As many of you know, I used to be part of two fansub distros. This was long before digi-subs, back in the time of dinosaurs and VHS tapes, where you had to wait not two hours but two weeks to get the next volume of Rurouni Kenshin. Despite this, I managed to amass quite a collection, but now that a lot of it has come out on DVD, I'd like to get rid of those space-consuming tapes. I really just want to get rid of them, and I thought that since Otakon is coming up, this is the perfect time.

I'm posting a list of all of the fansub tapes I'm trying to get rid of in my livejournal. Rules go like this: leave me a comment about the tapes that you want, I'll send you a note and we can arrange a meeting place and time at the convention. I don't want any money or anything for these tapes, I just want them to find good happy homes.

If you want any of them, make sure we've got our meeting place worked out by Thursday night, as I will have /no/ computer access at the con.

School is almost over for me; I have one paper and one exam left. Maybe I'll have time to do more art over the summer?

Haha, right.

I will be posting cosplay pics from Otakon this year (actually, one of the reasons I'll be so busy is because I have THIRTEEN costumes to make). Anyone who's going to be there, keep your eyes peeled for Haku on Friday and Ogin (from Hyakumonogatari) on Saturday. Sunday I'll be dressed as Neji, so if the hotel room has a mirror I'll probably be busy trying to molest my reflection. Love that Hyuuga boy <3

Other joyous news: a Book-Off has opened in White Plains, which is right next to my school. This basically means that, though my manga collection will be enormous, I will never have money ever again.

On a better note, I watched "Crossing Jordan" (yay medical examiners!) for the first time the other day, and realized that Jill Hennessey is the star! I have worshipped Jill (as Claire Kincaid on Law & Order) for years, and she rocks as Jordan. Also, Jerry O'Connell is in it too, who I love because I love Sliders.
Normally, I don't like giving props to myself, but in this case I definitely deserve a pat on the back. Just before Christmas, I scrambled together a transfer application to Manhattanville College in Purchase, and I just heard back from them earlier this week. Not only did I get in, but they awarded me a scholarship too! I don't quite understand *why* they gave me money to come to their school...but hey. Gift horse, right?

So yes, I'm very happy about that, as it's an enormous weight off my chest. In fact, I was SO happy about it, I picked up my Playstation 2 for the first time in way too long and got myself hooked on those .hack games. They're not the best games I've ever played, but they are *incredibly* addictive. My favorite character so far is Elk, hands down. Kite is second. The best part about the game is that I get to sit with Megumi and make slashy comments about the awfully contrived relationship I am convinced Kite and Elk are having (despite the fact that there is no canon basis for such thoughts...but when has that ever stopped me! Ahahaha!).

I'm trying to do one good picture a week, but that hasn't really worked out most weeks. I'll try to update again this coming week, but I'm not promising anything.

I watched nine hours of NOIR yesterday, and I am now thoroughly convinced that Soldats is just a cult formed solely for the purposes of promoting lesbianism. Also, that between Kirika, Mireille, and Chloe, approximately all men between the ages of nineteen and sixty are now dead, thanks to Soldats and NOIR. Own conclusions, inevitably wrong, etc.

And I can't imagine a more humiliating way for a professional hitman to be killed than with a fork. If I were Chloe, I'd be pretty pissed off. Of course, if I were Chloe, I'd be pretty dead too.

After I watched nine hours of NOIR yesterday, Megumi came over and we watched four hours of Kyuuketsuki Miyu and then three hours of Kousetsu Hyakumonogatari. At this point we decided that Larva has a fetish for chopping off heads and that Mataichi is the coolest geezer in the world. And somewhere along the line we started calling Momosuke "Fluffy." I think that was around 3:00 in the morning. The frightening thing is, for Momosuke, it's a rather fitting name.

Megumi and I are planning another couple of marathons, including a two-day X one (one day to watch it, another day to clean the brain spatter off the walls after our heads explode, which is the inevitable result of watching X). It's going to be a great vacation.

...okay, so maybe I CAN imagine a more humiliating way to die than on the prongs of a fork. I'm going to go bang my head on the wall now until I get that image out of my head.

In the upcoming two months, I may be transferring to a new school and moving out of my house (probably; it depends on the housing available).
There's something wrong with my brain > _O

It's Thanksgiving today, and a bunch of my family is visiting. I don't really like big family get-togethers...they unnerve me x.x So here I am, hiding away in my room pretending to work on the two thesis papers that are due next week. And feeling sick; did I mention I'm sick? Which is not a fun thing to be on Thanksgiving, what with all the food going around everywhere...my stomach is turning just thinking about it.

In other news! I've started going to the anime club meetings at SUNY Purchase where I'm at college! I was very nervous at first (because of Megu-chan's experiences with her anime club in Maine), but pretty much everyone I met there turned out to be awesome. Katie and Kay, who run the club, are yaoi/boys' love/shounen ai/hot wild mansex fans, so we've been watching some good stuff! Last Friday was a Yami no Matsuei marathon where we watched all thirteen eps of the TV series. Manga's still better, but how can you argue?

Since finals are coming up, and I have craploads of papers and readings due, I probably won't update again until mid-December. Things are piling up already and I'm procrastinating again x.x

Oh, and the title of this journal entry is something my mother said when we were talking about boys' love in Shaman King, and she suggested a very frightening pairing that I maintain is not anatomically possible. For more information, don't.

I have decided that pending a miracle candidate from the Democrats, in the next election I am going to vote for Tao Ren for president.

I think that there are many obvious reasons that Ren should be president. He speaks both Chinese (we can assume, him being from China and all...) and Japanese, though his English is probably not perfect (Team the Ren sounds like a bad porno), but then again, George W. Bush has demonstrated to us that you don't actually have to SPEAK English to become president of the United States.

Our economy could also benefit from Ren being president. While Ren can be rather aggressive, I don't think he'd put too much into the military budget (though he'd create a whole new program entitled "Kick Asakura Yoh's Sorry Slacker Ass&quot, so all of that money would be funneled into things that actually help the country run. He would want to put a lot of money into schools, I think, especially school lunch programs; with Ren as president, no child would ever be without milk at each meal.

Ren's foreign policy would consist of vague threats that other nations would find rather silly (considering Ren's track record of getting his ass kicked), but since Ren is Ren, the foreign countries would adore him and relations with the USA would be better than ever before. People would tune in all over the world to hear Ren's State of the Union Address, because who DOESN'T like to hear Paku Romi speak for long periods of time? He would also start screaming at his writers about ten minutes into the speech, possibly attacking them on-camera with his hair. We would all smile and laugh with joy, because if there is anything Ren has taught us, it is that hair-related violence is funny.

Of course, he would need a vice president, and since he is unquestionably sleeping with Horohoro (and we don't want another scandal involving stains on dresses now, do we?), his running mate would have to be Yoh. I think this would boost his popularity, because Yoh appeals to people like me who hate doing anything other than sleeping. Not that Ren doesn't appeal to me, but Yoh's "politics" (and I use the term SO loosely) are very similar to my own. Their supporters would have signs and bumper stickers that say "Tao/Asakura '04: Because Mikihisa is a Dork" and "Tao Ren in 2004: I'll Kill You," and their campaign slogan would be "Get to the Point!"

Besides, it's about time the United States was able to say that their president is one of the finest pieces of ass in the known universe.

My mother's pocketbook was stolen today, from the school where she has worked for the last five years. She put it on a table outside the bathroom for two minutes, and when she came back out it was gone. Not only did it have her wallet in it, but it also held her palm pilot, her address book, and a whole bunch of other stuff that she needs to get through her day.

I am not a fan of my mother's school; it's one of those snobby private schools where it's *expected* that a kid's first car is a BMW. It's also overrun with drugs, but that's beside the point. Many of my friends know how much I hate the kids at this school, and while a part of me feels really bad, another part of me feels like saying, "I told you so" to my mother. When you have a school composed of kids with no morals and no respect for other peoples' things, this is what happens.

I have really strong feelings about stealing, probably because I work really hard to earn money. I have had a job for almost three years now, that I work hard at and I bring home my paycheck which pays for the things that I need, like FOOD and GAS for my car. When people take money out of MY pocket, God help them when I catch them; I hear that in parts of the world, the penalty for stealing is to have the thief's hands cut off, and this sounds pretty good to me.

In the meantime, my mother now has to call the bank and the credit card company, among other things. She has a lot of work to do and shouldn't have to be under this stress. I'd like to personally say that if the scum who took my mother's purse is reading this, that when I find out who you are I will PERSONALLY kick your sorry ass into next week.

Okay, I'm done ranting. Promise to have more work up this week, now that papers are done. I'll probably update the journal again tomorrow when I'm not feeling as violent x.x

Now that midterms are over, I can finally let my hair down. For another...three minutes, and then I have to get cracking on another paper x.x

I can't believe I honestly thought that I'd have MORE free time when I went back to school. At the time, though, I didn't see school as a full-time thing. I conveniently forgot that ugly, enormous monster that no matter how hard you hit it, you cannot escape it. No, I'm not talking about Bunchu; I mean HOMEWORK. I've had tons of papers, and even MORE reading (I had 400+ pages to read in ONE NIGHT last week).

But I'm not complaining. No sir. Not when Shaman King tan. 26 has just come out.

I am very excited about this (in fact, it is the highlight of my life up, at least since tan. 25 came out...). This volume is another Team the Ren fight, and I've been told (haven't gotten it yet...>.&lt that it's very Horo-centric. Regardless of what happens in it (it could be just Mikihisa being a dork the whole volume), I'm psyched.

One art this week, for National Boss Day (I swear I'm not making that up; it's an actual declared day), of K from Gravitation. I'm working on a couple others, too, including one of Chihaya (who is my bitch) from Earthian, my devART ID, and one of an original character. I really need to finish at least one of those and get it uploaded, if only to prove to everyone that I draw people who DON'T have blond hair.

Megumi asked me the other day why I haven't put up more artwork here. She made a good point that I certainly draw plenty, and that it's really not that difficult to scan stuff in and post it here.

And then I made another good point, which is that I'm lazy.

I'm also a raging perfectionist, which means that I am really bothered by those little ugly blue lines that cross so much of my artwork (because I seem to draw best when I'm supposed to be taking notes). And then, even if I draw something I *like* I don't always want to color it. And then when I try to color it, I start to hate it. And then when I keep complaining about this, I am promptly stoned by my watchers.

Or fed to The Tree ::snicker::

So enough complaining; let's talk about something interesting. Like Disgaea, which I am having way too much fun playing. In the past, I have enjoyed a lot of video games (my favorites being the Suikoden games, though I will always have a huge soft spot for the original Wild ARMs), but there has never before been a game so suited to me. In Disgaea, you are the Bad Guy. I love this, because it is my aspiration in life to become and Evil Genius. And La-chan, while not quite a genius, definitely lives up to the "evil" part.

Gameplay is great, too. While I love the Suikoden games, my favorite battle system BY FAR has been Final Fantasy Tactics, and Disgaea mimics that same system and adds new stuff at the same time (you can pick up your enemies OR teammates and hurl them across the battlefield, or at each other). I love being able to switch the dialogue to Japanese, too (I HATE the English dub of this, I just can't stand it). And, of course, threatening members of the Dark Council if they don't see things your way.

I'm not too far into the game just yet (I've played about two hours), but I am absolutely adoring it. Maybe I'll post a Disgaea fanart next time, which will most likely be soon, but I'm too lazy to make any kind of promise.

After a month of not posting ANYTHING, I return somewhat triumphantly with a series of Shaman King fanarts I made for a calendar. I hadn't intended to post them originally, but Megumi [shiretoko] told me I should. So here I am, and here they are.

So here's how things have panned out in the past month. My tablet came, but that week was the first week of the Evil All-Consuming Satan Computer Virus From (where else) Hell, so my computer was off for about two weeks straight. This cut me off from my email, my instant messager, Deviant Art, and (most importantly) a large portion of my yaoi. It's surprising that I survived.

While the computer was off, I promised myself I would clean my room and get ready for school. But see...I'm incredibly lazy...so I ended up picking up Shaman King tan. 01 and starting my love affair with those yummy Asakura boys all over again.

And I REALLY love those Asakura boys. As you can see in my profile-y thingie, Asakura Hao is my favorite character EVER. In fact, next round of conventions, I'm going as Hao-sama ^_^ Just have to figure out how to walk in those Lego shoes...

Coming up! I'm currently enrolled at college, at SUNY at Purchase. Had my first day of classes today, which was great except that my Modern East Asian History class is about fifty people. I don't like big classes. At all. But I really want to take this one, so I'm going to suck it up and deal.

Tune in next week for another exciting episode of "Emma Updates Her Journal." It's harder and faster than you can poke a big stick at!

Originally, this journal entry was to be titled "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Akito" because it addressed two things that I like, one being the book I just finished reading, and two being Sohma Akito (I forsee possible conflict over the latter one, and I have one thing to say to those of you who have a problem with my obsession with Akito: BRING IT). This was all well and good, until I saw the amazing independant film "The Boondock Saints" on Saturday night, thanks to my friend Matt, who adores (read: cannot live without) it. "Saints" is about a rather delectable pair of Irish twins who decide to play God and go around shooting the crap out of people who commit serious sins (mostly they shoot up the Russian and Italian mafias).

It also stars William Defoe as a gay detective, who, at one point in the movie, dons thigh-high stockings and a black garter belt. Now that I have seen that, my life is complete.

If you haven't seen "The Boondock Saints," I reccommend that you do, especially since there is a sequel due out in the next year or so. And we all know that making a sequel actually *detracts* from the l33tn3ss of the first movie (PREQUELS are even worse...I will never forgive George Lucas for "The Phantom Menace"). So see "The Boondock Saints."

Oh, and watch out for the bit with the cat. Little children and people with morals probably won't like that part.

New art should be up this week, after Ben comes over and hooks up my scanner on Tuesday. Even more after my tablet finally arrives here, which should be sometime this week (watch this turn into a repeat of "Emma Waits Six Months For Her Saiyuuki Backgammon I Artbook Only To Find Out It's Out Of Print." I really *really* hate Anime Nation sometimes...).

Tune in next week, most likely for a rant about Kyuuketsuki Miyu and why Reiha is the coolest thing sinced peanut butter in a squeeze tube.

Wow, Sunday. The day before I have to work eight hours straight with Will the Pet Store Nazi. I don't sleep well on Sunday nights...x.x

Other than the Sense of Impending Doom, today was pretty good. I gave my first message in Meeting for Worship this morning, and despite the fact that I lost my nerve and sat down rather abruptly, what I said was poignent and not stupid sounding (the latter is more important to me). Then went to Friendly's with Mum and had shrimp and chicken quesadillas (seperate; together would be kinda gross).

After lunch, I played "Emma Has a Sledge Hammer and Little Sister Beth Doesn't" (she hates this game but I love it so ). I transferred a bunch of files from my old computer to this wonderful new one, which I shall refer to as "Opacho" from this point forward. Yes, I named my computer Opacho; ph33r m3. Hopefully I will have my scanner and printer hooked up to Opacho by the end of the week, and when I get my paycheck on Saturday I can finally order El Tablet of Never-Ending Joy.

Then my whole family minus Molly (we have actually stopped including her because she's never home; she goes off for weeks at a time. My parents have actually forgotten that they have a third daughter; they've stopped claiming her on our tax returns) went to Bully's for dinner. Dad and I had a placemat war, and while he was making fun of my picture of Shigure (HOW DARE HE MOCK MY SHIGURE ::breaths fire:: ROAR!), I wrote "Papa likes little boys" on his placemat. He stopped trying to draw on Shigure then. Good thing, too, because they gave me a steak knife, and I get rather defensive about my jyuunishi puppy.

Since I must be up early tomorrow to clean the bathtub (DAMN YOU, SLIP-N-SLIDE!), I will be scampering off to bed. I will leave you with a quote from Megu-chan when we were in Trumbull last week:

Seishirou: Like Martha Stewart, only vaguely less evil.

Haha, I'm sure that all the scary yaoi fans (like myself) are giggling about the subject line there. I know I am.

Let's see now. First submission to deviantART! Joy! As I said in the file description, I have a new computer, which is a good thing. The bad thing is that the new computer is currently scanner-less, as my scanner is still hooked up to my pretty decrepid old computer. So anything I can submit (for the next week or two) is stuff that I've transferred from the old computer to this one.

How's THAT for an excuse! Booyah.

So this week, yes. Worked a lot already, which is good, because as the subject suggests, I am a tad strapped for cash right now. Siblings are bothering me, and my room is a mess. But I fear not, for the sun will rise again, as surely as Matsushita Yohko will write another volume of Yami no Matsuei!

...which, when it comes out, I will not be able to buy due to lack of funds.
