I haven't been checking my account lately. I'm starting to get too lazy to sort through all the messages and deviations piling up in my inbox.
anyway, i've got nothing much going on, just preparing for SPM, which i really don't feel like doing btw. after this exam, i'm gonna have a loooong break and just spend it relaxing doing what i like, (like games, guitar and art, heheh...) before i go to college.

Speaking of games....ASSASSIN'S CREED 2 is coming out in November!!! i can't wait!
and i think i'm gonna go get Force Unleashed as well after my exams.

I went to my dad's hometown last last week to celebrate. we were trying to finish the wine that has been lying there for some time and we ended up finishing around 5 bottles...(but there were around 10 people drinking) We all couldn't stop laughing, what with all that talk about organic fertilizers (don't ask) going on. among other crappy things. We were still at it at 1 am when all the neighboring houses have already gone to sleep.

and i had this somewhat crazy english test today. where were given 15 words and were asked to pick the word with the closest meaning (we were given 4 choices). i mean, what the hell does svelte means? (actually it means slender but i only found out after the test.) and then there were other stuff like posthumous and a bunch of other funny words that i can't remember at the moment. But still it was rather interesting...

anyway, i'm still in London and it's cold! especially the first few days when we just arrived. the temperature went below 0 degrees.

I just came back from Paris yesterday and the weather there was cold as well. Mainly coz of the strong chilly winds.

maybe i'll write down some details of my holidays when i get back if i feel up to it. feeling kinda lazy to do that at the moment.

anyway, i woke up early in the morning at around 6am on the 27th (coz i was gonna be leaving for paris) all blur and drowsy. was gonna off my alarm and found an sms from my friend about my PMR results. wasn't really feeling very excited about it coz i kinda expected what i'm gonna get already. anyway, i screwed up my chinese subject paper so i got a B for that. must've been the stupid essay i wrote. i couldn't think of the right words to use, coz i probably didn't even know it in the first place, what with that miserably limited vocabulary of mine. lol. anyway, did fine for the rest of the subjects.

i miss my cats... i hope they're ok.
i miss my guitar too...

note: for those who don't know, PMR is a lower secondary government examination taken by all form 3 students (third year students of secondary school). and the papers cover form 1,2 and 3 syllabus, which means at least three books to study from for every subject, which is a pain in the ass.

I've been on a cooking frenzy lately and thus have not gotten any artwork done. Plus, i've been quite occupied with the guitar.
but i really want to get something done before going to London the week after next, since by the time i come back to Malaysia school would have reopened...

anyway, i had a lot of fun cooking and didn't burn down the kitchen! It all started when my friends came over to my house and i decided to cook lunch for everyone. After that i decided to try out some new stuff. Then i made dinner yesterday and my sister made salad with feta cheese (i found that i can't really stand cheese with stronger flavour. I don't think i'm ever going to hazard trying blue cheese...) made tiramisu too, and i wanted to try making meringues this morning, but my mom said to make it some other time cause i'm making everyone fat.... and we're going to have buffet dinner tonight so everyone is going to be really stuffed.

i think i'm going to try making a lemon mousse pie next week.

anyway, i better go get something done...

just got my electric guitar today.
but it cost about 4000 including the amplifier and some books and stuff. ouch....

had buffet dinner today. skipped most of the main course stuff and went straight to the desserts. They had the best chocolate mousse and Haagen Dazs ice-cream! The coffee ice cream was absolutely heavenly. and they have the smoothest "gui lin gao". and a coffee machine which makes the most aromatic coffees!
but i ate too much and now i'm stuffed...

just went for trial lessons for guitar this week and last week. i tried out the classical guitar last week and the electric guitar yesterday coz i was trying to decide which to learn.

i think i probably did better during trial lesson for the classical rather than the electric. but the electric guitar definitely has a better feel to it. so i think i'm probably going for the electric guitar. yeah!

By the way, check out this band called Aural Joint. [link] It's a band my sister's friends started. They're fairly new. They just released their first EP with 5 songs in it, and it costs RM10.
the song 'Black Wing' is awesome. I really like the piano bits. it's quite simple yet it really adds a lot to the song. and the guitar bit near the end is just great.

This is just a rather short update so i didn't want to write a new journal.
anyway, remember i said that i can now draw like a mad women since my exams are over and i'm now on holiday? well, you might be wondering (or not) why then haven't i posted anything up lately. Actually I have been drawing just that nothing's worth posting up. and lately i've been doing some stuff. My sis asked me to design some weather icons for her cause she's doing some newspaper editing stuff. and a friend of mine asked me to help design the chinese society t-shirt. so i'm currently working on all those stuff plus drawing some portraits (hoping that it might help me with human proportions), which i would be posting up some time, as soon as i'm feeling un-lazy enough to photograph them since they won't fit into the scanner.

oh, and i got a coffee maker today. have to go get ground coffee though before I can start making any...

Last week, my sis ~yEin spent 4 days cooped up in Sunway Pyramid (a shopping mall) painting this rather realistic live-size horse made of fibre glass, for a competition hosted by Samsung. and during one of those three days there was no water supply at the shopping mall so she came back covered in acrylic paint.
She also told me the horses there were all males.
as i said, they're rather realistic horses. XD
They (students of The One Academy, batch 75) were asked to design a horse based on one of Samsung's 5 brand personalities, which are passionate, imaginative, dynamic, stylish, and human. Then they'll pick the best design for each brand personality. My sis did 2 designs based on the brand personality 'stylish', one with the theme masquerade and one based on something else which i don't remember. Quite unexpectedly, her design, the one based on the theme masquerade, was shortlisted and it later entered the final five, very much to her surprise, cause she really didn't expect to win as she didn't really put much effort in to it. All final five contestants get a Samsung MP3 player. So now she can't really hear me when i talk to her, having stuffed earphones into her ear, she's practically deaf. .
It's worse still when she reads a book while listening to music. I've tried talking to her when she's reading, and believe me it's really annoying and you'll sound like a bloody parrot. She even absentmindedly agreed to help me do my maths homework once when i asked her to while she was reading something on the computer, only turning around and saying "What?!" a few seconds later, when she realised what she just agreed to do.

anyway, why am i suddenly talking about her absentmindedness?

I really love the colour scheme for the 'Imaginative' horse. It's very colourful and they did a great job blending the colours with one another in such a way that they don't clash. and there's just so much details.
They're design rationale:
"Our design reflects the limitless potential of the human imagination. It incorporates the use of many colours to communicate the various element and facade of the human mind and its boundless beauty. Designed to mimic a dream-like state, Imaginative is set to dazzle and absorb you into it's mesmerizing world."

The 'human' one has a really great concept and an interesting design. It has lots of details too. and there's a batman on its rear.
their design rationale:
"Utilizing a cartoon style for our design, we want to portray that humans are simple although they like to complicate things. This idea and design is similar to that of a mind map, which also reflects the human desire, belief and relationship with their surroundings." They had to use a projector to make sure that the designs are in the right place, cause if they didn't it'll take too long.

They originally only had 3 days to finish it but coz some of them had to sit for a test, they were given an extra day to finish it.

I just sent my 2nd sis off to America last night. she's gone there to study for 1 and a half years i think, in Oswego. so right now she's flying halfway across the globe, form here to Singapore, then to Hong Kong, then Chicago and finally landing in Syracuse, where someone will come and pick her and the other transfer students up and get them to SUNY Oswego. i'm sure her ass will really hurt from sitting on the plane for too long.

So, to anyone who happens to be staying in Oswego, if you see a five foot tall chinese girl with one eye significantly smaller than the other, who tends to smirk instead of smile and can look rather idiotic when she tries to make a funny face, and would probably look rather plump during winter due to the numerous layers of clothing, don't forget to say hi. oh, and she has dark hair with red streaks too. but the red streaks are only visible under the light.

i'm gonna miss that idiotic face of hers. lol

the house feels rather empty right now. my third sister is holidaying in Penang. she went on a trip with her college mates. so now i have no one to poke fun at...for now.
but she'll be back later today.

hey, i have a quick question for you guys. Those of you who use tablets, which would you recommend for detailed realistic digital painting? Graphire or Intuos? I used this feature/thing/whatever on the Wacom website which allows them to recommend to you which tablet suits you best. after answering a few questions it told me that i should get an Intuos 3 6x8. But i went to a forum and quite a few people recommended Graphire instead of Intuos. So right now i'm kinda lost. The Wacom website says that Intuos has got 1024 pressure levels, whereas the Graphire has got 512 pressure levels. does this mean that Intuos is more sensitive to pressure or something?? and how long does a tablet usually last?
and the prices are really scary.

okay, maybe this wasn't such a quick question after all.
anyways, your opinions are very much appreciated.

1. I don't know what to do when people cry. 2. I'm hopeless with kids. some kid will come up to me and tell me something absolutely random and i'll be wondering why in the world is he/she telling me (of all people) this. I never know what to say to them and i stay as far away as possible from them.

3. I love green tea ice cream. i bought green tea ice cream every chance i got when i was in Japan (where they have green tea ice cream in abundance) eventhough it was winter at that time.

4. I always feel like bashing something up when i'm angry but can never find anything bashable. when i was young it used to be my sisters (that's if she's the one that i'm angry at. c'mon, you can't really think i'm that heartless...)

5. my cat is so pretty... but sometimes i wonder if she's dumb...

also went to one of the tourists spots there and my dad bought a katana which only costed about RM 80+ i think...coz it was made in China. the quality's quite alright for something of that price, and the design looks much better than the one he bought from Petaling Street a few years back (which was even cheaper)

Anyways, i've been a bit flooded with ideas these few days, so i've started quite a few new pieces but haven't finished them.

My third sis ~yEin started college at The One Academy (art college) this January and she's already flooded by tonnes of homework, which are currently sitting on her table, threatening to devour her free time. so her page is rather dead right now. nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to drop by her page.

anyways, we took the night flight to Japan and reached at about 6 or 7 in the morning. straight after reaching we took the bus and started roaming around in...Kinugawa i think (i don't really remember coz i was half asleep on the bus when the tour guide was explaining.) had takoyaki and tried dango for the first time. temperature outside wasn't too cold. it wasn't too cold cause autumn just ended and winter was just starting. so no snow. temperature was around 5 degrees celcius. we went to tokyo, yokohama, and a few other places. we went to the Panasonic show room too. we saw this dish washing machine there but it wasn't for sale.
we also went to their Mcdonald's outlet where we stared and stared at the menu trying to make sense out of it. i almost wanted to just poke my finger at a random set when the person taking the orders flipped the menu around where there's english words on it.

so anyway, i'm not going to bore u all with a blow by blow account of my trip. I'll upload pictures of some of the stuff i bought later. i didn't take too many photos coz it was too much of a fuss to keep taking my camera out and i'm not really used to my camera, so i left all the photo taking to my sis. she seems to love it anyway. we just have to be careful not to let her wander too far off. lol.
she hasn't uploaded the pictures yet though.

school is going to reopen the day after tomorrow. and i'm feeling very very reluctant...
2006 seems too short...
it's gonna be a really hectic year for me. got a massive examination at the end of the year. (not as massive as the one that i'll have to sit for in another two years time though)

i can't seem to be able to do hair properly. they always end up in a mess. it's hard to do it with a mouse cause it's hard to do curves with a mouse. If anyone knows where i can find a good tutorial which teaches you how to paint realistic hair, please do tell me.

Had barbeque and no moon to gaze at (it’s supposed to be a full moon and the moon is nowhere to be seen). Also, one of the lanterns caught fire, and another, and another… Lol…they’re old. Serious.

So…now I gotta go to sleep and and wake up early tomorrow morning to burry myself under piles of books. I’ve got 17 chapters to cover in just 2 days. With any luck, I might be able to see daylight again…Lol. (it’s my own fault anyway that I study at the last minute)

i actually don't mind exams, really. it's just the studying part that i hate. and since it's finals, we'll have more stuff to study as compared to mid-terms... and i'll probably end up trying to squish everything in the syllables into my head at the last minute...

Btw, anyone here watches Samurai 7? i know i'm kinda slow, i think this anime was shown quite a long time ago, but still, does anyone watch it? it has a really great soundtrack. I'd say it's the best so far among the soundtrack for the other anime's i've watched (which isn't really a lot). It's soundtrack is mostly/all a mix of tradisional and modern instrutments. and the opening and ending theme is the best!

apparently it's based on Akira Kurosawa's film 'Shichinin no samurai' (7 samurai), although it has added sub plots, some mecha, but the main plot is still the same. i'm barely halfway through it (the download's kinda slow, but i guess i can't complain, coz the file is quite big) but i love it.

I don’t remember. But I had a really weird dream a few days ago but I don’t quite remember the details.

if you consider the lightning striking my clock and modem even though it wasn’t on, weird, then yes I’ve seen something weird lately. But I dun think that really qualifies for weird, so I think everything is still fine and dandy here.

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
Probably go traveling with my family, get a grand piano and a tablet...and then I’ll put the rest of the money in a maximum security vault in the bank...if there’s any left...

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.
I hate having homework when. So I try to finish them as fast as possible in school and I normally do succeed finishing it. Sometimes after the school bell rings I’m still scribbling away on the exercise book “just a bit more...just a bit more...”. But of course if there’s a lot of work left I certainly won’t stay in school and try to finish it.

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
I’ll make it so that everyone can eat whatever they want and never get fat or sick regardless of how fattening or unhealthy the food is.

19. Do you like to dance?
Never tried, don’t really think I’ll enjoy it very much.

My one week's holiday is coming to an end and unlike most school holidays i've had(which have been quite boring), this one's a busy one. probably coz there's too many things that i want to do. It's the last day of holiday and i still haven't finish my school homework yet...

Anyways, my cat gave birth just a few days ago

we got stinky water for a few days recently caused by excessive content of amonia in the water source coz there was a flood. so the river got contaminated with...you know, excretory waste *coughcoughshitcoughcough* from the poultry farms and all. So we bought a few boxes of mineral water.

On a lighter note, there's a new kitten in my house garden. found it a couple of days ago. It looks soooo scrawny. But I have another cat at home and it isn't very happy about the new kitten. I just hope that it might get use to the kitten so that we can keep it.

Now i kinda wish i haven't finished watching it so quickly... i've read up to chapter 204 of the manga, which i think is the latest chapter.

I just got a new TV a couple of weeks ago and Astro yesterday.

Anyway, we bought the first book of the Sandman comic and Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman for my sister as a birthday present. I've finished the Sandman comic and am longing to buy the second one...and the rest of it.
