Language can stimulate imagination and creativity. Words have power and meaning, use them with care.

Look at the light.

"Ideas are ten-a-penny. Everyone gets them. It's just that we tend to edit them out or throw them away; we dismiss them as irreverent and unworthy, or we start to develop them but become riddled with self-doubt and lose our energy. Ideas have to be fostered, made friends with, and then encouraged through their various stages until they're strong enough to stand on their own. When they're ready, they'll make their own demands and direct their own completion." - Nick Bantock

Architecture is about space, not mass.

Stop looking to yourself, start looking at the world.

Collage is an act of curation - it is the act of hunting and gathering.

Visualization is continuous - it cannot be packaged into tidy categories - learn to see beyond.

Practicality and imagery need to go hand in hand.

Connectors and devices are important. Don't make the viewer go through the garbage to reach the visual treasure.

Hardware carries emotional weight, use them with care.

Heavy-handedness is not a good thing, learn to be subtle.

Cutesy is lame.

Occupy your own life creatively, even if things fall flat.

Interact, not connect.

Learn time by the river

Effort goes into making something look effortless.

What lies below the surface affects the surface.

The body is the first instrument to play in artmaking.

"When I make a work, I often take it to the very edge of its collapse." - Andy Goldsworthy

There is a world beyond what words can define. Art occupies this space.

The creative life is lived outside the institution, in your own mind.

You have to eat, breathe and sleep creatively in order to make creatively.

Innovation is not the same as developement.

We use linguistic shorthand to deal with complexity.

Conciousness and objectivity play a part in this kind of work.

All the visual components and elements carry considered, effective voice in imagery.

_________________

Presentation is everything - presentation can make or break your piece

The enviroment around affects your art - pay attention, take time to reorganize each day

Never skip out on quality workmanship - even if the idea is not strong, quality workmanship and use of materials can make it beautiful

The actual image is more important than anything you could ever say about your piece - learn when to shut up

Your conduct as an artist affects your art and people's view of it - pay attention to your behavior, and how you interact with people and the enviroment around you, and your art will benefit

Take time each day to find simple beauty in the world around you, whether it's a shadow on the wall or a gorgeous color - it will improve your seeing

Own up to your mistakes, and clean them up (and others) without being told

Keep track of everything in your life, it helps you stay focused

Play with language, it improves your mind

Write down even the smallest idea, you may make a master's thesis on it later

I've been cleaning out my dA account, deleted a lot of stuff, and I'm going to be submitting a lot of new stuff, and probably adding some prints and such.
Also, you can now get mousepads of a couple of my stain glass vector pieces!

Just thought I'd bother to update! I loooooove KCAI, it's so awesome. I have pretty much the best teacher in the whole freshman department, in fact the whole idea of foundations was his doing, and it took off at other schools. So I feel pretty priviledged to be taught by him. He's insane, but awesome!

I think I'm doing pretty well, at least I'm trying hard to, hehehe. This week has been shit, but it's getting better. Our last project was a photography project, so I'll try to get those put up sometime.

In other news, I get to go photograph people at my teacher's swanky birthday party event at his studio tomorrow, that's pretty exciting. And I got my first paying design job a couple weeks ago, that was really cool (and good cause art supplies are EXPENSIVE!!!) - should have that put up soon too.

Anyways, two more weeks till thanksgiving (I think... :S) and then a week more of projects, and another week of finishing stuff, and then I should be coming home around the 16th of December for 6 weeks of catching up and boredom.

I leave for school in exactly 7 weeks, yayayayayay! I can't wait to get outta here, I'm bored silly and I hate my job, ugh. Despite being bored, I'm also in a creative slump, so I haven't bothered to get up off my ass all summer and really create much of anything, besides a mexican village set out of styrofoam sheets for my church's vacation bible school.

School's gonna be fun though, I'm really excited, and I've already started to make friends. My schedule looks something like this:

Foundations (giant general art class), 9 credits, 8-2pm MWF
Art History, 3 credits, 11-12.20 TR
History of Western Thought (philosophy), 3 credits, 4-5.20pm MW

So it looks like I'll be keeping busy, heheh.

In other news, I managed to break my left wrist learning how to longboard the other week, so I'll be in a cast till like the week before I leave for school, fun, hehehe. At least it was my left and not my right, or I wouldn't be working, which would be bad.

And it was my 21st birthday on Tuesday, which I spent working, going to the doctor, and being ill. That was fun. I was gonna have a party on Friday, but I changed my mind after some shit blew up with most of my close friends at a 4th of July party. I may still go out this weekend with some other friends, I don't know.

That's pretty much it, yeah. Boredom central.

And in other news, I'm still waiting to hear if I got into KCAI or not, I should hopefully know around mid march at the latest. I hate waiting for things, bleeeeeh

My grandma was in a bad car accident last week, so things have otherwise been pretty hectic with visiting her in the hospital and working lots.

I've been reading this really really cool book by Chip Kidd on his work. If you don't know, he's a famous book cover designer for Alfred P. Knopf publishing company. The book is really cool, cause not only does he show his successful designs, he also shows his failures. Plus, he's quite funny and engaging to read. And since I want to be a book cover designer, I've learned a lot! Amazon has it, just do a search for Chip Kidd and it's the top book.

Yay I haven't posted a journal on here since Nov, hehe

December was super-busy, in between buying and making christmas presents and trying to finish up stupid school projects and working I thought I was going to go mad. But I did have a pretty nice and quiet Christmas - mom made prime rib, it was really awesome.

Other than that, I've been keeping busy working on applying for school. I decided that I'm applying for Kansas City Art Institute (no relation to the chain art institute colleges), and prolly Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. I'm really hoping I'll get into KCAI. We're going to be visiting it on the 20th, I'm excited!

As far as art goes, I've been intermittantly working on all those photographs I took this last semester, so I may be submitting them here and there. Other than that, just busy assembling my portfolio for applications.

Oh and I got new black Chucks, my old ones were getting pretty dead - they survived about 20 concerts over a year and a half though, that was decent.

I found out I don't have to go to school next semester, I"m excited. Need to find a second job instead, wheeeeeee. I hate job hunting.

I saw Pride & Prejudice the other day, it was really really good. Usually Keira Knightley annoys me, but she was actually pretty good in this.

***SPOILERS***Saw Harry Potter as well too, it was a lot better than the last one, albeit it felt a little rushed. Ron did a really good job, I was laughing my head off during the dress robes scenes. And the bouncing ferret, that was awesome. Mad Eye Moody was done pretty well too. I wish they'd put the world championship quidditch match in there though, it was a bit awkward when they went to the game, but then suddenly cut to it being over. Maybe there'll be an extended edition with it in there. Oh I'm forgetting the best part, NO HOUSE ELVES! THANK GOD! hehehehe ***END SPOILERS***

Hmm, my choice of schools has changed, I think I'll be going to Kansas City Art Institute in the fall (no affliation with those stupid chain art schools), it makes me really excited! Now I just need to apply and all that as soon as school gets out and I have some time.

Peace out, hippies

Well, big news concerning my art. I got to show my portfolio to one of the people from Ringling School of Art and Design (the college I'm hoping to get into) on Sunday at a local college's Portfolio Day, and he seemed really impressed with my work, especially the stain glass style pieces, and said I have an excellent chance of getting into the school. It's very reassuring to know that I'm at least on the right track with my work, and I know he wasn't just making it up, cause he was really tough on a couple of the kids ahead of me in the line. I need to work on my observational drawing though, cause I'll have to have a couple pieces of it in my portfolio when I apply for the school. So I'm hoping in fall 2007 I'll be heading to Sarasota Florida for art school If I can figure out how to pay for it, that is! heh

Saw the Corpse Bride last night, it was pretty cute. I liked the town crier the best. Also been watching MST3K a lot, my friend Dave showed me the magic that is Usenet, and I've downloaded like 10 episodes. And all my tv shows start this week, yay! I'm so glad I don't have to wait till January for new Alias episodes, it was just evil last season when they did that!

Hmm, school's pretty horrible, that's all I have to say. Finally decided to drop my western civ class cause the tests were ridiculous, but I've been having troubles picking up another class. Hopefully I'll get that straightened out tomorrow, and I'll have a photography class again. The good thing about school though is that I've been making a lot of new friends, which is pretty awesome, and we've started up a sorta campus crusade for Christ group on Thursdays.

In other not-so-related news, I've been making some crafty things like screenprinted tshirts and duct tape wallets, which I need to actually take pictures of and post, sheesh. I've been knitting a lot lately too, working on a pair of gloves and a cool brazilian/finnish headband thing.

And I leave for California in two weeks, yay! I think I've decided I"m gonna 'hawk my hair for the show, and wear my black and white striped collar shirt with my skinny black tie, and I"m thinking about buying a pair of suspenders for that whole old school look, you know. I wanted to buy a pair of orange chuck t's, but I don't think I"ll have enough money to do so

Ska's not dead! Muahahhaa!

*coughs* erm, yes, I really should bother to update this thing more. What's happened since the last time I posted...

Summit was awesome! Had a really good time, and learned a lot, even though I didn't get to really do any of the activities besides visit the Air Force Academy. Made some cool friends, shout outs to Ben, Lyndsay, Steve, and all my roomates and small group girls! So anyways, I'm really fired up right now, and I've been trying to read a book a week (on something apologetics), right now it's this book called Lewis Agonistes, on how C.S. Lewis can teach us to wrestle with the modern and post-modern world. It's pretty awesome.

Ummm, I dyed my bangs red, looks pretty cool if I do say so myself. Wish it'd turned out a little bit brighter, but oh well. I 'hawked it for the Supertones concert yesterday up in Greeley, that was wicked. Never ever putting ketchup in my hair again though, smells like crap, and it didn't work, ended up using good ol' Elmer's glue.

Speaking of the Supertones, both concerts here were awesome! Skanked like mad, although now I'm paying for it with pulled calf muscles in both legs, heh. Definitely not in shape for concerts! I think the concert up in Greeley was better than the one here, there wasn't as many middle school kiddos trying to mosh at a SKA CONCERT! Plus my friend Aaron and a couple of his friends were there and we had fun just being crazy and skanking lots... well, they were there at the one here in Denver, but I didn't hang out with them too much, and the people I did hang out with weren't into the whole dance around crazy in the middle of the pit, except my friend Kamie who surprised me and really got into it (I didn't take her for the crazy concert-going type). Plus we got to hang out for a bit with Mojo of the Tones more up in Greeley, he's still awesome as evah. Don't let him try to tell you he's old, it's all lies Oh, and I have my plane tickets to go see their final show in Orange County California! It's pure accident that the weekend I'm visiting my grandma is the same weekend they're playing, really

Wednesday was fun too, Brian invited Paul and I to his sister's going away party, I suspect just to save him from her friends Anyways, we watched stupid videos on his computer, and took pictures of ourselves holding his sword and lightsaber model, that Paul's gonna do a little photoshop magic to and turn them into lightsabers. Can't wait to see those.

Umm, what else? School's going ok, the bad thing is that I pretty much have to stay up there for 12 hours a day tuesdays and thursdays, and then I come home and crash. Oh well, at least I've got friends up there to talk to most of the day, and lots of books to read!

And art, ha! I have no time for art anymore, except what I do in my drawing class. I *might* have some photographs again, if I can manage to sneak into the labs at school and develop my 3 rolls of film. Also, I'm supposed to be finishing my youth group's website ASAP, we'll see how that goes. So pretty much don't expect any new art for awhile.

Ok that's the news, I"m gonna go sleep now.

Doobie doobie doo, life is good. Gotten over the worst of the past three months, now it's on to other things, other people, woot woot

Big things:
Going to see the Aquabats July 12th, I think I'm dressing up as the Kumquat Commander. I'm thinking a raglan shirt with either green or orange sleeves and my kumquat logo on it, then my green all-stars, and then I'll make some crazy helmet out of green and orange duct tape. It's gonna be AWESOME! I'm gonna be skanking like crazy too!

And I"m going to the Colorado Renaissance Fair in July with a huge group of friends, that's gonna be awesome as well, although I wish I had a new costume to wear. Oh well, my old one will suffice. It'll be nice to go again, I missed last year and the year before that, well, not so fond memories.

Going off to Summit in August for two weeks, that's gonna be awesome as well. Hoping to meet some nice people up there and just have a good time and get back to God as well. Oh yeah, definitely hitting the paintballing a couple times as well.

Work is fun fun, we finally got caught up on carts for awhile, so it's been relaxing and we're getting other stuff done finally. I'm hoping I'm one of the pages picked to be trained on checking in books (we're *finally* gonna be allowed to do that, yay) in the next couple weeks. There's another reason why work is fun too.... but I'm not going to go into that, HA!

I've been very busy too with my youth group's website, I've taken over running it and currently I'm building it from the ground up, it's gonna be awesome. You can see a sneak preview of the design here: [link]

I even got some new art up, check out:
I got a whole pile of great 50's/60's pamphlets on various things, with fabulous little illustrations, at my neighbor's estate sale for 2 bucks... Tomorrow I think I'm heading up to Boulder to go to a yarn store and the army surplus, should be fun.

You know you live in Denver when....

You identify directions by the location of the mountains.

You've been tear gassed in a riot to celebrate a team's victory.

When visiting friends at sea level, you can drink a case of beer and not get a buzz.

Snow in June is not unheard of. Neither is 100 degree weather.

You scoff at the weatherman on TV. Especially when giving a five-day forecast.

"Timberline" is somewhere you've actually been. Many times.

You know what a "Chinook" is.

You know what the "Peoples Republic of Boulder" is - and why it's called that.

You know what a "fourteener" is.

You know what a "Rocky Mountain Oyster" is.

You think a red light means three more cars can go. The fast lane is for cruising and the slow lane is for passing. Turn signals are optional.

Shorts are worn year around, regardless of temperature.

"Wildlife" means more than squirrels and pigeons. You don't stop and look when you see deer.

You're not sure if Colorado extends west of the Rockies.

You know where Buffalo Bill's grave is.

You own a big dog named Aspen, Buck, Cheyenne or Dakota that wears a bandanna.

The entire top of your head is bald, but you still have a pony tail.

You think that formal wear is ironed denim.

You've never actually been to Aspen, much less ski there.

"Damn Rockies" is an _expression you use when you can't find a parking spot Downtown.

During a thunderstorm you wonder which I-25 underpass is flooding.

If it rains more than 2 days straight you compare the weather to being in Seattle.

If the humidity gets above 25%, you consider it muggy.

People driving on the 16th Street Mall are considered "tourists".

The biggest event of the year is the Western Stock Show.

The only RTD bus you've been on is the 16th Street shuttle.

The two major newspapers have the same owner, yet one insists on making its own rules regarding what to call the new stadium.

There is not enough money in the world to get you to move to the Springs.

When giving directions, you never say "Turn left, turn right", it's always go West, then South.

When the Broncos are losing you refer to them as the "Donkeys".

You think 5-Points is a ghetto.

You are the third car to run a red light after it has changed.

You consider LoDo a tourist trap with expensive condos.

You have a broken windshield.

You have absolutely no recognizable accent.

You have been skiing less than 3 times in your life.

You know that "The Narrows" refers to I-25 between University and Broadway

You know where the city ended when you were a kid, and would never move further out than that boundary.

You merge onto the highway at 15 miles an hour.

You never plan a picnic between 3:30 and 6:00 in Spring or Summer months.

You only go to Lodo when friends are in from out of town.

You say things like "I don't care how big Parker is, it's still a one-horse town".

You see no reason to travel to Aurora, and consider it a part of Kansas.

You think most of the people in Colorado Springs are religious freaks.

You think the rest of the freaks live in the "People's Republic of Boulder."

You voted for higher taxes to fund Coors field, but voted down taxes for public transportation.

Thornton, Northglenn and Westminster are "Another State".

Btw, here's the clubs I belong to:

Wow haven't written anything in here in awhile....

Got a new/old camera the other day, an old polaroid automatic 100 in perfect condition for 2 bucks at a thrift store, just needs film and a battery. Which, of course, will cost me an arm and a leg. But that's ok cause it takes Polaroid 669 film, so I'll be able to do fun polaroid transfers and whatnot with it, yay! So there should be some cool stuff coming as soon as I have money to buy the above items.

School's ok, I like astronomy (of course) and sci fi lit, illustrator II blows, and I haven't started english yet. Illustrator I have a crapass teacher, he's already started assigning lame-o projects that have little to do with actually learning illustrator. Actually, I've about had enough of the entire graphics program at my school. The teachers they get are pretty much people that can't really get a job in the field, so they end up teaching, and most of them are crap and don't really know what they're talking about. And it's gotten to the point where I'm not even being challenged to do good stuff anymore. So therefore I think I've come to the decision to quit the program and just finish off my basics at Red Rocks, work for a year or two and then hopefully go here: [link]
I'm pysched about this school, it appears to be really nice, and looking through the student galleries the quality of the work is really good... check out the difference on the site above compared to my current school's: [link]

Woohoo! I leave tomorrow! Just got all done packing here.

Today my family opened presents, since I won't be here for christmas. I got a leather jacket, MYST 4, a flash drive, a watch, and money, with which I went out and bought a pair of green converses, woohoo! I'd take a picture of them, but the camera is already packed.

Saturday was fun, we did a version of The Amazing Race with my church's youth group all over denver, and my team actually won, which was a miracle, considering it was myself, another staffer, and three uncooporative middle school/freshmen boys. Basically we had eight envelopes with the clues in them, and each clue had stuff we had to find at a given location, or a riddle or cypher of some sort. We couldn't open the next clue until we'd gotten everything on the first one.
All in all, we went to:
the baseball stadium
the largest library in denver
a bank building
johnny rockets for lunch
the capitol building
the art museum
the largest bookstore in denver
red rocks ampitheatre
a hobby store where we had to play that little lord of the rings painted miniature game
back to the church

by the time everyone got to the hobby store we were beat, so we just kinda declared that the first team there was the winner, and that was mine. We beat everyone by about 15 minutes, it was great. Good reward for a long day.

And a note on the status of my computer. I took it in, and the guy said it would be $400 bucks to replace the drive, and I wouldn't be able to get a dvd drive in it. He said it would be cheaper just to buy a new computer for 800 than to replace it. And I also told him that my screen had started flickering (it's an eMac so it has a CRT screen), and he said that's practically a death sentance for eMacs............ soooooo I might be getting a new computer sometime. *sighs*

Well anyways, see you all in a week! I'll pop in while I"m gone sometime

However, tonight I am trying to clean up my submissions, so a lot of my older stuff is getting edited with better looking borders, so that's what's going on if you get a bazillion deviations from me in your messages.

Also I"m leaving for Florida on monday (20th) so I won't be here for a week (get back the 27th), but I might pop in a couple times at my boyfriend's house to see what's going on while I"m there.
I cleaned my room, wheeeeeee..... boring, but at least the pile of crap that's been slowly building up is gone. I *think* I got an A in all my classes, Fencing, Astronomy, and Flash for sure at least. I aced both of my astronomy final tests, woot! Even got all the bonus questions right And I got 100% on my flash website, only person in the class to do so, woohoo

Next semester I'm taking English Comp I, Sci Fi Lit, Astronomy II, and Illustrator II, should be a good semester.... all my classes are over three days, instead of five like this previous semester.

I got all my christmas shopping done (yay!), now I'm just working on my christmas cards, which I posted the artwork for. So for all my friends on here, here's your christmas card from me
I'm leaving for Florida on Monday to visit my boyfriend for a week for christmas, yaaaaaaaaaaay! I think we're going to Cape Canaveral and Busch Gardens, should be fun fun fun. I don't know how much I'll be on towards the end of this week, I have to get my computer fixed (cd drive broke) so I'll be using my mom's up until I leave. But until then, I'm busy working on some art that's been floating around in my head all semester, so hopefully there'll be some cool new stuff up soon

Saw Ocean's 12 friday, totally awesome movie, even if I didn't understand what was going on. But definitely go see it, it's as good as the first one.

Sorry, didn't have time this morning to write more than this! I would first have my parent's house totally remodeled, and then if I'm still living at home I would move to a nice apartment in Florida, setting aside money for my future wedding, and a vespa. And then with the money left over, I would buy an old motel and renovate it into a charity art/graphic design school for poor/troubled kids, associated with a currently-in-place reading charity. And since that would prolly be most of my money, I would have to get companies to fund it after that.
Gosh I've been busy again! School is driving me bonkers, I am NEVER home. I can't wait till my fencing class ends on the 4th, then I'll at least have my thursdays free to do whatever. It's getting to the point where I'm not even getting my homework done because I have no time. Hopefully next semester my schedule will be better.

Anyways, been working furiously on my flash website, trying to get at least the artwork done within the next week or so I have GOT to stop torturing myself with these waaay too detailed projects and do easy stuff, hehehe... what my brain was thinking when I decided to do different vectors of myself on each bloody page I'll never know. Oh well, too late to change it now. I got a 98%, plus 3 extra points for a total of 101% on my astronomy midterm test, I was psyched. Not so sure however on my photography midterm I took last night, I have a feeling I messed some things up.

Went to my favorite band's concert last friday (Orange County Supertones), that was awesome! Instead of intro music from a CD, they had a mariachi band come out and play, which was totally cool. They're a Ska band, and normally they have two brass players, but apparently friday nights on this tour of theirs are "Heavy Metal Fridays" so all sorts of crazy things are bound to happen.... like all the members of the other bands coming out and trying to play brass with the tones, and on the last song coming out in choir robes and doing the whole clap and sway thing, heehee, plus all sorts of heavy metal moves... sooo funny... I managed to get right up against the rail in front for the whole thing, woohooooo! And afterwards I got my CD and shirt signed. It was good times

And as of today my boyfriend and I have been officially going out for 20 months - jst 4 more till the 2 year mark! *eep* I hope I get to see him in december

I've been working on a large vector piece again, there's a sneak preview in my scraps. Also, a very large vector map of Middle-earth has been an ongoing off and on project over about 6 months now. It's about 15% completed at the moment, but I have not submitted any previews of it or anything... maybe someday soon. Other than that, new devID, new avatar, my photoshop midterm and that's about it. Haven't really had much time to work on anything else, hehehe, except in my photoshop class cause it's sooooo booring, so I bring various projects to it to work on them on the G5s in the classroom
If you've downloaded any sets from me, please redownload them! I added a couple more brushes to my first egyptology set, and as I straighten out the second egypt set there'll be a couple more added to it as well.

And suckily I came down sick last night, I think it was like 24 hour flu or something - missed work today cause I felt crappy, bleh.... anyways, I'm feeling a little better now, managed to go to my class tonight so that was good.

And I got to talk to my boyfriend over aim tonight for a little bit, he survived Hurricane Frances ok, just lost a few branches and got lots and lots of rain and their power was out for 36 hours. He still hasn't gotten his net back yet (he was on at his church when I talked to him), so it might be a few days again before I hear from him

I guess that's about it besides me attempting to redo and catalogue my pictures better - I realized I've lost a couple originals of some of the photos I have up on here - luckily I think my boyfriend still has them, just need to pester him into sending me them when he gets his net back, hehe. I mentioned this in my last entry, but I'm also going to be resubmitting a lot my photos, and deleting others. The reason for this is a) most of my older stuff is crap I can't stand, and b) I'm trying to make things more uniform in my gallery with borders and such, cause I'm a freak that likes stuff to look the same. Pretty much my "official" border will look like the one on "The Bravest Thing"

And one other note before I go! I've moved all my wallpapers to my scraps gallery cause I didn't like them in my main gallery, so if you want them they're in there!

Check out ! The deep of space is no place for a fragile human soul.
The rockets burn as servos click and turn,
and fall into their place.
Robots can't cry,
don't laugh,
can't die,
In the darkness of space.
He is strong, made of steel with the graphite lining,
Watch his eyes flicker slow like the batteries are dying.

Space Robot 5,
Is he alive?
So very alone,
So far from home.

Three strands of wire,
Threefold the tie that binds.
She is the one thing on the earth for which he still pines.
To his heart she was life,
So he prays to his Maker with a sigh,
As his fire sputters out,
Because robots never cry.

- Space Robot Five - Brave Saint Saturn

Just in case everyone wonders why some older stuff of mine (particularly photographs) will be showing up in their messages, I'm going through and making all my images more uniform and adding a watermark. I might get off my butt too and post some newer stuff that I have lying around doing nothing but take up space on my HD, I dunno!

I have GOT to stop staying up till 4am, I was dead at work today - I still haven't gotten back on my school sleep schedule, which is gonna be weird cause I have classes all over the board. School's going ok - have to take 40 pictures of one object for photo, and make 3 animated .gifs for flash.

What sucks right now is that my mom and I seem to keep getting in little spats, for the most part because she doesn't listen to me when I tell her stuff, like my work schedule, and then she ends up asking me like 5 times in a day about it, and that ticks me off and I lose it.... I feel bad about it, but I can't seem to help it, it just comes out. And sometimes I"ll come home and have a question to ask her, and she'll be on the computer and just totally ignore me, and I'll have to repeat myself like five times. *sighs* I don't like sounding like I'm a jerk... and tonight I kinda lost it when she asked me about my work schedule again, cause my boyfriend told me he might get evacuated again because of hurricane frances, and that has me worried, of course... *sigh* I dunno

Anyways, that's all...

Check out ! They're a brand new mac users group, pretty cool.
I've been shuffling around the house for the last two days now, my legs hurt so bad. But I'll stop whining now, the concert was awesome! Although the stupid hockey stadium they had it at always has the bass up waaaaaaaaay too loud *muttermutter*

Anyways, life is finally starting to slow down. Most of July I was busy with my job (stupid convention that we hosted), and then my relations came out (too many of them!), and then my boyfriend (YAY!), and then I helped out with vacation bible school at my church the first week of august. PLUS I got a new job at the local library as a page, and quit my old job (hurrah!). So now I have roughly two weeks of nothing to do until school starts on the 23rd (I'm rather excited about that, even though my schedule is hell). I'm taking astronomy, flash, illustrator II, digital photography, and fencing, so it should be an interesting semester.

And on a side note, I have a bazillion photographs I really should post sometime..... but I have to clean my room first

And now from the Land of Randomness....

The Orange Desk
In One Act

Now hear the tale of the orange desk, and listen well! Once upon a time, in a very far place, lived a boy named cutler. And in this boy's room there lived a desk. Not a very extraordinary desk, quite normal in fact, with a handsome fake wood finish, a scratched but still smooth top, and two drawers for storage of office supplies. Now it so happened that one day the boy cleaned his room, and prominately displayed his oddly shaped toy from the land of matrix on the shelves in the room, and the desk was very upset about this. For it wanted to be prominately displayed in such a way as this, to have all the glory and fame and worship. So one day, after much plotting, it told the ruler (who had Action Packets, Inc. written on its back in big bold letters) in its drawers that it wished to take its revenge on the boy and his toy. The ruler pondered this for awhile, and decided to go on a quest to the land of mountains and grass where it was rumored that there was paint and ropes of strong steel to be obtained for reasonable rates (the ruler you see was a bargain hunter of the worst sort). So it set off on the quest, flipping along as only rulers can do. Well, it completed its task in a year and a day, and got the paint and the rope for the fare of $29.99. But alas the poor ruler was too tired for the trip back. So it hired the humanoid pineapple to bring back the items for 5¢ a day (the pineapple was a rather stupid fruit). Well, the pineapple finally made it back to the little boys room, taking twice as long to reach it as the ruler took to get to the land of mountains and grass (Humanoid pineapples walk very slowly using their leafy tops, so as not to bend any fragile blades). Glad to see the items at last after three years and three days of waiting, the desk then laboured throughout the long midwinter's night with its croonies the paintbrush and the scissors, arranging things. And in the cold winter's morning, the boy woke to find the desk painted a particularly lurid shade of orange and hanging from the ceiling. And with a cry of "I AM PROMINENT!" the desk leapt from it's cradle of steel rope to hurdle down upon the boy and the toy, taking its revenge and killing both instantly. To this day the desk is known to lurk in brightly lit art galleries, prominently displayed, intent on destroying every with more glory in spotlights than it.

The End

It was working perfectly fine the day before, and then yesterday I turned it on and it wouldn't scroll. But every other button worked fine, and it played music. My school's scheduling sucks, half the classes I wanted to take overlap by 15 minutes, so you basically have to pick which one you really really want... and then out of those half of them are on tuesday nights, which is when my college prayer group is. So basically I have to miss it for a whole semester. And I'm gonna waste so much gas driving back and forth from school because three days a week I have a morning class, and then an evening class, with nothing inbetween. bah.
Well I just spent all tonight job-hunting. I still have my current job at a costume store, but it's getting to be so high-stress (busy store, skeleton crew, cranky boss, nothing getting done, etc) that I don't think I can stand it for much longer. Besides the fact that I'm getting a little bored with the work and would like to try something different. So I started the quest tonight. And surprisingly, I found three possible jobs. One's working at a summer graphic design camp for kids, which I think would be a blast, the second is a graphic design assistant with the local Open Space department which would be good experience for me, and the third is just a shelving job at a local library, which I've always wanted to try. What cracks me up is the shelving job pays more than my current job now, hehehe.... so anyways, I'm hoping one of these pans out (or I come across something else) and I'll be able to get out of my current job...

If you hear of jobs in denver that are something I might like lemme know! (graphic design-related preferred) I'm even up for a little freelance design work
