Car Repair Bullshit and House Loan

Well just like I thought, right when i think I'm done working on and/or spending money on this car I have to have a new timing belt put on. A weird sound is starting to come from that general area and most people that have looked at it think that's what it is... and I agree. Also, I checked the service history of the car and that part has never been replaced and they usually are replaced every 50K miles or so. The car has 88K on it... lol

It is a needed repair, and it will help it run even better than it already does, but holy shit the cost of such a simple thing is crazy! It apparently is hard to get to even though it's right there on the side of the engine, but I guess you have to move some stuff out of the way... so $300 bucks gone just for this... assuming they don't find that the sound is caused by yet another bad part. In any case, the belt needs replaced so I guess it's not a waste.

So in regards to more positive news, I did get that house loan... but the above mentioned car repair costs happened at the worst time ever as you must save up closing costs before you get the loan. That's about $2500. I have found a few houses I'm looking at in the general area, two of which are still available, while I lost one to another buyer that outbid me. No real loss since as I just said, I don't have the closing costs saved yet. I'm hoping I can have those costs wrapped up into the loan amount, but the loan amount must not be higher than the appraised value of the house in that event and must be below the value at least by the amount of the now included extra costs.

For example, if the house was worth 70K, in order to put in closing, the selling price must be $67,500. I'm hoping to get the seller to pay even a few other costs for me, cause I sure can't. Such as home inspection fees, surveys, title costs, etc etc. It's just a big mess of paperwork! Luckily, with the housing market being in the shitter mostly still, sellers are more willing to do more to get the thing sold and off their hands as fast as possible. So their loss is my gain. I just need to find a place I'm willing to spend 38 years in... most of them are not exactly what I want... least none has jumped out as being 'just right'... though that one I lost to the other bidder was very close. It was private, no neighbors, pretty big yard and came complete with everything including furniture. Move in ready!

Anyways, seems there's just too much going on all at one time right now... I feel at the point of just snapping to be honest.... but we shall see... needless to say, because of the two above things and costs involved, I'll be eating noodles more this next month than I was planning on. Weee, being poor is so fun! .... but I'd still rather be poor than a rich spoiled asshole everyone only likes cause of their money.

Had a great time and it didn't rain as much as I was expecting so yay there. Also got to play with my uncles new guns including an AR-15 which may or may not have a full auto trigger... eh, yeah less said the better. He also got a new XDm .40 by Springfield and it's a damn nice pistol I must say, though I don't like how the top bit is heavy compared to the grip and body below the slide. Trigger pull is also odd so I didn't shoot very well with that. However, the 1911 Colt was as fantastic as ever and I even shot it better than my uncle did. Though to be fair he's a bit out of practice these days cause it costs so much for ammo, less practice is a result.

Also, I got the car fixed and it is now dent free. Took a couple hours of work but besides some slight leftover bumps and little bends on the trim the dents are out and the back left door now opens as it should. It don't look perfect but it damn sure looks better than it did. You can barely tell it was dented. All I have to do now is order a 30 dollar replacement driver side door mirror and pop that on and I'm good to go for that new inspection sticker. Car will then be done with all repairs but one.. which is just annoying so I may not even bother. Only comes up when I run the A/C anyways, so for now, I just pulled the fuse for the A/C. Never use it so who the fuck cares, besides with that on you can say bye bye to the normal 34 miles per gallon gas mileage I usually get. Not bad for a car made in 1997, though I have put on new updated fuel hardware and sensors.

So guess that's all then, I had a great time and hope to go again soon.

Nuff said.

This is just for the contacts I chat with often. If I happen to not catch you on Aim today I'll be going on a trip to the country for the next two days, maybe three. There is no cell service there so don't bother texting my phone, but if it works on top of cemetary hill like it did last time, I'll send out a few texts to you guys from there before I hike back down. That's IF I decide to hike up it in the first place. I'm gonna be trying to get a lot done while I'm out there. Gonna take advantage of my uncle's workshop down there and try to fix the dents in my car doors (yes they are still there) shouldn't be too much trouble as i can fix most things pretty well, and hopefully I won't get new dents on the way back when I head home!

Anyways I'm just looking forward to being out in the middle of nowhere for a while to get away from the bullshit money issues I've been having and am gonna just try to relax, do some campfire roastin and hiking around, and of course take my rifle and keep up on shooting practice a bit.

I'll talk to you guys when I get back, assuming I don't get crashed into by a semi and die or something... or break down on a back road and get abused by a hillbilly mutant... even though they would be kinfolk? lol

Later ya'll.

So just a small update on my next big life issue... my credit history is finally in the positive with no negative marks and I am starting up, again, the USDA Mortgage Direct Loan approval process. The previous 'black mark' that stopped me before is now gone and my credit is good, or at least no longer bad. lol

The loan official seems to think my chances are good even though, by her own words, there's a current 'rush' on this type of loan because of the recent surge of bad mortgages. Luckily, thanks to this crash of sorts, the prices on pretty nice homes in rural areas here have dropped big time and there are more within the price range I can afford.

If all works out the outgoing bills I currently pay shouldn't change much cept for of course the house payment will be higher than my rent is now, but good news, I can easily fill in that gap if I stop smoking. (120 bucks a month right there) Also I have a promise to myself to keep, no smoking in the new house! lol

Anyways, just wanted to share this cause I know there are lots of people out there starting out, or others that just want a place of their own with a little privacy, whatever, just know there are programs out there that help you even in these troubled times and if there's a catch to any of it at all it's this, act now before the funding dries up! Not one, but two loan officers (man I've been on the phone a lot lately.. oi) told me to rush this as they are literally 'running out of money' and the next funding won't be available, if at all, until October of this year.

A little about the program:

It's for low income people only, so if you got a good job you're on your own or you must use a different program. For those of us with little money (me times a billion) it's a blessing. Through all my research this past almost full year now I've found a few grips with it however.

1. They are VERY strict on qualification... one little thing out of place and you're fucked. Mainly in the area of 'trustworthyness' or credit history. Understandable, but they are rather uncaring with you when you have even one mark on your history. So if you've not been ok as far as money goes for the past two years solid, they will not let you in the door usually.

2. Initial buying still requires out of pocket expense in the form of title fees and/or closing costs that the buyer usually does not have. Odd thing really, it's supposed to be for low income people yet they expect you to have a couple grand up front... so be ready to save before hand just in case. One good thing at least, there is no down payment required for a Direct Loan from them.

3. Not really a drawback in my case cause I'm on social security... but you must pick a home in a rural area. YAY! Dream come true for me, but if you must drive to work or you have kids that need to go to school and such things, it's sortof a deal breaker to be out in the middle of nowhere. (not always, but many of the homes are) As long as there's a Walmart nearby I'm good... lol

4. Also not a drawback, but the person that inspects the homes here to allow them in the program is very picky on what to allow, so this thins out local home choices a bit. They literally get under the house and check for even the smallest foundation cracks, previous roof leak issues, etc etc. Personally I like this, it makes more certain the home is move in ready and will last you a very long time, but like I said, it can thin out home choices in the area when fewer pass the initial inspection.

5. House availability! As you can imagine, even in this market, they don't grow on trees. So even when I finally am able to pass qualification, the waiting game begins for that house that passes inspection and is in my price range.

6. Home prices. For a program made for low income people, it seems odd there are more than a few listings for homes with prices beyond what I myself would even call low income in order to be able to afford the monthly payments. I wish they would tweak the system (new Prez. seems to be wanting to) so that less 'more well off' people and more actual 'low income' people could get their first home.

7. System is very slow, but that may be due to the recent rush on them from so many needing a home. They are very busy these days indeed. In other words, be ready to wait in line big time as they don't rush anything through cept in rare cases when it's a family with children and they currently have NO home at all. Understandable that they should get to cut in line.

Well like I said, I've read a lot on it, but am surely not the expert on the matter. I can only base my chances on what the experts have told me and the educated guess I have enough knowledge to make. That guess now would be a 50/50 chance with the only real hurdle left being the income amount:house price ratio.

If you want to learn a...

So for the life of me I couldn't figure out why I can't get better overclocking outta this video card and I finally remembered the specs... card needs 26amp rail and my PSU only has 25amp... so in other words I'm lucky I can overclock at all at 725/1900/1836 - core/mem dual pumped/shaders... with the stability I have at the moment being rock solid.

The card can do far more and this would explain why it's running so cold and crashing when I try to overclock higher even though it's not even close to hot... it can't get enough power. This also explains why the card can't do anti-aliasing very well... the more features you turn on the more power it draws.

At some point later I'll update the PSU so I can get the better levels of 790/2000/1900 out of it with full features enabled... but for now I'm plenty happy with the lower end of it and at least this way nothing is running hot or being pushed hard... cept maybe the PSU as it tries to keep up with the card... but if that dies that just gives me a reason to replace it early... but as long as it's working, is it really worth replacement of a perfectly good PSU just to get features I don't need and 7 frames a second more? Nah... lol, besides the only reason to do it would be to make 'you know what' run better.. as everything else runs just fine already.

Crysis... and actually, I must say, the game is very playable and works pretty well... shockingly... sure it's not PERFECTLY smooth at high/gamer settings all the time, but it plays great for the system it's running on. lol

Also, the graphics card can't play it too well with Anti-Aliasing on, but the rez is high enough that it don't really have to be on anyways.

So, here's a summary of the bench for all those into this sorta thing... the numbers make it out to be pretty crappy, but gameplay is mostly smooth almost all the time, but, this is what the testing software says about it...

Crysis Benchmark Tool 1.0.0.5

Global Game Quality: High

1680x1050, AA=No AA, Vsync=Enabled, 64 bit test, FullScreen

==============================================================
Benchmark GPU
GeForce 9800GT OC
Speeds: Core-725 Mem-950 Shader-1782
==============================================================

Run #1- DX9 Average FPS: 30.75

Run #2- DX10 Average FPS: 26.38

==============================================================
Benchmark CPU
AMD Kuma 64 X2 7750
Speed: 3ghtz x 2
==============================================================

Run #1- DX9 Average FPS: 28.76

Run #2- DX10 Average FPS: 23.80

EDIT:

Here's some more for Crysis Warhead

Crysis Warhead Benchmarking Tool 0.29

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 7750 Dual-Core Processor @ 3000 Mhz
CPU ID: AMD64 Family 16 Model 2 Stepping 3
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1
Physical memory: 4.00 GB
Display adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT OC 512 MB
Driver version: 7.15.11.8250 (20090327140300.000000-000)

DX10
Play Time: 124.86s, Average FPS: 28.05
Min FPS: 19.97 at frame 1734, Max FPS: 36.77 at frame 757
Average Tri/Sec: 2723446, Tri/Frame: 97097
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: 5.38

DX9
Play Time: 116.42s, Average FPS: 30.08
Min FPS: 19.43 at frame 86, Max FPS: 40.96 at frame 737
Average Tri/Sec: 2888625, Tri/Frame: 96026
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: 5.44

So there you have it, I know most say you need 60FPS at least to get smooth gameplay, and while I agree for the most part, the frame rates this system does for these games go far beyond what I was expecting for it, and at least I can play them relatively well even with high quality settings using a rather dated graphics card.

All other games that don't use the engine these games use, of course, run far better.

So just sittin here bored and lookin up stuff from my fav decade, yes that's right, I loved the 80s... almost everything about them, even the looming doom of being nuked dead and the cold war mumbo jumbo, it made things interesting without exactly being terror-like. After all, one fast flash and boom, and you're dead. These days we don't even got that, it's a more insidious sorta doom... anyways, many of my favorite songs, movies, and cars, came from the 80s. Postin a few for shitsNgiggles.

Safety Dance! [link]
Land of Confusion! [link]
Sweet Dreams! [link]

HBO logo I miss so much... lol [link]

Fav 80s movie. I'll have you know I remember everything important enough to me to bother remembering, past age 3... so from 1979 and up I'm good.

Anyways, I'd have to say the 80s is def up there on my list of great things... it's only second to the 1920s, which for some reason I have a fascination with and would love to be able to live also.

This thing has saved my butt more than a few times and has everything you could ever need on a boot CD so I thought I'd share a link to it for those that may not know about it.

Desc:

Hiren's Boot CD is a boot CD containing various diagnostic programs such as partitioning agents, system performance benchmarks, disk cloning and imaging tools, data recovery tools, MBR tools, BIOS tools, and many others for fixing various computer problems. It is a Bootable CD; thus, it can be useful even if the primary operating system cannot be booted. Hiren's Boot CD has an extensive list of software. Utilities with similar functionality on the CD are grouped together and seem redundant; however, they present choices through UI's differences and options in what they can do.

Home:

[link]

Download:

[link]

So I tested out the new Windows 7 beta available from Microsoft recently and I just wanted to say, for once, actually only the second time ever, I'm really looking forward to the next Windows version release! The last time I looked forward to a Windows version was way back for Windows 95, but at least this time I was able to try a beta so I know it won't suck as bad as 95 did. What a let down that thing was.

Anyways, if you have the skill, and know how to recover/backup your partitions. I highly recommend you give the new Windows version a test drive and see what you think. I found it way out performs Vista already, and it's just in beta 1 phase!

It's faster than Vista in the few benchmarks I've run, it's more stable. (Minus a couple issues which Microsoft already fixed and has updates for.) (mp3 file corruption issues)

Also, it feels more 'with it' and not as clunky and sloppy as Vista.

With all that being said, it's still not ready for main use. Windows XP SP3 is still the most trusted way to go. However, if you like to try the cutting edge and feel brave, give Windows 7 a try.

There is even a 'Lite' version available on a torrent if you don't want some of the less used features... go to [link] and search for:

"Windows.7.Beta.1.Build.7000.LiTE"

Official Microsoft Beta Builds:

Download Windows 7 Build 7000 Beta 1 [32bit] ISO

[link]

Download Windows 7 Build 7000 Beta 1 [64bit] ISO

[link]

Here's a link to the site I found all I needed to get Windows 7 up and running... see the comment section for detials:

[link]

Just a small edit to let anyone interested know the state of latest commissioned works I've tried to get:

1.
(Posted this one on FA... turned out great, so I recommend the artist if you want some work done.)

2.
(Prize commission I won from artist... waited about 6 months on this one, but most likely won't get as the artist says she's 'a very busy person'. One shouldn't offer a prize to draw something if they don't intend to do it for the winner!)

3.
(Jenendra in her bedroom pose shot... paid commission... and I've not heard back on this one for about 6 months either, I'll assume it's not gonna happen.)

Oh well, one out of three ain't bad... I guess... :/

Thy

So I won a free commission for getting a screen cap of an artist's 20,000th page hit and work will begin on that one as soon as I figure out what I want it to be of.

Artist is:

Not sure when that will be done, may be some time... but stay tuned.
So I finally decided to try this... not caring if I toasted my ancient xbox... surprise surprise... it worked like a charm... but I did notice that about every tutorial I read online was either too complicated or required me to buy extra shit I didn't want to spend money on... so... I did it my own way.

Again, not caring if I toasted the system, keep in mind... it worked PERFECT and I have XBMC working PERFECT and am currently playing some Super Nintendo ROMs on it as I type.

So, here is how I did it:

Softmod Xbox general info...

This is just how I did it for the most part and NOT meant as a tutorial! Don't try this unless you know what you are doing, but this is, how I did it.

NO memory card or USB cable or FTP into xbox crap needed!

Tools you do need:

Xplorer360
Game save exploit files and original game disc
(no way around this unless you use a different method to make drive from scratch... which I didn't... my method is more for stock HD and allows you to keep your game saves and what not that is already on the drive)
SID 5 Installer
AID 4.13 Installer
PC to hot swap with.

Steps:

1. Unplug xbox dvd IDE cable from the back of the drive
2. remove tiny connector on pins on back of xbox hard drive (the master/slave toggle thing... you don't need it back on)
3. turn on xbox and wait for error (HD is unlocked now)
4. remove IDE cable from xbox hard drive LEAVE XBOX POWER ON!!!!!!!

WARNING if you lose power to drive while hot swapped... drive is useless forever without buying a MOD chip most likely!

5. connect IDE from your computers secondary IDE port to the drive while computer is ON... DO NOT TURN OFF COMPUTER WHILE DRIVE IS CONNECTED!
6. in device manager scan for new devices
7. once found, run Xplorer360, load hard drive and drag over game exploit files and SID installer to correct folder (UDATA folder on partition 4)

WARNING be sure to copy over the two files... game exploit for the game you have and the SID installer! The folders... not the zip files!!! Careful study of the UDATA folder will let you know how they should be placed. I will not say exactly as it may be differently named folders on your system!! Be careful!!!

TIP: if there are other game saves for the same game (same folder number name) delete them all so there is only the exploit save inside the folder.

8. remove xbox hard drive from pc and reconnect all connectors on xbox
9. reboot xbox and insert game
10. load new mission and/or game save from inside game... PRESTO! SID softmod installer should open
11. use menu to setup the system and reboot... done
12. to install further applications like XBMC.. simply turn on xbox and insert AID installer disc

Complete in about a dozen steps

Software needed is: AID 4.13 from here... you download 4.10 and update using 4.13 pack... this contains the SID 5 file and game exploit files.

[link]

Xplorer360 is here.

[link]

Final note: The AID and SID installers both, can have huge delays on startup.. if you get a black screen when they are loading JUST WAIT!!! Give it at least 5 minutes to be safe. My wait time is about 2 minutes with AID 4.13 disc startup/load.

Again, this info is not complete... you MUST READ INSTRUCTION FILES/MANUALS that come with the software to fully understand what to do.

This is just an outline.

Do NOT attempt to do this if you are a novice! That being said, I am a novice and it worked fine... but maybe I was lucky.

Good luck!

If you try this, and toast/brick your system... it's YOUR OWN FAULT and I can't be held accountable for this... etc etc etc!!!!!
