Whoohoo! Now all I need is a job. Mom keeps pressuring me to work for a Catholic school, and it is driving me nuts. I have nothing again Catholic schools, it's just that private schools pay much less then state and they have fewer benefits. In all honesty, I can't afford to work for one unless I keep my job at the craft store. And I know that will lead me to a mental break down. I have to admit, it almost happened while a few times while I was student teaching this past semester. Don't want to put up with a few years of that crap.

In other news I also have a Facebook account. Yep it's official. Hell froze over. Also since I so much free time now, I've been reading and playing games again. I have a few idea's for sculptures I wake to try out because I want to play around with a few techniques. I'll post the results if they turn out good.

Wow, this past week was crazy. I started student teaching Wednesday at Western Guildford High School. Somehow the letter that had the date and location of my assignment got lost, so imagine my surprise when I woke to a phone call from my professor and adviser asking why I didn't go to the school. >_< I had to get dress fast, look as professional as possible, rush down to the school and give a professional apology for why I didn't come when I was supposed too. Luckily my coop teacher was nice enough about it.

The kids are great! They are surprisingly well behave and on task with their projects. I'm going to be spoiled with these kids. But don't worry, I'm going to get a nice wake up call when I go to my middle school assignment on March 30th.

Oh yeah, I've been addicted to Dragon Cave for a while.
I hope everyone had a good holiday! It's been a while since my last journal update. I went to Greenville about two weeks ago to visit Sarah and Rob. I hadn't seen them since the wedding last year, so it was really good to finally catch up in person. Unfortunately I could only stay for two days because of my job. Oh well. I had a blast though, playing Rock Band 2 with them and Ed. ^^

Also, it is official. I will be student teaching this spring! I don't know where my assignment will be though. I'm hoping for either a high school or a middle school. Once I finished with that, I'll expand my career search to cover the whole state. I have enough money squirreled away in my savings so that if I have too, I can move and pay a few months rent before I get a regular pay check.

I've also got hooked on the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. I just started book four today. I tried to read a different book between two and three, since I have such a huge "to-read" pile, but I ended up putting it aside so that I can get further into the Anita series. Those books are like crack.

Finally, my brother gave me a kick ass Christmas gift this year. A signed Apple Geeks poster that he got costumed framed! I love that web comic! They even wrote "Merry Christmas Tamara!" on it, which made me laugh a lot. Now I just need to find wall space to hang it...

Have a happy New Year everyone!

Been over a month since my last update! Well nothing new has been going on lately, art wise anyway. I'm throwing ideas around but nothing I think I would want to scan and put up for everyone to see.

Something that is kinda artsy though is I'm going to stretch a couple of canvases for this one of the customers from work, and she is going to pay me to do it. Her mother, who is a painter, had a few frames that were odd sizes and she wanted to do paintings for them. But the lady is pretty old and can't stretch canvases very well anymore, so I'm going to do it and earned a few extra bucks for it.

Alright, still have not found a teaching position, so I have decided to try things another way. I put in an application to do student teaching in the Spring so hopefully that will give me an advantage. I don't know where I'll be doing the student teaching yet, hopefully in a high school or middle school. Pros: I get experience as a teacher and become a more appealing candidate for getting a position. Cons: I have to pay for it, and I'll barely have time for a part time to pay for it. Hopefully it will all pay off in the end.

Since I do not have to worry about teaching until the spring, I am going to the Sonata Arctica and Nightwish concert in Charolette, NC on the 24th. Tony, Hunter and Jessica have been bugging me if I would be able to go and I kept putting it off because I didn't know if I would be teaching by then. Their reply "You mean you can't play hooky when you're a teacher?" Well now I can go. Already bought my pass for it.

In other news, almost forgot that my own birthday was coming up. Again! I did this last year. At least I remember sooner this time. Last year I didn't realize it was coming up until my brother asked me what I wanted. That reminds, my brother's is a week after mine, so I need to get something for him. >_<

Also finished on set of arm warmers, and now working on a pair of wrist warmers. Once I finish those I'll take pictures and post them up. I think I will do commissions since I'm going to be needing the money soon.

Though I keep searching! It's getting a bit depressing. Most of the schools that are hiring art teachers are elementary schools, which I don't have the patience for. I can probably do middle school, but I would really like to do high school. Hopefully I'll get something soon.

I have all my grades from PAL now, including my independent study grade, which I kept putting off. Amazingly enough, I got an A in it. I thought I would be lucky to get C, but apparently I'm good at bsing in essays.

Since I don't have a teaching position yet, I am short on money again. I am seriously considering doing commissions through here on DeviantArt. Since I started knitting again, I'll probably do custom armwarmers/wristwarmers since I can do them fairly fast, and do some pretty good quality work in them. I just want to play around with a few ideas and post some samples before I do anything though. On top of that, I'll probably also go to BioLife and start donating plasma too. That will be an extra $240 a month right there. I am just hesitant to go because of where the place is located. Not exactly the safest place in town!

I'm finished with PAL! Now I just need to get a job as a teacher. I'm just going to bite the bullet and take the Praxis II since things are tight money wise at the moment. I know I did good in the last two courses, I'm just waiting to see my grade.

In other news, I've reached over a 1,000 views and I've just noticed it. Wow... I'm observant! I probably should start adding more art to my galleries.

Now for some not so awesome news. My car was broken into Monday night/early Tuesday morning. They took my CD player, the power adapter for it, the cassette adapter, my Sugarcult CD that was still in it, and the power adapter for my cell. Pretty much they got away with $75 worth of stuff, but it still pisses me off. It makes you feel violated! I did file a report with the police, since this stuff has been happening all over my neighborhood lately. They gave me a case number but I doubt I'll hear anything else about it. At least they didn't damage my car. The lock on the driver's side has been busted for a year now, so that's how they got in.

Okay, now for something light hearted! I would so show this video to my students if I can get away with it. [link]

Today started the final week of PAL! Last week was just about murder though. One of my classmates actually dropped out half way through the second day of that week. I think I may have gotten 4 hours of sleep at night, during that week. There was just soooo much work. But I survived and I think I did well. Still haven't gotten my grade back from it.

In the other past three courses I've made two B+s and an A. As odd as it sounds, I really hate getting B+s. It's like they are saying 'You're not good enough for an A so we're going to mock you.' Especially when I miss getting an A by not even half a point.

In other news, I'm thinking about doing Student Teaching so that I can avoid taking the PRAXIS II. I got a look at a practice test of it for Art and it's intimidating! There are questions on stuff they never even went over in art school, such as stage, makeup, and custom set up. That's more Drama then Visual Art, but there it is on a Visual Art exam. Maybe I'm just freaking myself out, but still, better be safe then sorry.

He was asking me when I was going to be leaving for summer camp. I haven't been to summer camp since middle school! Hell, I haven't been involved in Scouts since high school. He was saying that he thought I wanted to be a counselor and I told him I never said anything like that, and made it clear that I can't get involved in camps because of my classes.
ugh... For the past few days I've had extremely bad muscle pain in my left shoulder. Like I've strained it or something. The thing is I haven't done anything to strain it. It started while I was driving to work on Wednesday. Put the heating pad on it when I got home and it helped a bit but it came back a little while after I took the pad off. It gradually got worse through out the day on Thursday and this morning I woke way early nearly in tears because it hurt so bad. For those of you may not know, I have a very high tolerance for pain so yeah, it was pretty bad. The first thing I bought after getting my pay check today was a box of those cold & heat patches from the drug store. It works on easing the pain, but my shoulder is still stiff. I would go to a doctor about this but I currently don't have health insurance and I really can't afford to pay for a doctor's visit at the moment. I hate having to borrow money from Mom but if the pain is still there by Wednesday, I'll have no choice.

Well on to happier news. Got to see fireworks today. I was leaving my sculpture evening class and as I was just about to exit the parking lot, I got a very good view of the display. So I parked my car and watched the show. Found out the reason for the fireworks too. It was part of Greensboro's 200 year birthday celebration that's been going on this whole week. I was a really nice show too and I'm glad I got to see some of it.

I'm also having way too much fun playing Grimlock in Drama Drama Duck. You want to know how hard it is to write in bad grammar when you are so used be close to correct? Anyway we are having a Tied-up virus coming soon and Grimlock is going to have Timon from the Lion King tied to his arm. I am sooo tempted to draw a short comic of that.

Tamara

Well yesterday we had a con-artist come in through work. The guy returned two big items. A air-brush kit for nails, and one of the Xyron machines we carry. The total was around $300 plus. And since the receipt said check we had to give him cash back. The he bought a air brush compressor that was around $250. He wrote a check for that too saying the money from the return was his mom's since she was the one to buy the stuff in the first place. Okay, pain in the ass, we did it and I called James, because any check over 100 we have to get a manager to approve. Made sure the address on the check and license match up and everything. This morning we found out the guy was at the Winston store, returned an item for cash, and then bought something on a check, came to our store did the same thing, and then went to Concord and did it again. All with very convincing, bogus receipts. And the checks and license are bogus too. The address on them is for a movie theater in Charolette. All the store were contacted and was told to keep an eye out for him. They think he was an ex-employee with the way he knew what to look for in the receipts. The sad thing is, I'm not really surprised stuff like this is happening more often. With the economy as it is, it's only going to increase.

In other news, I started messing around in Photoshop today for something other then resizing and image. I started playing in Dramadramaduck about two months ago as Grimlock. First lj rp I've been in for about a year. Anyway, I've noticed some people have been making Fan soundtracks of their characters with album art as well as lyrics. I decided it would be fun to do one for Grimlock. It would be a good exercise for me in Photoshop. I designed an album cover in Photoshop back in high school for a graphic design class but that was years ago. I have all the songs picked out and am currently messing around with the front cover. I need to find a good image of his dino mode for the back. I'll probably post them here when I'm done and then move them to scraps after a while. That is, if they are any good.

Tamara

Well the day went by pretty well.  Work was okay except for a few teenage drama queens.  Seriously.  They were drama queens.  They were buying stuff for customs for their drama class.  But they were they rich spoiled brats too so yeah.  -_-;

It took me 20 minutes to ring them up because they kept telling me I over charged them, saying they will spend that much on themselves but not for school. So after a lot of voiding and getting them to think on what they really needed I got their total down to about $55. They still kept saying that I over charged them because they figured it would be forty something. Then I told them how much the tax was and then they said "oh! We have to pay tax?" *bangs head* I just kept smiling and wishing them a good day when in my mind I was screaming "get the fuck out of the store!" Seriously. I'm starting to loose hope for humanity.

In other news, I'm going to scan in a few things from my sketch book so that I have a few more current works in my gallery.

Tamara

Well work went by pretty fast today. Was on the floor the whole time and didn't have to go on the register the whole night. That's always nice. ^^ Kept playing with the Beanie Babies up front. There is actually Beanie Baby Scorpion. I had to get him.

Also, I was just watching the news and found out that Bishop McGuiness's girls basket ball team won their game. For those who don't know Bishop McGuiness is one of the few Catholic high schools in NC and it's located in Kernersville, which is about a 30 minute drive from here. Now here is the amusing part. Their called the Villains. Now isn't that a funny mascot for a Catholic school. Hell, for any kind of Christian school. Just thought I would share that.

Tamara

*pokes journal with a stick*

Yeah haven't done much with this journal. I used to use my lj account more often but I hardly go on it anymore unless it's to rp some character. Since I'm trolling around on DA more I figure I'll start using the journal more. I promise for real this time!

I've decided I'll keep this account more updated and better maintained. I cleaned up my gallery some and put some works that were fan art or not up to my standards into my scraps. I've been working in some more three dimensional works lately. I had post two of my masks a while back. I'll put some more in stuff in later, even some of my old work. And some new stuff too hopefully.

Well that's all for now.

Tamara

Been going through my gallery and putting stuff that's all that great into scraps. Basically my character drawings and concept art. I need to do some better drawings for my characters one day.

Speaking of my characters, I started writing again. My friend Sarah offered to help me with the editing, which I'll really need considering I have a bad habit of spelling words backwards. >_< I told her to let me know if the story was crap and not to be afriad of hurting my feelings.

I've also got a new sketch book/journal the other day. It's one of those small ones with the slate cover with a relief of dragons on it, like you see at Hot Topic. I found it in the clearance section and had to get it. ^^ I could throw it at someone and give them a concussion! I'll probably scan in some of the things I drew in there already.
