This morning, I was dreaming of reading Patrick O'Brian's drawerfic. (Drawerfic being the stories that are written and then shut in a drawer forever, usually from professional embarrassment.) There were several short stories. The one I remember had a captain who was a cross between Jack and the saintly Anson, who took on some convict castaways, one of whom -- a fatalistic Irish maid -- was later revealed to have tentacles. (I did say this was drawerfic.) We were just getting into the interesting ramifications of this when my alarm went off and I had to get up for real. No Stephen or Stephen-analogue had yet appeared in the story, though looking back I can feel his shadow stretching all through it. I was sleepy all day.

Since we are about six months into the year, how'm I doing on those resolutions?

Answer: Pretty good! I am actually writing on something and/or drawing on something nearly every day. This hasn't led to an explosion of finished pics or finished fics because grass grows faster than I do either, but it's really fun.

I mean, an animated icon of Cloud, that'd be easy. Like six frames tops -- he'd blink and sort of sigh and deflate and look more emo. (Like most of Advent Children, really.) (Squall's would have only three frames: in each one another period would get added to his speech bubble.)

But Zack. The bastard. You don't know how badly you lack in the smile-drawing skills until you try to draw someone going from no-smile to grin to full ^_^ and have the motion be natural. Not a grimace, no skipping, natural.

It probably builds my character or something though. Gah.

I sort of resolved to try to write a little bit and draw a little bit every day. Mixed results so far, but certainly more results than if this hadn't been on my mind. ^_^
