So this weekend was the 1st annual Chestertown Book Festival and it's been really fun. A bunch of local authors (three of whom I know personally and two of whom I've met in passing) gave talks at the bookstores.

That's why I love Chestertown, with in three blocks of my house there are four bookstores and a library. Plus there's the local book club that meets every six weeks o so. That's whee I'm headed in a little bit, off to a open book club where all the local book clubs get together and talk about what they've read.

So I got back from the book club meeting a while ago. It was really fun discussing all the books and getting everyone's opinions on new books. Then we divided up into groups and played trivia. There were prizes and food too!

Hi there!

Alright, so no more writer's block for me! I wrote two poems last night and I intend to write more today. So there's going to be an influx in submissions. I'm partitially into the 6th installment of "The Magic Stones" so you can expect that in a few days. I also took time last night to do some revising on my Erotic Vampire series so those are all updated and fixed. I'm also going to add the 6th one, which I don't like as much as the others, but it deserves some love too. Evernesta's coming slowly. I have some good idea on how to fix some of the plot snags as soon as I get past the damned wall I just hit.

I got the new Sherrilyn Kenyon book and as soon as I finish one of the other three I'm reading at the moment I'll jump right into "Bad Moon Rising". Spoiler alert if you don't know who this book is about yet..... But I'm thrilled cause it's a Fang / Aimee book! FINALLY!

So I finished the book, read it in two days. If I hadn't of had other things to do I would have read it through in one sitting. God, it was good. It's my new fav book in the series. I love Fang and Aimee. I'm just glad that I finished the book at home and not while we were out, hanging out at the Whistle. Why? Cause I bawled my eyes out at the end. It was so sad. She's killed character before, but the two that went down in this book...... It won't be the same without them.

When did you start writing?
Seriously writing? The poetry started in my 10th or 11th grade year. The short stories followed shortly thereafter.

Which hand do you use for writing?
Both if I'm typing but I'm right handed

Which is easier to write: Fixed or freeform?
Personally it depends on my mood and the topic of the poem but I think they're pretty evenly easy for me to write

Which is easier to write: Love poems or sociopolitical poems?
Sappy love poems about what I lost or what I what or can't have. Way too much inspiration on that front.

Is it easier to write indoors or outdoors?
It's not a matter of easier cause when I get inspiration I write where ever I am. Most of my writing is done indoors but that's morally for convenience sake.

Is it easier to write with pen and paper or typing?
It's really annoying for me in a note book. I do most of my writing straight on the computer first, it's quick, easy to edit, and neater. But I do keep notebooks with hard copies of all my poetry as a back up.

At the moment my damned novel is giving the most problems.

Other then fantasy elements there's really not anything specific

Vacation is dying down now and we're leaving tomorrow. Back to Chestertown and back to a six hour gap with my family. I'll miss them, really I will.

Anyway, I read two books while on vaca down here:

One was "City of Thieves" for my book club. It was a good book about the fall of Leningrad and the struggle of two boys trying to survive against all odds and collect a very strange prize -- a dozen eggs.

The other was "My Sister's Keeper" -- the movie is out in theaters now. I cried.... I don't want to give away too much but go read it!!!!!!

So with all the ruckus and hubbub going on in my life I haven't been writing much. I've hardly written any new poems and most of the work being done on Evernesta at the moment has just been revisions, nothing new. I did write a play, but that kinda sucked until Becky put in her two cents.

I need a new project to get my creative juices flowing and I think I got it. I haven't written a short story in ages so that is the route I'm taking. Unfortunately the plot of the story I have in mind is a Sci Fi plot and I SUCK at writing descent Sci Fi.

So then why am I giving myself this extra burden? Why not stick to a genre I know? Because the idea came from a crazy dream I had last night and the gist of the scenario is hugely Sci Fi based -- so I'm gonna try it.

So thanks to contests for writing clubs here on DA I wrote a new short story! I just sat back and wrote a page and a half in one sitting. And I think it turned out really well. Yea! :boggie: I'm back!

That’s a hard one... either "The Shadow Queen", the newest Anne Bishop book or the Savannah Vampire series by Raven Hart... Then there's always Anita and Merry.

"The Vampire's Seduction" by Raven Hart. That's the first book in her series and it's so good I guarantee you'll want to read the next four!

In the spirit of the month I took advantage of the new critique feature. I opted for it on some of my stories but mostly on my poetry. I think it'll help.

April is national poetry month. I knew this because of all the really cool events going on here in Chestertown. But it slipped my mind to write yesterday but that will be my only slip up and I'm witting 2 today.

As a rule of thumb you write a poem a day for the duration of April and here's my jumping off place and my promise to do this and not slack.

Since Rob can be called by many different names it is hard to be able to know what the person is like.

A vast, lively city that is never the same twice. It looks like your typical mild-mannered, politically correct city, but the area's residents know that it is far more. Truly uplifting people, amazing turnouts for sporting events, lots of beer, Pennsylvania's largest concentration of Gothic Lolitas, a wonderful indie music scene, and some great colleges.

Also, there is so much water. Three rivers meet at an area Pittsburghers have come to call The Point, and there's a cool fountain and picnic area there. Pittsburgh is also notorious for flooding.

Finally, Pittsburgh's weather is off-the-wall. It's May as I'm writing this, and we had snow two weeks ago, warm-ish rain last week, and this week we're expecting it to be cold. Still.
Going on vacation? Come to Pittsburgh. You may have to stay in Monroeville because there aren't any hotels in the city, but look on the bright side--it's only a twenty-minute ride from any of our suburbs to the city itself...!

So yeah, there was a book club meeting on Monday and I was so excited about it. We read "Running With Scissors" which I suggested. Personally I liked the book. I had read it years ago and was really happy that Lannie (the lady who runs the club) picked it.

But that's where the happy ends. No one liked it. They all HATED the book with a passion. Most people hated it so much they didn't even come. There were five of there and I was the only one there who wasn't bashing it.

Lannie tried to make feel better by telling me that there was one book that was recieved worse then this one. I forget what book, but they bashed it for ten minutes and then ended up at the bar. We bashed "Running..." for twenty minutes and then talked about other books, so that must mean something.

But the thing that makes this worse for me is that the last book we read, "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" had a huge turn out. There weren't enough chairs for people and we moved out of the office into the actual bookstore. People were sitting in children's chairs and on the counter. So to be such a flop after that...

AKA How much of a dork I am at the moment. Where to begin, where to begin?


So the book I suggested, "Running With Scissors" is what we are currently reading and I get to lead the next discussion. This book is f*ck*ng hysterical! My mother originally suggested it to me and I read it a long, long, time ago. Ohmigawd! I'd forgotten at least half of the shit that goes down in it! I'm almost through it and I'll probably reread it since I'm gonna be in charge, but that won't be a problem.

I suggest this book to anyone who loves comedy, who thinks their family is crazy (cause the one in the book is worse, believe me), and anyone who believes in the phrase fact is stranger then fiction.


Nothing new per say from chess club. I'm still getting my ass kickd by eight-year-olds. I'm still opening up early for the little kids who got used to coming to the library early but the hours are back to normal so we're there from like 3:30 til 6. Not that you care....

Here's the big one. Adam, one of the guys who runs the Tuesday chess club and comes to the Thursday one, is a teacher at one of the local schools so he has access to all these crazy teaching supplies. He knows I was an English major so he lent me a couple of DVDs called "The Great Courses" made by the Teaching Company. There are a whole bunch from English to Art to Music to Philosophy ect... So basically I've been watching lectures on how to become a better writer.

So yeah.... That's about it....

Ok, do you know how damned annoying it is when you can't remember the name of something? I hate that. Something, I don't even remember what, made me think of a play I read in college. And no matter how hard I though I couldn't remember the damned title. It was driving me crazy since like yesterday.

I can recite the plot easily.

There was this woman who killed her husband and the male investigators were checking out the crime scene to see what happened and their wives are there with the accused woman and they investigate the woman's kitchen and find the true motive.

But for the life of me I couldn't recall the name of it or the author, or when it was written. So I went digging on the internet today for like an hour trying to sort through lists of plays written from like the 18th century to the 20th century trying to track down the title I knew I would recognize easily.

Finally I typed plot cues into Google and found the damned thing. It wasn't on the list for 1900's plays I was looking through because I went back and checked after I got the right name.

It was called "Trifles" and was written by Susan Glaspell in 1916.

In other news that most of you may find a little more interesting then what is written above -- are you laughing? Yes? No?

Anyway, I have my next book club tomorrow night and I really enjoyed the book. It was called "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" and was written by Mohsin Hamid.

I read it while I was home in Mars and I recommend it to anyone who finds this little blurb remotely interesting. Basically, it's the story of a successful Pakistan man living in New York and how his life changes after 9/11. I really can't write anything else without telling too much.

I finished it! I finally finished it... For the last two or so days I've been working on the last fairy tale in the series, Snow White. It's the longest and the most complicated.

But anyway have have reading about my fairy tale couples. And just remember: not all fairy tales have happy endings...

Erotic supernatural versions of fairy tales. I wanted to call them Gothic Erotica but, as my roommate pointed out, Gothic styles are more then just vampires, incubi, and succubae, which are the majority.

So what inspired this? The procurement of The Grimm Brothers' tales (although I haven't read any of them yet) and a little bit of choice material here and there.

ie - me being a total bookworm and dork. So let me apologize to those of you who have no idea what any of this means.


So here's the latest news from the world of the authors I adore and admire. Sherrilyn Kenyon and Laurell K Hamilton both released new books on November 4th. Now I had pre-ordered both months ago and promptly received them in the mail on the 5th.

Sherrilyn's book "One Silent Night" is the next installment in the Dark Hunter series. It's next on my list to read and I'm excited to learn more about Striker. Ash's book, the previous one, came out in August so i haven't been waiting too long.

But then there's Laurell. She writes at least two series at once as well as other random books so hers come out less frequently. I happily found the title to the next Anita Blake novel. "Skin Trade" is schedules for 2009.

But at the moment I am gushing about the new Merry Gentry book "Swallowing Darkness". Seeing how the last book, "A Lick of Frost", came out in October of 2007 I've been dying for a new fix of Princess Meridith and her pretty pretty Ravens (her royal guard for those of you who don't know). Other then the first three chapters, which I read periodically through the evening, I shut myself up in my room with the book a little after 12 AM and finished it a little before 5 AM.

Thoughts? OHMIGAWD! The best one out the whole series! I laughed. I cried. I screamed at the characters. I.... can't give anything away in case some of you are a fan and haven't read it yet!

In other book news I have been trolling the lock bookstore for a copy of the Grimm Brothers' faerie tales and the owner couldn't find a copy while I was there so I left empty handed and he promised to continue the hunt through his back room / stock area. I called today and he found a copy! But it was more then I had planned for. It's an anthology of all of their stories PLUS all of Hans Christian Andersen's tales.

I'm floored........

No

Agaist it. I'm prolife all the way. A child is a child and no one has the right to take away someone's life before it begins. Abstain from sex or use protection if you don't want children. Consider adoption. The only time I will waver is if a woman is raped and she takes the morning after pill. Otherwise I cannot condone murder of an innocent.

4. Do you think the world would fail with a female president?

Absolutely not. It should not matter if the prseident is black, white, male, or female. What matters is their ideals and their skills at being a leader. A person's gender should not automatically dictate their capabilitiies to fix the problems facing our nation.

5. Do you believe in the death penalty?

Personally no. Now I know that the prisons are overflowing but that's not the point. If we punish murder with death does the family of the convict have the right to kill the exocutioner? Does that person's family have the right to kill the convict's family? It would turn into a vicious cycle that would end with no one left alive. An eye for an eye can only go so far and be justified. Why is the response to violence more violence?

6. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?

I don't see the point of drugs. Yes, I drink but I have have never approved of the use of recreational drugs. If people want to smoke tabacco fine. But I don't see the point of getting high or stoned so I think it should stay illegal.

7. Are you for or against premarital sex?

I'm actually going to answer this really personally. I'm 27 and a virgin. And right now in my life I don't see a point in going out and having sex just to have sex. I'm not the person who is comfortable with the thought of having one night stands. Now if I had a steady boyfriend and I was in a serious, committed relationship then yes, I would give myself completely before marriage if my b/f felt the same way.

8. Do you believe in God?

I believe in God. I always have and I always will. Over the years my views on religion and spirituality have changed greatly and I've from Cathalic to New Age to just spiritual and mixing a little bit of this and that to form what I truly believe.

9. Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?

Why should the government dictate who can love whom? Love is love no matter how you look at it and if people want to express themselves then the church and the government should back down and stay out of people's personal lives.

10. Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?

Honestly I didn't know that this was a problem here and now. I'm all for offering political asylem and keeping America the melting pot it was originally meant to be. But do it legally.

11. A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?

Oh God. Why was she pregnant in the first place? Because she had consentual sex? No twelve year old should be having sex in any way, shape, or form. No twelve year old is ready to care for a baby of her own. I think the family should take care of the child as opposed to having a completely different family adopt it.

12. Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?

I'm going to split hairs with this one. It's not about age, it's about maturity level. I know plenty of people who are between 18 and 21 and they are not mature enough to drink responsibly. You have to be aware of the situations around you and what could happen. Is an 18 year old dumb enough to drink until they're piss ass drunk or drink and drive? Are 21 year olds? Are 40 year olds? Yes. So let's not lower the legal age.

13. Should the war in Iraq be called off?

Yes. This has gone on long enough.

14. Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?

Not really likely at this point, but don't read this if you haven't finished the "Twilight" series by Stephanie Meyer.

Ok, so I finally got around to reading "Breaking Dawn" and.... well..... Yeah. "Twilight" was good and "New Moon" was ok, but it didn't compare to the original. "Eclipse" failed to hold my attention and I really didn't like it.

Perhaps that was part of the reason I put off picking up "Breaking Dawn". I got the book the day it came out but I just finished it earlier this morning.

The beginning was slow and it took me the first 100 or so pages to get into it. But then I couldn't put it down. I loved it and just wanted to read until I finished it. It quickly became my undisputed favorite of the four. But then I hit the end....

And I was so disappointed with it. I didn't see it coming at all. I wanted a big huge climatic fight scene and some drama. Not build up and - POOF - everything's happy and everyone gets along. That annoyed me. It didn't seem like the plausible way things should have gone down with the confrontation built up that high.

I don't know.... I'm annoyed and that's the bottom line. Be unset and bitch at me if you want, but this is just my opinion.

And then I found out today about the movie.... The casting is annoying and the characters are off and the trailers.....

I don't know.
