Can you guess how the week's theme– THINGS I WISH PEOPLE HAD REQUESTED– comes into play here? It's as simple as this: "crazy, weird things". Whether it's just two kids on an adventure at a castle or something in the mountains or a shot of a lady slumping and guys freaking out about her attributes, it doesn't matter– I love drawing random, free-form pieces that have no link back to anything other than "I doodled it."

I don't know if you read the recent VALKYRIE one-shot from Marvel, but it was really good! It's always surprising when a character I have never even been interested in at ALL becomes one I'd love to see more of. Poor Gravity– he debuted shortly after Invincible first debuted, and Gravity creators Sean McKeever and Mike Norton have had to listen to people compare the two series a lot since then. His series was short-lived, he was killed, made a protector of the universe or something, put into a new teen team the YOUNG ALLIES (which was cancelled after six issues as well), and now he's appearing in an upcoming giant crossover soon enough. Sent Skyward 1 to the letterer yesterday. Pretty cool stuff. :) Really, it's nice to be able to pass it along at this point.

For those not in the know, I was in talks for half a year or so with a big-name publisher outside of comics to put it out, and that would have been really cool. Unfortunately, the deal on the table was a complete wash for me and I couldn't in good faith agree to the terms, so I moved on.

In other news, I'm thinking of doing a "SKETCH-A-DAY" thing on my blog (and possibly posting 'em here on dA as well).

Anyone interested in seeing that sort of thing? You know, various warm-up sketches, mind hurling on pages with blueline pencil? Various characters, some funny stuff, some design work, that kind of thing.

Thought it might be interesting. I've already scanned well over a month's worth of sketches hanging around the studio for who knows how long, so it's not like I'd skip a day for at least that amount of time.
