so yeah i went to an artist meet yesterday~ i was invited by billies and yessss it was very awesome meeting people. it was kind of last minute on my plans so i ended up going an hour early. i walked around for a bit and then billies, m00f, and nozo came around the same time... then later don and usa arrived, and cos last!

everyone's all soft and cute, wtf haha. esp don and usa, they look pedo-able. but it was cool, everyone was around the same age. but i loved the variety -- some people were so tall and some people were all cuddly and small! billies and i stood in the middle

we drew each other stuff and it was fun talking for what we did. blahh i feel like i didn't talk enough but yeah. i'll post up pictures of the stuff i received later! they're so awesome *u* they make my tiny sketchbook all spiffed up haha thanks everyone! i felt all inadequate because everyone has such fine lines and mine's all like... chicken scratch!

i loved the food sharing with billies, listening in on the rapid japanese convo between nozo and usa and don, answering random questions from cos, awkward eye contact with m00ffin... haha

overall it was fun, and thanks for inviting me! hope we do it again~

DAMMIT ANIME EXPO WAS AWESOME
not the con itself actually, but the PEOPLE OH GAD
so i'm going to type up a con report here FOR THE MEMORIES

so this is my first 4-day experience at AX. and though it was tiring and i spent most of my time at artist alley, it was truly amazing!

i stayed at

's sister's apartment with

and vel, and omg they are so fun and so amazing. it was fun meeting all the roommates in there too; everyone was so chill, i just wish i had more time to talk to them. i also got to see a pigeon pooping game which is the most epic game i've seen in a while lmao.

for ax, i hung out with lychi most of the time! haha she's so funnaaay 8) i kept picking on her and she kept telling me "NO!" like a little vicious squirrel hehe

but yeah. artist alley was awesome as well. i did small commissions at the side of lychi's table, but like a retard i didn't even take pictures of my commissions and i even sold my samples (one of which i liked) for $4 total 'cause the guy caught me off guard orz. oh well, i just hope all my pictures are in good hands, and that the commissioners like them, because i truly enjoyed doing all of them though i had difficulty on some (and had to turn down others 'cause i didn't know the characters well enough). also, one person didn't pick his up.

it sucked that artist alley/exhibit hall went up to only 6pm. i would've wanted more time for commissions, to explore, to meet more people, etc. it also felt like the con kind of died afterwards; i don't know.

but the people i did get to meet. OMG LOVE YOU ALL. i sat next to amazing people; the people that i hung around with the most were

and of course lychiface. they were all so very nice and funny and amazing to hang out with. i helped sell for some while they were gone, and it was interesting to see how many people mistake me as them. 8D

doing customer service/sales kind of work was actually fun for me as well; i wish i could have looked up more from my commissions and interacted more. it's a shame i didn't have like prints or anything to trade; i felt bad yet superbly happy when people kept offering me arts - thank you

i want to do so many things! i want to live life without regrets, that if someone were to ask me if i could reverse time would i do it, i would say no. it's so hard though sometimes!

i want to be able to play games and chill, i want to draw like a madman and love every single moment of it, i want to cram myself with knowledge that may or may not be useful without test scores looming in the horizon, i want to experience everything, i want to work hard and please, i want to get to meet everyone and learn their specialties and quirks, even if it's over a game or pchat or comments on deviantart. oh and i SO WISH SO WISH i could tell everyone how unique and special they are it's not even funny, people think they have nothing on them but even with a person i don't know much, good sides of them pop out to me like giant zits. too bad there is so little time, and i feel ashamed that i haven't tried harder to get to know so many amazing people over deviantart. moreso, i hate being on a lower tier on dA popularity ladder, since i feel that bars me from speaking better with the more well known people? i don't know :/ like i need to improve my art to be friends with them? haha

people say responsibilities and things that must be done, but i want to be able to create my image and self at my own pace. our world is so restricted!

also, how are people able to be so disgusting but beautiful at the same time? i dread life when i hear and see the horrible things people do but when i see the things that humans create, i begin to love humanity. browsing through deviantart really makes me love people and the beauty that is birthed from their hands.

ONE. i have many phobias.

i'm scared of big, crunchy bugs like cockroaches and crickets. surprisingly, i'm not scared of spiders. i'm also scared of heights. i always have dreams of falling off places.

(even sliding off earth - yes, earth. gravity failed me) and i start freaking out in closed spaces with no ventilation. i'm fine until i notice that there's no ventilation. then it's doom. oh, and i'm scared of steep stairs. i have to go one step at a time! like, get both my feet on EACH step before proceeding onto the next one. ._. i'm sure i have more fears but those are my mains.

TWO. i've been hospitalized for the first time ever yesterday.

well, i haven't been in an actual hospital bed with an IV stuck in me until yesterday. i had these crazy stomach pains for several days in my lower to right stomach area so i went to one doctor and they told me i had 90% of having appendicitis so i went to the ER of a bigger hospital and i had to stay there for hours and hours. ._. they were pretty sure i had it too because my white blood cell count was high and some other checks but then the ct scan showed that my appendix was okay. (i avoided what would have been my first surgery ever. i've never broken a bone or had surgery before.) i also had an ovarian cyst so that might be what's causing the pain but they weren't sure so they let me go with some long packet of info/symptoms to watch for. so i had to live a day more with the pain, and then i went to yet another doctor that sent me off the to pharmacist to get some medicines to take and to see if i get any better. yeah. OMG and before i went to any doctors, my grandma gave me some crazy medicines. some really powerful smelling medicines that look like rabbit droppings, a regular pill, this "refreshing chinese herbs drink" called gas hwal-myung-su, A SPOONFUL OF POWDERED CHARCOAL, and etc. etc. IT SUCKED. my stomach still hurts.

THREE. i might have some sort of personality disorder or whatnot. i don't know what it is.

like, i get moodswings a LOT. i guess it's not really moodswings but my way of thinking tends to drastically switch around. and when i think about it later, i'm like, 'was that really me thinking that?' lol. seriously. like one moment i could be plotting murder and the next i'll be thinking of fields of flowers and cottages and then contemplating about some intellectual thing like stocks and finances. ._. is there a disorder like that?

FOUR. I LOVE NOODLES. YES YES.

flour noodles, though. ramen, ramyun, udon, calgooksu, fettuccine alfredo, pastapasta... i guess i like stuff made by flour more than rice. (i like rice too though) i also like chocolate. yummyumm.

FIVE. when i was little, i was the fattest kid around.

one of my cousins was really skinny and i was super fat so my family would buy him the regular milk and me the lowfat milk. but i would drink the regular and he would drink the lowfat. lol, i was so fat and round. i look at my baby pictures and my cheeks always pushed my lips to fishlips. now i'm skinny, so my grandma speculates that my brother hit me around so much that all my fat went out of me.

SIX. i love to read and write. suckily, but still.

i bet only like three of you knew that LOL. sounds so nerdy, but seriously, i've gone through two books in four days. (faster rate than i've ever had during school days. i don't think i read more than two books properly during the whole school YEAR. see what school does to you?) oh, and i used to do a lot of writing for pleasure. i don't do much anymore besides... essays. ._. lol but i won't link you to my old ffnet for my own dignity

SEVEN. i had a childhood in anime and manga.

before i even knew those terms. so it's probably inevitable that i like both to these days. my first animes included: sailormoon, legendary brave dagarn, slayers, magic knight rayearth, wedding peach, gulliver's travels, dragon quest dai, astroboy... did anyone live in korea a long time ago?! 1. i have like the most fluctuating personality/moods/thoughts EVER. i contradict myself constantly and sometimes i scare myself HAHA i think i might be insane?! (one time i ranted out my thoughts on a Q&A site randomly and many people told me i should go see a doctor LOL)
2. if i had one superpower it would be to manipulate time without any negative side effects (like getting old while everyone else is stopped). or to counter that aging thing, i would also get a fairly large timeless box/designated room that only i could access where i could put in things. and i could put in things from the future, rewind time, make it so that my memories are still retained, but anything that happened to my body would be restored back to whenever.

and if i ever steal anything, that person would still have that item in the present. HAHA i elaborated so much. c'mon genie, where are you?
3. i have a very diverse/interesting family. they remind me of a comedic korean drama sometimes since our characters contrast so much/there are some funny situations/there's also drama. i think i will make some comics about the situations i've been in some day.
4. i wish i was an awesome writer on top of being an awesome artist.
5. i still don't have a set art style. it changes all the time. sobs
6. i love languages, i would learn all the languages of the world if i had the time. i think if i had more time i would have more patience, too. and maybe i would have more focus and dedication in every small thing i do. gahhh being rushed sucks.
7. i love music, and i listen to countless genres. but i rarely ever know song titles and artists names since i listen to online radios most of the time (too little space on my computer to store music.)
8. i always try to do as much as i can; sometimes i think i overdo things but other time i feel i don't do enough? goodness, i'm so wishy-washy.

it's quite exciting to discover so much talent all around. kind of makes you wanna make friends, but i don't wanna be all creepy like "OMg LOL I LIVE AROUND U LETZ B FRENDZzz". i mean... would that be creepy if i commented them in a subtler way being like 'oh, cool! i live around you! +watch!"?

then again i'm just like "orz if i comment one, then i would wanna comment everyone and probably some of them are friends with each other, and i'll be like the creep that comments everyone in this area. LAWL.

hmm, anyway, i'm here to rant a little/lot... about something i usually don't talk about. you don't have to read this, but... i wonder if anyone else ever had this issue?

so, i rarely ever show my artworks to my family. when i was young, i remembered showing them something, and they said it was 'too dark' (it wasn't even anything 'dark' as in the mood, but the colors were dark blue, you know... dim...), that i should draw 'happy things like mickey mouse', 'use brighter colors' and so on so forth.

i guess that affected me more than it should have. so when i started drawing on the computer, i would close my room before drawing, and like minimize photoshop and stuff whenever somebody walked in. like i wasn't supposed to be drawing or something. especially anything of the anime/cartoon/comic/manga/manhwa variety sort; heck, anything actually. my family only liked bright bright landscapes is what i assumed, so i felt like i shouldn't be drawing anything that wasn't bright at all. the WORSE part is that, i knew my grandpa didn't really approve of japanese things (because he's lived through when japan and korea fought; there were lots of war crimes done from japan when it was going on... treated like dirt, murdered in gruesome ways, etc. as a result he also learned japanese, but he held a grudge...) and guess WHAT? i drew animu! i watched animu! for shame, me. so when i viewed/watched/drew anything of the sort, i felt like i could not be caught.

it's kind of sad. i think the only person i showed my artwork to a little more than the others was my brother, who actually helped me through and critiqued. but that's rare too... and i think the only piece i ever gave (after the whole 'it's not bright enough!' incident) to any of my family members was to my dad, this one watercolor of a fruit bowl, which i deemed bright enough.

so i generally don't show my art to my family. and because closing my door is such a habit (even when i browse dA i would just close it) my family has been on my case about shutting my room too much, since there would be no ventilation, etcetc. ...oohcrap my door is closed again.

okay, it's open now. anyway, isn't it strange? i grew up feeling my art was something not to show my family, and i thought that was perfectly normal, until i met friends/read dA's/etc. of people's mom's critiquing their work. an outrageous concept! it was really weird.

yeah, but since i was little, i was forced a couple times to show my artwork, due to getting them looked over by art people that my grandma knew... so i'd go show them artworks, and my grandma would be sitting by, seeing these artworks for the first time.

my uncle didn't know that i even was into art, until he saw one of my sketches on my desk, and he was like 'woah! you draw? you draw pretty good!' and so on. and when i was cging one time, my cousin walked in and was all surprised that i drew something other than stick figures. ...yeah. (i interact lots and lots with my uncle, living with my cousin and grandparents, so it's a pretty big deal. lol my secret artist life?!)

well anyway, my grandpa had mellowed down on his japanese hating thing... heck, he watches j-tv shows sometimes, teaches me some japanese even, and yet... yet i still find it hard to leave my door open while i view dA, watch anime, or draw?! i mean, okay, maybe not so much anime anymore, but still.

anyway, the reason i wrote all of this was because my grandma walked into my room as i was pchatting. lol. i thought i would at be least not so surprised anymore if someone came into my room, but i seriously jumped, and quickly minimized the window. then i double checked if my grandma would have been able to see the p... ]]> ~toiletseat WHAT? duuuude i wanna improve in art so much! well i know for sure my family's not gonna let me go into art since they're investing in me for like academic colleges. and i don't think i'm gonna complain against them... for various reasons. so i'm probably gonna end up in a non-art major... and career. but that's okay! does not mean i'm giving up on art. i love love art, it's like my best friend.

ups and downs but we stick together in the end. so i'm gonna pursue art avidly as a hobby in the very least. i just probably won't be able to invest as much time in the future in it as i wanted to. but that's okay. i still want to improve lots, and now it isn't as much as a 'need' to improve so i could work on art at my own pace...

and i have no idea why i'm listening to so much hip hop these days. ugh i disgust myself with so much crappy mainstream.

anyway, anyone have any nice manhwa recs? or manga, even, but i feel like i already read all the good ones (that have at least a couple volumes out.) i know i shouldn't be wasting my time on them but hecks reading them is nice relaxation.

yeah what the heck.

on the science end...
though i do enjoy it (and love biology) i haven't found a career that would suit me yet. and without me spending the same number of years in college as a doctor. D;

but i know my family wants me to go into science. and i know it's more of a 'secure' thing than art.

but on the art end...
i know i'll enjoy myself more. especially because school wouldn't be so stressing!! still, i know it's expensive to start off and i might not have a secure anything. and plus i know my art skills aren't that great. (haha my grandpa was like 'you're never gonna get anywhere with that level of art, you should have started when you were in elementary, yadayada' but OMG how was i supposed to draw anything but pokemans in elementary school)

of course if i choose art, i'm gonna practice and practice and draw everyday and HAVE FUN. ;; but i don't like burdening my family/using lots of money/and it's something that maybe only my brother will support me in.

guh i don't know. opinions?

1. my art is so very spontaneous. my style bounces all over the place, and i really hate that. so i'm trying my best to settle on a style by sketching/doodling like madddd, to develop a style that i love and improve on that before i try to move onto anything else.

2. where i first began art. hmm... must have been sailormoon. i used to get these trace papers and traced pictures off of coloring books all the time. i used to be an ADDICT of tracing. i traced pokemon, digimon, everythinggg. it was fun and it looked like i drew well. lol. xP

3. i suck at backgrounds. i'm trying to improve, really. because i really LOVE great backgrounds on pictures, especially landscape art. i hope one day i'll be able to do amazing backgrounds. (: (hopehope)

4. i used to only draw girls. now it's 10% guy 20% girl 70% girly guy. haha. -shot-

5. i constantly rip out sketches from my sketchbook because i'm never satisfied. now i'm trying to keep myself from doing that.

6. i'm terrible with colors. seriously. my color choices are so , so very limited because otherwise it looks like crap. so i really really look up to those who could use insane colors, bright colors, clashing colors, many many colors and make it look NICE.

7. i love detailed work. too bad i have no patience to draw them. and even if i do, the details don't come out nice at all. D:

8. i have a really shaky hand. it might be because i grip my pencil weirdly. but that makes my lines shaky, and i have to go sketchy for it not to look wobbly.

9. i wish i could do good black and white pictures. you know, the ones that have shading in black and rest in white... yeah. and lineless art. that would be sweet.

10. i'm a fan of blank space. negative space. whatever it's called. but that's terrible since i love backgrounds as well ;;

OKAY SO I WENT TO THIS TOFU FESTIVAL IN LA~ it was pretty fun. i was working most of the time but there were cool shirts. haha. and the parade was awesome in some parts but too long.

i saw lots of cosplayers around. too bad the only closeup picture i got was at the anime store and it came out a bit blurry.

the cosplayer peoples did the harehareyukai dance for the parade. it was quite funny because of that one video

linked once LOL. nerds around the world~ and grimmjow was swordfighting with warrior!darth vader (he had this weird looking thing on his helmet i think it was some armor type thing, thus i call him warrior)

haha i thought i improved a lot but i realized i really didn't. i fixed like a couple of anatomical problems, but that's it! it's like i didn't improve at all.

the sadder thing is, i think i had MORE artistic sense four years ago than right now.

BUT FIRST:
man, i realized i have like no patience. even in art i can't keep working on the same piece over like thirty minutes. i have to do something else and then come back to later. and i have like no consistency lol. i'm trying to find an art/coloring style that i enjoy doing and it comes out decent looking at the same time, but i'm having a hard time. i wish i could be like the people who could speedsketch/speedpaint/speedcolor and make it still look nice. when i do it it looks like crap kekee.
ANYWAY.

i have a lot of random stuff in progress, so i'm gonna keep track of them here. (: actually, i'm just going to list the things i WANT to do, because i have a lot of random sketches but i don't think i'll ever finish them.
