Thanks to my bestest friend *gyngert, I have been persuaded to put up some of the writing I've done, including a series we collaborated on called Ruminations. Please be kind

Ruminations are intended to be journal entries written by the character Angel, from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel: The Series universes, based upon a single episode's events. Please make sure to visit *gyngert to read her installments as well.

Haven't been feeling up to par so not a whole lot of new photographs. I am hoping now that this cold has subsided and I am feeling more energetic, there will be more shots in the future.

How horrible the devastation in NO and that whole general area. Though my husband and I have made donations, I'd like to do something else.

I've tried to "freeze" my gallery in support of the community but I can't. I really tried. Every time I log on, I am drawn to check out dA. Then I see a piece I like, then I fav it, then I have to comment on it.

Yesterday was my birthday, as it was for at least 10 other deviants. So, I had to wish them a happy birthday too. Just to share a smile and a little community love.
I just can't stop my routine cause someone on the administration is a jerk. Even °jark has said "The single most important thing in all of what is currently happening is this: community." This is my community, so why should I stop doing what I normally would do?

Don't get me wrong, I still want answers, but some of my questions have changed.

OK I don't want to cause uproar and take sides but I do want to make a few remarks on the whole situation with °jark.

I don't know what happened, why it happened or for how long it's been simmering. However, it seems as if things have been done in a haphazard, underhanded and disrespectful way. Would I want to come to dA someday and see that someone in upper admin decided not to honor dA's terms of service and now my creations belong to dA? No that would suck bigtime. I'm sure that's how °jark feels. His creation, dA, has been taken away. Maybe he understands all the ins and outs and the reasons things happened. I don't know.

I support °jark, however. I support him in that he could have been treated wit more respect and I hope whatever he moves on to, or however he stays with the community here, he is happy with it's resolution. I thank him for creating dA and making a place where I could come and "be an artist".

I am concerned that a service I pay for has made huge changes in staff, ousting a founder for whatever reason, and there has been no information offered to prevent widescale panic in the community. Cripes, everytime the big corportations fart, they let the public know about it. Why has $spyed chosen to leave us in the dark? Hopefully, this will be resolved soon as well. (Plus I am a nosy girl and would love to know exactly what happened and why.)

Change can be good. I just hope that dA (in it's current admin incarnation) and all it's deviants don't lose sight of why everyone comes here. The art, the artists, the community which allows each of us to grow and move forward getting better with each piece. I hope that this change will continue in that path. I wish $lolly luck in his new position. I'm sure that it will be difficult to step into the new position in light of the community upset.

In community spirit, I will freeze my gallery until August 7th. Hopefully, this will allow some time for resolution of this situation to occur.

How time flies

And boy it certainly does. In less than a week I'll be 37. Too bad I feel like I am 90. With all my health issues, it seems like as soon as one gets under control, something else crops up. However, I recently found a doctor who sems to give a crap and it really does make a difference. At my last appointment with her, we catalogued all of my health issues: overweight, sleep apnea, hypothyroid disease, Diabetes, edema, menorrhagia, cholesterol issues, iron deficient anemia, migraines. I just thank God I don't have cancer or more added to the pile. And I feel like a walking pharmacy. I think I have at least one pill, possibly two for everything as well as at least two medically ordered machines.

Sometimes I have good days, which are few. Sometimes I have days when I get depressed and others when I am frustrated, but mostly, I am just tired. And that makes me sad. At 36, I am just tired. It's horrible to want to do something and not be able to bcause you are just too tired to do it or, if you do, to enjoy it. And the worst feeling in the world is to have people think you are faking it or milking it.

So, my birthday wish this year is to not feel tired. To have the energy I used to have to do the things I want to do, especially now with my daughter.

Say a prayer and wish me luck.

My friend has been really busy lately. One thing she has been doing is training to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Team In Training is raising funds to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. She plans on completing this marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, but, especially, honored teammates, Morgan and Evan, and her high school friend, Wayne, who died of leukemia at 16 years old.

Ok so I 've been feeling really horrible that past month or so. The worst symptoms of my thyroid disease seem to be coming back in full force. Can't focus, always exhausted, still gaining weight like crazy, slurred speech, and cloudy thought patterns are just half of the issue. So I go to my doctor and tell her I am not feeling right. She increases my meds. But also get her to refer me to and ndocrinologist to chck out my thyroid.

I went to see the endo two weeks ago. I give her a full rundown of my sitch. She orders a full blood workup, to see where I stand. I met with her again on Friday for the results.

It seems that not only is my thryoid level way off again, but my blood sugar levels are abnormal. They are just over the edge between normal and diabetic. Due to that and my weight issues, the doctor as decided to give me treatment for Type 2 Diabetes. I have medication to take, I have a little machine to check my blood sugar levels and I have to go to the hospital to meet with a dietician and a therapist to help to establish a diet and exercise plan for me. This was somting I have been trying to get done for 2 years and finally someone listened and is helping. I almost cried when I left her office.

The doctor believes that everything is treatable and that as long as I follow the plans I get set up and take the medication, the diabetes diagnosis can change fairly soon.

Wheeee.... here we go...

For all the beta testers out there, here is a neat beta tip I found out. We all know that now, if you hold your mouse at a link, a small thumbnail shows up.

1- Press and hold CRTL with mouse over link. The thumbnail loads to medium size.
2- Press and hold SHIFT with mouse over link. The thumbnail loads to large size.

Also, if you noticed, your pageviews are now a clickable link, breaking down visits to your dev page by day, month, and year. (Boy, why does it fel like someone wants to mak use page view whores, yet.)

And last but not least, I am loving the fact that I no longer have to labor in my little tiny journal boxes.... the boxes have been expanded and I have a PREVIEW button. Pretty freakin' cool!!!

Too many things have been going on. Especially in my head.

I haven't been feeling well, my kid has been sick, I've been depressed and upset about just about everything. I'm frustrated with my health issues and my doctors. I'm frustrated with feeling crappy all the time and people thinking I am just playing around.

I guess I am also getting discouraged about a lot of things. I feel like I am talking and not getting listened to or just beating my head against a wall no one else can see. My photography stuff is part of it.I am getting discouraed with that too. And with some of my friends. One of my friends is trying to put me at odds with another just to make my life difficult. My best friend has recently moved to Florida and prior to the move had become cold and distant and unwilling to visit or to meet and hang out with. I guess I'm just feeling lonely during the times when my husband has to work.

Also, I am frustrated because I was a moderator in the Circle of Friends and I requested to step down for personal reasons and I still haven'theard anything from anyone about it. I almost just want to throw my hands up and scream.

GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRAAAAHHHHHHHHH... whatever.. just ignore me... everyone else does.

I've read all about the new submission agreement. At first I got my hackles up because I renewed my sub before I got the letter, then was just pissed off. Then I read the agreement several time. It pretty much read like what I had signed when I fist joined. and no I don't care to be part of the mobile service so I made everything inactive for that. It should be an opt-in rather than an opt-out service, but I am sure enough people have complained and it will be adjusted.

Anywho... I am really not that worried. I have proof that all my pics are originally mine. Besides, they aren't that good anyway, who'd really want to say, "hey that's mine". Plus, I haven't been able to sell anything anyway. So the saying, "It's probably so bad I couldn't give it away" comforts me.

I know that a lot of people are unhappy and have threaten to move their galleries offsite. I just want to say, be careful. I have my gallery offsite and I get way way more traffic, comments and exposure here, even as limited as it may be. I'd rather suck here in the crowd, then suck alone in the void.

Hope more people rethink and stay and submit.

Things have been pretty subdued around here, with the emergency room scare and everything. Even Valentine's day was a quiet affair. This past few weeks the hubby has had a few classes to take but thankfully he resumes his regular schedule next week which means he gets his regularly scheduled 6 days off starting Friday, works four nights and then starts vacation. Sweet deal! We had originally planned to take some day trips but when work rescheduled some of his classes and messd up his schedule, that messed up our original plans. But luckily, the instuctor seems to have an agenda of his own and things are going to work out in our favor anyway. Hopefully, I can find some new visual inspiration or at least shake of the cabin fever tht feels like it's hanging around.

Hubby Update

Thank you to everyone who as left a note of support for my husband and me. s to all of you.

My husband has ben to the cardiologist for his stress test. te cardiologist has basically said that his heart is strong and with all the test that have been run, including this last stress test, there is nothing wrong with his heart. However, and this is the next hurtle, he has to go get a complete physical and then go to see a pulmonary specialist.

A few years ago, during his last physical, the doctor told my husband it looked like he was developing Small Airway Disease. It sounded kind of silly to J at the time. The doctor eventually moved away and then so did we. He mentioned this to the cardio doc, who said it could be an issue and that getting to his regular doc and a pulmonary specialist was definitely high on the agenda. (Small Airway Disease is apparently a precursor or an indicator of possible Emphysema) Thank God he FINALLY quit smoking!!!! So those appointments will be coming soon.
Please keeps us in your thoughts and prayers.

Other than that things are the same . It's cold and damp and AAARRRGGGHH... I think I am getting cabin fever...!!!!!

oh and one final note, Lu, I did get your call but I was at my mom's house that day, so please don't think I was blowing you off!! We'll get in sync at some point!!!

Happy Groundhog's Day!

What a horrible day.

Tired, had a horrible headache and just spent most of the night in the hospital emergency room with my husband and my three yr old daughter. My husband drove himself to the emergency room right from wok because he was having pains in his chest and left arm. It's been going on for a day or two he tells me now but today was the worst. They couldn't find anything, but we have to get to a cardiologist for more tests.

I pray it's nothing. It's has to be nothing because I can't do this without him.

"It is with my profoundest sorrow that I inform you that ~subformulate has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. He died early this morning with his family surrounding him. In lieu of flowers he has made his wishes known that money be sent to research breast cancer which late last year claimed his wife's life. They are now once again together.
All donations should be sent via pay-pal to silverrowen@gmail.com. For more information please visit the journal entry being written now by * Yueko-Sama who has been in contact with his father. Adam was loved dearly by all of us and his death at such a young age and so close on the heels of the death of his beloved is a shock and for many of us hard to process. He will always be smiling down on us and I know he loved circleoffriends and it's members with all his heart.

Everytime I hear this on song it just makes me teary-eyed. I have the album, but I just heard it again and I figured I'd put it up this time. It's called "Letters from War" by Mark Schultz
The song is the story of Mark's great-grandmother and the letters she wrote and received from her son who was serving his country during World War II. It makes me teary because it is so fitting for the men and women who are serving their country today too. Here is a clip: [link]

I was told to get comments, you must give comments. I give tons of comments. I offer good ideas and critiques. ok I also offer off the wall stuff , but at least I am letting the artist know what I like, what I thought might work better and what I might like to see again. I do not get the same from most of the people who visit. I can say that there are about 9 people who offer any insight on my pieces whatsoever.

I get so discouraged every day. In my offline life, I have two people who encourage me to follow my desire in this and really look to dA to fill up the rest of that support. but each time I am just let down and let down hard.

Every day when I see the DD's go up and ask myself why mine, which looks very similar, wasn't chosen... is it bad?, do I suck? am I just not popular enough? Oh wait... this week two pictures featuring CLOTHES PINS were chosen.. :smacks forehead: why didn't I think of that.... I guess my subject matter is just too boring. I don't do nudes of myself or anyone else and I don't do a lot of portraiture. Soooo that just leaves... everything else... geez... hmmmmmmmmm.....pretty boring lot to choose from... whatever.

I guess I will just have to resign myself to what I was told earlier today:

"Even though you take decent pictures,
maybe you're just not meant to be a photographer."

Guess I'll just have to stick to being a mom. It's actually something I am pretty damn good at.

I'll be here. As far as work...no more for now. We'll see how I feel in the next couple of weeks.

While Amy has been in the hospital, we have been able to send her flowers, in the form of a flowering plant, and a gift basket. We have also been able to send her and her family Christmas dinner, dessert, and some extras.

Amy and Circle of Friends

To the members of Circle of Friends:

I sent Amy a bouquet or more accurately a flowering plant (European Flowering basket). I felt the plant would last longer and be a better reminder to Amy of how much we appreciate her. I also sent her a gift basket to go along with it.

A recommendation was made to use the rest of the funds, if any, to possibly provide Christmas dinner for Amy and her family as we are sure she hasn't had time to prepare for it. So, with that in mind, the donation link will stay open until Wednesday.

A few weeks ago, my husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I said I wanted people to buy my prints.
I have to admit, I am a little jealous of everyone I know who is doing well selling their prints. But I have to say, congrats to them as well. I am happy to see that people are taking an interest in their work.

I had hoped to sell prints to help with income in the house. As many of you know, being a one income family can be really hard, especially when you have a child.

However, I've had some good news. I had applied for disability a while ago as per my mom's prompting. With all my health issues, she was sure that I would be eligible. I didn't think I would be. But lo and behold, I am and I've started receiving money. I even got a little back pay since my disability has been going on for so long. So, a big AMEN with this new money to help.

There is someone that needs help however. A young member of dA, * sammigurl61190 , needs help. She and her mom are barely making ends meet. Plase visit the *Supernovastudios and see how you can help. Read his journal entry here [link]

Yesterday, December 10th was the one year mark of my stepfather's death. He dided from complications stemming from lung cancer. This past week has been pretty painful for my mom and my neice, as well as myself and my husband. We just keep moving forward and know that what he would want us to do.

Dad, you are missed.

Today I received a most unexpected email. It was from an old friend I haven't seen in a year. He had moved and we had lost contact. A mutual friend gave him my email and a link to my dA gallery, so he could see what I had been up to, photographywise.

"lacking in talent," "commonplace and routine", "stale and uninspired" were just a few of the phrases he used to comment on the pictures I have displayed here. He tried to say that he was saving me from the illusion that I could ever be successful as a photographer. He then very nicely proceeded to recommend I stick with "mommy" shots of my daughter and leave the"art" to the ones who know how to do it right. This was from someone I called a friend!? This was from one of the few people I NEVER would have expected it from. We were on good terms the last time we spoke and the rest of his letter was actually just like old times. I just don't understand...

Now, I have never claimed to be a pro photographer. It is definitely a hobby I enjoy, and most of the people who watch or stop by, see something that they like. I would love to be successful and sell lots of prints and works, etc... But, for now I am just happy taking and sharing my pics.

Tell me I need to work harder. Tell me I need improvement. Show me what I might have be doing wrong. I can take critiques and criticism. But tell me that I have no talent... this just hurts.

While I am hurt and upset, I refuse to take down my photos, however, awful they are or untalented I am.

Whatever. I'll just cry, get over it and move on.... soon...

But...why do people have to be so mean?

A National day here in Australia to address Violence against Women.

23% of women in Australia have been affected by abuse. That's cases that have been reported. How many more remain silent or still trapped in an environment of abuse? For a nation that calls itself "The Lucky Country" I find it hard to agree. A country so impressed with it's accomplishments on/in the sporting arena, how do we hold our heads up to scrutiny when we damage our greatest resource, ourselves...
So on the 25th of November wear a white ribbon. Tell the world the Australian women are sacred, loved and have no problem in wiping the floor with you if you get in their face.

Daisy is 9 weeks old kitten. She has a hole in her diaphragm caused by either someone dropping or stepping on her as a newborn. Daisy's intestines, bowel, and stomach are in her chest cavity pushing on her lungs and heart. She cannot breath normally. Her lungs are only being allowed to breath in a small amount of air. Daisy's only hope is an operation to mend the hole and reposition her organs where they are supposed to be. Then and only then will she be able to live a happy normal life.

The surgery is costly ($1100) and need your help in saving her life.I am only asking for $1 and will return it if I am not able to raise the needed amount. I am only trying to save and give my kitten life not anything else. If I raise more then the surgery amount I will give it to the hospital as a donation to help other sick animals in need. Please, I don't want to have to put a happy, loving kitten to sleep.

Time is of the essence, for Daisy must have surgery before Thanksgiving, which is next week. She is part of Max and my family and don't want to loose her so soon. Please let us have something to be thankful for this holiday season.

I was just reading on the kodak site that my new camera won an award. Ranked "Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Digital Cameras$400-$599" by J.D. Power and Associates.
I guess this is pretty good.

It's getting colder every day here. I almost can't wait for it to snow. Yes I said snow. I can't wait to go out and take more snow pictures this year. Call me crazy. OK not literally... lol...

Ordered some prints this past week and got them yesterday. WOW! They are beautiful. You never realize how good a picture can look when it's printed right. Now if I could take some great pictures, I'm sure hy would print out fabulously!!lol!!!

Most of my close friends have been quiet lately. At least two are mad at me, one is on vacation and one has been really busy, and one has just disappeared off the face of the earth. I hope everyone is ok.

Alright, here I go off to conquer another day...
