Hi guys,

Sorry I haven't been posting anything for ages. I have been hard at work with my new font (Beluga), and also studying for my GCSEs in June. Thanks to all that time with my brain working at full capacity, I have come up with a few new ideas to go with my "all new improved" me. Hopefully I'll start work on new stuff by the middle of this month.

Hey guys,

Just a quick update to notify everyone that the font will be up before the end of the week - and by the font, I mean Matt Serif. This font is already available totally for free over at DaFont, and soon it'll be up on here too!
The font of course is already completed, features every character you could dream of in every language, so it's all catered for. The preview image I finished today, and so it'll be up before you know it!

I am also working on a brand new font, which currently is untitled. The font is very different to my previous one - much more stylish and designer. Each letter is very thick and chunky, and would be perfect for titles and illustration work. I've been wondering what to call it, and have decided that whoever comes up with the title that I choose for the font, wins:

A FREE copy of the font - the font otherwise will only be available by purchase.

OR

A commission of your entire choosing - you choose the theme, idea, medium, style etc, and I'll do it. All for just a name.

THE RULES

Well, it's a brand new year, and as such, a clean sheet. And I mean really clean - Vanish Oxy Ultra style cleanliness.

MY BRAND NEW IDENTITY - MB:

I've decided to start the new year with a fresh start in the design area - I think it's about time I get serious about producing quality graphics. I will still be creating Vector-Abstract images, I think, but with more effort on the drawing and illustration. I have a few brief ideas lined up which I will try to put into effect ASAP, and also, I would like to finally get around to completing my Flash portfolio.
Maybe I might even get around to CSSing this journal... If someone could give me a hand with that, it would be much appreciated.

So here is a concise list of things that I am doing and will be doing in the near future:

Collaborations - I am completely open to any and all collabs.

Portfolio - I'm going to start work on a layout and interface for my portfolio.

Muzart - A variety of illustrations inspired by my fave band, Muse.

Journal - CSS the journal Done

So please let me know if you want to collaborate with me, I'm itching for a design idea.

In other news, it was Christmas! I got some great stuff, including various Muse sheet musics, a subscription to Q Magazine, an electronic guitar tuner (very impressive, actually) and other such rubbish things. I also managed to dig out a converter for Mono2PC, so that I can plug my guitar/keyboard/bass/mic into the PC and record on Cubase or Reason. But not Audacity. Filthy bastards.

It's rather exciting, is it not? No, it isn't, in the grand scheme of things. But if your into Python, ~Trouserpress and suchforth, please drop by and critique me till your critiquing organ falters or... something to that effect. I am sharing it with a friend of mine, who is also delightfully silly. His name is Ben, and iSPACE is his first dA account, so be nice. He'll submit lots of stuff too, and I'll be sure to leave "text" when this happens explaining it is him. He's more into the whole music side of things - he's studying to become a freelance sound technician; the music equivalent to what we all do in the graphic design industry.

Its all very silly and not thought through very well, but if it was, then what's the point in the first place?

Hello. I am so... something. I'm not sure what. Sort of sorry for not being hear, sort of embarrassed that people still visit, to find nothing but nothing, and sort of happy that I have started posting and arting again.
So, yes. I have decided to start afresh. New style, new pieces, new medium. That's right. Expect lots more Flash on here. I don't know why I haven't submitted any Flash in the past - it makes sense. I do need the feedback - none of my friends are even slightly interested in criticising me. So, yes. Also, I would really like to know what style you would all like to see in terms of design. I am actually a pretty good drawer - I'm also not sure why I havent submitted any drawings. Hmm.

Well, lots has happened since June 23rd. Jeez. Anyway, yes. The list goes as follows:

I got my ear pierced. Top left.

I did my careers interview - turns out I'd be good at being a Cybernetics Engineer/Journalist. Hmm.

I am obsessed to a stupid degree with both Matt Bellamy and The Fratellis.

I have gained rather a large amount of money thanks to my font, Matt Serif, which rocketed to the top of daFONT's charts, in both Script section and also overall site. I'm thinking about submitting it to dA actually.

So, yeah. It's been quite productive. Also, it's my birthday in 15 days (29th) so don't hesitate to do something wild and crazy, such as posting a comment wishing me all the best etc. I am in a serious Marvin mood for some reason. Oh well. Like you care.

Wow. It has, once again, been ages since my last proper update, and I can't stress how sorry I am. I know this sounds like yet another excuse, collaborators and everyone else, but I have been flattened with work at the moment. Currently I have been studying for possibly the most important exams of my life. I have, however, managed to produce HYPnosis, which I am rather proud of. I was completely horrified with how Anthema for the Masses turned out, so I re-did it entirely in my own style. It was too big, blocky, and generally crap.

Also, expect a full flash portfolio to be live and on the web in less than two months. I absolutely stand by this promise. I have already began coding it, and I am about 5-7% finished with the design sides of things. It looks gorgeous. It features an editable colour scheme, which randomly generates a backpage colour to suit your mood. It's rather silly yes, but equally impressive. To me, anyway. Shut up! I know how to work a computer.... *mumbles*

So... yeah. What's been happening on the lifelier side of things? I am moving. That's one thing. As many of you know, I currently live in Spain, although I was actually born near Liverpool. In about a year and a half, I am moving back to good old blighty, where the weather is crude and wet. Actually, to be honest, I am ecstatic about it. See? This is my ecstatic face. ... What? Aren't you impressed?

Erm... Oh yeah, and Wolfmother rule. The world. You know? That big place with all the wet?

It's been a while since I submitted a proper dA Journal entry, so here we go.
As you can see, I have been experimenting vector-wise, and I came up with kill:revolution. I have never worked harder on any vector piece before - the image took over a month to create, on and off. The real problem is that you cannot see all of the smaller details; such as the vectoring on the teeny people in the background or the woodgrain on the speakerboard, for example. In all, it certainly paid off, and I am very proud of the finished piece. I wanted to create something that reminded me of the immense Marc Bolan song - Children Of The Revolution, as it is just sublime, and many of their songs could be interpreted in art. Anyway, yeah. There you go. Enjoy it as much as I do

On the Elements series: I have decided to scrap the brain render I created for Boron, as it really isn't great.
I am also working on a submission to my recently joined group, zeroFourFour, which should be submitted soon, as the deadline is the 30th. Should be rather exciting.
Check below for the progress I have made on various collabs - sorry Phil, I have decided to scrap what I have done so far - it just isn't up to standards and I didn't really feel the image. Also, the collab between me and =veggieGEAR has been reset, and I will be using a brain render instead of a 3D model for Veg to HUD over.

So yeah. Not much has happened since I last updated, apart from a trip to Madrid. It was basically a large hike through the mountains, and it was quite an experience. We went horse-riding, which I have never actually done before, and CANTERED. Oh yeah.
Erm.... What else? The band's next gig is on the 12th of May, in front of around 350 people so far confirmed.

Apart from that, nothing else to report. See you next time!

Well, As you can see, not much has been happening in this jolly month of March. I have had absolutely no time whatsoever for art, and I am deeply, deeply sorry for this, especially to all of my collaborators, who are no doubt waiting for the finished bits, or at least some kind of start. I am really very sorry, but I have been so clogged up with work at the moment it's frightening. And just to boot, I'm going skiing tomorrow 'til Tuesday, so don't expect any updates/visits whatsoever from me. Sorry stalkers. I'll be back soon enough, and I'll start on some more ideas, as well as add to the fantastic start that ~B1indy has made on our collaboration. We will pwn. Oh yes.

Hurray and hurrah! I have almost finished the render for *veggieGEAR! So sorry, veg, that it took so long, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this sort of thing. Just to recap, the submission is supposed to be cold and frozen looking, and it's murder trying to achieve this in a 3D program when it comes to abstract. At first, I tried simply making a huge abstract block of ice, which looked pixel-ly and unsmooth. Anyway, I have basically finished my side of it now, really just adding tweaks and things in PS until it comes out all smooth and lovely.

Anyway, Photoshop CS is like well dudey. I can't get over all the little things that just make it 10 times better than 7. Anyway, yeah, it's fab.

I'm working on some more vector bits at the moment in the lead up to my recently joined club, :fxencore-art:. It's going to be hard to compete with the big boys of vector-abstract, so I've been working my socks off to try and come out with an appealing vector to use. All the same, it's a great experience.

Altogether though, it was a great experience to be back up there, and we managed to raise 270 to pay for all the stuff that we had to use (PA System, transport, etc). We also sold T-Shirts, and stickers, and stuff like that, which was great. I signed 4 autographs too

I have been extremely, extremely busy this month. I know, it's been three days, but I am still, sadly, hyper-actively busy. I've managed to spend some time on a wallpaper for you all, using my interesting FractaLinear method. They are very pleasing and easy to make - I highly recommend you give it a try.

Expect 2 more wallpapers to be finished before Monday dawns, and maybe more. It's my first weekend away from the band, so I'm making it as arty as possible.

Oh yeah, and I managed to bag myself a copy of Photoshop CS, which I am told is rather splendid. I am currently working on PS7, so I don't know if it's fantastically better or anything. If you have any tips on how to get started, comment on this journal.

Well, as I have been saying (and not much else) I've been very busy recently. I've accepted a job offer to design a template for an online betting company. It was pretty simple - just a skinning job, no real creativity or 'owt like that

The band's first gig is on the 17th of February, in a little bar deep in the heart of a traditional spanish village. Funnily enough, we've had quite a good reception. I'll update with info ASAP.

Well, as you can see, I have been on fire this month, burning out submission after submission. ¬_¬
Hopefully, I'll have more free time next month (though that's hardly likely...

) but until then, be happy with a giant 3D abstract wallpaper slightly to the left. And some lovely brushes.

OMG! I have never eaten so many sweets in my ENTIRE LIFE!!! It was La Fiesta de los Tres Reyes Magos on the 5th of January, and we went to this huge parade of floats and stuff. They were throwing sweets like they were... um... something that isn't very valuable!
The best part of the night was when this old lady turned up with an umbrella turned inside out. She just stood there, watching all the floats, and she managed to catch about 400 sweets just standing still. I wish we'd thought of that...
We started back at school on Monday, and the early morning thing is just not working for me. I've decided to give up school and live in a box. Wouldn't that just be easier anyway?
We also had another band rehearsal yesterday minus a drummer. Rather unproductive, as you could have guessed.

Hello everyone! I am so sorry I haven't posted anything in like 2346 years, but I have been very, very busy. The band has JUST got back together, so we are trying to rehearse as much as possible in order to prepare for a gig at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb. I got plenty of art gunk this year - two professional easels, a set of Winsor & Newton Sceptre Gold brushes (which I am sure all of you lot who value brushes in painting will go "

I'm also currently working on my submission for ~exoreality's Velocity pack, which is a really versatile theme to deal with. Especially with abstract-vector.
What else.... I'm working with ~spritek on his splenderiffic font "eko," which is currently just an .ai on his PC and on my E-Mail, but trust me, when it's done, it'll be fantastic.

Well, that's about it for art. Deal with it.
