo is the easiest way to learn. The hardest way would be to draw from the imagination. But if you are the brave and ever so clever soul, you would draw your anime character, and compare it to a picture with an anatomy that you admire. For example, I am fucking in LOVE with 's anatomy. I still draw my own shit, but I learn from her pictures. It's how I taught myself.

Drawing realistic humans is another story.

Folds are probably the hardest thing to grasp, especially when drawing anime simply because you have to imagine the fabric falling over someone's body. After a while, you get the hang of it and you manage to make educated guesses.

But for some reason, even after achieving a decent anatomy in a figure, I find that several artists STRUGGLE DESPERATELY with skin color.
Once again, I'm going to burst your bubble.

Skin is not "brown" or "tan" or "white". It's never just ONE color. Unless you are an alien... or pale.
I won't chastise those who use brown to shade their human, because if that's your style.. hey.... so be it.

But those who are struggling.. I will let you in on a secret. Skin color is nothing but layers and layers of pigment. Pigment that is combined in such a way, that is produces the APPEARANCE of tan or white or pinkish. This is science.
So, instead of denying science, why not color the same way in say, Photoshop? Or when one paints using oils or acrylic?

The SECRET to achieving a believable skin color is through the use of layering colors and adjusting the opacity (in real life or in Photoshop. Either works the same).

By examining skin, you will find that for someone with a lighter skin color, there are pinks, pale purples, light browns, reflections of color from other objects, grays, whites, yellows, oranges. If the person is tan, there are oranges, browns, yellows, reds, and deeper purples and blacks.

Darker skinned people have a different pigment makeup. There are of course darker browns and blacks, but also (again) the purples and oranges so commonly seen in skin. Grays are typically evident in a darker person's skin. How on earth do I know the general color makeup of skin?

This man is not tan. Sorry ladies. As an artist, one must learn how to break down the colors you see. Practicing how to distinguish realistic colors from real people will train you GREATLY when practicing with Photoshop, whether you are merely doing an anime character, or a digitial portrait.

What colors can you pick out? Be careful though. She has beautiful olive skin, but even she has the purples. Her dominant color is a very pale yellow, with layers of dark brown and a dark, but pale purple that shadows her face. If I were to CG this photo, I would start with a 100% opaque layer of pale yellow. And when I mean pale, I mean pale. Most new artists make the mistake of using vibrant and bright colors to start out with skin. For beginners, using pale colors at first and learning how to layer them is the best way. Only until one masters that can they move on to the cheat sheet way.

To achieve radical skin colors like this, you are going to HAVE to start out with a bright, lively orange. Then you would add your light pinks, your browns, your brownish-greens, your whites, and of course, your blacks. You could add purples if you wanted to, but with this skin color, it wouldn't be necessary. high school is finally over... and ive never been more happy..

but... ive also never cried so much.. been stressed so much.. and been so upset/angry/emo/pissed ever in my life than in high school.

high school is such a bitch.
people are immature... people segregate themselves... people are close-minded.. people judge... people do stupid shit like get drunk and do drugs... people (especially girls) try to fight each other everyday at school.. and teachers can be so mean and weird the last year of school.

so... a fair warning to those being a senior..or entering high school: YES, PEOPLE WILL HATE YOU, TRY TO FIGHT YOU, TREAT YOU LIKE SHIT, IN SOME CASES ACTUALLY TRY AND KILL YOU, JUDGE YOU, PUT YOU DOWN, AND PEOPLE WILL BE IGNORANT.

its weird tho... its one of those days that you dont really care for and it seems that everyone just gets on my nerves.


but.. i feel kinda bad too.

i guess ive been a little mean lately to some people. i dont mean it tho.. i think of it as tough love.

i have a friend who missed a day of school towards the beginning of the week... and she was rushing to finish a project due today at the end of class... and she asks me to clean her mess and im like.. "dude.. no... you always do this. you always wait til the last minute.. and then you ask us to clean up your messes. its ANNOYING."

sad thing is.. its true. :/ i took my project home and worked on it... and i KNOW she couldve done the same. thats why i was a little pissed at her.

but.. i guess i couldve done that little thing for her.
oh well.. whatever. i told her i was sorry about it. hopefully shell forgive me.

my brother is REALLY pissing me off. i decided to play the Sims yesterday because i hadnt played it in so long.. and he decides he wants to play it also... so he cries to mom and begs her to make me share the game or whatever.
needless to say.. i got really upset because he wasnt even thinking about the game until i decided to play it that day.
so.. i let him install it on the computer downstairs.. but i didnt tell him any of the cheat codes so he cant get any money XD HAHAHA *evil* lol. he cant even enjoy the game~! hes gotta play the hard way which is how it should be.

i was a little upset that this girl won the poetry out loud competition because she was WAY too dramatic with the poem. nobody in the audience liked it.. :/ and i was disappointed in the judges. i thought maybe theyd choose someone a little bit more sincere... but they chose the one that nobody liked. ... interesting..... this world...

theres this creeper... in one of my classes... and hes really weird. he likes every single girl in this school.. and he has a huge crush on me even though i have a bf. hes always lurking around me.. gawd its creepy... and on valentines day.. he made a BIG mistake.

he basically tried to convince me that i didnt care for my boyfriend.

i basically cussed his ass out. it really irked me.. and im still mad at him for it... he has NO idea what my relationship with PNGL is like so he has no idea how strongly i feel about him.

there used to be this huge, colossal spider right outside my window. she had a web and everything... even had a couple of flies in her web. her web literally took up my whole window.... and she looked like a wolf spider.. but i know thats not possible.

anyway.. i found her because she was sitting in the middle of her web which just so happened to be in the middle of my window~

i kinda hated her at first... mainly because the only spiders i tolerate are tarantulas and she was DEFINITELY NOT a tarantula.. too scrawny in the legs to be one...

but shes been in my window for about three days... just sittin there... waitin for the flies to come in... and a couple of them did too.... the poor suckers. just dead.

but this morning.. she wasnt there.... and i think... IM HOPING its because its really friggin cold outside. :/ she left all of these flies in her web... so either she died.. or she abandoned it...

she didnt come back after school cause i checked.... and even now she isnt back... so im thinking she went to the spider bar or somethin... got drunk and fell asleep.

i really do hate it.. but what i hate more is the fact that fangirls and fanboys harass the people with the skill and try to pressure them to draw things and do things they dont want to.

it really lovely fucking pisses me off.

for starters, im not the best in the world.

THERE IS NO BEST IN THE WORLD.

everyone has the strongholds and their lackings. for me, im lacking in color usage and i know it. i wish i was better at coloring, but im WORKING ON IT. im not sitting on my ass at all; im doing the best i can and im practicing. im lacking in backgrounds... but im working on it.

dont tell me what to draw.. dont tell me to draw in the first place because YOU HAVE NO IDEA the time i spend everyday just doodling~ but i choose not to post because I DONT WANT TO NEITHER DO I HAVE THE TIME. SO STFU. thank you.

i hate it when people say that they suck at drawing or whatever.

in all reality, you dont have the guts to get better because you give up before you even try.

take me for instance. i DID NOT start out like . no one does. she even didn't.

people need to learn how to differentiate between true talent and self-learned talent. I AM SELF-LEARNED TALENT. i taught myself how to draw and CG... i definitely wasnt born with the artistic skill.... i was born with a writing and a singing skill that i decided not to pursue.... instead.. i trained myself to get this far.. i taught myself how to use oil paints and i certainly learned how to master charcoal and canvas and acrylic. come to georgia and look at my realistic gallery and see for yourself~! i taught myself anime.. and digital media like photoshop and opencanvas.. (i still havent mastered opencanvas or photoshop... but atleast i know some techniques T___T *in progress* )

i taught myself how to make websites. i taught MYSELF everything. there are no shortcuts, so stop hoping for one. IF I HAD TO LEARN ON MY OWN, THEN SO DO YOU. there is no "cheating" or "magic button that will shade and CG for you"....


we all had to learn the hard way.... but what distinguishes true artists from mere copycats is the PASSION and DEDICATION to the art.


SO SHUT THE FUCK UP, GET YOUR PENCIL AND PAPER, AND START DRAWING IF IT MEANS THAT MUCH TO YOU.

i literally slaved to get where im at now... and im still slaving because i know i could be better. if you loved it, youd slave too.... but since you dont, stfu.

if all you do is draw all day, then MY CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU because YOU, UNLIKE OTHERS, TRY AND YOU CONTINUE YOUR DRAWING SESSIONS RATHER THAN QUITTING AND BITCHING.

who says imagination is limited to paper? is it so wrong to admire someone thats fiction?

is it wrong to let fiction be real? even if only for a moment?
why do people criticize stories.. and characters...? just because they don't exist doesn't mean they aren't real in my heart...

just because you cant see it.. doesnt mean its not there...

thats how i know DearS is a true manga. people think its a rip off of Chobits... but i disagree. if it leaves my heart feeling like this..

if it makes me feel a sense of completion and sheer happiness..

and im dreading it. ill be 17... but i dont want to be older. i want to be YOUNGER. i want to be 6 again...

... its funny because ive been trying not to think about it.. ive been trying to forget my birthday. ive been setting up schedules and things to do on that day so i wont even think about it. but so many people that know my birthday (family, bf, friends) are so ecstatic. they want to take me out to eat.. do this and that and i dont want it i guess.

id rather be left alone. i was thinking maybe id just do homework essays and data sheets since they need to do be done.

i was trying not to focus on how pitiful i was by doing this...

but then my cousin called me a few minutes ago, and it dawned on me.

it dawned on me that i have no life of my own. my life is dedicated to my studies.

... i tried SO HARD to put that out of my head.... but she reminded me.

she asked me "SO. what are you doing tonight for halloween?"
me: ".... uhm.. homework"
she: ".... FUN. *sarcasm*..... what are you doing for your birthday?"
me: "........................... uhhm... i actually have a lot of homework and projects to do on thursday (yeah.. i book homework into my schedule BEFORE hand).... but my dad is coming down for the weekend so ill spend my weekend with him."

but ever since then.. my family's been haggling me about being an architect.

architecture is NOT for me.

it just isnt.

i HATE lines.

i HATE planes.

i HATE geometry.

so why would i do that to myself? i dont care if it makes big bucks. its not what i want...

graphic design is my thing. its what ive always been good at and loved so.. why are they making my life miserable?

i hate how theyre trying to live my life for me.
i should be able to go where i want and do what i want.
love who i want and live how i want.
not according to them.

i don't care what they have to say. if they dont think being a graphic designer is a credible job.. then they can die. if they want to.

it doesn't matter because as soon as i graduate from high school.. im moving out ASAP and getting my own apartment and im NEVER RETURNING. not even for christmas.

i want them all to understand that.

theyve made me bitter all of my life... so now im returning the favor.

mainly because the college i want doesn't require you to live on campus... she wants me to have the "college experience"

but personally..


i could a flying fuck about "college experience"

who cares? i don't care if its "fun".

i want my own apartment where i can do what i want and i dont have curfew and i can be independent.

but noooooo.
i have to go to UGA where they make you stay on campus for a year. she says im "lowering my standards" but wanting to go to Georgia State..

but in all reality... they have the same merit in my opinion. GS has a GREAT art department just like UGA...

i dont want to stay on campus. PLUS.. GS is CHEAPER than UGA. so why is she trying to pay all that money if im not going to enjoy it?

im trying to get OUT of school... not live in it. i hate the logic in it. whoever vreated the whole "college experience" idea needs to be shot.

school started August 14th i think for Gwinnett County, Georgia. o_o

most of you guys dont start til like.. today XD.. but i know that georgia starts in august.

but uhm. :/
most of you guys are asking for art..
but.. i really need you guys to just bear with me here.

im taking three AP classes.. one honors... one college prep.. and an art class.

and if you dont know what AP is.. its basically a college-level based class that requires a butt load of work. but because of its difficulty, you get 10 points added to your grade for that class XD

as of now.. ive got AP Literature.. AP Statistics.. and AP Spanish. all of which are kickin my ass up and down the aisles of life.

so yeah... PLEASE try and understand where im coming from. o_O i barely have time to check other peoples art much less make my own.

its hard trying to balance a life, a boyfriend, school, the playstation, art, and DA all at once.... i havent even touched my website Auror Prime in like.. o_o i dunno.. 7 or 8 months. its been a while.. but nothing comes to mind when i sit down and get some paper and a pencil.

so i guess my next excuse is my art block x_X. i seriously dont feel creative. school and AP Lit is taking all the creative juices out of me and putting them on paper. D: my art class, Printmaking/Graphic Design, isnt so bad tho. i hate the teacher but i loveeeee the cllassss ommggg. *foams*

and i read books n things~ and painted a little.... roasted marshmellows outside and made (or... attempted) s'mores~ XD i built a couple of fires here and there BUT HEY. THATS JUST ME BEIN A PYRO.

but what was MOST unforgettaBLE WAS WHEN WE HAD TO MAKE A SMALL TRIP TO WALMART. (woah caps... sorry *too lazy to retype that* ) XD we were all settled in the cabin on the top of this mountain right? and it turns out.. we forget something. so we drive about 30 minutes to walmart. :]

and well.. my familys black right? (BUT IM MIXED... LONG STORY KTHX.) SO UMM. YEAH. we walked into walmart.. and everybody stared XDDDDDD!!!!!!!! IT WAS HILARIOUS.

I STARTED LAUGHING SO DAMN HARD. it was.. so great cause im sure they havent seen a black person in like.. two or three months XD. there were A LOT of hispanics tho... but NO BLACK PEOPLE. the only black person i saw.. was on a billboard. in walmart. :///D anywho.. i saw irony in that so i laughed at it.

cause i laugh at irony. : D.... *so unoriginal* maybe its cruel for me to bring that up.. but i swear. the look on their faces was PRICELESS. :]!!! id go back just to do it again. XDDDDD... and dont get me wrong :/ im not saying theyre racist or anything.. or theyre prejudice... its just they SERIOUSLY probably havent seen a black person in AGES. XD hence the looks we got...
