Sooo I am going to spend this weekend in NYC for my birthday (which is today lol) and coincidentally I just found out the dA World Tour is making a stop there while I'm there! [link] Soooo who else is going? I'd love to meet up with y'all! <3

Oh and everything else.... meh... it's going better than before.. slowly things are turning around. My confidence & self-esteem are coming back, my ex & I are starting to succeed at the staying friends thing. Job search is still sucky but he has one he just started that will quadruple the child support once he starts getting paid so that helps. Still working on begging my muse to make her return.. she's being shy at the moment & only showing up in small spurts.

Artistic Minds, Inc

Just a note to any who have purchased my AMI tubes/images. Due to, well, personal reasons I am ending my contract with AMI in June. I've been teetering on leaving for a bit & finally decided it's time. You will be able to buy my tube/image packs until June 15th but after that I'll be figuring out what I'm going to do. You'll still be able to use any tubes/images you bought thru AMI with that license however after June 15th they will no longer be available at all. I am retiring those tubes. AMI is putting a sale on them the last couple weeks so once that starts go grab them if you want. My *taterstock is all still free to use as per the TOUs.

Also, my muse is slowly creeping back.. I'm working on a new Poser character that my Beta testers can expect in a week or so and a line of clothes in SecondLife so hopefully I'll be back to somewhat of my old self and rendering soon. Hubby & I are still in the divorce process but I think once that is finalized I'll finally be able to start healing and moving on. Right now I just feel like I'm in limbo.

[ Starting over isn't easy ]

Sorry I haven't been around much.. my muse has disappeared... you'd think since she thrives on emotion that she'd be stronger than ever but quite honestly I have opened Poser and PSP and nada.. nothing.. blank. I'm still looking for a job so i guess being broke doesn't help. I'm having to put off the divorce till i can afford it but I am still going through with it. Hubby's been out of the house since January but it doesn't seem to get any easier.

Anyway, I don't mean to come here whining.. just thought I'd let you all know why I haven't been around. Hopefully my muse will come back soon.. I miss her.

Prints Deactivated

I have hereby deactivated my Prints due to the "new" policy dA has on TRACING. I know my art isn't likely to be traced however it's the principal of the thing. Tracing is NOT ART no matter how you look at it. You are tracing someone else's artwork. I did that when I was a KID and LEARNING but I never ever posted it anywhere claiming I was the original artist. If dA had a LEARNING category then I might consider it fair. However too many people treat dA as a MySpace with prettier pictures and throw up anything they find on Google and that's NOT RIGHT. So throw me in with the ANTI-TRACING crowd and be warned because there are a LOT of us, dA!

Fresh start

I would have posted yesterday but I was still rather emotional. I am now a single mum. If you didn't already, read back a couple of journals about hubby's bipolar. Well, For the 2nd time he's cheated on me and lied about it to my face so he's gone. I can't put myself through this anymore. It's not fair to me or the kids. I've been giving this marriage everything the past year since his last affair and apparently it wasn't good enough for him. So I'm moving on.

I may be away from dA for a bit as I now need to get a job to support my kids.. he has said he'll still support us but he has a problem with honesty so I can't really trust that. I'm applying as a substitute teacher at my kids' school so cross your fingers that I get it... I know I'll have to figure something out over the summer but this is the most sure thing right now.

Thanks for the support & shoulders to cry on (you know who you are & I love you for it). Right now I'm numb but I'm sure I'll need to cry again sometime. In a way it's a relief. Now I can start over and do things my way and not have to worry about what he thinks.

I am still taking commissions as I need the cash but they may take some time to complete... If you wanna help out but don't wanna wait on a commission you can always peek thru my Prints & see if anything sparks your interest. For those who use Poser I also have stores at [link] and at [link]

Dealing with insanity in a spouse when you're slightly insane yourself kinda sucks.

Trying to figure out where to start.. Ok so 2 years ago my husband was diagnosed with Bipolar after a breakdown & ending up in the ER psych room on Thanksgiving night. He's not one to keep it a secret.. in fact he always jokes that he doesn't know how "normal" people manage without the mania. Looking back he had all the precursors for it, but no one ever put it all together.

I am cyclothymic which is kinda like bipolar but not exactly. Basically I'm moody and my biological father is bipolar so I get the fragments. I'm having a really hard time right now because hubby is on a downward spiral more than usual and it's scaring him.. and me. His bipolar has always been more productive-mania than depression until his breakdown 2 years ago now it's more depression. He's got a Dr appointment but they couldn't get him in till Feb. He's never been violent, although i have had to patch a few holes in the wall, and he's never been suicidal. But something happened during one of his manic phases last summer while he was off his meds and high on being a big shot in the recumbent bicycle world (he had just given a speech & was being lauded & actually signing autographs) that nearly wrecked our marriage. I won't go into details about that suffice it to say it was a very STUPID mistake that I saw coming. Since we called off the lawyers & went to marriage counseling our relationship has been better than it ever was before. I would never recommend it as a marriage fixer but seemed to work for us.. although I'm still working on trusting and my own self esteem.

I'm not really sure what my point is in writing this journal except that I had to get it out somewhere and I you guys so yeah. If anyone else is dealing with bipolar either in themselves or especially in a spouse/loved one I could really use some support right now. I had more to say but I can't really see well thru the tears.

Whew it's a scorcher out there... only 84Âº but after a summer of 70Âºs so far that's like a heatwave. hehe We're applying for a grant to make our house more energy efficient thanks to NYS (I New York when it comes to things like this) so soon the heat/cold shouldn't affect us as much as it has but till then.. I'm hogging the AC. hehe Oh and YAY for the oil price staying in the $120s all day! wewt wewt Let's hope & pray it stays lower...

Ok it's one thing when a blog hotlinks to a deviation and actually links to my dA but whe someone ELSE makes RULES for use of MY art.. THAT'S when I get PISSED. We live in a world where respect for other peopleÂs property is pretty much non existent, except for those few who believe strongly in respect and act accordingly.

We try to bring our kids up right, just as our parents did with us and those before them.

We hope what has been imparted has sunk in and that they will act accordingly.

Well, in a perfect world that would be true, but we donÂt live in a perfect world and rarely do we follow our own Âline of crapÂ as the younger generation would put it.

We teach our kids not to lie, cheat or steal, while doing those very things ourselves, then ask why our kids do them.

Well the answer to that is simple enough, look in a mirror.

Now, before anyone gets in a huff, there are a few questions you must ask yourself.

1 Have you ever left a store and realized the cashier short changed themselves and not gone back in to return the extra money your received?

2 Have you ever lied to someone about the way they looked, if you were too busy to spend time with them or, better yet, whether or not you had money when asked by your children or someone else if they could borrow from you?

Blue, our Aussie Cattle Dog, has a new little sis Zoey the Puggle. Zo-Zo was born on Jan 23, 2008 and is a CUTE little firecracker. They're really the perfect pair... Blue now has a "job" in keeping track of Zoey & Zoey has someone to play with & who can keep up with her energy. So this makes 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs, & 2 cats in our house. We're totally Noah's Arking it. haha I have pics posted of her on my Flickr so check her out!

In other news, work is keeping me busy busy as usual... but hubby & I are planning a vacay to Martha's Vineyard next month and a trip to LA for a big recumbent bike rally in June just after my birthday. Never been to Cali so I'm SUPER excited.

Yes a "face" that dA asn't seen in several months.. nearly a year O_o I have so neglected my beloved dA. *sigh* So much has gone on.. full time job in SecondLife that hasn't allowed much time for anything other than being a mum, near divorce then reconciliation, and day to day mum stuff. I HAVE however been able to render so I will be posting a lot of new stuff so be watching for it.

I miss all my dA friends soooo much!! I so hope to be able to visit more but I can't guarantee I'll ever get back into posting as frequently as I had before I went back to work.

Have I mentioned I hate snow yet? Yes? well let me say it again..... I. Hate. Snow. I'd be perfectly happy if it snowed on Christmas Eve, hung around Christmas Day, & was gone by the time the 26th rolled around. It's not even so much the white stuff as the cold that comes with it. And the colds I get when it gets like this. I'm finally getting over this one which was pretty light compared to my usual.. just a bit of chest congestion now. Supposedly we'll be done with the 20 degree weather in a few days but I'll believe that when I see it.

ANYWAY enough whining about the weather, eh? lol I do have a job I LOVE so that's all good. My job has kept me extremely busy lately tho so if I owe you replies or you've noticed I haven't commented on any pieces recently, please forgive... I just don't seem to have enough time to do much lately. I have finished a piece finally.. not one of my best but still... something that was in my head trying to get out. I have another I'm working on but that'll take some time to complete. I'll try to get the finished piece uploaded today or tomorrow.

I miss being able to chat with my buds here & stuff, so I sure hope this all slows down a bit so I can post more often. :-\ Anyway, stay warm, stay well, and hugs to all!

6 weird or little known facts about me.... (hard b/c I'm an open book)

When I was in 9th grade was was waaay into NKOTB.. like REALLY obsessively into them. If you don't know who they were.. then God bless ya you're lucky. Think N'Sync of the late 80s/early90s.

I own The Passion of the Christ but never watched it.. still has the wrapper on. Honestly I'm afraid to. lol

I actually like to do the Macarena. Yup.. I do. Of course when I started doing it, it wasn't the Macarena.. we did it to Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus & a modified version to Escape Club's Wild Wild West back in '95. Yes, I love those annoying club dances. lol

I enjoy coloring with crayons... when I'm not doing my digi thing, that is.

I play my son's Larryboy and the Bad Apple GBA game when he's not looking. hehehe Bad mommy, right?

So I went to the Poser 7 Preview Party in Second Life & it was so much fun! lol I got lots of screencaps & wanted to share a few...

and I got to the party a, um, little early (nigh 3 hours). We danced to T1Radio, one of the popular SecondLife radio stations. [link] This is me, erm, Maia, dancing it up:

While we were waiting for the presentation to start they had a looping animation from Poser 7 running on TV screens around the room:

The presentation began a little later than planned but otherwise went off without a hitch. Well, unless you count 's avatar not being able to properly hold his drink (see pic) hehehe But we won't go there

Uli Klumpp, the Director of Product Development was the speaker & he explained in a little more detail the new features of Poser 7, why they were added, and what they do exactly. He also talked about where they hope to go with Poser in the future & answered many questions from users.

We got lots of virtual freebies including free t-shirts from eFrontier & T1Radio & dress clothes (aimed at those who joined SecondLife just for this lol), free virtual drinks (the one I had was an Apple Martini from a previous engagement)... all sorts of stuff. It was a lot of fun & it was great to hear voices of those responsible for my addiction. lol Oh! I forgot to mention... Mr Sato himself was there! The CEO of eFrontier!! I was flabbergasted that he showed up! Joe of Netherworks was there as well.. he's fun.. came dressed as Darth Vader. Somehow Lord Vader isn't as intimidating doing the hustle. lol Yup.. I had a blast. Can you tell? lol
