ahh I love the holidays so much; they just always put me in a cheerful and creative mood. so my parents got home from san fransisco yesterday and brought home a bunch of food, pictures, and stories ^^ they also got me a little beaded bracelet from the zen center which I really love ^3^

I've been watercoloring a bit; it's totally my favorite medium, it just feels so natural. HOWEVER, my lame scanner is broken again, or rather has been broken for a long time and I just haven't messed with it recently. SO I have been doing a little art lately, and I'm going to be doing a lot more for christmas presents. PLUS I dunno if you guys remember that huge painting I was working on for the entire second semester last school year but anyways my mom said she would frame it for me if I finished it. so I'd like to do that. and paint more on my walls and....GAHH

oh my HAM I watched Porco Rosso the other day and it was GENIUS. go watch it. now.

sooo....sorry haven't uploaded anything for a while. I have been drawing though! did about three new drawings and a watercolor! I'm also working on a watercolor right now and I'm so happy because I found a new technique for it which looks very lovely...I'd upload stuff but my scanner doesn't work. D: so maybe you'll get something on a weekend when I go to a scanner working friend's house.

so we had today off for christopher columbus day. (which was really nice but I've been wondering does anyone do anything on Columbus day?) so this weekend I had a friend over for most of the time and we went shopping, to her Youth group, and then today went to Jerusalem cafe.

okay this place deserves it's own paragraph. I mean JEEZ this is the greatest restaurant to ever grace the earth. or at least the greatest I've ever been. Although Milano's comes in pretty close because Mediterranean and Italian are so different. anyways it's this little Mediterranean cafe that is...like...SDNGORENAOI I'm so mad I can't find a great enough adjective! so I had something called Gyros which is this style in which they cook the meat (the classic one is beef and lamb which is what I got but you can get chicken or turkey) and then the meat goes over this fluffy delicious pita type bread thing with sauteed onions and squash. the whole thing has this delicious seasoning over it and it comes with fried potatoes and salad, with good seasoning and dressing respectively. My friend got turkey Gyros and my mom got these delicious things called Dolmas which I don't feel like describing and you can wiki if you're really that interested xD (which I doubt lol) my dad got what I got but over hummus instead of a pita.

so then after all of that we chilled at home, did some homework, painted, then make angel food cupcakes and 8 yolk cupcakes. After she left I wrote my nine week exam essay. (which i should have allowed like the entire weekend to do xD) and here we are now.

so...this is like the most eventful weekend I've had in a long time. let's hear about your weekends, lovelies!

My high school is known for being incredibly hard but very redeeming when college seems easy afterward. And funnily enough, I get a really nice feeling from finishing my 74 pounds of homework. I guess since my elementary and middle school were always so easy for me, I never have felt such a sense of accomplishment. So my weekend has been about 80% homework, 15% working on a design(which I'll get to in a little bit) and 5% cleaning my room/looking at art. however I'm done with my homework so I have my whole sunday in front of me ^_^ this week I saw two very good movies. one was Densha Otoko (Train Man) which was really sweet and hilarious too. The second was Les Choriste, a french movie about a (you guessed it!) chorus. They were complete opposites but I enjoyed both immensely!! I'd recommend them to anyone.

Oh, the design. So anyways I'm working on a couple of designs for a contest to design one of the covers of those five star mead note books. I can't decide which I like so I'm having my family and a couple friends vote on them. I'd post them up here, but you can't have published your entry somewhere else according to the contest rules. But anyways if I make it into the finals there will be online voting so I'll keep you guys posted ^_^

We also went to a sushi place and I forgot how good sushi was...Mmmmm....Also the wasabi was very good quality and I got shrimp Nigiri with my order. Afterwards I worked for the rest of the day but it wasn't too bad.

Today is Saturday so we usually don't do as much work. We just did a list of chores and had lunch and have been relaxing ever since. I've been playing Checkers a lot. I went from being horribly terribly bad to pretty good but now I'm losing again...;/ Okay so here's my to do list:

-finish watercolor
-do art trade w/ ~Malle-chan
-help mosh with her avatar
-finish lineart on two pieces (in PS)
-work on coloring that beach pic
-work on giant painting of nothing

So expect a lot of art. I'm going to try and get this all done by the end of July. I probably won't be able to finish the two acryllic paintings though because those take LOTS of time.

I'm trying to commit myself to drawing everyday after school for at least twenty minutes because I often get mad at myself for just messing around too much after school. also I'm going to try to do more cleaning on a daily basis because I feel guilty when I'm too lazy and don't help out. well last night I finished watching Amadeus and it was just as good as the first time I watched it! first movie I haven't fallen asleep on in a long time. I'm happy to be returning to school because of the painting I'm working on in art and also she's starting to make me do other things which I'm happy about; since the beginning of the semester I've just been working on that painting. don't get me wrong: I love the painting; I just felt like it was more of a fun relaxation piece and that I should be doing studies on other mediums or styles or something.

also in biology we're going to be going outside everyday this week! I much prefer that to doing stupid motion labs...they're so boring! I think everyone should start listening to classical music; it's the best for doing art or pretty much anything else! it's very relaxing but also stimulating...

Although it went by so fast, it was fun ^^ I spent most of it cleaning, watching anime(trigun and honey and clover), and drawing. I'm about halfway through coloring my garden picture; and I think it looks nice ^^ Also today we bought a dishwasher which is friggin sweet because washing dishes was my chore...hehe...Also this week I tiled our bathroom floor. The vinyl is black and white checkered so the bathroom looks cool ^^ we desperately needed something nice in the bathroom because it looks so old and dirty otherwise.

oh, I just noticed today that I only need a couple more pageviews for 5,000. so whoever catches it gets a drawing from me of whatever they want ^_~

well school starts tomorow...

xD I've decided that because I haven't posted much stuff in a while, my punishment should be a swift kick to the throat. And from now until at least march I'm going to try and post something every day. I mean art ^^ Today I finished designing my shoes which I'm very proud of and I think it'd be a good start since it's the first of the month ^^ I know usually with these things I give up almost immediately but I really want to do this! Practice makes an artist better so I've come up with this equation:

practice x everyday = win

I think it pretty much sums up what I'm trying to say here. I invite everyone to join me in this noble quest!

They're all still here but some of them are gone to the beach and whatnot D: my sister's boyfriend built us a new computer which is friggin sweet. it's infinitely better than our other one ^^ Also, one of my brothers gave me 3 copic markers and another gave me 4 and I already had 2 so now I have a grand total of 9!! xd plus 2 prismacolor markers. my brother's girlfriend gave me a big canvas so I wanna do some sweet painting but I don't know what now ...

One of my brothers made some sushi for his girlfriend's family party thing and I took lots of pictures so I'll put a couple up. We only get a bit, but from what I've tasted it's delicious

Still in the festive spirit because there are so many people still here plus I have new year's to look forward to, when we travel up to dallas to see my dad's family ^^ that's gonna be another 200 pictures XD

I've been drawing lots of comic pages; I finally started it and decided on one beginning. I've drawn three pages. HAHA, and my brother drew me a manga and it was HILARIOUS. basically he was just making fun of all of the anime and junk I watch but I didn't care because it was so sweet :3

Well on Thursday I messed up my elbow in a basketball game so I'm having to wear this bandage that is a big hassle...But I take it off a lot so that can't be good xD ah well...you win some you chin some. Yesterday I made 9 bobby pins in seasonal colors so my dad said he would try and sell them at the farmer's market. They took forever and look pretty nice so I'm going to sell them for $1.50 each. If all 9 sell I'll think about making some more stuff and putting it on etsy ^^

24 days until christmas!

I love this time of year just because everyone is festive and generous and happy and whatnot. Well, I can't speak for all of us but I'm always happy during the holidays :3 And shoot me if you will but I just love christmas carols. ^^ I have them in my head all year and I can sing them without some duffelbag saying "christmas isn't for 6 months!" And my mom always puts on a celine dion christmas CD that I just can't get sick of ^^ What with the economical crisis and everything my parents said we're not getting many presents but I'm so festive I just don't care. As long as I see my loved ones I'm still happy and excited :3

My thanksgiving was wonderful ^^ My brothers made me laugh so much and I got to eat delicious food and be happy and hang out with cats. We took a walk at UT and it was gorgeous! I'm totally going there ^_~ There were a couple of tame squirrels so me, being an idiot after her mom told her not to mess with them got her hand scratched when a squirrel tried to inspect it. It was so cute though, he just grabbed my finger! I'll try to upload some pictures because on the trip my dad bought a camera! I've been going nuts with pictures. Maybe I'll upload one with a small me in it...Although I'm not very fond of putting pictures of myself on the internet I'll think about it..

On a sad note my parents and I brought two kittens and my jerkwad brother kept the cuter one so that's TWO of my favorite cats he's taken...Well I'm not all that upset because I'd rather Pab have them then some random stranger.

School was fun today ^^

2. I only have to withstand one more week of school and two days the next week before THANKSGIVING BREAK. w0000t!!!

basketball, biology, and algebra are pretty much what's keeping me away from my lovely art community. I've been drawing a lot recently but as you all know...my scanner is ASS.

oh, I discovered my new favorite show! and don't wince too much, but it's not anime...

it's CRUSOE! I love love love it! It's the highlight to my week! call me sick because this guy is 30 or 40, but philip whatshisface is really hot...especially in his englandy clothes or without a shirt ^^ it's so actiony and...

The school week has been fun ^^ another hard week of biology and algebra. all my other classes are no problem ^^ I also had a cross country meet on saturday and it kinda sucked. for one, I was dying while I was running, and another, my friend nearly passed out so I had to go run to get first aid for her and that kinda slowed me down. but I would do that a hundred more times; it felt so good when she was panting so hard and still managed to say, 'you're such a good friend, audrey.' so I'm happy she's okay and it was another experience

except that whole day I was forced to eat fast food because later on I went to the mall with my friend and we had chinese. so I felt terrible last night and I never want another bite of any fast food ever again D: though my parents are forcing me to go to mexico with them and they're planning on going to a restaurant. D; I'll just see if I can get something light, like a salad

I'm happy, because I'm experiencing new things everyday. Aaand, my skin is once again pretty clear XDDDDD

I've decided that since I have no time during the week, I'll try and update every Sunday ^^

This week was pretty bad...xD Although all of the things that happened were bad, strangely enough I find myself happy....o_O maybe it's because I finally caught up on my sleep. ?

I'm doing fine in school though I must say, biology is pretty freakin hard. D: The volleyball game and cross country meet were canceled because of the hurricane that never came. Although I'm disappointed about the volleyball game, I was dreading the CC meet so they cancel each other out ^^

As for Art, I've been drawing a LOT. In my art class I'm doing a huge painting for Hispanic Heritage month and I'm going to enter it into a contest. It's gonna be awesome! Also during the week and weekend I've done 5 reference pictures-Kylinn, Tage, Mitsuki, Art and Tasu. I'd have done more, but I ran out of pages in my sketchbook D: I plan to buy 2 new ones as soon as my mom can take me to hobby lobby-one just for doing my omni pages, and one for everything else that I want to draw ^^ Also I'm dying to buy me some grapefruit face wash...

The animation and art is really gorgeous, it's almost like a guilty pleasure to watch it ^^ None of the character designs annoy me (which is a first) and it seems really well thought out. I've only watched two episodes, but I think I'll like it ^^ The plot seems really cool, just what I like :3 I'd definitely recommend it ^_~

I've been in amazing art moods lately and I think that might be what's dictating my happiness, though my cat does contribute to it ^^ I'm beginning to think that rather than a digital artist I'll mainly focus on watercolor; it's so much fun and I think the outcome is always more beautiful ^^ Lately I did a watercolor piece for ~kipplekap's birthday and then another piece just for fun with three characters of mine. ((an all time high!)) and one new one so when I get that scanned, he/she will be unveiled! Now I'm working on a trade with *teabean. As usual, I'm open for trades, and I'd love it if you asked for one so don't be shy ^^ I'm enjoying my artwork so much, so really I wish I had more to do so as not to waste my wonderful mood

changing the subject, I start school on monday and I'm super anxious. what kind of year will I have, I wonder? hopefully we'll go shopping on sunday and I have to admit that I love shopping ^^ Pretty clothes make me feel good and I hardly ever get to shop so I'm also happy about that. on a not so happy note I was feeling really sick last night and sick all day today so blehh...Although I'm not feeling nearly as bad right now and I think I'll feel fine tomorow ^^ My pie making skillz cured me!

I registered for school today and my dad argued with the security guard because she wouldn't let us in and he won ^^ w00t. I'm pretty happy with all my classes but one of my best friends isn't in my team and that is not good D': Also, I have the option of dropping athletics and taking art all year long instead of just one semester. That means I would have Art II the first semester and Art III the second which I would LOVE but I'm sort of obligated to take athletics...However, if I only do one semester of Art my teacher said I could just skip art 2 and go straight to art 3...I can't decide...If I did this it would be a lot better for me in the long run but I want to deal with the challenge of athletics so I can get used to the stress...WHAT DO I DO?!?!

Surprise surprise, I ruined the portrait of my brother and his girlfriend. For some reason I thought I should test out my watercolor skills on such a (surprisingly) important piece. I've decided I'll just try and do a really great black and white piece. Maybe test out my inking skills. Though with my luck I'll end up with [switchovertoexcitedgameshowhostvoice] not one, but two ruined pictures!! For the low price of four days of my precious, precious time!!

Besides that, everything is fine. Well, except that whenever I take a step outside I get eaten alive. Which isn't too convenient, seeing as I have to spend 7 hours out there everyday. I'm talking about mosquitoes. After all of that rain, it's ridiculous. If you bathe yourself in repellent it's okay for a while, but then if you walk to another area, it is GAY.

Hmm...I don't really like to limit myself with a certain style. I guess it makes me feel trapped. I just draw whatever I want to and make it look as good as I possibly can :3 But I guess some of the things I like to draw are manga, (that doesn't look like manga xd) cute things, animals, and...er, just random stuff, really.

What do people usually think when they see your art? Or see you walking down the street? Do they stand out?
^__^ My mom and my brother's girlfriend and maybe pab are the only ones that actually critique it, in my family. Everyone else just says if they like it or not ^^ At school, people love my art. (It makes me feel so goood <3) And...er...Well, as for walking down the street, if I did that, I'd probably get run over D: Nobody really stands out walking in the halls since we have to wear uniform at school D:

Influences?
I've gotta say, as weird as it sounds, the sky. I mean, I just look up and it puts me in such a trance that I say to myself, "Man, I'll be so happy when I can paint that" It keeps me going. It puts me in an artistic mood. Or a deeper mood. I like things to be deep. I like being able to peel of the layers and appreciate each one. Maybe that's hard to understand...But oh well <3 Music also influences me. But I'm very picky about my music. I don't really like any popular artists d:

Working Process
Hmm...Usually I have something that gets me pumped to draw. It's different every time. Usually it's music or anime or stuff I see on deviantart. But sometimes it's gorgeous scenery outside. Or a roleplay. Like, right now, my brothers are obsessed with this ninja game and it makes me want to draw ninjas! Which I am ^_~

Favorite Part of the Process?
COLORING. Oh god, I love coloring. But only my work. I mean, when I draw a picture, I have a picture in my mind of how it should look-the color, everything. I don't know if I could botch up someone else's picture. But man, I enjoy coloring my pictures so much. I think a beautiful coloring scheme can make the picture a masterpiece! Funny, I used to hate coloring. But man, I can't even tell you how much I love it now...-hughug-

Least Favorite Part of the Process
Erm...Gnum...I don't know if this counts, but I feel like slitting my throat (I'm exaggerating here xD) when I can't draw what I see in my mind. I dunno if you guys are like this, but sometimes when I blink I just see pictures in my mind, for a split second. It's really cool... But it's when I'm concentrating on what I'm doing, I guess. That puts me at ease. But, oh, when I can't draw it, man...

Mediums??
I love using tons of mediums!! I use pencil, pen, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic paint, oil paint, clay, oil pastels, chalk pastels, markers, the list goes on ^_^ I've even made some of my own clay before! I want to learn more and more mediums, It just makes the picture look so interesting ^_^

Self taught?
They offer art classes at school so naturally I take them ^_^ I'm about to take my third year of art. It seems like I don't learn much but when I look at my sketchbooks before and after that semester of art, I'm surprised

What bothers you about non-artistic people?
I guess...I mean, they can't understand how many layers art has. They can't understand how to look at things, I guess. (or most people, I guess. I don't want to stereotype anybody D

I mean, (and I'll use your tree example here) when they see a tree, it's just a tree. I think artists, without even knowing it, see the bark and the roots and the leaves. Maybe we can appreciate things to be beautiful that other people can't. For example, I think dirty things, like, REALLY, dirty things. Infested, covered in mold and fungus. Just normal dirty things, are beautiful ^_^ I mean, the colors are so muted and sad, it's so...gorgeous. Or rust. Or moss. I love those things

Another thing that bothers me is when people think that you can be good or bad at art. It takes so much practice to be good at art, it pisses me off when people say they just can't draw. YES YOU CAN!!! It takes a ton of practice. Sure, there are naturally artistic people. But not all of them are born like that. You can become that.

What bothers you about artists? Or just people in general?

oh, I'm thinking of doing a bit of a club type thing similar to this:

I'd like it to be wolf roleplaying, like that, but I'm not so sure many of my watchers are into that. OR ARE YE?

1. My company will be here at the time I usually write my journals
and
2. I want to occupy myself before finishing the kitchen

But I'm having fun finishing the kitchen because my dad put in a new set of cabinets and a sink and it's super fun to work in. Also, I get to listen to music, some of which is Sigur Ros's new album, which is win.

w000t! YEAH. My whole family's gonna be here today! Okay, not all of them. But most of my dad's side. Pab tried to fix the scanner and it didn't work. Apparently it doesn't respond to our computer but he's going to try to connect it with his computer and see what happens. My house is like an electronic shack. There are two laptops and two PCs just in the dining room.

But when the scanner does get eventually fixed or I scan it at Kay's house or something, I have two things to scan and lineart. Almost three, I'm working on a picture of Cari. So once I scan em' all, I'll probably be linearting and coloring like crazy. But that'll probably be after the guests leave because I don't want to neglect anyone ^_^

So don't expect much from me for about a week xD Just journals. Hopefully I can keep that up everyday.

^_^ I'm in a good mood. Just finished my Ichiban. I forgot how to use chopsticks D: But I do have a newfound liking for dried seaweed on my ramen

I thought I would have more time for art in the summer, not less! xDD but from monday through friday my brothers and I have to work. We get up in the morning for morning break, go outside and work until lunch, have a lunch break, then work until dark. But I like it somewhat because my brothers are fun to be with and I get payed. ^_^ Well at least now I have a reasonable excuse as to why I haven't uploaded any art.

I've been reading alot. I'm reading Life of Pi, which is awesome, and I'm hungry for more good fiction. It's like making a discovery. I want more...more...more...I like reading on higher levels, too. The books are just...better. I'm considering reading Shogun but if my mom caught me I'd be forbidden from it

GUESS WHAT?!?! He, it's not that crazy important. But my aunt brought me her camera to take pictures of my charms with so you shall finally see them! I think some of em' are pretty good if I do say so myself.

Oh and my mom is going somewhere for like, a week and my brothers and dad and I are going to try and redo the kitchen cabinets! fun fun ^_^ that reminds me, I should've had my room painted thirteen years ago! my aunt and dad told me they got one wall ready one day and then forgot about it! so all of my walls are different colors. grey, green, yellow, and a mixture of all three xD hopefully some how I can paint my room this summer. and my mom said i could paint a mural on one wall if i showed her the sketch of it first! -happy-

pab brought his whole apartment home with him in his friend's suburban and he also brought his computer. he borrowed a SMARTboard from a friend, and it's awesome. it's super fun to draw on, so i'll probably be doing a lot of begging this summer xD.
