Leaving for a while

I've thought about it for a while and I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna give up the internet for 2-3 months or so. maybe 4. i really don't wanna waste my holidays here basically, and I already am. plus, I don't think I've given up the net that long in a really long time (years), I think it'll be good for me. I'm actually giving my net cable to someone and telling them not to give it back (cuz i honestly can't trust myself) i'm literally addicted and i don't want that anymore.

right now I need to work on myself as a person and an artist. I just wanted to let you guys know in case you'd think i'd carked it or something.

lol okay.. This is gonna be a rant, and don't think it's because of you ~SolidAbyss

Uh okay, so whenever anyone sees my character, riley.. they assume she's a he.. it's happened countless times and it kinda bugs me.

I mean, I guess it's like anything, cats, dogs.. like people when they see someone's dog and it sniffs their hand, and they react with "aww what a cute dog. what breed is HE?" or whatever. we live in a gender specific world, where a character like riley, and the attributes she possesses are considered masculine.. she isn't a pretty little thing that is "feminine", or whatever people consider that to be.

I actually think riley is an androgynous character, and does not necessarily fit into the norm of gender. for one, she's a fucking cartoon character that doesn't have any genitals. i refer to her as a girl, 1. to challenge people's perception of what they consider to be a female character. 2. because I imagine her being voiced by someone female. 3. because she did, at one point, use to be more feminine. hell, at one point the riley you know how now DID have long eyelashes, because people calling her a he bugged me so much. but then i decided that eyelashes on a female character bug the complete crap out of me, more so than people mistaking her gender.

and actually, lemurs are matriarchal animals so if we're talking traditional gender roles here, lemurs throw that out the window. anyway, it just pisses me off basically. whenever i see a dog in the street i don't usually assume it's a male... oh and TWEETY for god sake, if tweety could get away with being male and recognized as male, it shouldn't be so hard for at least one person to figure out riley isn't a dude. goddamnit.

okay i'm done. i'm off to play rocket robot on wheels. which is a fucking awesome game.

I've always had a slight problem with the categorizing system at deviantART. Ever since the beginning.

No, it's not the style, it's not the formatting.. it's a little category I think they've forgotten about.

And it's called tradigital. Okay, so tradigital doesn't exisit. But why isn't there a digital AND traditional category? Seriously. I use this method all the time. I do something completely traditional, scan it, then add to it more in photoshop. To me, the work isn't one or the other, it's both.

so I've decided something with people I've met online (not deviantART mind you, that's different) is that I'm never gonna fucking trust anyone again. I'm in a situation where either my ex lied to me (whom I met online, and caught a plane to go and meet etc), or one of my online friends is. I'm pretty sure my friend is lying, but jesus what she is saying is some pretty intense shit. And it's a GOOD lie. She's suggesting that my ex was just using me for a "fuck" and her friend johnno and her planned it all along. Also that she apparently sent photos to him of me and all this crap. I mean a lot of it doesn't add up, but it's a very very good lie if it is one and my friend played it out very well. I don't know exactly why she would wanna hurt me, but people have told me in the past that she's a pretty crazy liar. If she's not lying though, I'm fucking going to kill my ex and her friend. Anyway, since my last experience with trish I decided I'd never date online again, but like.. This has intensified that even more. It's bullshit guys, never do long distance.

anyways.. enough of that horrible crap. It's my birthday next friday! haha friday the 13th XD I'm really looking forward to it. Apparently my uncle is coming down and everything (though it was meant to be a secret) DUDE, I haven't seen him in like 10 years! I'm so glad I was warned first that he was coming down.. I dunno what it is with my dad and surprises. Haha surprises are dumb.

I'm a bit late to comment, but I actually LIKE these new profile and journal features. Sure, it's fucking annoying when someone's layout is all over the place, but ya know, I'm sick of the comment "can't even find their gallery" man, you can click "Gallery" right next to profile if you wanna see it so fucking bad lol. Me, I tend to ignore people who have shotty layout's right away, I think if they have a bad layout, their gallery probably isn't much better hahahah.

Oh, and the other thing people are saying, OH NOO DA IS TURNING INTO MYSPACE BECAUSE YOU CAN MOVE STUFF AROUND. No, it's not. You can't change the html, you can't make your whole page have a glittery background so stop complaining. I like it, I think my page looks neater now.

On to other things. I've been meaning to DO SOMETHING lately, to draw something with a backbone, not a one time sketch or illustration that never goes anywhere. I'm talking about wanting to make a comic. I have ideas, freakin' hell I have like 3 different concepts, one with a character I've had since I was about 14. The problem is, I'm afraid when I start something big, I can never get it done on my own. I'm lazy, period. I mean it would be great if I had a partner to make awesome comics with BUT everyone has their own ideas, Tasmania is small and I don't have many friends who like to draw similarly to me ahah.

BUT I will start, and I'm going to start on the 1st of January. It'll be my new years resolution.. Hopefully this will be different and I won't stop half way or at the first strip. I'm basically just asking for luck here people. lmfao. Also, I've been reading Cerebus (just the first phone book lol) by Dave Sim and also Bone (whole thing) by Jeff Smith for a little inspiration. If anyone has any titles they think I might like, I'd love to hear, and I'll definitely look for them.
