I've been in conversations with a few people on artists_beware (don't worry i'm not reporting anyone, this happened in another person's post), regarding my prices. and it's been brought to my attention that i am cheap. not horrifically, but to where i could be making a little bit more for the quality/skills i have. this has come from several different people.

so i'm considering raising my prices a little. not all of them, but some of the bigger projects. and none of them more that $10 at most. later tonight I'll be adjusting them, then I'll link here and see what you think.

part of my problem is I rarely get to commission people myself, and i usually don't pay attention to other people's prices. and when i think about how long it actually takes me to do some things, compared to the number of hours the price allots me (example: $30 = 3 hours at $10/hr), i'm seriously undercutting myself.

i'm not sure. this is more of a test than anything really. i've just seen a lot of artists who are about my level charging a lot more and i kinda went HMM, and inquired about it to others.

so yeah, stay tuned.

a note to those out there who post in the Job Offers: please let people know whether it's yay or nay. for those who get nays, it'd be really nice if you could y'know, send out a mass email, or post in the thread that the position has been filled. just something to let us nayees know what's going on. i really really dislike having to rely on the fact that two weeks with no response = you didn't get the job. seems rather rude to me.

Flat-colored bust commissions! NH funds!

P.S. What do people think of offering a commission/set of commissions in exchange for things on my wishlist? BAF totally accepts Paypal. And of course the amount of work would reflect the price paid for the jewelry. or easier yet, you can purchase BAF gift certificates. Yay or nay?

One of my favorite pasttimes is hanging out in BAF and adding to my wishlist stuff in my goal size (which is tentatively at 1/2"). Btw, i'm 00ga right now, the higher end of it, tho i do have smaller stuff.

Sometimes too I find some really cool shit i like despite them not being my size(s). Here's a couple of those.

got back from my extended weekend holiday in NH! and i have to go work in about an hour and a half. owwie owwie. 4 hours on the road, then i have to go work for 7 hours. why do i do this to myself? oh yeah, because i can't get enough hours scheduled between two departments (two shifts this week. SERIOUSLY.), so i have to take ANY extra hours they can give me.

anyway, YEAH! i got to see

AGAIN, goddammit. [LOL NAMEDROPPING] we got to go see Wolverine for Cassie's birthday, which was AWESOME. GOD Hugh Jackman's super extra hot in that movie. and guy playing Remy Lebeau? NOT A PROBLEM. i'm so in denial. the only thing i was bummed about was the fact that Gambit's eyes didn't do the pretty red and black thing they do when he uses his powers. they do the red, but no black, and that's one of the many reasons i liked him so much. pooh. we got to go drop in on Silvie afterwards, and that was really fun. got back to Draco's house at 5 am, and i'm still amazed her parents didn't catch us coming in at the ass-crack of dawn.

did some yarn hunting (unsuccessfully, i might add), got to go to the mall, pissed people off in Massachusetts, and generally rabble-roused. it was a fabulous weekend and it totes needs to be done again.

oh but i did end up tearing my right lobe. my plug fell out in the middle of the night the night before last and i didn't realize til we got up god knows how many years later. had some trouble getting it back in, but i managed with vit e oil. it pinched, but i didn't think anything of it seriously until i changed my jewelry and found dried blood a few hours later. TRAUMATIC I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW! over two years without a problem and all it takes is a couple hours naked to ruin it all. and i can't even downsize properly for a while til i can get my hands on 9mm glass again. *spits venom* all i can do is baby it like woah and not even look at anything 11mm for the next bajillion years. *pout*

OH GODDAMMIT I LEFT MY MAGIC HAT 6-PACK BEHIND. :< are you fucking kidding me? hurf.

i'm really really unhappy about this. i mean, i can get work done of my own volition, that's not the problem. i lose that setting. i lose working with a bunch of other art students, i lose that feedback and inspiration. and i lose critiques. i mean my friends on y! gal have been really good about helping me with my Thriving Ivy piece, but it's still not the same.

the plus sides here tho are: i have more time to collect/finish commissions and portfolio work of my own choosing, and that extra day could probably get me another shift at work. i'd love to be able to afford my own studio space (shared of course).

i'm terrified.

my Materials and Meanings teacher Jason (the one i'm so totally batty over) suggested to me a school in NYC. Fashion Institute of Technology. It's cheaper than CCNE by a couple grand and he said they could give me so much more than this place can. Plus it's in a nice neighborhood called Chelsea in Manhattan and the dorms are right across the street. I checked out the website and am playing with the idea of visiting the campus this summer.

but quite frankly, when i think about it, i'm scared shitless. it's NYC fer chrissakes! i tried talking Draco into coming with me for school, but so far not so good. i don't want to be all alone in a city like that. i love big cities but truth be told i'm a small-town girl who knows shit about getting around in a place like NYC. wouldn't know the first thing. and the stories i've heard? i'd get my throat slit the first night i'm there. i wouldn't be surprised: i am stupid enough for something like that.

and i'd be so much further away from my family. my parents are getting on in the years and it'd be a lot harder for me to go home if something were to happen.

on the other hand, i'd be psyched. i'd get to see all kinds of cool shit. CHINATOWN ANYONE?? and i've always always wanted to go.

Jason said if i decided to apply, he'd help me get together a portfolio and he'd write a recommendation for me. he's so awesome. and what's funny is he said he'd never encourage ANYONE to go to New York, except in this case he thought it'd be good for me. that i'd fit in with everything.

i'd go in a heartbeat if i wasn't so terrified. that and Draco and Davyn and i had plans to get an apartment in Salem for next year. i don't want to ruin that either.

Okay, my boss is officially an asshole. I wrote in on the little sheet that everyone gets that i wanted, no NEEDED, 35-40 hours in the next few weeks, and what does the fucktard do? 27 FUCKING HOURS NEXT WEEK.

And therefore I'm whoring myself out to the masses for cash. I have school to shop for. My dorm room and general expenses. And my damn car is dying to boot.

Pencil Sketches : $8

Inked : $10

CGed (Colored and inked) : $15

Real Media (colored pencil, markers, etc.) : $18

*Paintings (watercolors) : $20

*Paintings (acrylic) : $25

^usually are done in pencil. can do by tablet on request. usually contains 3-5 sketches in one piece.

*regular size prices. if you want something larger, we can negotiate.

Watercolors are done in 8.5x10 inches and smaller. Acrylics are done in 11x14 inches and smaller. See above for anything larger than max sizes.

A print will be sent to you via snail mail as well as a digital copied emailed. I don't normally sell originals, but if you really want it, just ask. I'm thinking on $10 extra for the original but that is always subject to change.

I will do most anything but outright hentai/porn (for now anyway). I do live with the 'rents at the moment and my sisters use my laptop since i somehow killed their PC. -___- I will do ecchi/pin-ups on request. Just throw me an idea and i'll let you know if it's doable!

I accept money orders, personal checks and cash (those the first two are preferred). Details to be worked out with each person.
