I found a notebook of writing with material written from 2006. I was thirteen years old! There was also some stuff from 2007 and 2008, and I thought I'd share with you some of the worst moments of my childhood.

You guys can vote over which one you think is the worst, because some of these are so bad I can't even tell. xD

1. “I dumped her,” he said. “When we have sex, she shouts in Italian, and it really makes me paranoid.” (2006) I was thirteen. I think there's something wrong with me.

2. “He took my wallet and ran off!” Pam shouted. “So I yelled, Patrick! Stop that right now! And he turned around and said, “How did you know my name was Patrick?” and I said I didn’t, it was a lucky guess, and then he ran off some more. (2007) I was going to leave this one out, but I told it to and she cracked up.

3. He was the kind of guy that planned out what kind of cereal he was going to have a week from now, and would get quite irritated if he wasn’t able to /have/ his Honey Bunches of Oats when he wanted it. (“Damn it Mother, did you bother to /look/ at my schedule before you finished the last of the box yesterday? Now I’m going to have to wear the striped socks!&#148 (2007)

4. “I say we blow up the whole country,” Ji Xong said, but nobody paid him much attention because he said that last week too. “Just blow the whole thing plumb-up. Who’s with me?” (No idea, but it’s old.)

5. Those who hold their tongues get nothing but wet hands. (2006!)

6. Here I am, trying to protect all of you from impending beetle attacks, and all I get is a 'shut up, kid', or funny fish eyed stares. Like that. Yeah, buddy, that's right; I saw that. And that too! I swear, the next time any of you gets cut up, I'm just going to stand there and laugh as you bleed on the floor. Ha. Hahaha. (2006)

VOTEVOTEVOTE!

EDIT:

As many of you know, I have a severe case of Interstitial Cystitis of the kidneys and PKD, or Polycystic Kidney Disease. On an average day, I am a 4-5 in pain out of 10, and I take daily pain medication to help manage this.

Unfortunately, if I am ever so unlucky to contract a UTI or a kidney infection, it overwhelms my already shaky bean-organs and shuts them down almost entirely. Think this sounds funny? Try peeing black septic sludge and sweating lemons.

For the past three days, I've been at a constant pain level of over twelve. I can't keep any food down, I have nightmares when I sleep, and the sight of water makes me start to cry. I've already had IV antibiotics and almost had to stay the night at the hospital, and I've missed days of work and school.

I'm sorry if I've been distant or loopy or depressed or snappy, but right now I'm in more pain than I've ever been in my entire life and it's not going away.

Please wish me luck. I've been crying and crying and I'll regret this later, but I really want to just complain a bit more about how much my life sucks.

<3 Mary-Kate

.....

I am so dead.

My pain level has reached ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen. Even moving is painful. Already upped my pain meds and they did nothing but made me sleep for over thirteen hours in a row.

AND NOW I HAVE A FEVER. D8< I don't know if it's related to my kidney pain, but if it is, I'm so screwed because we can't go to the doctor.

Ughhhhh. Start writing my eulogy.

ADDENDUM: FEVER IS GONE, STILL FEEL LIKE CRAP. WOULD KILL TO WATCH SOME EPISODES OF MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT.
Every day in my class, a friend and I draw various little doodles and write various little stories, usually on the sides of our work paper. I told her I'd write her a story and she said she wanted one called Pig*Land and to do whatever I want with it.

So the next day I doodled some designs for the story and wrote a few funny paragraphs, and before I know it, my class went insane.

Suddenly, everyone's talking about the girl writing a story or a comic called Pig*Land, and everyone wants to know what it's about and everyone starts digging through my notebook.

Note: I'd fight a monkey before I'd allow someone I don't know to read my notebook.

So despite that minor drawback, I now entertain my class each day with a story about a little girl wizard who hands out "Peace Marbles" to pigs and turns them back into real people.

Why? I don't know.

I'm officially the Pig*Land girl.
This is not a title I desire.
It is kind of cool though.

The point of all this is that the story is adorable, funny, and cute, and I can't even post it here. It really has no literary merit whatsoever, and people probably wouldn't think it's funny unless you're there when they make me perform it with funny voices and stuff.

If you're wondering why I'm not posting, it's because I'm off writing a children's story THAT WILL NEVER EXIST.

/fumes

...Then shuffle the deck. ;D

School is absolutely amazing. I have the best AP Lit class ever, with all of my new friends and an amazing teacher. We just finished The Handmaid's Tale (one of my favorites) and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (not my favorite, but our activities for it were fun.)

Gym is actually a class I really enjoy. I shouldn't think it's so much fun to run. Math is simple as crap, easy as that. And Latin...

I LOVE LATIN. I am currently one of the worst Latin nerds ever. Latin III is looking like it's going to be a complete cinch. It's always the odd years of languages that rock.

Yeah, I miss ASL, but I have Brant in my lunch and my ASL teacher is willing to work with me to help me prepare for my interview with Gallaudet. (If I apply. Which I might. Which I will. Might.)

I've been flirting with both a guy named Johnny and ******, and someone definitely called me out on it. (On the plus side, both of them were just like, "Keep doing it, I'm game.") SO.

All in all, very productive-looking year.
But I wish I was still at my old school.
But this year rocks.

It's looking to be a very good year for comedy writing, so check around and I'll start getting back into the habit of dA instead of just pressing the 'Delete - All' button. (We're all guilty of it.)

CHALLENGE
Bet you've missed these. ;D
In English, there are a small number of words that have meanings that are complete opposites. I've recently seen many complaints over recent DD's, and at least we know the issue isn't new.

FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?

STEP ONE. Don't you dare complain to the recipient. Nobody asks for a Daily Deviation. It's a showcase based on a suggestion. If you comment with, "This sucks," or "Why was this a DD?" expect to get your head flamed off.

STEP TWO. Browse galleries. Not just of your friends, not just of famous people. Try to find a piece that doesn't already have three thousand favorites and comments. When you find the piece, celebrate.

STEP THREE. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Note a suggestion to the CORRECT person. Only certain people on dA have the ability to create Daily Deviations, and they're often broken down into categories.

FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen?

STEP FOUR. Wait. The staff might not get back to you immediately, or ever. Remember that they're bombarded with suggestions each day. If yours isn't chosen, move on. Don't suggest the same thing again unless you're sure they never received your note.

SEEMS LIKE COMMON SENSE, HUH? Well the majority of the confusion and aggravation BEHIND DD's is that people don't have any. So go out there and suggest some! It'll make you feel good. ;D

(Each day I'll be posting here the things I suggest, so look back from time to time!)

So wonder where I’ve been? This pretty much sums it up.
EVERY spare moment of EVERY hour of EVERY day I’ve been writing letters, making phone calls and being an all-around bitch to get back something that was taken from me and my friends.

As many of you know, my new high school is a feeder school for twenty-five Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Twenty-five students pulled out of their district to come to our school, virtually isolated from the majority of hearing students. While we currently have interpreters, the facts remain the same.

There was a language barrier.

When an ASL foreign language class was opened not for just the Deaf/HoH but for the hearing students as well, a series of classes made EXTRAORDINARY growth in learning and appreciating American Sign Language and Deaf Culture, and bridged the gap between those twenty-five students and the rest of the school.

There was a language barrier.
There was a language barrier and we broke it.

As of one week ago, our class has received news that our ASL program has been discontinued indefinitely. While two semesters are required by law, any class higher than that has lost its accreditation and will not be offered. When we asked, we were told that because of ASL’s simplicity, two SEMESTERS of American Sign Language is an ample amount of time to become fluent, unlike the six to seven YEARS offered to French and Spanish.

So what does this all mean?

We’ve been hit with discrimination. The fact is that not enough people know that American Sign Language is a REAL language with its own grammar and dialects. It’s not universal. And it’s currently used by hundreds of thousands of people. You’re not just going to ‘ pick up ’ sign language from occasional television any more than you will ‘ pick up ’ Mandarin Chinese from fortune cookies. The gap that we were bridging has once again been swung open.

We are doing EVERYTHING that we can to raise money. We’ve written about every famous rich person we can think of, including Obama and Oprah. xD We’ve contacted Lifetime to see if this is even a possible movie.

If you would like to help, raise awareness, donate, offer to be a business sponsor, please contact me IMMEDIATELY. We are especially looking for any business willing to raise awareness about this cause.

Don’t think you can do anything? Think again. We’ve got a Facebook group. ;D

The truth of the matter is that we're pressed for time. The county isn't giving us the information needed to make this work, because they don't want to spend the money on it. Just consider what you can do to help, and every little bit will do.

Thank you.

Mary-Katherine

I like the critique. If I post a deviation for an ego boost, I make sure to tell people. xD

This might seem stupid to a lot of people, thinking that I'm complaining because people comment and favorite my stuff, but IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T FAVORITE IT.

Don't feel obligated. D8< I've grown to love my sub, as well as being a beta tester. Oh well.))

EDITEDIT:

Someone amazing donated me a three month subscription. (And like a moron, it took me a whole day to notice.) This is amazing, thank you so much!

As of 2/1/2009, I will be doing everything in my power to write and complete a novel of my own.

Candlesticks, first drafted in July of 2007, found success in the small excerpts that I had posted on deviantART. In September of that same year, I entered and successfully completed my NaNoWriMo goal of 50,000 words with Candlesticks as my subject. The plot spun out of control, ended with little to no closure, and left the entire project seeming like a childish attempt at literature.

Fortunately, Candlesticks will now be edited and rewritten so that it will resemble only a ghostly reminder of its failure two years ago. Rosco's Circus will be put on an indefinite hold until I get the basics of my new goal down on a Word Document. And my deviantART gallery will soon be riddled with nonsensical excerpts. ;D

If all goes well, Candlesticks will be a completed literature project aimed for young adult readers somewhere by August of this year.

If you took the time to read any of that, I congratulate you. Obviously this is more exciting for me than any of you.

CHALLENGE:

If any of my watchers starts either a literature or artistic project of their own, they will be listed here from now until August. ;] Got a story idea? Plot it out! I'm dying to see it.

So today I go to school as normal, in a rather good mood.

Sit next to World's Self-Proclaimed Number One Weeaboo. (Did you know ohayo means good morning? Ohayo means good morning. Desu. Ohayo! You think I can call the teacher Sensei? Ohayo! It sounds like Ohio, 'cept it's not lololol.)

Got up to go to second period and doubled over in pain.
It was excruciating. For those of you who don't know, I live with a kidney condition, and have pain daily. I take a pretty high dose of pain medication, and I have a pretty good pain tolerance.

I thought I was going to die. xD

So I manage to make it to class and ask my new teacher if I could go to the nurse. First year teacher, second day she's ever seen me before, and she says "Go sit down."

I couldn't sit down. I had to lean against the wall.

Finally the girl who sits next to me was like, "God, just leave. You look like you're in labor." I hightailed it outta there.

My mother, also a first year teacher, is at work. You know how damn hard it is for her to leave? I felt guilty as hell calling her up, saying, "Something's wrong, I need to go to the doctor."

An hour later I was in the hospital with an immediate antibiotic IV and under pain meds.

Went home, got an email that I was WRITTEN UP for skipping class. First thing tomorrow, they expect me to go to the administration's office for a detention slip. (Obviously I can't go to school, but still.) NOT ONLY did the nurse email my teacher's telling them I was sick, but then my mom phoned the teacher whose class I left.

Bitch.

Comedy Contest
DATE EXTENDED
"The rules would be just that simple.
