The true methods of my genius madness are so underrated and very misunderstood. So let me go back and pull pieces out of my previous journals so that the whole lot of you will understand why it frustrates me to no end. (Keep in the mind that the following is for those that 1) Judge me based on one journal entry alone. 2) Have decided to Watch me recently and should regret it now. 3) Are so oblivious to the fact that no matter how many times I have to explain to them, they STILL do not understand.)

So, let's go to... Hmm, let's see.... For starters:

To me, when I favorite something, I'd at least like to keep it up for a week so to give the artist real exposure. As for pageviews and crap like that, I couldn't care less. I generate most of my comments from my friends to which I'm most appreciative for. I'd much rather hear their input than some disregarding person who won't acknowledge (and I feel like I'm repeating myself for the millionth time) the hard work and effort put into something. I, among other artist, don't sit on our asses for five to eight hours straight just to get a bunch of favorites that outweigh the comments we receive.

Let's see, that's the fifth time I've actually copied this from one of my previous journals. Mostly just to get the point across. And I will continue to post it until it gets drilled INTO YOUR BRAINS. It gets really tiring, but if I must stress myself out, then I will do it.

It seems no matter how hard I try, I just can't get my point across. I do not want favorites. I mean, I would expect that people who DevWatch me would actually read my journal and learn of the frustration that it gives me. Because it really does make me angry. Especially after hearing the same excuse from ten different people. Is it legit? Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know and I don't care.

But you want to know what it's really about?

It's about people. Being lazy. Who think that just because they favorite something of mine or anyone else's, we'll go look at their galleries and thank them, then make some legit comment which we really don't mean. Newsflash: NOT FOR ME, BUDDY. DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOU.

So, cheerfully, I hope you all now understand why I absolutely hate some of your guts. And I know that a lot of you do it out of spite just to piss me off, and you will burn in hell for your insolence.

I tend to give up on a lot of things too easily and too quickly. Most of it is people though. And my extreme disgust for those outside of the circle. Well, as they say, what comes around goes around.

Because of this slump and discontentiveness, I haven't been able to draw otherwise. I lack all functioning and necessary brainwork because I've spent so much of it trying to help or do things for others. Seventy percent of the time receiving nothing in return, but that is my nature. To suffer for their cause so that they might achieve a greatness I sacrificed my time and efforts for and may never know. Even now I cannot plot or scheme against my next selection of victims because there aren't any left. And with that, I travel down to my lair and sit and ponder about what to do next. I will surely die from boredom before old age or lung cancer.

Reading is a thing of the past. As I was highly disappointed with Gaston Leroux's PotO, I cannot even think of curling up in my chair to read anymore Terry Brooks because the thought of having another novel in my hand which may turn to be sour as well... kills me. And yes, the third installment of this book series has turned to be uneventful and predictible which is why I may just skip it and read the last one. Did I mention that I don't fancy elves and this particular book is about them?

As for drawing, well, I'll be lucky enough to get this cheap ass commission out from under before I hear another whining note from my client who I dislike as I work with him and find myself working with him more and more and I think it is his doing. I should go straight to my manager, eh? I have. And NOTHING has been done about it thus far. Alas, I have failed again.

Hopefully with school starting next week, I will be able to forget about all this unnecessary shit and get on with my life. But I think I might have to hurt a few people before then.

I only look forward to this weekend. Hopefully something good will come from it. But at the rate things have been falling, I highly doubt that.

I've recently had a wallpaper taken down. Not that it bothers me much, but upon reading the note I received from the staff, I went over to the DA Help Desk and did not find the information I was looking for. That didn't bother me much either, but the main point is that I used images from a game, edited them (but not recreate) nor violate or claim that images were mine. Obviously, this was, in terms, violation of the DA copyright rules.

What puzzles me the most is upon browsing the Wallpaper>Games section, I found loads of anime/game related wallpapers that 1) violated the copyright TOS, and 2) put in the wrong section as per the description at the bottom of the Wallpaper Submittance section: Also note, that since there is no Anime / Anthro gallery in the wallpaper section any more, all Anime / Anthro wallpapers should be submitted into an appropriate gallery in the Digital Art or Traditional Art sections. Images from the Sonic series, FF: Advent Children and various other images used in games and anime are scattered throughout the section. Before submitting my wallpaper, I monitored the activity to see if some or all were removed for violations. Some were, others weren't.

I find it frustrating because there's something not right going on. I understand that the staff can't fully filter out the sections as members continuously violate the rules, but something needs to be cleared up here. If two submitted pieces are in violation, you can't just blame one and not the other. On that note, I'd rather actually hear from a staff member with a legit answer rather than "See the Help Desk." Again, it didn't answer my questions, so I'm hoping someone else will.

While I got a reasonable and appropriate response from the staff/mods, I've come to the conclusion that it's really not necessarily their fault. What it generally is are the members of DA reporting these "violations." By members, I mean people just like you and I. What bothers me is while none of these others wallpapers are taken down, it's blantly obvious as to why: fandom.

It almost makes me want to go on a "Report the Violation!" Spree and I'm almost enticed to do it, but by doing so, this also makes me the bad person. Well, yaes, I can be the bad person at times, but I don't anticipate on being that much of an asshole.

I have some ideas working in my head for friends of mine (those including you types that Watch/Comment/Speak to on a regular basis thing) that you might find workable. And it would be out of DA's jurisdiction. But it's something. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but I will soon and once I get this "thing" on the road, I will let you all know.

In the meantime, if you see something in violation to the TOS, don't hesitant to bring it to their attention or rather "knock the shit down." >

I created a character over the summer, inspired Thief: Deadly Shadows. Her name is Alyssa Stein. Some of you may know her as "Guilty." She's an assassin. She's also a former Pagan. She has feelings, in fact, she had a son who was brutally slaughtered. She avenged his death. Content with her skills. She's capable of loving, sacrifice, and taking care of others. Her best friend is Pyra K. Atama. She likes to travel, enjoys nature, and loves swimming. She also likes the winter and snow. True she does kill for money. It's her job after all. But does that make her evil? Not necessarily.

What Guilty hates is assumption. Just like me.

I hate people who assume what my characters are like just by looking at one of their pictures. Guilty is scattered throughout my gallery, and while she's had some changes, it's obvious as to who has read about her and those who have not. It makes me upset that these people can't take two seconds of their life to actually get to know my characters. So instead "Oh, she's so evil!!" Which isn't true mind you... it should be "Oh, she looks so evil!" Guilty is not evil, man. Just let it go.

I mean, honestly, if I could make comics and awesome mangas like the rest of my friends, I'd do it. Then perhaps you'd get a better understanding about who and what Guilty is really like. But unfortunately I lack that creative skill. So we both luck out.

While DorianWildeGray has shown us some truly awesome work with his SHINSPA and Unknown Journalist, he's also a great inspiration to others. So much that other Deviants are trying to incorporate their ideas and thoughts along with his work. Seriously, how often do you see that happening?

What strikes me as most impressive is his latest cosplay pictures of him as Walter Sullivan from Silent Hill 4 (also one of my favorite SH characters. Whoo.) His photomanipulation skills generate the same eerie look that he's used throughout his other art. But what I found truly inspiring is that by using himself in the images, he clearly brings the pictures to life. It's like seeing a real-life Walter coming down the hall and that, my friends, is bloody genius.

So for that, I highly applaud and highly suggest that you all go visit Dorian's gallery for a simply amazing (and somewhat terrifying) trip into what may just be a real Silent Hill.

You guys win. But to you asshats that think I will visit and DevWatch you just because you favorited a million pieces of my art, think again. I won't do it. Simple as that.

If I could pack up my art and take it to another site (other than my own which no one goes to,) I'd do it. It's nothing against DA. I like DA. It's the obsessive complusive assholes that just ruin it for me. And I've been here... what.. for two years now? Up until last year, I was quietly pleased with my progress, happy and content with myself and my art. I had no one to impress aside from the small group of friends that I had. Hell, I even did weekly updates and took pride in the Silent Hill Club.

Do I do that now? Unfortunately, no.

The friends who I gladly swap comments and IMs with, who appreciate critiques and friendly advice... the people that know me for who I really am. They never assume to know me or judge me. Real, devoted and understandable artist will leave comments and/or critiques without hesitation or problem.

I hope a whole lot of people will remove me from their list.

It's not the sympathy that I want. It's not the pain that I want to fling around like shit. I just wish some people wouldn't take advantage of their parents so much because you never know when you're going to lose them. In some situations, your mum or dad is the only person you may have left. I left my mum to live on my own for a while (with a group of horrible people, mind you.) And while Dad lived away, he was always there for me. Just like he is now. Maybe in photographs, maybe in memories. The only things left I have. An old cowboy hat with pins, a leather jacket, glasses, comb, and some pictures in an album mum keeps now.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a white room with no windows or doors and all I have left are these things left behind for me. Dad struggled so much to make our lives better when he was really suffering inside. This room I'm in makes me suffer. I feel trapped. Like no one understands and it's really true. A lot of people don't. Like most, they really don't care. I don't care if they don't. In my white room, I have these remains, these treasure left for me. All that's left of my father who resides in a red marble urn. And some memories.

Just because you hate your parents doesn't mean you can't love them.

At least I have a candle to burn for on the 31st.

Disclaimer: If I do have a seriously problem with you, I will STRAIGHT OUT tell you. I will IM you. I will Note you. Yes, of course I will try to be as ... gentle as possible... but for the most part, keep in mind that you brought your issues onto yourself.

Words cannot describe how hilariously fun this game is. There is nothing like slamming someone's car along side the road and making them smash right into a pillar. Or driving them off the shoulder and into a lake.

Or even better. Colliding head on into ongoing traffic at a heavy intersection to see how much money in damage you've done. This game, simply put, rocks the hell outta all the other race car games I've played.

And it's not just... a guy game. It's a ROFLMAO kind of game that girls can get into if they need some anger management during their rag times. I mean, aside from racing... you also wrecking.

My favorite car has to be the Assassin Muscle. Fast enough with just the right amount of weight to catch up and best the fuck outta someone.

This game rocks too much.

Hey guys,

I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could help me with. I've submitted fan-art to the site about this time last year, one in particular ([link]) On Friday, I received an e-mail from a Rachel North from FilmOasis.com requesting the usage of my image for the Halo 2 DVD. I've searched up the site to see if it was a legit company or not and apparently they are. According to the email, they found my artwork off HBO. I mean, I'm pretty flattered about this, but also deeply concerned because I, like other illustratos, don't appreciate companies taking our art without our permission. So my main question to you guys is if you know anything about this particular company or if Bungie themselves has anything to do with this. I anticipate on emailing Bungie as well.


Film Oasis is the team making the Halo Bonus DVD that is being bundled with
the Halo 2 Limited Edition. They got your artwork from me; I sent them what
I considered to be the best of the submissions to HBO over the years, and
they narrowed that group down to a reasonable size, for inclusion in a 'Fan
Art' gallery. They're now contacting the artists themselves for permission.

They're not taking ANYTHING without permission - didn't you just say you
got an email from Rachel asking for permission? If you say no, they won't
use it, and your artwork will not be on the DVD. It's that simple.

For those that wanted a Vector tutorial....
I can't really explain how vector works in full detail or how to use it properly in programs such as Flash MX, Freehand 10, or Illustrator. However, I can give you the justified basics of it. (Reminder: This is a bit of a long read, but I hope you find it useful.)

The Basics:
Since Flash doesn't give you the neat tools and filter options like Photoshop, you have to really lay down the basics with yourself and think "I know I will mess up. I can erase it. I -can- do this." Realize that you -will- get fubar mistakes in the program. Everyone artist is different, so there's various ways about doing this. But also remember that it can be erased. It's vital to know this because I know there are some perfectionist out there that try to keep it nice and clean. Flash is messy. It's dirty. And it will wreck havoc on your simple perfectionist mind. But I'm not saying that to scare you. I'm merely giving you a warning that even though Flash is not as complex as Photoshop, and you are dealing with the prime basics of drawing and coloring.

Layer Works:
The good thing is that Flash works with layers just like PS. However, unlike PS layers, you have to learn to Lock and Unlock Flash layers. This can be easily done by hitting the Lock/Unlock icon on the Layer. Locking layers is essential for line art and coloring. Here are some basic steps to help you.

01. Create your sketch drawing (like sketching on an oekaki board) on your first layer.
02. Hit the lock icon and lock this sketch layer.
03. Create another layer (above your sketch layer) and put your official line-art on this layer.
04. Hit the lock icon and lock this Line-Art layer.
05. Create a third layer UNDER your Line-Art layer. At this point, you can now do all your coloring.


Coloring Works:
The best way to work with coloring is to simple use the Color Swatch Menu and go from there. Do not attempt to work on multiple Color Layers because 1) It's hella confusing to remember which layer holds which color 2) There are no Layer options such as Multiply that allows transparency of colors to make them darker. Just pick an over all basic color and color those sections in. When you are finished, decide where your light source will come from, select a darker color from the original and throw in your shades or highlights.


Symbols, Clips, and Buttons:
If you want to make pretty bubbles or something shiney, it's merely a matter of creating an addition layer for them and following the next steps.

01. After creating a layer for your bubbles or pattern, select the oval or box tool. Or import an image to the layer by going to File -> Import. Select your image and put it on the Stage.
02. Click on the new image and hit F8 (Function 8 on your keyboard.) F8 brings up the "Convet to Symbol" menu. Here's the first question: How many of you know what the hell DevWatch and Commenting is really for? It's for telling people that you like and appreciate their art. You make friends this way. You swap art tips. You share comments and thoughts. Hell, and if you're lucky, you friends' journal should have your icon plastered somewhere on it. And that's great. Personally, non-sarcastically, I love my peoples and pals. I enjoy looking at their artwork. They're really great and they've been great friends too.

And now for the ranting part...

Over the past month, I've been getting comments from what seems to be a horde of DA Groupie n00ber fucks:

WHAT THE HELL.

First off, their spelling and punctuation isn't exactly that perfect. I've actually had some trouble reading what the hell they're trying to say.

Secondly... NO. I hate... I absolutely fucking hate these people. A majority of the time, they're nothing more than notebook-paper-sketch-goobers that attempt to get comments on shit they've TRACED from a manga book. How do I know this? Because I practically own the entire collection. I have 21 of the stinking How-To-Draw-Manga books. You traced. I know you trace it. You suck and have NO CREATIVITY. There are some... -some- people that can pull out an image from the book, but worked it so well that you can barely tell it's from one of the books, but y'know something... they have a genius brain that says "Hey, I need to change this around so it doesn't look like something I traced." Hey! Great idea!

Unlike the rest of the people, and you know who are; you make the worst attempts ever, send the link to the rest of your n00b friends so they'll comment and favorite it a thousand times over. After your satisfaction sinks in, you go off to visit someone else's gallery, make a TWO WORD COMMENT and then, like some crazed slave master demand that -I- should go look at your gallery. Me? You're telling me to go look at your shit?

Any decent, normal, regular artist would leave a decent, normal, regular comment. Secondly, they wouldn't SHOVE their gallery in your face. Why? Because they have enough confidence in their work that they don't need petty shameful self-promoting comments pasted on everyone else's stuff.

And that's the problem with DA n00bers. They have no confidence. They're so angst ridden, so horribly depressed like a 90s goth (and this is obvious because when you click on one of their pictures it says something along the lines of "omfg this sucks... i only spent 5 minuts on it") that it's DISGUSTING.

In case you haven't already realized it, DA is not a place for weak-spirited people. If you can't handle the heat of other people being so much better than you, then go the hell away. Spare us your bullshit.

I, for one, love my own art. I think it's the fucking shit. And I say that because I take pride in having a visual, artistic talent. Yes, I realize that there are people better than me and I admire them because they don't give up. I learn from these people in more ways than one. Unlike the rest of the slobbering dope heads that stay up until 3AM crying over the fact that a picture they uploaded two days ago still hasn't gotten any comments.

Take your art, take your paper, and take your pencil and shove it up your ass. The same with your shitty self-loathing comments and gallery-visit-demands.


No. I will NOT look at your gallery unless I feel like it.
No. I will NOT comment on your work because you have no appreciation for it.

Just NO.
