I'll be attending Tora-con in Rochester NY tomorrow (Saturday 4/25)!

My first con in like... 3 years I think? I won't be in the artist alley, i'll just be wandering around with my j-chan. I'm probably gonna put 'tira-chan' with my real name on my badge if you want to look for me xD

I'll most likely be carrying a red and blue Hello Kitty bag, or a Chococat purse. Since it's supposed to be uber hot, I plan to wear a skirt and tshirt (probably a Hello Kitty shirt x3), and flip-flops (my summer staple). If you happen to see me and want to say hello, please do!! Tho I don't know how many ppl I know on DA are local enough to be AT this con... who knows??

For those of you who don't know what I look like~ I'm short (5'2") with quite curly blonde hair, and on the pudgy side I will almost always be seen with SOMETHING either anime or hello kitty-related on my person, cuz I'm a dork like that.

Hey everyone~!

Just a quick note that I'll be on vacation starting today, all the way thru Monday! So I will not be on too much during that time. I'm sure I'll have access to a computer some time during those days, but not for very long.

I'll be visiting family in Washington DC, possibly visiting the Smithsonian, sight-seeing, and whatnot. So I won't be checking my messages everyday =B

I WILL be attending Tora-con in Rochester, NY next next Saturday. I don't have a table in artist alley (I'm lazy and just want to hang out) but if anyone else is going, let me know!!

Hey just a quick update of annoyance here x_x;

Someone's using my Prier fanart as their avatar in her blog, but I have no idea how to contact this person or the website. I'm not a member there so I have no clue. The page hasn't been updated in a long time, but it's still my art on someone else's page and I did not give permission to use it!!

Now that I have a nice fancy journal again, I'd like to make it look pretty! But I have no idea how to use that CSS thing that everyone's been using to make custom journals.


So if anyone has some advice, or knows a FAQ/guide on how to do it, please send the info my way. Or, if you do journals and would like to make one for me, and have the link to your page displayed in my journal for the next year, do tell me!!


I'm not very good at coding and stuff, so if anyone could do this for me, it would be very appreciated. I'm quite lazy and don't really want to take the time to learn this

It's been a hectic month or two... I got a new job, then quit it after a month, so I'm currently unemployed and searching again... On that note, I'm selling some womens' clothing and such on ebay; cute stuff that's nearly brand new! I'm very meticulous and careful with my clothing: I basically sell this stuff because it doesn't fit anymore, not because there's anything wrong with it. Secondly, for those who don't know~ the NEW Slayers Tv series, SLAYERS REVOLUTION began airing in japan last week, and the first 2 episodes are already available online, fansubbed
I've watched them both, and I'm already in love all over again.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is the new animal 'mascot' tiny creature-thing called Pokota (I think?). He looks like a bad Pokemon character. One of the aspects I always liked about Slayers was that it DIDN'T have an animal mascot. But if that's my biggest gripe about the show, that's not too big of an issue. Lina looks soooooooo pretty and shiny in the new animation style, and Zel...
(I've always been a Lina/Gourry fan, but Zel is pretty high on the list too~! )

I usually play late morning/ early afternoons, eastern time (at least until I get a job again), or later in the evening: after 10-11pm. Sunday is the day I play the most. I usually play as either Mario or Luigi, or my Mii, which is a mid-weight/size chara with blonde hair, funny anime eyes, and a pink racing suit. I most often use a Bike- my favorite for racing is the Zip Zip. I play Battle Mode more often than VS/Race Mode.

Gotta draw somethin to pay the bills!!
( I will get back to you about that, promise!)

But before that, a break to tell the tale of a moment of total, un-abashed fangirl-ing by yours truly. Having received my tax refund last week, I was able to afford tickets to visit Colin & Brad (from Whose Line is it Anyway?) for a third, yes third time. Unfortunately, they were performing in Ithaca, NY, which is about a 3.5 hour drive each way.

Luckily, jason likes to drive, and since he left me all by myself last weekend to take a mini trip/vacation himself, he owed me this time!

In any case, I was going to leave work early at 2pm (instead of the normal 5pm, so we wouldn't have to rush the drive there), but I was feeling super nauseous at around 11am... I thought I could make it, but the longer I waited (and the slower and more slower time went by), I began to realize that just wasn't going to work. So, after being annoyed at my manager (yes, the same one as last entry's plastic bag incident), I left around 11:30. Stopped at rite aid to get some pepto, and headed home. Took some pepto and decided to try and rest for a couple hours before jason came to pick me up.

No such luck.

I was feeling just as yucky by the time he arrived, and I didnt know if I could handle the 3hour+ car ride when I needed to run to the bathroom every 10mins... but he and my mom convinced me to go, assuring me that I would be kicking myself if I didn't go.

The ride there was bumpy, in more ways than one, but we somehow made it to Ithaca, nearly 2 hours before the show start. I had barely eaten anything during the day due to feeling so icky, so we found a small restaurant to grab a bite. The restaurant faced out onto a common-area street (it was an open-air mall/shopping centre basically), and while we ate, I commented that I always wondered what Colin and Brad did before a show. Do they practice/warm up? Just hang out at their hotel and relax?? Walk the town/city?

I joked that it would be funny if they happened to walk by outside in the commons, and I would keep watch at the window just in case, never expecting it to actually happen.

Little did I know, that approximately 30mins later, IT DID HAPPEN.

There, out the window, less than 100feet away, I first saw Colin, and... still in disbelief, then saw Brad walking beside him! I nearly had a heart attack as I pointed at the window and burst out with "Oh my god, THERE THEY ARE!!!!!" Jason urged me on~ "Go!! Go and see them!!"

Here is where I freaked out to the tenth power~ I didn't know what to do, what to say, how I would approach them, would I offend them??? I made several attempts to try and get out of my chair, but my legs wouldn't work. Jason urged me on, and finally I jumped out of my chair and rushed out of the restaurant (Jason didn't go, lest we get in trouble for a dine n' dash, as we hadn't paid for dinner yet).

I jogged outside (as several of the other restaurant patrons looked at me funny) and followed along behind Colin and Brad (and their manager/agent I assume) and finally managed to squeak out some words. "Could I say hello?? please??"

They stopped and turned around when I spoke.

I said hello, and how me and my fiancee just drove over 3 hours to come and see the show, and that we were really sad when they couldn't make it to buffalo last year. Colin said "Yeah we were sad too."
( I dunno he meant it or not, but who cares!)

He shook my hand after I managed to introduce myself and tell him that I'd seen him twice already in other places. I managed to then ask if I could have a hug~ and he said yes~!

So I got to hug Colin Mochrie!! He's a pretty small guy in person~ but he humored me and let me give him a big hug (I didn't want to be rude and smoosh him).

A passerby on the street saw me talking to them, and pointed at Colin "oh my god it's YOU!" and asked if she could have a picture. At this point I was damning myself for not remembering my own camera, which was back in the restaurant in my purse!! New stuff!! (eh, sorta...)

Still no new job...
i might have to just settle and try for an insurance rep job with geico, since they're ALWAYS hiring around here. it pays well, but... it's insurance.
It might be my last resort.


On the front of afore-mentioned extreme jack-assery, while I was working tonite I was stocking merchandise. One box was full of those foamy packing peanuts/popcorn. Normally we just throw them out afterwards, but since I've been trying to sell some stuff online, I take free packing supplies where I can.

So, I walk to the front of the store and grab an empty shopping bag (the regular ol' plastic kind-- it's all we have), and come back. As I start to pour the peanuts in the bag, my manager comes walking over and asks what I'm doing, that I don't have to put them in a bag to throw them out. I tell him I'm taking them home with me, as long as that's okay (since we usually throw them out-- as I mentioned-- I assumed this wouldn't be an issue).

To my sheer astonishment, he reaches out and says "Oh no..."
He takes the bag (which I'd only filled about 1/4 full so far), and dumps the peanuts back in the box. "You can just take them home in the box," he tells me. "I don't want the box. It's dirty and falling apart," I tell him in response (which it was: the box was gross).

Then he takes the bag, wads it up in his hands and says
"Well, I won't be losing money just so you can take garbage home."

**Insert WTF face on me here**

Yes, you read it correctly. He won't be "losing money" by having me take a precious, immortal, ever-so-expensive PLASTIC SHOPPING BAG home for... FREE!! That would just be crazy!!

I seriously had no words.
(I was thinking of quite a few choice words of the 4-letter variety tho)

He took the empty bag and walked away with it- to take it back to the registers at the front of the store. It was rather amusing over an hour later I saw him still carrying it around with him, meaning he hadn't gotten a chance to take it up front. I was tempted to mention to him that had he left me with the bag, he (a) wouldn't have to carry it around and take it back, and (b) all the packing peanuts and empty boxes would've been cleaned up much sooner!!

YARGH.

*warning; rant ahead.*

okay, I'm sure there's lots of people out there in worse situations than me, but seriously... NOTHING has been going my way lately. Got yet more job rejections... (one over the phone, and several emails for others) and in the meantime I've been waiting over a month for another guy to get back to me. I had my interview on February 18!!! I've only called him about 10 times since then, only getting him on the phone in person about 3 times...

the anime con at daemen college i was supposed to attend march 8 was cancelled due to snow. it hasn't been rescheduled yet, and i haven't gotten a refund for the 50$ i paid them! (registration fees and artist alley payment). emailed them twice and no word back yet about ANYTHING. their website has no info either about anything.

my parents are buying a new car soon, and that means i will have to start paying for my own insurance. this probably should've started for me years ago, but it starting now is just about the worst time, since i have NO extra money at the moment... there's also been talk about me having to pay rent in the near future.

I'm gonna have to start cutting into my savings account soon i think, there's really no way around it.

I've been having more trouble than usual sleeping, from the job-hunting stress issues. and i tend to get so nervous when i do actually get interviews that I get almost physically ill (ie: throwing up) the day before. that's been a recurring problem in general lately...
stress= anxiety= feeling so sick i can barely function properly.

I know all this crap is stemming from not finding a job, and it just pisses me off to no end that nobody wants me to work for them!! having a degree has proved useless, utterly and completely USELESS so far. i know a few friends and such have suggested i go back to school for a masters' degree in art (like specifically drawing, art history or whatever), but i honestly don't think it would help anything, other than to just add thousands more to my student loan deficit.

i just want to scream... and have that scream reach the person that wants to hire me, right now... full-time... for $10/hour... that's all i want... that's all i need.

oh yeah, my subscription here is over in less than a month too... with my craptastic computer i don't know if i'll be able to do anything once the subscription is up. the ads will probably kill me before i even log on x_x;

in the one bit of bright news in my life, i should be doing pretty well with my tax return next month... provided my mom and i did it correctly. we're going to a tax clinic/aid next week to make sure... cross your fingers for me.

Another year, and I'm still at the job i hate... still living at home... and still driving the same ol' car that seems to be slowly dying.

Good times.

Oh yes, things here are the same as usual too. I still get less pageviews/comments/whatever than lil teenage artists that just draw the same HUGE-eyed anime girls over and over, with super bright colors and the same facial expression in every single pic. More burn and dodge please!

And nobody is buying my prints either, while yet again- teenage generic anime-fluff wins.

As if to add insult to injury, I had a job interview this past thursday, which would be a good thing, normally. Except when the place I go to is CLOSED and locked up, lights out. The office next door had no idea what was going on. I waited over 45mins, just in case they had stepped out for lunch or something. But nobody ever showed, and their phone number automatically sent me to a voicemail that was already full and not accepting any more messages.

I've called twice more since then and got the same auto-message. =/


I just can't win.


I also got a Yoshi's Island DS for xmas...
and I don't own a nintendo DS. (my aunt tried~ she just doesn't know anything about video games)

Bad, bad saturday...

Work wasn't horrid on saturday, which was a pleasant surprise. Normally the 'long' shift on saturday makes me want to kill things by the time 5pm rolls around.

I stopped to cash a paycheck, then spent about a third of said check on filling my car's gas tank ($2.89/gallon!! and that's about the cheapest it's been all summer...).

Get home, and find two letters waiting for me on the table.
Both are from places I applied to for jobs/work.

First letter, from a sign shop I applied to. It was a design position, and nice and close to my house (which is rare, I live in the middle of nowhere~ and I realize I'll be moving out SOME time soon, but even so). The first thing I see at the bottom of the [very short] letter is " We wish you luck in your continued job search..."

Reading a few lines back, it doesn't take long to realize it's a rejection letter. I crumple the paper and throw it out.

Second letter, from a new bank, opening up near my jchan's apartment. This would be a good place as well, since bank hours are predictable, and the location was convenient.

Open this one, and a couple lines down, see "We have found other applicants better matched to our needs" and "We'll keep your application on file"

Yes, ANOTHER rejection. Two in a row... on the same day. How am I not qualified for a bank?! I have nearly seven years of retail experience, several of my past jobs included counting and tallying my own register (meaning I am rather adept at handling/counting money). My register has never been short more than a dollar.

Crumple that paper as well... and I lost it.
I spent the next half hour or so crying like an ass, and with nobody home to console me (my brother was home, but he doesn't count. i doubt he would leave warcrack for the 5mins to even hear why i was upset)

My parents and jchan arrived shortly later, and I had since (somewhat) calmed down and cleaned up. But after my mom asked me if anything was wrong, I broke down a 2nd time.

Jchan and my mom consoled me, told me I was too good for those places, and there will be something for me down the road, and all that... but that doesn't help so much as getting a job would do. I appreciate and love them both, but it still hurts. It hurts a lot.

So, after settling down again, and changing my clothes, my jchan decides to call around and set something up with our friends. After a few phone calls, we all decide to meet up and play lasertag. A good way to let off steam and have fun. We would all meet after dinner, which me and jchan always do together on saturdays.

During the drive there, my stomach feels a bit woozy. I figure it's just from the stress, crying, and being hungry. I hadn't eaten since lunch at work, and that was over 5 hours ago. Once I get some food in me, I;ll feel better: I tell myself.

But I wasn't. I barely ate 1/3 of my salad at dinner and maybe one bite of my sandwich. I was frequently running to the bathroom (tho little or nothing happened). Jchan picked me up some pepto at the market. Took that, but still felt yucky. By now it was close to game time, and I felt sick just to stand up.

So, after being out for less than 3 hours, jchan took me home. I didn't want to keep our friends waiting at lasertron forever, and i apologized to them since I wasn't going to play (and jchan, having drove me there- wouldn't be playing either). They had already waited for us about a half hour, and I didn't want them to not play just because of me. I had a feeling I would feel better once I sat and relaxed for a while, but wasn't certain. And I didnt' want to make them wait MORE, if then I still couldn't play anyhow. Home we went.

Took more pepto, still felt horrible, still couldn't/wouldn't eat...
Spent the rest of the night lying in bed, jchan staying with me til about midnight.

After 'treating' myself with more chalky pepto and several hours of anime and late night, uncut episodes of Drawn Together, I went to sleep.


Bad, bad saturday...

Okay, I dunno if anyone else is having this problem...

I haven't been able to see my comments/messages for about 3 days now, and have been having this issue on and off since... May or April.
Has anyone else had this issue???

Very aggravating to say the least...

I know I HAVE comments, since there were at least 5 or so that I hadn't replied to when I last saw my message centre intact (which was on friday I believe).

I sincerely hope DA will be giving some partial refunds ( or extended subscription) to subscribers since this is just ridiculous. We pay to USE this site, it would be nice if a problem that's been consistantly inconsistant for several MONTHS would be fixed at some point this summer...

I've contacted the help desk at least twice or thrice, and get the same response each time (or advice that doesn't change anything).

I need real Help!



Oh, and another thing:
PLEASE reply to my latest poll! I'm trying to get a direct response from my watchers so I can provide what YOU want for prints. I can't do that when only one person actually leaves a comment!

This is probably going to seem kind of sudden, since I hadn't brought up this subject at all since it happened.

Our family dog, Wilma, had to be put to sleep back on February 28.

I've never mentioned it since it's been just so painful.

But I decided I will bring it up today, (tho technically yesterday) on what would have been Wilma's 12th birthday.
Yes, my family kept track of her birthday, and my mom used to buy her a present every year.

I'm trying not to be sad.

I'm trying to remember all the good things about Wilma.

And it makes me miss her even more.

Awesome design!! That weapon would be hell to create as a cosplay prop, but would look incredible xD!! I have to admit I thought the chara was a boy at first though. Her face and expression are more... manly, at least compared to what I'm used to. Another pic I would very much like to see colored at some point!

Such pretty hair~! and wings~! Anyone that's seen at least a couple pics in my gallery will be able to tell that I like ribbons in my drawings, and that's probly why I was drawn to this one. The feathers and her floating necklace are nice touches too. I also can't draw hands for crap, but you did pretty well!

I am so sick of snow~!!

People can complain all they want when they get a dusting of snow and zomg the temp is below 40!>!>>!?? but I'm guessing most haven't experienced western NY winter weather. Last saturday, my drive home from work took over an hour-- it normally takes about 30mins. (And we DIDN'T get the worst of it either!!) There were literally times whilst driving home that I had to stop, as with the blowing snow I could not see 5 feet in front of my car, just a sea of WHITE, slightly tinted yellow by my headlights.

What's worse was that there was nobody in front of me, so I had nothing to guide me. I was guiding several other people behind me (who, luckily, were staying a good enough distance behind me-- the last thing I needed would've been people tailgating me x_x).

By the time I got home I was in tears~ driving shit like that is draining!! I wanted to just curl up in bed and hide. My knuckles were probably as white as the snow. I didn't drive any faster than... 35 the whole way home I think?? And the main road I drove to get towards my home road... no faster than 20 I think. I was yelling at the snow occasionally while driving, begging it to stop blowing around so much. You think you know a street when you drive it nearly everday, but take away ALL visibility-- I'm talking you can't see the road itself, forget about the lines on it!! And not even being able to see other cars until they're about... 10 feet away... You don't know the road THAT well. Definitely not a fun experience...

On top of that, we spent about 2 hours on sunday shovelling and snow-blowing to make the driveway visible again. My poor car looked like a marshmallow. If I knew where my dad left his digi-cam i would've taken pics. :snow:


Valentines was mostly uneventful, since my jchan's got a problem with his car so we couldn't go out and do anything. We stayed in and made chicken chow mein and watched Deal or no Deal. I feel bad for him~ neither one of us can catch a break. Me with NEVER finding a real job, and just about anything else going wrong for him whenever he finally starts to get back on his feet/get ahead of bills, etc.

It's depressing~

Remember how I got a 2nd parttime job at lane bryant back in november?? Yeah... black friday was the last day I worked there, and I haven't been on since then. I go in on Sat to check my schedule this week, and guess what??

"Oh well, since the holiday season is over..."

Yeah, I'm done there.

I worked a total of... five days there I think?? Maybe six. What aggravates me the most is that they didn't just cut me off right then and there. They kept me hanging on the schedule for literally a month with NO hours whatsoever. I know I was hired on a seasonal/temp person, but come on!! If they were only going to give me 5 days and then nothing.. I could've gotten a job somewhere where they actually NEEDED me!! Every retail place hires at xmas time! And now they don't need anybody.

On that note, my original job at ac moore is now cutting my hours... This shouldn't be permanent, but it's because of these 2 factors I'm writing this entry. I have a bit more free time this week than originally planned, so if anyone would like to commission me, tis a good time!!!


Give an underpaid, in debt, minimum wage putz (ie: me) a break!!

Heloo all, hope your holidays were merry and bright and all that jazz. i really hope it was better than my xmas day.

xmas eve with the family went off without a hitch. Relatives came over, including jchan's family (and his older brother and his wife, from washington dc) and gifts were exchanged, much food was snarfed, and much booze drank (mostly by my aunt, who fell asleep on the sleeper sofa with our dog).

xmas morning went off well, too. More gifts were exchanged, xmas breakfast was eaten, followed later by xmas dinner. Jchan and his dad picked me up to go to his parents house after dinnner, where there were some yummy chocolat chip cookie bars and milk to snack upon. after snacks, the four of us- me, my jchan, his brother and his wife- proceeded to the basement to play some mariokart doubledash on the gc. That's where problems would begin shortly after...


after about 30-40 mins of gameplay, my stomach just wasn't feeling right... after using the bathroom 3 times, i asked my jchan if we could head out earlier than we'd planned. I felt super-nauseous and just wanted to get home.... Let's just say it was a good idea to take a couple plastic bags along the ride home, cuz I lost the majority of all that yummy xmas food I'd eaten several hours before. x_x
and it didn't stop there.

I would be up every 30-40 mins for the rest of the night, losing more and more of my lunch until I was empty. You'd think that would stop the whole process, but i wouldn't be that lucky... I don't think I slept more than an hour at a time that night and was literally empty and exhausted by tuesday morning/afternoon. All day tuesday would be spent in bed, drinking flat Sprite and eating nothing all day (i could not even keep the sprite nor the water down for long unless i drank very small amounts over extended periods of time).

I managed my first real food on Wednesday (and ventured out of my bedroom to veg on the family room couch for the majority of the day), which consisted of one piece of plain, dry white bread for breakfast, half a can of cambells chicken noodle soup at around lunchtime, and 2 pieces of toast with a smidge of grape jelly and half a glass of milk before bed. Oh yes, and more flat, room temperature sprite o_-


I don't know what the hell happened to me, but i really hope I don't get it again x_x
I managed to eat a small bowl of cereal, more chicken soup, a small amount of cheddar cheese, and some jello today. And yet more sprite, tho at least now I can drink it semi-cold wihout issue.

In other news, I managed to survive black friday last week, barely x_x Though the day started off on a very sour note when this ugly bitch with glasses and a bad perm stole my parking space right in front of me. The mall was PACKED, so the only way to get a space was to "stalk" as I've deemed it. You drive around and wait for someone to exit the mall, and follow this person(s) to his/her car, and wait for him/her to leave. This was usually the only way to get a parking space at my university if you got there any later than... 6:30am.

Anyway, I had politely asked a woman and her lil girl if they were leaving. She said yeah sure, our van is right back there (about 3 spaces back from where I was). So i backed up my car, put on my blinker to turn left into the space and waited for them to pile into the car. While they were packing up all their shopping bags and such, from the other direction comes The Bitch. She stops, seeing them boarding the car and puts on her blinker to turn right into the space. Note this is several good seconds (maybe even a minute or two) AFTER i stopped and put on my blinker.

The woman in the van rolls down her window and tells me "I;ll try to back out so you can get in" but it's impossible. The Bitch is so close on the other side that the woman in the van has to back out around her, not in front of her (which would've been the polite thing to do, but hey, this is The Bitch we're talking about). As soon as she's clear, The Bitch zooms into the spot, looking RIGHT IN MY FACE as she does it, even tho I had already motioned to her that it was MY space and I was there FIRST. I blew the horn at her, but she didn't even look at me. She kept re-backing out and pulling back into the space since she initially pulled in crooked.

I waited. Another car, that had been behind The Bitch, pulled forward and slowed near me. "What a bitch!!" she said to me "I just saw the whole thing!" I replied "No kidding!! I'm gonna let her know that."

But I couldn't.

Apparently The Bitch was a coward as well as a parking-space thief. She wouldn't get out of her car!!! I would've waited longer, but i still had to find a space, and people were beginning to line up behind me. So I had to pull away without getting to give her a piece of my mind >_< I was absolutely livid.

And guess what?? After that, it took over 20 minutes to find a parking spot, and The Bitch made me late and lose a quarter hour of pay.

In less stress-inducing news, I have applied for a graphic designer job at a local company, where it looks like they mainly make banners, signs and promotional materials for companies. They emailed me back tonight to set up an interview next week. :nervous:

I will definitely be calling them back on monday to set up the interview. Please please please wish me luck. I want to escape retail hell!! (*please refer to last paragraph for just one of the many reasons why*)

Even better, this company is literally just down the road from where my jchan just got a new job. If I got this job, we could car-pool together (and I could probably move in too).

pray for my poor soul this black friday, as I will be working at not one, but two part-time jobs (yes I have two of them now x_x). I will be working 11-4 at lane bryant, then leaving from there to go immediately to ac moore at 5 to work until closing at 10pm. Usually we don't actually get to leave until 10:30. As if thats not enough, I'll be back to work 9-5 at ac moore on Sat. morning too!!

gonna try to possibly finish a new Prier fanart I started coloring yesterday, but I wouldn't count on it

and now off I go to edit/revise my resume, to hopefully SOME day escape the bowels that is retail employment... :shudder:

Nobody had their shovels or snowblowers or generators ready for such a thing so early in the autumn. The snow itself was bad enough, but guess what else the snow decided to do???

First off I was stranded at my jchan's house on thursday nite. We got over a foot of snow in about 4 hours (it was probly about 18" in the deepest parts), and it was wet, slushy, heavy snow. Without a shovel or blower, I was stuck. Being stuck there overnite wasn't too big of a problem.

What was a problem tho: NO POWER

Yes, electricity was knocked out, in total, in nearly 300,000 homes last I heard. And guess what?? At this moment, I still have no power, over three days later. Some people aren't expected to get it back until this coming Sat. x_X Supposedly, my house is to get power back tomorrow evening. But then again, my jchan was supposed to have power back by today, and that hasn't happened yet... So, I'm just waiting, not being very optomistic x_x;;

What's also pretty sad is that so many trees were damaged in this storm. WIth the storm happening so early, the snow stuck to the trees, many of which still had all their leaves, and the weight of the snow covering all the leaves and then freezing (cuz we also had rain mixed in with this snow), was just too much for the trees to handle. At least 50% of the trees in the county were damaged or knocked over entirely. The falling branches were a major cause of the power outtage, since they knocked out power lines as they fell.

So, at this moment I am updating from the local library, in case anyone cares what's been goin' on with teh nat~

I don't know when I'll be able to update again. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I'll get power, HEAT, and cable back sometime soon. The sooner the better. :cold:

Okay, this may sound like a rant, just giving warning...

Sometimes I dunno why I keep coming back to da. I mean really. I know there are lots of talented people on this site (i watch many), but sometimes, it just seems like it truly is impossible to get noticed on this site without luck, or just somehow attaining extreme popularity.

I think nearly 10 different people on my watch list have received Daily Deviations now, and yay for them~! But, when they get *another* DD, and are the type of person that rarely contributes to da other than to submit art (barely any comments/favs/forum/news comment/journal, etc)... I dunno, it steams my bean.

I don't think there's anything in my gallery that would ever be suggested, let alone actually GET a DD... still, it doesn't seem to be advancing DA as a whole when the same people we see on the front page all the time get picked for DDs on top of that. ( I have nothing against this person that was picked for a 2nd DD, just to be clear-- obviously he/she has no choice/bearing on the matter of being chosen, and is very talented)

I am aware that the people we see on the front page all the time are there because people choose/fave this art over and over, and that it's not the artists' fault they wind up there all the time, but come on! If people would stop being such sheep and would try exploring other art and artists, I think the site would be a lot more... what's the word? Diverse? Cultured? I don't know, but when the same people wind up plastered on the main page nearly everyday and virtual unknowns are... unknown! because they never get lucky enough to be featured, even tho they diligently post THOUGHTFUL comments, read and reply to journals, post in the forums and news threads, and respond to polls... they still pass under everyone's noses.

I'm not sure what I wanted to get across in this journal, but I just had to speak(type) my mind about something that's been bugging me for some time.

Guess who had the lovely experience of being an unwilling participant of a demolition derby earlier today??

So yeah... I was in a car accident on monday evening while en route to my jchan's place. It wasn't my fault though.

It went like this-- I approached the intersection of 2 fairly active streets. There had been lots of storms in the area today, and the traffic light at the intersection was out. Seeing the people in front of me stopping at the light and then proceeding through safely made me remember that when a traffic light is out of commission, it's meant to be treated like a stop sign. Meaning you pull up to the light, stop, wait for the people who were already stopped to go through, then you follow thru when it's clear. So, I did the correct thing and stopped at the dead light.

Here's where the problem began.

A woman on the opposite street in a black car pulled up and went right into the intersection without even slowing down, after I was already stopped. Pissed, I blew my horn at her as she proceeded in front of me. I didn't have long to dwell on her stupidity though, since while she smack in the middle of the intersection, a red suv coming from the street I was on (coming from the opposite direction), also decided to blow right through the dead light. He tried to swerve out of the way (tho he swerved the wrong way) and hit the black car on the drivers side. The suv, being MUCH bigger than the black car, sent it spiraling, directly into my driver's side fender and left side of my hood.

There was nothing I could've done to avoid it. Pieces of the red suv went flying all over the place as he skidded off-road into the grassy yard of the church at the corner. Someone or something in the church must've been looking out for his idiotic ass, since he was just yards away from hitting a metal light/electrical pole.

Once everything had stopped, and I realized that I was not hurt, I reacted the same way I had when I had my first car accident about 4-5 years ago.
I cried. A lot. My hands wouldn't stop shaking as I called home, and then called my jchan (who also suffered car troubles just days ago, the reason I was driving to his house, and not being picked up by him like usual).

My mom and dad got to the scene shortly (I was only about a 5min drive from home), as did the fire and police depts. We've already learned that people are ignorant assholes on the road, but there were still more of them, as the fire dept was trying to safely divert traffic, people from behind me were pulling AROUND the emergency vehicles and forcing their way through the accident scene. My dad let them know what he thought of them (I think the line went something like "Sure just pull right through, f***in assholes!!!" -- my dad doesn't take stuff like this lightly).

I had several officers and others coming to my car asking if I was okay. I was shaking like crazy but not hurt. My mom insisted I go to the hospital anyway. My aunt is a nurse, and my mom made sure she would be at the hospital when we got there. Getting to the hospital was more painful than the accident. They strapped me onto a stretcher and put my neck and head in a brace so I couldn't move around. I didn't mind this too much, except for the fact that they used wide tape (almost like duct tape) to secure the stuff, and in doing so taped several portions of my hair to and under the stretcher, which HURT like shit. Every time I was moved it pulled on my skull, and they wouldn't let me move to fix it. Stretchers have nothing soft about them-- just HARD, stiff, cold plastic (mine was wet on top of that, since it was raining).

The ride to the hospital was nearly an hour (at least it felt like that), and not only did I have my hair getting pulled every time the ambulance stopped or made a turn, I had to get my blood pressure taken about 6 times. Normally getting my blood pressure taken doesn't bother me, but the first 2 times, they used a machine, which is supposed to give a digital readout. But the machine wasn't reading or something. It still squeezed the HELL out of my arm, to the point that it really hurt!! So then they took the pressure manually with the ol-fashioned squeezy thing. About half-way to the hospital they took my pressure again, using the machine AGAIN. If it didn't work the first 2 times, the 3rd time isn't gonna be any different!! More smashing of my arm. (They also took my pressure AGAIN when I got to the hospital-- can it really change that much in one hour??)

In recent news, I am currently housesitting for my aunt while she's away in florida. I'm dog and kitty-sitting too, more than watching the house. I'll be here until the 10th of may (I think) so don't expect any new pics til after then most likely, since I have no access to my scanner nor tablet. And since I royally suck arse at drawing with a mouse, I wouldn't expect any oekaki either

In more interesting news, last saturday (apr29), guess who got to see Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood LIVE in Erie, PA??? A large theater full of people which included ME!!! (and my jchan ^^)
OMG, hands-down the BEST 50$ I have ever spent in one day. My throat was dry from laughing so hard. I only regret that we didn't move our seats to the floor level earlier (we got balcony seats, but there were lots of empty seats on the floor-- after intermission we went downstairs and sat in the first row!) and that I didnt get called on stage. That might be just as well tho, since I dunno if I would've been able to function since I'd be laughing and giggling and fidgeting so much. I do wish I could've hugged Colin tho~!!!

I made my own custom shirt to wear to the show that says "I Believe in the Snack Fairy" across the chest xD I even made my own lil wand that I held and waved around during the whole show. Yes I'm serious-- I'm that big of a dork xD
I would go to another one of their shows in a heartbeat if one comes close enough. I'll have to keep a watchful eye on colinmochrie.com til then!!!

In schoolness, I have completed all my exams as of this thursday afternoon. Granted that I pass them all, I will be gradumacated by the end of this week~
Being as cheap as I am, I won't be going to my commencement-- you'd think after all the money I dumped in the school already they could pay for my cap and gown... or at least give a discount price...

My DA subscription is up in less than a day... Back to no thumbnails and even slower- loading time. And ads ads ads galore!!

Because my work only withheld all of 4.60$ the entire year of 2005, I owed about 140$ to the state and irs for taxes. No return money for me...

I'm graduating soon... you're probly thinking, "isn't that good news?" but for me it's not. I'll be off my parents' insurance, which needs I need to find and buy my own ASAP, and I'll need a real job ASAP as well. $6.75 an hour at ac moore will not keep me alive. Most likely my parents will start to charge me rent as soon as school is over. More expenses...


I think I'm forgetting something, but this is depressing me, so I'll move onto the good news now.

Good news-- I got the illustrator job to draw a total of 13 colored pieces for a children's poetry book. However, this is a pay per drawing job, and not an actual position at a place... if that makes sense. It's basically 13 commissions in a row.

I'm selling some of my old anime goodies on Livejournal, much to my surprise. Rather than have it sit around in my room collecting dust, it's finding new homes with fellow otaku. More funds for me, anime for others = happy me.

I was told by an ebay rep that I don't need to send the item invoices and such as listed in the 3rd item above. But still... They haven't told me what the hell I did to get suspended in the first place!!! A generic copy/paste of ebay's user agreement tells me nothing.

I would've sent this info right away, but my printer is on the fritz at the moment (since the parents won't buy NEW ink for it)... I hope to get this settled so I can bid sometime in April. As it stands, ebay's shit kept me from bidding for nearly an entire month.

What I am asking today is a HUGE favor, but easy to do.

Any of my watchers, if you are an ebay user, I please ask for your assistance. I was suspended for absolutely no reason. I have perfect feedback over the course of almost six years on ebay. Over a week later, and five separate notes/emails sent appealing my suspension, I've received not ONE WORD from ebay's sorry excuse for customer service.

Goodbye, Media Play stores... I will always remember you as the first store to have an "Anime department" in my area, and being one of the few places that even sold anime, anime soundtracks, and manga. I will always remember the long lines at xmas time, and on replay nights. I will remember the fact that you were the only store to discount anime dvds, and offer discounts too (tho this meant your prices were a little on the high side to begin with, but I can forgive you).

I will remember buying my first real, Konami DDR pad at Media Play, and my first ever anime dvd (Gundam Wing vol. 1 xD). I will remember bugging several employees when my special orders came in late, or when I was never called for them. I will remember haggling with employees to let me take home anime store displays (and succeeding!). I will remember buying the Tenchi Muyo! video with the incorrect price tag (tag was for a 3$ golf book, on a 30$ Tenchi vhs) and feeling kinda guilty about it...

I will remember the Yoko Ishida concert in September '05, and thinking "Where else would I see a real jpop singer in concert besides a con, or in Japan?" I will remember getting Ms. Ishida's autograph, and thanking her in japanese (cuz I'm corny like that).

I will remember constantly being persuaded to renew my reply membership, even when I had just done it less than a week ago... And being asked again, when the store was to close in less than 2 months.

I will look at any empty Media Play storefront with sadness, especially after the lights and sign letters have been pulled away, leaving just the empty screws and wire behind, and the faded walls. I will remember all the last minute deals I picked up as your stores closed, and feeling a sense of regret leaving on that last day...

Back to school again AND they're cutting my hours at work, so I'm in shit-tastic mood!!

9:25-10:40am~ Romantic Movement in English Lit.
(The original professor never showed up, so now we have a professor I've had once before, and she's really nice; lil' british lady she is. There is not a single male/guy/boy in the entire class )

10:50-12:05pm~ Fundamentals of Safety
(I haven't figured out what the prof is actually teaching yet, since he's spent the last 3 classes just talking about class policy, and what he does/not tolerate, recent news from the paper, etc....)

(The prof is very much chinese and has a HUGE accent-- most of his notes that he displays on the overhead are somewhat engrishy. The class is huge tho, so I doubt there's gonna be any papers for that class *yay* )


I've lost one shift at work as well, so my hours have been cut by about 5 hours... When I only work 20hours a week, that's a quarter of my time. Now I'm down to only 15... I want to go to Anime Weekend Atlanta in September so I gotta start saving now, and this isn't helping...

Christmas has left the nat in much debt since she always buys more than she can afford... and since she's on winter break right now she needs something to keep her busy. So, here is the offer~

For a limited time, I will draw one chibi of your choice -- that is, a colored, completed drawing for only $10 each. This is a good 5$ less than what I usually charge, so it's a good deal for you

Here's what the deal entails--
ONE chibi character -COLORED- of your choice (can be a pre-existing anime/manga character, an original character, a chibi version of yourself, anyone!)
simple or no background
your choice of pose (remember chibis' short limbs!!)
the original file sent to you in colored and non-colored files
you may choose the dominant color scheme/mood also if you wish
an additional chara can be added to the same image for $10 more (tho if you want a larger group, we can negociate a price so you get a better deal)
the original sketch, if desired, can be mailed to you for an additional cost (which shouldn't be more than 2$ in the US)

a bust/profile shot of the character of your choice-- this basically means a shoulders-up, full facial of the chara, in normal (non-chibi ) size-- also fully colored

Not entirely too much has happened in the past month, but I bet I can fill up this journal with some slightly interesting tidbits.

Work News
-- It's pathetic to say it, but the situation with the girl in question (let's call her A) has not improved much. I'm not sure if she knows that i know what she did, but she sure as heck goes out of her way to avoid me. This I don't understand, unless she's worried I'm gonna tell a manager on her, which i already have.

Her latest crime: Eating and/or throwing out my lunch. Yes, we have good old STEALING now. A couple weeks ago, I left a frozen dinner in the freezer in the break room. I only left it there since our microwave was broken-- and was replaced later that day, but was after my lunch break-- and I planned to eat it next week. I tend to forget to bring my own food, so i decided to leave it there. I wrote my name on the box in black sharpie marker, and put it inside a media play bag, rolled it up and tossed on the shelf on Sat. afternoon.

By tuesday evening, the next time I worked, it was gone. The empty bag lay on the counter next to the fridge. The freezer was nearly empty so there was no way I missed it or misplaced it. I told my manager about it right away, since it seems a bit TOO much of a coincidence... he told me he would talk to A... a good week later he talked to me and said that she denied it. Of course. She never fesses up to anything, or bothers me face to face. She has to do it in secret like the cowardly bitch she is.

And lo, the temptation bestowed to me just this last Wedsnesday.
I look in the fridge while on my break and what do I find?? Leftovers with A's name on it, and "Don't eat!" written on the box. Thoughts flew thru my head; throw it out, toss part of it and mess up the other food so it looked like someone had picked at it (it was chinese food leftovers- an egg roll, rice, and stuff), spit in it, or dump salt or pepper or sugar all over it (probably salt)...
or even... (joking of course >B)

I was seriously considering it....

But I ultimately decided not to lower myself to her cowardly level. That, and the fact that I would most likely be the first suspect when she would go and bitch and moan to the manager about it.

Should I be proud of myself for sticking to my standards, or feel dumb that I missed a golden opportunity to mess with A?? Not a single person came in the break room the entire time I was in there either, so I would've been able to do it quite easily... *sigh*

School news
-- Ah yes, what has been taking up the majority of my time as of late. I'm taking an english creative writing class that is a writing intensive class, and I have homework for it nearly every weekend. Since I work on Sat. morning then hang out with Jchan afterwards, it only leaves sunday and part of monday for good solid hw time, and usually... I don't feel like working after all the school and work-filled week, so I usually wind up vegging in front of the tv with FullMetal Alchemist 2 (I'm in my 2nd playthrough), or playing DDR Extreme 2 (possibly the best DDR home game to date).

Hence, not much time for arts from teh nat

I also have advanced painting twice a week, and while it's much different than painting on the comp, sometimes I feel art-ed out, if that makes any sense. Oh yeah, I'm also taking Renaissance art history x_x

Another class that takes up way too much time is Sociology of the Family. Last week my first research paper was due. I'm not a huge fan of writing papers, but they normally aren't too much of a problem for me. However, they are a problem when the professor tells you exactly how she wants the paper written. Now, first off work news, I'm annoyed to report that the situation hasn't improved with whoever's been messing with my stuff. When I arrived on friday evening, my hello kitty sticker had been torn off completely, and my bell was gone (that had happened a couple days prior).

So, I took a piece of scrap paper and wrote "to whoever it concerns-- stop messing with my locker!!" Nothing offensive, no name calling, no accusations. I was a lil miffed about my sticker being pulled off, but it wasn't a horrible offense or anything

However, sometime after I took my lunch break on Sat. afternoon and returned later for my 15min break, found that somebody took the note off the locker, drew a face on it, and stuck the note back on my locker, the text now upside down. A face would not really be a problem for me, only this face was, on closer inspection, made to look like
a penis.
You can use your imagination as to what parts were corresponding parts of the face.

This isn't funny (not that it ever WAS but you know what i mean)- I've been told that this counts as sexual harassment. I told my parents and my fiancee as soon as I got home. I took the note to my manager right away too (before i left work obviously). My mom was not happy about this at ALL. She called the manager, rick (we all know how much i adore him ) to tell him about it, and apparently sam, our assistant manager, had failed to tell him about the situation before he left for the nite. I had gone to sam about the whole thing since I'd told him about the other crap this person's (or persons) being pulling with me. rick hadn't heard a word about it. My mom informed him how it was illegal to make me work in a workplace like that, and said he got realllly quiet.

I'm supposed to talk to rick about the whole situation when I go to work next, on tuesday. If they don't do anything about it, as my jchan put it, "thanks ac moore for paying for my college education!!"

I seriously wondering if they'll be able to find who did this. If the assistant manager still has the note from my locker, I'm gonna ask for it back and make some copies for 'evidence.' And when I found the note, there were 2 people already in the break room = witnesses.

Secondly, good news everybody! I did get the painting class I wanted for this semester. The prof that was originally teaching the class had to take emergency sick leave, so they wound up splitting the class into 2 sections (originally, there was advanced painting and senior seminar painting in the same room at the same time- now the 2 separate classes are in separate places. it makes alot more sense if you ask me), so magically.... there was room for me!! It looks like someone may have lifted (see; STOLE) a couple paintings of mine I left in the room from a semester past tho let's hope maybe they were just moved somewhere else.

And on a stupid note~ my brother, who took my playstation AV cord when he went back to college, was actually arguing with me when I told him he had to pay me for it. He had been using my av cord the whole summer while he was home (I had bought it last semester to use the old PSX while he had the PS2 at his dorm). Then when he went back about 2 weeks ago, took my cord without saying a thing. He basically stole my cord

He came home for one nite on friday since he had work on Sat. morning, and when I told him he owed me 12$ for the cord he goes "why do i have to pay for my own cord?"
I tell him, "cuz you couldn't find yours, so you TOOK mine."
"well where's my cord??"
me: "I don't know. I'm not responsible for your things. You've been using the cord I bought all summer, then just took it with you."
"where's MY cord??" (he says this like 3 or 4 times)
me: "I don't know- maybe your dorm buddies have it, or it's packed away somewhere. But in any case, you either give my cord back, or pay me for it." (especially since by now I bought a 2nd AV cord, tho this one was much cheaper).

Those of you who read my last journal :[link] know that I've been a lil annoyed with the people at my work as of late. Last time it was my manager, this time it's another employee. Problem is, I don't know WHO.

Incident one, a couple months ago~
A fellow co-worker brought in a cake she'd made and left it in the break room for any of us to have. She brought in said cake just as I was about to start my shift. Knowing how quickly unclaimed food disappears in the break room, I cut myself a small piece, wrote my name on the paper plate, and set it off the side.

I come back to the break room a couple hours later, ready to have my cake. The first bite I take, I notice something's wrong. The cake tastes horrible!! This was odd since I knew this girl brought in good cakes before, so what was wrong with this one??

The answer: Someone had poured SALT all over my piece of cake. Only my piece. The rest of the cake on the platter was fine. When I looked at the cake in the light more closely, i could see the salt crystals there, all over the frosting, and scattered about the plate. I scraped off what I could, and took a bit more from the remaining cake since I had a terrible taste in my mouth as you could imagine x_x (and I like salty food!! but not salty cake....)

I went to one of the managers the next day and told him, but nothing was ever done about it, since nobody knew who did it, or wasn't gonna say anything about it anyway. I'm guessing it was intentional, since if it was an accident, I'd think someone could just say, 'oh sorry i tipped over the salt shaker by mistake.' But no, the salt was all over my cake, all over the TOP of the cake...

Incident two, less than 2 weeks ago
My water bottle in the fridge disappears. The fridge in the break room is rarely cleaned, AND my bottle had my name on it. The warning sheet on the fridge door states all unmarked bottles and containers are discarded each week. This doesn't always happen, but that's besides the point.

A bottle of water is not going to spoil or stink up the fridge. Doesn't even make a mess~ i screw the cap on tight. Spilled water isn't exactly difficult to clean up either. I can only expect again, that someone just did this to annoy me.

Incident three, today
I come into work after my second day of school. I clock in and head to my locker to put away my purse and change my shoes. Upon approaching my locker, I find it not in the same condition I left it on Sat. evening when I worked last.

Firstly~ someone pulled off the lil gold jingle bell I hung on the vent of the locker with a bent up paper clip. It had been pulled off and throw into the nearby dusty corner. Secondly, the hello kitty sticker next to my locker number had been peeled off, or at least the person tried to. It was half curled up, then was scribbled all over with black marker. The marker was still wet, so it wiped off fairly easily (it was only a crayola).

Now tell me, what was the point of doing such a thing, other that simply to piss me off??? I don't think that little sticker was offending or bothering anyone (it's about the size of a quarter, not any bigger). Nor was the bell doing anything. It barely even makes a sound when I open/close the locker.

If that wasn't enough, when I came back to take my break later, I discovered my 2nd bottle of water in the fridge was gone. I had marked directly on the bottle "DO NOT THROW OUT!" and my name. I couldn't find it anywhere in the room, and the garbage can was too full (and yucky) to look in. It wasn't worth the effort.

I wrote up on the dry-erase board in the break room "Whoever messed with locker 61, GET A LIFE!!!" and someone had later added a face below my writing. So the person that's messing with me was apparently there that nite (possibly, or it could've just been someone being an ass).

*SIGH*
This is really getting annoying now~ I'm gonna talk to one of my managers again tomorrow and rehash the story again. I didn't care so much about the water bottle, but 2 gone now, AND my locker screwed with. Someone seems to have something against me. Everyone working there is 18 and older~ supposedly adults. If someone has a problem with me they should come out and say it, not play pranks and act like an a$$hole, like some grade school kid.

On a mini-rant, I am sick of my job. My manager can be such a dick sometimes. He thinks it's funny to say "Hey you sleeping over there?" if he happens to see you for a second not working/doing something while he's around. He does this to me alot, but it's doubly annoying when he says that when I AM doing work. My section at the store has 100s of bottles of paint to keep in order- it can take a half hour+ to do if it's really messy.

I can be standing there, actively moving and straightening my umpteenth bottle and he'll still ask "Hey you sleeping back here??"
I've always wanted to say "Well I can't if you keep bugging me!"

On Saturday, he did said his favorite phrase while I was working at register- there happened to be a lull in the customers at that moment so I was just standing there, waiting for anyone to get in line. He steps right next to me and uses those damned words again, and this time WAVES HIS HAND IN FRONT OF MY FACE. Good gawd I wanted to slug him in the face.

Then he notices some people waiting in line for the girl at register diagonal to me, and calls them over so I can wait on them (since I had no-one in my area). Then he tells me "When there's customers waiting, you can go ahead and call them over so they don't have to wait." As if it was something I didn;t know.

But, how am I supposed to see customers, when his fat head is standing in front of me?! Most of you know I'm vertically challenged like Edo-chan, so it's not exactly easy for me to see around a 6foot+ tall man.

He also always asks me "Do you know how to _______" (fill in blank with mindlessly easy task)
And I always want to remind him, "Yes I've been here over a friggin YEAR, you dumbass, I think i know how to _______"
Every time he tells me to make labels/tags for products, or signs for sales, he almost ALWAYS will ask if I know how to do it. Both of those I learned within my first week of working there, back in June last summer.

THis should be my last semester of school, so soon I will be searching for a real job, so I keep telling myself that in a year, AC Moore will just be a memory, as long as everything goes as planned...

I hate to sound like a whiny DAperson, but I think I'm gonna take a hiatus from here for a while. Looking around some of the popular DA people and what's got the most faves,comments, etc... I know it's only numbers, but it's so discouraging. =/

There are kids here that get more views than me since they have ultra-sugary anime art that's just bright colors and sparkles and big eyes and no real... art to it-- and this stuff beats out my art like 10 to 1 or MORE in some cases. They have computer programs to make stuff look fancy. If they had to do something for real without all those filters and stuff, I doubt many of them could do it. I know I have the big eyes and sparkles too at times, but I like to think my pics have a bit more maturity to them... I dunno. It just really annoys me that my hard work is overlooked and kids' stuff (with little artistic merit) is revered and faved like crazy.

I know it's just numbers but damn...

There are people on this site that leave maybe 10 comments a year and get 100s on a pic that doesn't even have proper anatomy. Oiy. I know my anatomy's not perfect, but it looks a lot better than some of the stuff I see faved. I work hard on my pics- I take lots of time and effort, but nobody seems to care.

I'm sick of commenting and getting barely anything back, and I'm sick of being overlooked. Sorry for seeming whiny, but like I said, it can be discouraging, and hence I'll be taking a break from DA. Maybe I'm just tired from the heat...

Thanks everyone for their support for my gramma in the last entry. She's home from the hospital now, and will be out of work for quite awhile. At least thru june, and probably thru july as well. She'll be getting disability pay tho, at least. She definitely needs that since she's her own sole financial supporter. She seems to be in good spirits, tho she's still gotta go back for more routines to clear up the issues she has. It doesn't seem too bad, overall ^^

The trip to Anime North went off without a hitch, tho I didn't buy nearly as much as I usually do. Came back with almost 70$ canadian O.o Can always save it for next year, or for a trip to chinatown or something. On the first day there, while waiting like 40mins in line for pre-reg- A group of almost 6 or 7 people just ran from the sidelines and cut straight to the reg desk without waiting in line at all- and the ppl at the reg. desk didn't say a word!! I shouted out "NO CUTTING!!" and they looked back at me but didn't do anything. Me and jchan were like 2nd next to finally sign in, so we were RIGHT there when they ran in like that. What a load of BS. When we informed the guys at the desk, he told us "Oh, they were part of a group and some of them had already signed in."

What the hell!? When we got in line, we saw someone we knew from anime club back in the states- and she was next in line to sign in. Did we cut ahead and say "oh we're with her." ??? No. We waited like we were supposed to, and then this group of a$$holes just walks up like they own the place and get to sign in without waiting a single minute! That was only one of the con's organization problems. Why they didn't have con security staff right up front by the tables is beyond me....

Anyway~~ I think my favorite buy from the con is a big Edward Elric plushy ^^ His head is huge :B and he's got lil floppy legs. I got him on the last day just minutes before we were getting ready to leave. I dunno if they had them earlier in the weekend, but I hadnt seen one until then, so I'm glad I got him

The drive to canada wasn't too bad, save for some construction-related slowness on the way up at different intervals. And there was that one girl that tried to merge lanes, straight into the side of my car x_x "I didn't have to pee a minute a go, but I do now!!!" were my words directly following that incident (well, after several profanities and horn blowing at the girl). I'm glad that I knew how to use my cruise control, cuz my feet and legs were getting tired @_@

Lastly, it's way too WARM the past couple days, and it's gonna be warmer later in the week combined with thunderstorms which = humidity which = frizz city for my hair x_x

Oh, and nobody on DA noticed my birthday last tuesday even tho it's posted right there in my ID No party for me.

I was up til almost 3am last nite writing a 9page ethics paper, and then had to haul my arse outta bed at 7:30. We weren't even having an actual class this morning either x_x He coulda told us that... I would've been able to sleep an extra hour or so... we just turned in the paper and filled in a 'teacher evaluation' then left.

I hung out in the book store and read Fullmetal Alchemist vol.1 until my next class It's almost the same as the anime so far, with a few minor differences. Ed looks more sexier in the anime

my Jchan has happily got a new job which he starts this coming monday, where he'll get twice what he used to get paid. He told me he plans to buy me one of those IPEX bras from victoria's secret since he can afford it now (my size costs close to 50$US)~ (even tho I told him he didnt have to!)

I'm almost done with school for the semester~ got about one month left... during such time I have to write another 8page ethics paper, decide what it will be and make my final drawing project, and take whatever exams I have left. There's an extra credit thingy in there for art history to go to the art museum that's right across the street from school, but all the pieces we were supposed to find have been taken down So I think the prof's gonna make a new one... I would hope so at least~

I still can't figure out how to post a picture here x_x (meaning in my journal). I used the code from the faqs and just didn't do something right, even tho I copied pasted everything I thought I needed... still wondering if I should sign up to be a beta tester too...?
Since I couldn't figure out the picture code thingy, I'll submit the oekaki pic I was tryin to put in here, just since I'm sick of seeing my desktop as my latest work

Anyhoo, the wedding was nice, albeit quite short. All the family weddings I've been to have always lasted forever, with receptions going into the AM hours. Not this wedding! The bride's family was southern baptist, and the grandparents were adamant that there be no alcohol at the reception. And there was no alcohol at the reception...

Now, I'm not a drinker myself, but i think I speak truth when i say that alot of people are gonna expect to drink at a wedding reception. This was probably a contributing factor to a good portion of the guests bailing out before 8pm @_@ By 9, the bride and groom were starting to pack up and say their good-byes and thank-yous. They left the hotel/banquet where the reception had been, while the remaining guests blew bubbles at them (instead of throwing rice, which is messy)- it looked really pretty

By 9:30, me and jchan were back in the hotel room (And no, we didn't get to share a room :B I had an adjoined room with he and his parents-- the kind with a door between the 2 rooms so you don't have to go out in the hall) There, he had the fun task of removing all the bobby pins from my hair 'up-do' as the salon called it :B All 19 of them. I later learned this was nothing compared to the bride, who had 100 pins in her hair x_x; I can't imagine how long that took (to get them in OR out!! or how heavy it was)!

~I may post photos of myself and jchan, i dunno... I may scare off my watchers.~

It seems to be almost over tho, luckily, but I feel so tired the past few days. My not even 5hour work shift tonite felt soooooooooooo long, and my feet weighed way too much whenever I had to walk somewhere. And of course when I got called to register, the first person I got in line wanted to use like 5 coupons. She must've done it before, since she had her daughters put just one item on the counter, have me scan it and total it, pay me(which was a charge every time but one of the 5, even tho I saw in her wallet she had PLENTY of cash), then repeat the process.

By the 3rd coupon, I told her "You know, it's only one coupon per person. I could really get in trouble for doing this." Which is partially true, especially since she was charging everything (so her name and card number were in the computer, and on all the receipts). Most credit card companies, I've heard, will charge you a service fee when you charge something that's less than like 10$. The most exensive item this woman used a coupon on was 5.99$. So do the math and figure out how many of her totals were less than 10$. (all of them, save one) She'll probly have to pay more in service charges than she saved with the coupons. Some people are so unbelievably cheap it just boggles the mind.

And, nobody helped me with the doujin situation from last entry, but that didn't really surprise me. Until I become super-popular like some other certain ppl on this site (which I know is unlikely to happen), I guess I shouldn't expect any help.
