When I was little, I also wanted to have my own hero. Since I was a Disney freak, I decided, around four years old, that I was going to make my own story up. So…I did. As a four year old, I wasn’t very creative. I decided I would be the hero and I would be a person who could turn into sharks or keep some shark pieces – nose, gills, and so on – in my “human form”. Right, as I said; I was four years old.

I started the first novel I ever tried to write when I moved into the new house. I felt so excited; I wanted to write something…adventurous! I was eight years old and we had just changed houses. Now, I won’t give out my age; but floppy-disks were still mighty popular since DVDs weren’t. I was having freaky little “visions” (DON’T ASK) that normally came true…well, ok, nothing special; getting hit in the head with a ball, seeing a wasp…all those stupid things that happened almost every damn day. Anyways, I decided; one of my characters will be psychic! The other one, of course keeping with the shape shifter theme, would be…a guy who could turn into a dragon. I gave up on this novel when I finally reached the end of the space on my floppy disk; I didn’t want to keep up with two disks, thank you, and it was getting difficult to TYPE so much for an eight year old!

And then…I think when I was ten…we got a new computer. I didn’t believe it; the keyboard was amazing! I could save on the computer because, well, the memory was HUGE! So, I started about this orphan who went into an alternate universe and met this guy who she knew in a past life. Then she met a guy who could turn into a dragon – sound familiar? I stopped writing that when I learned how to do quotations properly and realized “YOU HAVE TO CHANGE PRAGRAPHS FOR THE SPEAKER? NO WAY!” I ran to my bedroom and reread the latest Harry Potter book – which were practically Bibles to me, then. I wasn’t up to fixing the book, so I left it.

When I entered High School (this is GRADE SEVEN where I live) I had some issues about people from Grade Six. It wasn’t too big of a deal for a novel. Although, I was madly in love with a guy that was in most of my classes and…decided I’d try and use him in…anything. I was always trying to draw – story of my life – and I began to make some fantasy people. I started with a guy with gold, spiked hair, and that character had a lion’s tail – I made up a name (SANO). I smiled at it and proceeded to the next one…it was a young man dressed all in black with black hair, wolf’s ears, a wolf tail, and red eyes – I called him ALEX. I know it sounds like I’m reading GENESIS or something, but that was seriously how I reacted to it. It was then that I read Amelia Atwater Rhodes’ IN THE FORESTS OF THE NIGHT. I decided…I will use these people in a novel! I was going to separate everything in chapters for the novel. I called the first text document Pro and One (as in Prologue and Chapter One). I began writing more and more, faster and faster. I would use things on loose-leaf, too. I ended the book by saying stuff how SANO – the main character who had explained his relationship with ALEX and the demon inside of SANO. It was 23 000 words.

Once I finished Memories I felt sad. Where was I without…writing?

I made anew title: ANGELIC DEMON. I know, that’s really bad too – right? Don’t fret; it was before I knew about ANGELS and DEMONS. It was about how Sano had to stop ALEX from selling magical secrets to humans. Sano called Alex ALEXANDER to be formal, and eventually I decided…uh, no more ALEX. While Sano was trying to stop Alexander, they both died…as dramatically as I could do anything. BUT: Sano came back to life and started to discover ANGELIC magic and DEMONIC magic in his system (thus the name; get it?) Sano had to destroy all the evidence of the magical secrets, blah-blah…BUT….he was going blind. And…some of his friends died, so on…as dramatic as a twelve year old can do it. By the end, Sano was working to bring escaped souls back to heaven or hell…and had angel, demon, and those shape shifter talents of his. I had 23, 500 words.

I decided… “Why does Sano have a made up name?” I went to the child book to try and find a close name and… I found… “SANTO: Holy, sacred”. What luck!

I started a new novel after I had watched SHAKESPEAR IN LOVE. It started out as a poem. It was named after the poem (Creature, Creature). It was how Santo had to bring some chosen girl back to heaven before all of the CHAOS CREATURES caught her (now, remember that I was twelve….
