For those that don't know me, i used to be really into the bmx scene. I still keep in touch with it, but i just don't have time to ride anymore.

i feel i'm quite uptodate with bmx.

and i watch almost all the good videos that appear.

only one or two parts really stand out for me, in style.. balls and just the video section.

Aside from bmx, life is going really well. I love my new job!

The people are great, I love what i do and i'm learning everyday. And my office is amazing, i overlook Kelvingrove park! Its awesome!

last weekend i moved into a new flat with my girlfriend Laura. The flat is stunning, i love it. Out of all rented flats i've been in over my student years this has to be the nicest. I'm very lucky!

I keep meaning to send my film off to get processed. I have loads to get done! But with the Royal Mail Strikes.. i just don't trust the post at the moment!

I'm bored, i've officially done too much work yesterday and this morning. Its lunchtime, so i think i'll mess about on deviantart for an hour!

Realised that i've not shot a single photo, in about 3weeks except for testing my project. Which works btw!

I've just been looking through peoples galleries, looking at different trends in cameras and setups. It seems most people either shoot with a relatively high-end DSLR, or a rangefinder. There are some MF people around, and i love the 6x6 format!

So it got me wondering, whats your favourite setup? not your ideal setup... or your wish-list setup. The set-up you use the most out of all your gear!

Mine definately has to be the leica and a 35mm lens, i love that focal length. I do miss the 50mm on street though. A close second would be the 1n and the fisheye, they go together like pizza base and cheese (not the dominoes kind though, cause they suck)

I've got about 50% of my report done, and i reckon ive got around 30pages to write for Weds 5PM. Thats the deadline to get the report bound, then it gets handed in on the Friday.

I want to shoot some street

I also managed to upgrade the PC as well! The desktop died recently, very horribly... and i've got a box beside me holding some nice toys.

Core 2 Duo, ddr2 ram, 7900GTO gfx and some nice wee things.

I've got 2rolls to process, one roll 3/4 shot in the leica and 1 roll 1/3rd shot in the canon. I've gotta go out to the shops, so i might take one with me

right, that is all... off to the shops, and back to work after!

I've taken a few homeless people photographs, but i've tried to show them in the eyes of society, for instance.. being ignored. The focus being on the scene, not the homeless person.

I agree on this "ban" as taking photographs of homeless people is really easy, as they just don't care. Its stated, its harder to take a photo of a squirrel than a photo of a homeless person! Which is quite funny.. but sadly true.

Anyways, wandered around Town for an hour with *dislocatedgerbil yesterday again, and shot some street... on colour! (shock horror!)... Just gonna get em developed tomorrow i think.

I'm getting more balls, to get into peoples faces with my camera!

Back to project work for me.

man, I typed a massive journal talking about uni, photography, printing, Christmas, shooting locations, coffee, going away next weekend, and leicas.

and my bastard of a flatmate =raedus walks in, and i try to show him firefox's recovery of closed tabs... forgetting about my journal, i close firefox. But firefox brought the tab back up.. but with no writing in it

so i lost it. I'll try to reiterate what i typed!

Right, i was talking about how uni is going... its hard, but its going OK. I find myself getting up at 830-9 most days to start working!

Its week 9, and I've no idea where week 1-8 went. I think !kinderschokolade ate them, and that's my theory on why he is banned.

I've been studying Autonomic Systems all day, and they're awesome. For those who don't know, they're self healing systems! So I've got a big list of pro's and con's to put into my 24slide presentation.

I sold my 300d, with everything digital to my cousin for £200. So we're both happy.

I've also got a Canon EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens going for sale, for £220 inc p+p if you buy from me before Friday. If you don't it goes on ebay with a reserve of £200 excluding p+p. Its a great lens!

Sadly, i don't have a digital camera to take photos of it

I'm only £500 away from a leica m6-ttl camera, which I've wanted for around a year now. But never thought i'd get one! But after *dislocatedgerbil got one... i was hooked.

is 21 tomorrow, he's just mentioned.

So everyone go watch him for a present, he's a great photographer... and getting better with every submission.

I shot a roll of apx100 in 5mins yesterday on the 1n and the fisheye. Kinda project I've had an idea for, including cycling with my camera in front of my face... scary, but cool results if what happens is what i think is gonna happen!

I feel i should post a photo in this blog, so give me two mins and I'll go find something funny, or serious.

Ok, this is what happens when you fuck up... and forget what ISO you rated c-41 colour film at. I pushed this one stop, to iso1600. I think this coulda been a fantastic shot, but if i hadn't had to get a clip test done... it would have been completely awesome

So life is getting 100% busier now, especially with the uni work that is getting thrown at us! My project is quite cool, i have to create a piece of software that will digitally re-create www.adrianbrannan.com 's work. I love his style, its so different.. its quite fun talking to my supervisor about it cause he seems quite interested in his work.

I'll probably end up using you guys to help with some early user testing or something... well.. i'll use the people i can trust

I'm currently browsing my gallery and my photographs trying to work out what photo i should send `zerocomplex as we're doing a print swap. I can't wait to see what he sends me.. i hope its totally random!

On a side note, if anyone wants to do a print swap with me.. gimmi a shout!

On the topic of my band, we had a gig for Oxfam last Monday and raised just over £350 for oxfam.. and thats after we had to pay for the PA and the sound guy. So i'm quite chuffed with that, oh and it was fun too!

I got to play with *dislocatedgerbils latest toy.. a leica M6 with voigtlander 35/2.5. I want this camera, its sexual.. i swear i could be 5ft from someone and take a photo and they wouldn't hear it! While my 1n is CHERTWAKCHRRRRR... and everyone freaks out thinking its a nuclear bomb or something its that loud. But i get my exposure right everytime

so i dont seem to have been to active on deviantart lately, i've been commenting on other peoples work but i've not been sticking any of my work up here or any new journals lately.

Just not been shooting as much! I think its cause i've gotta use the 1n with the huge grip which is annoying, so i've bought a new battery grip to use it without the power booster. Back to a smaller camera hopefully!

Something happened to the om10 (sorry dad).. I was finishing off a roll of elitechrome EC and roughly about shot 30 the viewfinder went quite dark and the battery stopped working the metering. So i try to fire off a shot, and the mirror catches halfway. I don't want to lose my photos on this roll at all, but i hope the om10 aint dead.

anyone got any ideas? I'm gonna go down to quiggs today or later on next week!

Sent off my papa-roach photos a while ago, and heard nothing about them

maybe its because they had to perform a clip test on every roll

Been doing a lot of riding recently too, starting to lose a bit of weight and i definately feel fitter! And now, for some reason (as usual) i've got a stupid list of things i want for my bike.

Going out for a friends 22nd birthday tonight, all you can eat curry and all you can drink for £20. Will be a great night!

howdy, so im sitting here with a bottle of magners poured into a jug with lots of ice.. cause i'm too lazy to wash a pint glass right now (i'll do the dishes later) and, i'm satisfied.

Although gutted at the same time, i was literally about to step out the door to pop into town to go test ride/possibly buy a bike im looking at getting, the 2007 Specialized Langster. It looks pretty sweet! But, as i look out the window theres a feckin monsoon in Glasgow... torrential downpour! So instead im gonna watch my name is earl.

BIG thanks to *Frighten as the big man got me a photo-pass for papa-roah on Saturday night, im not a fan of the music but they're a big band for me to cover.. it was so much fun being right down the front of the stage shooting the band and fans. Ended up shooting loads of film, and pushing loads of tri-x.. and then, only to forget what speed i rated everything at!

so, i gotta have a clip test performed on all my rolls.. which means ... £££££

I'm back at uni just now, and some of the classes look great... i reckon theres gonna be a shit load of work to get done though, so panicking a wee bit on that front.

right well, i hope the rain pisses off soon.

right, i can't stop listening to Ben Kweller. His music's amazing, great lyrics and brilliant tunes!

played a few gigs at the weekend, one of them was at Nice and Sleazies on Sunday and it was amazing, great turn out of people and we had some crazy bands to play with. Especially team brick, check his myspace out at [link] ! We ended up getting a few gig offers at the end of the night too, so people definately like out stuff.

Mondays gig was at a pub in Bannermans in Edinburgh, with some emo band and team brick again.. it was fun, i ended up smashed and played drums insanely loud and hilariously fast at the end altogether one more time. Team brick joined us stage with his clarinet and jammed out random noises when the rest of us were just goin a bit nuts. I think i've broken my drum pedal though!

Sorted out all my classes for my honours year, some of them sound really cool.. and some of them sound really hard!

I'm in the middle of filling in my processing form for all my film, i shot a roll of tri-x while watching team brick... in 4mins! haha, on the om-10 and 50/1.4 ... drunk too, so i bet they're all mis-focused and crap!

=geekster has bought me tickets to see Tool at the SECC. Thats going to be wild! I've always wanted to see them, can't wait. Infact, i think a song change is in order.

right, my bedroom is a fucking bombsite! All the washing is drying over the clotheshorse, i decided to clean my cameras and sort out all my film and lenses and stuff... so all my gears on my bed and theres magazines everywhere. I reckon i'll tidy it later.

i finally got my 50mm f/1.4 for the olympus. Its amazing!

gonna finish off a roll on it this afternoon and send off the rest of my film from the last two weeks to get processed tommorrow.

I passed my resit too, 68% which means i now have a degree. You can call me Niall Strachan BSC

going back to uni next year to do my honours, and some of the classes look really interesting... man, sigur ros - saglopur jst came on winamp.. what a tune!

Wow, shot a few rolls on my om10 with the 28mm and ~urban-khaos's 50mm f/1.4

im now wanting to buy a 50mm f/1.4, they rock... easily one of the best lenses ive ever played with! Seriously, wathing a few on ebay right now.

Yesterday i saw a few great bands, but the one group that stood out were definately Ben Kweller! Wow, so much energy! And the writing skills that guy has are amazing. The lyrics were sooooooooo good! I'm *obtaining* the album right now

Today the best bands were definately Danananananackroid and Broken Social Scene! Wow, so good. Our crowd (me, andy, duncan, brendan, ross and james) got KC accidental dedicated to us cause andy was at Leeds last week, and saw them a while ago in Amsterdam!

Currently, myself =raedus and ~urban-khaos are sitting watching a shitty harrison ford movie drinking in the flat

Looking forward to seeing if my om10 works properly

woohoo, going to Radiohead tonight in Edinburgh! I can't wait, ive wanted to see them live for soo long and missed them everytime. Its going to be such a great gig! Im gonna take a few rolls of tri-x and the eos 5 i reckon. Get some good photos hopefully.

Prison break season 2 was just aired last night and i watched it 5mins ago... good start to a new season. Now wheres lost and 24!

Resit seemed to go ok, i get the result in a few days..... so fingers crossed.

anyway, ive got around 8rolls of film sitting to be sent off for processing, ive got one loaded in my eos 5, one loaded in the om10.. and i'll shoot 2rolls tonight. So hopefully, i'll have a good 11-12 rolls being sent off tommorrow. Scanning by the weekend hopefully

so, dA did the v5 upgrade today. Looks quite clean and tidy and a lot faster, which i like. give a few weeks and it'll all be nice and happy i reckon.

just on a break from studying, the subject is really really really doing my head in now. So bored of reading about memory, cache memory, processor design, different blah blah blah....

Anyway, not long till internet in the flat! Yaay

Dunc and i are getting quite good at pro-ev5 now. So im gonna go home tonight, pick up some shoes and kick my brothers ass at the game.

Im gonna be shooting my first medium format stuff soon, which i look forward too. But again, i dont.. as i'll end up wanting to buy an MF camera no doubt.

I havent shot anything for a good week or two, and its getting to me. Annoying, when you've got your gear with you.. but you have no motivation to shoot. So i packed the 1n and 50mm into my bag, with a roll of tri-x and a roll of neopan1600 and im gonna shoot some photos on the walk to the train station at rush hour. Hopefully get some funny shots or anything infact. I've had my 1n camera, for roughly... 3weeks and i've only shot 2 and a half rolls of film!

Cant wait for Radiohead gig, gonna be amazing fun over in Edinburgh.

right, so i've got my final ever resit of my life in 23 days. I've been prepping myself for some big study in the next three weeks, and today is my first day of the library sessions and holy crap.... its boring.

i got in for 1030 and 2hrs after studying, i've decided to write a blog. Not just any blog but, an im bored out of my fucking bollocks blog. Although, i have been a good boy and not been messing about on the internet instead of studying this morning.

I dunno if i mentioned this, but i'm moving into my new flat next weekend or early next week with =raedus. I can't wait, really excited about just having my first place. But, sadly my cooking skills lack big time.

I'm gonna hopefully restructure the site as well. Sorry =phoenixq your design is great but your codings shite. Its gonna become a more photoblog, with gallery pages and an RSS feed. So, i hope you people who read this (probably like 4 out of my 250+watchers (bastards))... any other ideas?

Ive finally shot a few rolls through my 1n, its a bloody monster. Its so quick, and so well built. I'm stunned... now the rolls of film will just sit there in a corner until i have around 6-10 rolls to get processed as its cheaper. I just havent had much motivation or time to shoot recently, but ive found a few more 'walls' and things for some abstracts.

So theres now a wee small fat chinese guy sitting on his laptop directly infront of me.. and well he's breathing very loudly and giggling to himself... weird. I'd like to see what he's looking at haha.

The bloody shops closed in the library too, bastards. I have no food or water to last me all day. I'm dying. I found a £20 HMV voucher on the floor of the bar at work at the weekend.. so im gonna go buy a new PS2 game or something. A driving game me things. I'm fed up of Call of Duty 2, its just gettin boring.

man, the weather here is stunning! Seriously around the 30degrees mark, big blue skies and the sun blazing through the town all day. I had to work the whole day though, but at least got to wait on the tables outside and made a mint in tips

Was chilling in the botanic gardens in the evening, eating ben and jerries ice cream... mmm. Im deffo gonna go back with some slow iso black and white and shoot some cool photos + red filter.. if its a blue sky.

Was out yesterday with =raedus and shot out at some cool waterfalls where i almost slipped into the water with full camera kit in hand. I shat it big time. Ended up wandering over to a quary afterwards and finding some cool broken buildings to shoot.

The bands finally got the EP recorded and produced, you can hear the new tracks at myspace... @ [link] All the artwork was done by =ikhon and it fucking rocks. I love it.

i freaking love this beer, so crisp and dry. Awesome.

The local 'wine warehouse' were doing a crate of 24bottles for £15 which is not bad, considering its about £3 at theast for a bottle in town.

I'm gonna upgrade the film camera over the next month. And im gonna go for an EOS-3 with PBE-2 grip, just all the fancy gubbins in it makes it look awesome... and freaking fast too, i think 10fps!

anyone else got an eos 3? D'ya like it?

Kinda wondering what peoples thoughts of your deviantart gallery is?

do you feel its a 'showcase of art' or do you feel its somewhere to just stick the photos your happy and proud of?

or is deviantart a joke, and you stick everything under the sun up?

I feel its just a place for me to stick photos i like, enjoy and want others to see. I kinda hate it how people only stick one photo up a week (even if its amazing), just because they feel its to show their art.

Maybe i should use flickr?

Dunno, kinda random ramblings... as per usual.

Anyways, got back from Milano on Monday night... it was a fantastic trip! Stunning architecture, amazing people, good food and beer... and the coffee mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Sent off a few rolls yesterday from my trip.. got some good photos i think!

anyway, fucking =cmorrell got his 5d and 24-105 L.. he's a cunt.

Starting the full time bar work for the summer tonight... 6shifts a week, earning some decent money! Hopefully i'll save up for end of summer and upgrade something somewhere or i dunno... no idea, plan is to save till i have an idea!

=JamSee got a film scanner! fucking finally, so ... go give him some love, as i'm sure his photographys gonna skyrocket in the next 6months.

Anyway, my band... offwhitelies are gonna be going into the studio to record our first album... 6 tracks and lots of noise. Can't wait!

Man, summers arrived...... its so good to have no stress!

Im going to Milan on weds for a week... cant wait! So many photo oppurtunity, and to spend some quality chill out time with my girlfriend.

For anyone and everyone that lives in Glasgow, or Scotland for that matter. A new festival called indian summer was announced last week.. early september. With bands like the yeah yeah yeahs, broken social scene and anthony and the jonsons. Thats gonna kick ass! I love BSS, easily one of my fave bands ever! I dunno if you can remember, but i shot a fair amount at their gig in the art school last year.. and i dont think ive seen a band with such raw energy before. They're amazing live!

Gonna be working full time over the summer again, hopefully earn some bling to spend on the little pleasures of life (new film body haha)
