I was contacted today by ballistic publishing, one of my pieces (afgan steampunk) will be featured in Exotique 4! This has literally been one of my dreams since I heard about these amazing books.

I received a full time job as a concept artist a couple weeks ago...I completely quit school and started work.
But what does this all mean? It means that everything my teachers said about being a concept artist is absolutely true. It’s the hardest work you’ll ever do in your life but you love every minute of it, when I am at home I wish I was at work, it’s the greatest feeling in the world to know that I am helping a company towards success.

'You're ready for Art Center"
These are the words I heard from Admissions when I showed them my portfolio for the first time this afternoon. Words can not even express how excited was to hear that, years of hard work and dedication to what I love most (art) has paid off. I unfortunately will (upon acceptance if I decide to go) lose all my credits from my current college I am attending. My boyfriend and I have a few rather difficult decisions to make now. I know what I want for myself and I am pursuing a career as an industry professional, not an entry level job worker. I know a school like art center would guide me toward my career goal.

This is a personal declaration to end injustice upon fellow artists,

Something’s been really bothering me lately, it is perhaps to my own demise that I share my innermost feelings in a public forum such as this; I hope that my words will be heard and taken note of. Perhaps I am hoping that someone else out there feels the same way I do. That’s all we as individuals strive for, no matter how “individual” we are, we all ultimately just want to be understood.

I find many of my peers asking for my opinion, or “showing me” their artwork inadvertently asking for my opinion (I mean otherwise why are you showing me?). Yet when I view a piece of artwork many thoughts, opinions and critiques roll into my head.
But I don’t tell people how I feel, I remember when I was at that level and someone told me what they thought I couldn’t see what they were talking about. It takes time to see issues with your composition, I never asked opinion (nor do I now) on every composition I draw, yet I see so many others do it. It takes time guys, not every piece is going to be good. But being in school I feel that as a student you should have a damn good grasp on what you can and can not draw by now.
Upon viewing and giving opinion on someone’s artwork, I feel as though I have lied to this person, I can feel my true opinion well up inside my body, and yet I stop myself, and I have to ask myself why? I now see that I am doing more of an injustice to my fellow friends and peers.
I am a caring person, I don’t want to hurt people, but I am not telling them what’s wrong, which is more wrong than telling them "I love it!".

When I ask for a critique, I would be hurt if I wasn’t to receive honesty, blatant brutal honesty helps me grow as an artist. I know that I am at a level where I need it desperately, as a student wanting to become a respected industry professional at some point in my life, I know that I can take most any critique a person can dish out.

Bought myself a Wacom Intuos 3 9x12 for 350 bucks on ebay last oct.
Loving the thing but i haven't had much time to use it I think I've only done 6 pieces with it.
