Now I'm totally hooked. I just want to take everything out of my sketchbooks and embroider them onto any suitable surface. ^o^

I'm also playing MANY SILLY GAMES!

#1 Howrse - A horse breeding and competition game. At first I was a little put off by the fact there was really now 'action' but now I'm really addicted. This game is also great in that it only takes a few minutes to play each day. I'm "merrycalliope" there--if you join please friend me! ^_^

#2 Wajas - Another breeding game but this time the breedables are fantasy canids. I only just started this game last night and haven't even got my first Waja but I'm enjoying just poking around the site right now. ^o^ I'm "Merry" on Wajas.com

#3 Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine (aka Megaten) - A free-to-play SMT game. I haven't really played any of the previous games but I sure like the online version. I don't play regularly but I love hanging around and seeing what demons people show up with. If this game didn't have fighting but just fusions, like a demon breeding game, I'd be all over it. Hm...I sense a theme here...

I've been really quiet here, sorry folks! I've been working on a lot of stuff but nothing I can really show off right now.

I did upload a sketch to my Scraps. I don't know how many people bother to watch Scraps (personally, I always do). If it seems like people are interested I might do a sketchdump to my Scraps.

Also, I've been uploading random photos and various nonsense to my Flickr account.

Okay, I'm gonna try again with the blog-thing! I keep trying to start one and then I never update it because I'm too self-conscious about my work and/or I feel I've got nothing to say. But this time I hope to persevere!

"Merry Calliope" is a name I use all over. "Merry" originally came from an old personal character named Merope. Now I use variations on Merry or Merri in different places like World of Warcraft. The 'Calliope' surname came from Second Life years ago and I like it so much it's sort of stuck. Since I dislike using my real name online having a neat alternate name works very well for me.

Waaah....! I've been so creatively DEAD for the past couple months! All I've done is draft up some patterns, finish a couple of ABJD faceup commissions and completely fail at sketching anything I like.

My husband says my art is fine but...isn't that what he's supposed to say? I mean, that's almost on par with one's mom saying she admires her child's artwork. He says he'd be critical of it but since he's never pointed out a single thing wrong even when there are blatant mistakes...well...it makes me dubious.

In addition to my sewing I'd really like to start producing more artwork to post up like on eBay. I'm notoriously slow on commissions so I'm not sure I'm up to taking them (thanks to everyone who has inquired though!)

Next month I'm probably going to try Nanowrimo. I actually have something of a plot...it's very silly but it's something. For some reason the more I think about my story the more I want to draw. Hopefully, even if I don't finish Nanowrimo, I'll have at least jump-started my artstuff.

And i seriously need a jump-start. *___*

Okay, so I got Pokemon Pearl awhile ago and haven't done much with it but now I got the wifi thing working and wanted to get my Friend Code to give out.

Now how the heck do I access it?

I have this PalPad thing but if I choose the option that should show me my Friend Code it says I need to log on to the Nintendo WFC. If I go to one of those union room things, the only place I've found so far which says I'm logged in, I can't open the PalPad.

Am I going to the wrong place? How do I log in without being in one of those rooms? I'm so confused! The manual really does nothing to clarify anything at all.

First of all, apologies again to the folks who have been waiting for my commissions to open up again. After wrapping up the last batch I decided that I'm just not cut out for the commission thing. My attention span is simply far too short. You may have noticed this from the way I bounce around from medium to medium. ^_^;;;

I'm also slowly jumpstarting my craft blog. Personal life stuff... I AM FAT. OMG, am I ever fat. I have been working out 3+ times a week, doing cardio and the occasional fat-burning program (when I can handle it *weak*) on the treadmill or elliptical machine. We placed an order for the newest DDR for the Xbox but for some reason Amazon is taking FOREVER to ship it. Grr. I think that'd be much more fun than the treadmill. Does anyone have this DDR? I can't remember the name...Revolution?

Unfortunately, the other half of the above-mentioned 'we' has been working 12+ hour days during the week PLUS going in on weekends for various lengths of time. No silly DDR duels with him until September, I think. On the plus side, the project he's working on is in beta and receiving EXTREMELY good feedback which is very exciting.

Inspire me!

I've received so much feedback regarding the dolls I've posted here that I've decided to open up a few commission slots.

Right now commissions are limited to sock dolls ONLY for a couple of reasons:

Firstly, they are less expensive for me to make thus allowing me to price them reasonably.

Secondly, while I know a lot of people are interested in the prototype softie design I'm still perfecting that pattern and don't feel comfortable selling dolls made from it until I'm fully satisfied with the results. Also, due to the time and materials involved they will be more expensive than the sock dolls.

Sock Doll Description:
My sock dolls are created from brand new cotton socks, high quality polyfill and acrylic yarn hair (other hair options may be possible). The eyes may be embroidered, buttons or safety eyes--whatever best achieves the desired look.

The 'base doll' includes a simple chemise, bloomers, socks and felt shoes (girls) or t-shirt, boxers, socks and felt shoes (boys). Additional clothing is priced based on materials and complexity.

I'm aware I have yet to supply photos of clothing. Rest assured I am an experienced seamstress...specifically experienced in pattern drafting and creating clothing for dolls. Gothic & Lolita styles are a specialty. <3 EGL

My latest thing lately is making what I jokingly call sokkusu no ningyou. I like that 'title' better since just saying 'sock dolls' makes one think of projects one did at Girl Scout camp or craft day in kindergarten. Sock dolls are, by their nature I think, fairly simple but I'm trying to take them beyond the rather crudely constructed dolls I remember from my past.

Unfortunately my sewing machine is acting up. It's an old Bernina 830, still a great machine but it gets out of whack every six months or so. This time it's the thread tension and nothing I know how to do seems to fix it. So I've got to take my machine in for a tune-up and be machine-less for a few days. AUGH. ;_;

Which leaves me with cute, but nekkid, sock dolls. Wah!

I feel a little bad now since I just posted a prototype and while it's technically a finished work I don't think it's my best!

So now I am working on better plush...though of course I can't let things be and I'm already trying different fabrics and changing the pattern design.
