I saw that on a T-Shirt yesterday, and i've realised just how much it applies to me. I have 5 major digital art projects on my computer in various stages of incompletion. I keep starting new ones as i get ideas, and i just never get around to finishing the old ones +_+

A pretty interesting year I must reflect. In summary:
-1 music festival (Big Day Out)
-4 music concerts (Josh Pyke, Dappled Cities Fly + Red Riders, Expatriate + The Cops, MUSE)
-one friend turned foe
-about 5 new friends
-last year at my current school
-first formal (and limo ride )
-victory for my school house
-teaching swimming
-the first pleasant christmas in a long time.

etcetc. You probably don't want to hear the rest eh?

Next year should be.... interesting also. I'll be in my last year of school, at a new school, so they'll undoubtedly be even less action on DA then there was this year. Bummer.

I also just noticed that my pageviews crept over 3000. Thankye muchly good people

I'll condense my gifts for you. You see, most of them I got recently, so they're unofficial birthday presents:

1. The new computer that i mentioned before

2. A new fancy pants perpetual motion Tissot watch

3. A handmade book cover thing from my sister.

AND THE BEST EVER:

4. Last Sunday i went to Dappled Cities Fly's concert. It was absolutely awesome. The Red Riders were there too, and so were Fire! Santa Rosa! Fire!. They're all Australian bands, so you probably don't know them, but believe me, they're really good. Not very mainstream, so the venue was quite intimate and we could get really close up. DCF were headlining, so they did their set last, and they kicked off at about 10pm (after the other two bands had finished)

So, we're in the front row, right next to the stage in this intimate gig (my sister and i), and we get the idea to flog a set list after the show. They're on the stage packing up their gear...

And the bass player, Alex, handed out his setlist to some random near him, and i was getting all upset because i wanted one goddammit! lol. i wasn't actually that vexed. but i was intending to scab that one off him .
Anyway, people are beginning to clear off. So, i ask Alex nicely "do you happen to have any other setlists floating around?" And he goes in search of one. He finds one, under some things, and i think it was the drummer's. And he says to me "do you want it signed?" And i was stunned! HELL YEAH!

So, he goes on a quest to 1: find a pen and 2: track down all 4 other band members. Meanwhile, Tim, the lead singer is hanging around, packing up his stuff and we got to have a chat with him. And we got our photos taken with him (he's quite a good looking one). That's the great thing about unknown bands... they're happy to indulge their fans.

Alex returns, and he has all the signatures, with some writing on it too. We would have been the only people that night to come away with every member's signature.


So, in a word, i was stoked. Absolutely speechlessly happy.

I've since framed it and put some photos around it in my room

I like high heels. I'm 6 feet in high heels. Hehe.... that annoys my short male friends.

We got a new computer recently . I am in love with it's 19 inch flat, purdy screen. So, now i can do art at this computer, which makes me inexplicably happy.

Exam's are coming up. In fact, I really should be revising right now.

I'm going to see Dappled Cities Fly in concert on the 24th of June. That's the Sunday after exams finish.

My birthday's on the 26th of June. I'm going to be sixteen. That makes my ID nearly 2 years out of date. Don't forget to say Happy Birthday to me!

My DA birthday's on the 29h of June. I think i should make myself a new ID.

The beginning was fairly mundane, with me washing my hair, but at about 2pm, we went to our city's festival centre, and saw a free performance by Josh Pyke. Now, for those who don't know, Josh Pyke is a nifty Australian musician.

It was a very intimate hour+ performance (with an attendance of under 150 people would be my guess), and best of all, it was free. Half way through, he said that he was going to call is mother up on his mobile, it being Mother's Day and all, and on the count of three, the whole audience was to shout out "happy mothers day!". He rang, got the message machine, and we left our little message machine. Then he's like "yeah, i'd like to see my sister's top that shit!".

Later, midway through another song, he just stops and is like: "um, this is really embarrassing, but my phone's ringing". So, just like that he answers his mobile, and it's his friend Dan. After getting everyone in the audience to shout "Hey Dan!", he apologised and said he'd call him back later. Then he started telling us stories about Dan. Then he redid the song.

He did surprisingly well, considering he had the flu... but to compensate for the few off notes, he played a brand new song. Never played before. Very good.

There were other jokes in the performance, but there's no point me relaying everything he said word-for-word.


Outside, there was a little marketty thing happening. I walked past a guy who had a table of hair pin things, and the stall owner said to me "oh! You have marvelous hair! let me show you these pins!". (imagine that with a very heavy french accent). I was like, "...sure". He wrapped my hair (waist-length, hence the attention), and put it up in a bun/french twisty thing. It looked very cool.... and i would've bought one of his pins, but they were 50 bucks a piece, which was a little out of my price range. (pin isn't quite an adequate word. they were curved soldered metal with shaped details, with a spike that poked through to attach it to the hair)


After, my sister and I traipsed over to Borders, and i bought "Dappled Cities Fly" limited edition album "Granddance". I love them. (they're australian too... from sydney).


Anyway, in conclusion, it was a great day.


Oh yeah, i might just mention that i actually submitted a new deviation! Please please, hold your applause

It's been raining for about 4 days straight! I'm sure you don't understand the significance of that, but Australia's currently in drought conditions, and has been for several years.... and it reached a crisis point. It's a bit rich to call it "drought-breaking" rain, but it's pretty darn close! For us, (and I think we've reached level 4 water restrictions?) it's wonderful. So, do a little happy dance!

In that time, my cats have pretty much forgotten what rain was, and they're not very happy about this stuff that leaves their fur wet. They kind of glare at us as if to say "turn it off!".

It's nearly the end of the holidays... there's nothing much worth reporting in my life at the moment, except my school's formal is this Friday. Exciting!

Art-wise: Yeah, I've done a few paper sketches, but haven't felt motivated to finish any pictures. I've got a couple incomplete ones on my desktop, and maybe one day I'll finish them

As a result, i was a little depressed today, as my head swills through it's thoughts and lets them swirl and be examined from multiple angles. My chest felt heavy this morning.... Away from the internet. Tell me; how is your real life? It seems most of the people i know are going all emo on me at the moment. People are talking about how their life sucks. I can tell you this: everybody's life sucks at some point, so, if you're thinking something along the lines of "oh-woe-is-me", it's really nothing out of the ordinary. Just recognise it as either teenage angst, or, if that's not applicable, then just general bad happenings. And when you do that, life gets better. Well, really, life is still crappy, but your outlook on that crap can make it seem golden.

If you're not starving or in financial trouble, have at least one person who loves you, then you're in a better situation than you can imagine. So, cheer up, and imagine the rainbows.

Whoever you are, I love you.

But, despite me saying that, i was surprised at my ability to wake up, look half-decent and be civil to everyone. And i swear, when you get up at a rediculous hour, it changes your perspective of time (at least, it does for me). So, when i look at a clock, and it says 6:36 PM (which it does), i think: "wow, i've been up for 13 1/2 hours". Then i think: "damn, i'm going to be tired tomorrow".

The moon last night was very pretty. Well, this morning. It was big and it was either full, or so-close-to-full-that-it-basically-was. And when the sun started to rise at the other side of the sky, it was very pretty.

And when we came back home at 7:15 am (just in time to have a bit more breakfast and leave again for school), the air just felt so much fresher than it normally does. I think once you adjust to the cold (or if you're smothered with warm clothes), that you ignore the icy qualities of the wind and appreciate the "fresh-ness".

Speaking of warm clothes, a friend of our family knitted me a scarf for my birthday. It's pretty! (Green with silver sparkly bits)

Tomorrow, i have what is known as a "math olympiad". 10 questions to do in: get this... 4 HOURS! Man, not nice. And to think my math teacher also wanted me to go to a math quiz night tonight... No way hose-eh. I'm way too behind in my homework because of the student's stay... let alone i'd need some kind of illegal drug to keep me alert enough to answer mathematical questions. +_+

Like i said, i'm going to be tired tomorrow.

6. I am really obsessed with the Killers... even my subconsious is obsessed with them! I had a dream about them the other night. Since Phillip Seymore Hoffman keeps on getting all the awards, his performance had better been pretty damn good. Because, from what i saw yesterday, i don't understand how Joaquin Phoenix didn't get best actor. He's such a good actor, and yet he receives little to no recognition.

1 - Get better at realism (because at the moment it's crappy)
2 - Do more art
3 - Do less school work, but maintain grades (that'll be hard) to have more "me" time
4 - Finally get my site working , and keep it active
5 - Become more well known? (maybe.. not really a life aspiration)
6 - Finish that Marat Safin picture i drew a year ago -_-
7 - Write more (as in creative writing stuff. I never seem to do that anymore)
8 - Practice the flute more
9 - Swim heaps. Improve fitness
10 - Top my Year level for at least 1 term

This morning, i patted him for what was to be, the last time ever. We knew he was sick, and in the last few days he had been getting worse. Yesterday, we couldn't get him to eat, and he was finding hidy-holes around our house, to just curl up and starve in, an instinct from the wild. The little food that he did manage to eat he vomitted. He was taken to the vet today while i was at school, and i knew it was a possibility that he might die, and i would come home to a house without him.

I spent a long time crying this morning, and i tried my hardest not to cry at school, even when i wanted to.

He was very sick. He had lost a lot of weight, and couldn't eat. He had a really low white cell blood count, and cat AIDS (which is very different to human aids).He had to be put down. If he wasn't, he would have lived another 2 weeks, and died of starvation.

There's a simple cross in our backyard where he is buried.

3 years old. He was pretty much a kitten, and deserved so much more.. He came to us as a stray, and he was the first one. He came into our garden starving, and little by little, he became tame. He had the most beautiful green eyes and was a very pretty cat. He spent all his time looking out for other cats, and i mean that. At night, he would go out and round them all up, and when any cat was sick outside, he would be the one leading us to them, so we could feed and care for them. He used to come up to me if i was reading in my room, just for a cuddle.

He deserved so very much more. I just wish he could have lived longer, rather than have his life taken from him, by a disease that he got from being bitten by another.

Why is it, that the life is taken from the nicest?

I really love my pets, and the loss of any will cause grief for a long time.

People deal with grief and sadness in different ways. I just cry.

So now, i cry.

A few days ago i saw Wallace & Gromit, the curse of the were-rabit. It was funny . I recommend it!

but, to the main point of this journal. i want to discuss the people on Australian idol, because i can, and the judges opinions are fustrating me. I'll go through each of them in no particular order.

The contestents:
Emily: I think she is absolutely awful. Particulary this week. Every powerful note she did was sharp, and i thought the song was bad, her outfit was bad, her voice was bad (and her boyfriend behaved like a neanderthal)... yet, mark gave her a touchdown!! It was crap! -_-

Ann: She can sing, but she really annoys me. She acts all "oh, i'm so sweet and girly girly". And she's either faking it, or is really like that. If she's faking it, then that's just plain annoying. If it's how she really is, then it's a worry and is even more annoying! -_-

Dan (dreddy-boy):Is absolutely legendary. he's my absolute favourite and has been since he did Unchained melody. not much more to say.

Dan (the other one ): I think he's good. He gives a good performance every time (in my opinion). Not much more to say. he's really good too!

Kate: She's good at singing, but she just doesn't capture (i can't think of another word) me.

Milly: Is absolutely amazing for being 16, but she wants to finish school, and if she is our idol, she won't be able to release any songs... what's the point of that?

Nick: I don't mind him. he can sing, but i often don't like the songs he chooses. The main reason i like him is because he stood up for lee, and showed himself to be really loyal, and for that, i admire him. He can't dance though. As my sister says, if he was just singing (and tied onto the stage, to prevent all movement), he would be great.

Lee: He doesn't have a great voice, but that doesn't matter, because he sings rock songs, and he does them well. He gives a good performance, and that's why people like him. I don't like the staples in his face though -_-. He's just ok. But i think that mark really should've backed off. He attacked him for singing a Green Day song, and not dedicating himself to the lyrics. On national TV, he can't say that he hates President Bush (if he does), and current governments. He just can't, if he wants to get votes and keep everyone happy. And then Mark goes and attacks him for giving a diplomatic answer! How stupid! -_-

The judges:
Mark: Generally he's good, but i'm re-thinking that opinion: especially after he attacked Lee, and then gave Emily a touchdown -_-

Marsha: She's just nice. She's really needed. She almost always managed to complement people. I've only ever seen her be midly rude once, and that's when she was dealing with a real egomanic... -_- However, she often really likes people that i really dislike.

Kyle: I think Kyle is an absolute imbecile. He has an awful taste in music, an awful taste in fashion and an awful personality. He's unbareably rude to everyone, and when he's nice to a few select people, its because he think's they're "sexy", and they're always the ones i hate (ie. Ann). -_-

I've had two days of school due to illness... and i'd take a third off; if it weren't the last day of term! Tomorrow i'll probably have 3 tests (and countless other things i've missed). 1 for Science (which was today), one for English and one for Sose (which i was gonna have on friday anyway). I've also got an assignment due tomorrow for both sose and english. How much does that suck? Haven't our teachers realised that the last day is for chaotic packing up, and not heavy work? ah well. i'll get over it.

And as for this cold, my ears have been blocked for a full 2 days, and i've had temperatures on and off. At the moment i can't decide whether i'm hot, warm or cold... And i missed out on BDO... (a class lunch and bludging). And i really wanted a bubble tea too.

World Vegetarian day is this saterday. i was going to make a big deal of it at school, but now i don't think i will. I'll just keep my diary open for long enough so taht people notice that it's absurdly coloured... and ask me why

I really should be writing a brief history of Florence, but i'm procrastinating. The annoying thing is, when you're sick, you don't feel like doing anything other than being a sloth. And when that's not possible... it sucks! -_-

One thing i did do while i was sick: i started and finished a gameboy colour game (The legend of Zelda, Oracle of Seasons). I've already finished it, but i just sat and wore down my thumbs for a long time... The joys of procrastination

Do you know what's really annoying me at the moment? In america, they're comparing the hurricane to 11/9. To me that's just rediculous. cheese and chalk. sure, there are a lot of casualties in both... but one just wiped out two buildings, and the other has completely flattened a city, which will take years to rebuild, if it's possible. Does this seem like an accurate comparison to you? If there's a better comparison, it's the 26/12 tsunami, but then again, that had a lot of casualties. thousands. i'm not sure if the hurricane can rival that.

yesterday, i went with my family to see the movie "what the bleep do we know" it was GREAT. It was about quantum physics, and also about the power of our brains and emoths... and it was all based on real things! it was almost more a documentry than movie, but it was really good. those who know me at school will have to listen to me rabbiting on about it.

today, after i got up and got my presents, i went to see "the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy"... and that was great toO! marvin rawks, and i will be doing some fanart soon... i can feel it. i saw that with my dad.. and i was lucky because i thought it was no longer out at the cinema , and i was diing to see it there. anyway, i'm happy.

i guess that means i'll need to have a new id then...

Last night... i went to see... *drumroll*

STARWARS #3!



WARNING --- CONTAINS SPOILERS



I thought it was absolutely spectacular... but, as my sister says, george lucas seriously screws up the scene where padme dies... no body cried... shocking.

When anakin was turned into a human slug, i couldn't help but think of monty python... "it's only a flesh wound!". i started lauging at that.

and when anakin had his little "no" outburst... i absolutely cracked up... thankfully the sound was very loud, so no one in the cinema (bar my sister) heard me...

but i was thinking about all the colour symbolism in the movie... i mean, there's red which is obviously the bad side... blood, death and all that. and then there's green, which is the colour of yoda, and yoda's light saber. And... for those who know the colour wheel, green is the oposite colour to red! So, we have a duel between yoda and the sith lord... with two oposites entirely... yes, i know thats all obvious.

then when anakin's dueling with obi... their sabers are both blue, indicating that they're on an equal playing field, with equal talents... and as soon as he went back to padme in the spaceship... there were two coils in the background. one red, and one blue... indicating that anakin now had the red saber.

i know those examples are pretty basic... but there's hundreds of them in the film.

the lamest line in my opinion: "i can't watch anymore" said by obi... and ewan said it so badly.

best character: the one, the only YODA! when he wiped out the guards over his shoulder with his force field... everyone laughed in the cinema... because YODA RAWKS.

best sence: when there were two duels going on... that was exciting. how yoda and the sith lord were fighting in the senate, symbol for the war between democracy and the new empire.

Anywhoo... i think the whole thing is only temporary, and the other girl's fight will clear up, and then everything will be back to normal... but the problem is all the footprints left behind... if you get my analogy. I think we needed to about it a little bit more gently... because it'll take a while to get over it now. which is a bum, because i was looking forward to camp

ANyway, after school i cheered up. We went into town, and i saw 5 people from my year level and 2 from the year above. My sister and i went into borders, to burn some of the vouchers we have for it. I got the phantom of the opera and artemis fowl: the opel deception... isn't that awsome!!!? Alissa also got the matrix (which i had to pay half of). The total bill was about 80 bucks... which we paid for all with our vouchers ^^ (yes, that's how many we had!). We just gave the girl at the counter a stack of cards, and she grinned and began swiping away with them. lol!

and in the carpark, when mum was trying to find a spot, there were two girls, who had a dead car, who were trying to get some jumper leads of someone... we had them, and they finally got their battery going, but the car wouldn't go. They were sitting there for hours waiting for the RAA to come.. poor things. That's black friday for you.

Anyway, on the way back, i pinched some freebies from raw sugar... but they were COFFEE FLAVOURED!!! ! They tasted feral. I have learned my lesson... do not go into stores just to scab lollies... always.

I've finished my 750 page monstrosity of a book, and i've started artimis fowl (100 pages of it). Jordy! It's AWFUL! One of the main fairies DIES!!! T_T Have a guess who!

I need a long weekend... bloody maths assignment... lol!

When he takes the mask off, his hair suddenly goes blonde! And he looks bad! Christine so should've let the Phantom kill Ronall, so that she could run off with him. Raoul's such a poofter!

*~*MARAT SAFIN WON THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN!!!*~*

The first time i saw marat safin, i decided that he was cool . That was years ago. And when i saw him against dominik hrbarty, i was torn between the two. Then, against federer, i knew i wanted him to win, and he scraped through. Then, the final with lleyton hewitt last night i was torn between the two again. Do i go for my nation? Or do i go for the tennis player that's cool? I decided in the first set, that i wanted Safin to win. This was against everyone else in my family. And he won! During the match i drew the scrap which is my featured deviation, and i plan on turning it into a proper deviation. I'm so happy!

Of course, i couldn't be obnoxious about him winning yesterday, so i was cheering inside. But my mum wasn't really happy that i went for safin and he won (i have no idea why), and she was going on about me being silly going for the non-australian and a nother australian won't get into the finals for another 20 years. I had/have 3 things wrong with that. 1. me going for lleyton would probably not have affected the outcome. 2. i'm allowed to make my own decisions and 3. how does she know that lleyton won't win it next year?! I mean, safin was just too good for lleyton.

Don't get me wrong or anything, my mum is generally really nice, but she was just a little irritable last night and i don't mean any of what i said above in a way that says i don't like my mum. Ok?

As for my checklist; i've removed the number 1 (make an ID), the number 2 (make an art trade for bunbuns), number 4 (use my tablet - but i still want to do that), number 5 (study for vacswim - i passed bronze medallion!!! Yay!) and that's all. The other things on the list are still at large...

and i've upped the number of books that i've read/are reading to 20! These are now on the list:

1. Do an ID! I still haven't done one!!
2. Finish off art trade with bunbuns (just a personal one, don't worry about it!)
3. Think about picture that i plan to draw for Jordy
4. Use my tablet heaps!
5. Study for my vacswim exam paper tomorrow...
6. Get stationary organised for next year, that's not important
7. Get b2 on my website
8. Add interesting stuff to my website!
9. Invite my friends over to swim in my pool
10. Play the flute (which i seem to have neglected over time....)

I just decided to stop at 10... id is top priority.... i think i'll go and do that one now.

But a goal that i have managed to achieve is:

Finish off the stephanie plum series!!! That series is soo cool!
