Aaand it's over

My Subs ran out lol, and I never DID make myself a journal. I'm lazy like that. The lack of art lately is kinda slightly lack of motivation. I've been rather tired from work and life in general, and many weekends now are occupied with dad or a friend, leaving even less time to dedicate to drawing.

This is why the only thing I HAVE finished are chibis lately, and not even the more elaborate kind, but the little fat ones I do for Squiby.

November will be even worse, as I have even more work hours till the end of the month, but I'll be taking my vacations in December, so maybe I'll get some time then... tough I have so much to do in those two weeks! I REALLY hope to get the Alpha of Midgardia up in that time, with registration and a few pets, and a decent layout. So expect more news on that front soonish!

It helps I've been programming a lot for work and that's polished up my php and sql skills somewhat.

Lazy Weekends

I hate it when I have so many art projects waiting to be worked on during the weekend but when the weekend comes along, I'm too tired/dispirited/just plain LAZY to do them. It makes my weekend so much less productive and frustrating.

But of late I've been so drained with work that weekends I just sit listlessly or sleep a lot to make up for the week's tiredness. I think I really need a vacation...

Dragonlords

Zyo has been keeping a rather good archive on our RPing of what we've called the 'Dragon RP' because of the dragons in it. It's a mixed tale of Dragonlance and Neopets, following the Chronicles triology lightly, with a bit of this and that spicing it up. There's probably a lot of inconsistencies, specially at first since I initially didn't intend to make it a Dragonlance spinoff, but then we've been RPing it because it's fun, not because it's consistent.

I figured, after she told me it spanned now over 550 pages of archives, that we should DO something more with our RPs than just... share them between ourselves. So I suggested making a blog and posting it, by chapters, as she goes reading throgh and making corrections and formatting it.

And so Dragonlords was born.

We plan to update it with new chapters, character profiles and drawings for everyone to enjoy (or not). We hope though, that some people like it as much as we have RPing it. After all, the original Dragonlance books were based off RP sessions as well!

Warning: The story will contain torture, sexual references and some levels of gore. THis is definetly NOT recommended for under 18's.

Too lazy to make a uploadable version and I'm working on stages for the squiby version. This is a species for Midgardia, and it's tentative name is the Murian. They're bunny-lion mixes with wing-like ears.

So far we've brainstormed some ideas for their kind as a quad species as being able to glide through the air with their wings, and they live in tree-nests in a forest where it's best to stay off the ground. It is easier to fly for younger Murians since later on their bodies grow heavier and bigger for their wings to carry. Their tails help direct flight. I'm still not entirely sure if the knobs on their heads are a decoration or an actual piece of anatomy XD Though I'd go for them being an accessory to help keep the ear joints from straining during flight.

A very Squiby Kiriban

I'm getting close to 50k hits on DA and have over 500 watchers. I figure I should do a kiriban, but know I've proven in the past to be rather bad at completing the pictures.

SO I've decided to do something different. Whoever catches the 50k and posts the screenshot FIRST (either on this journal or on my front page) will get a Squiby adopt. This can be either a chibi anthro like the Veldahar/Lyuthi/Adi/Aegis/Hikaru ones I've made, OR a customized squiby adopt on any of my Squiby sets. (This includes the Deguchi and all the 'ko adopts.)

You can decide if you want your prize adopt exclusive or free-for-all as well.

Peripheral Vision

While riding the bus to work, there was something like a fly in my left field of vision. I kept looking that way and seeing nothing, it kept being in my peripheral vision. So eventually I didnÂt turn my head, just my eyes, and saw something black (fuzzy cuz it was close) hanging from my hat. So I thought it might be a little black fuzzball, like from clothes? So I snatched itÂ and it turned out to be a baby spider, who was then on my finger.

He died a few seconds later.

Smoke in tha Hose

While I was struggling with my alarm clock today to wake up, there was a loud bang sound from the furnace (that lives beside me) which made me sit up in bed (specially since the lights flickered). I got up and even then I could smell acrid smoke coming from the AC vents. When I checked my living room I could see the smoke rolling in from the vents there, so I started calling the homeowners, while braving the furnace room to see if there was a fire. I couldn't HEAR any fire, and couldn't see any either but the smell was getting bad and there was a lot of smoke.

I called my landlord, he said he was on his way and to call 911.

So I did.

This is the first time ever that I've called 911 in my LIFE XD I'm glad it wasn't for an actual fire.

They got to our house about 4 minutes later, and it was the whole cavalry XD 4 fire trucks and a LOT of overly dressed firefighters, with air tanks and masks. I felt kinda bad XD but after they investigated and made sure there was no fire or danger of any, they said that it was usual procedure for a house with possible fire. It's easier to tell them all's fine and can leave, than call for backup if there IS a fire.

There was none though, apparently the furnace's engine prolly broke down and smoked a lot only. I can still smell the acrid smoke though I've never had this much breeze down here since I moved in!

That's because they opened the only two windows down here... including what call the 'bug window'... where all the spiders and bugs live (between the two panes of glass, that now stand open). I am NOT looking forward to closing that window, though I'll have to close it before I leave. I don't want all the bugs migrating into my house!

So yeah, pretty exciting way to wake up eh? I took some crappy cel-phone pics of the fire trucks, so I'll see if I upload those later.

Freak Subscription: Features anyone?

So DA found out certain non-subscribers had Beta Tester status. And after like... a year, they finally fixed it, which means no more non-premium beta testers. As a small parting gift, they gave me a week's subscription. I'm hoarding the neat stuff from the subs since I really can't afford a sub right now, and in honor of the few days left, here's a skinned journal. XD

I've been making a lot of Squiby-type art lately, mostly small chibis and drawings at low resolutions. They're relaxing, and what I need I suppose, with work being rather stressful and tiring. I do have various more serious arts on the WIP table, just haven't had the energy to dedicate to them yet.

I have a lot of images to finish, and I plan on doing another marathon of art on Saturday. I have 4 images that are WIPs right now, in different stages of completion, and 2 color combos I want to make for Leopets. Last time I did an art jam on Ustream I streamed for 11 hours of drawing practically non-stop, and a total of uhm... I think it was 10 images finished.

I'll probably be doing doodles for free for those viewers who stay for a long period, and chat with others too!

Tentative start time is 2pm EST. I'll change this journal if the time changes.

The Truth about Diane

Copy paste from my Leopets testament, but I think it can apply broadly anyways. I just wanted to make sure once people knew, they knew it everywhere.

So it's come to this. I really hate to do this, but I guess I've been left with no other choice. Because of a simple mistake, an oversight on my part (and I apologized directly to Laska about it already) Diane was banned from Leopets.

I never expected my social experiment to be cut short by her of all people because I thought I could trust her. But obviously, I was mistaken. I can't trust Laska, and I probably never should have. But she seemed like a genuine friend whe she offered me almost a year ago to be co-owners of Leopets. That was a lie of course, but I didn't know that at the time.

Fact is, Diane is a ficitional character I created about 2 years ago, as an experiment. Originally created when playing Ragnarok Online to see how people reacted to a 'nice polite noob' I used her on Neopets to escape a bit from Hikaru's rather... high popularity.

Diane was a persona where I could relax, be more informal and more friendly without the awe I would get on TXF forums, something I've never really thought I deserved. I also extended the challenge to se if I could succesfully create a second art form, with it's own unique traits that were sufficiently different from mine so as not to pass as mine.

Of course as some of you noted, as time went by, what I learned as both Diane and Hikaru kinda melded together to hone my art skills a lot, but made both styles begin to look more similar.

Besides art, Diane has also created characters, with their own uniqueness that is different from those of my own creation process, and in all, Diane is my fun little experiment in being a different person.

Here on Leo it was the perfect way to create pet images without getting bashed, since Hikaru could no longer make art for the site without being nitpicked to death. And it worked! No one critisized Diane's Shenkuu Xwee, when had I posted it as Hikaru I'd never have gotten so close to completing it. I still will, most probably, since I like how it looks.

But now what happened, and made me have to speak out like this about who Diane is, is the fact that Laska decided she *HAD* to tell the other admins about Diane and Hikaru, and their two accounts.

I would like to first of all assure you that neither account profited by the other. With a possible exeption of a gift from Hikaru to Diane at some point (and I give gifts to all my friends, not just my alter ego) I was stricly rigurous in letting Diane surface on the site on her own, without Hikaru's help. So as far as accounts go, Diane's was my non-admin way of starting from scratch, since on Hikaru I had painted all my pets ages ago with pet submissions or after being a Master Admin.

So I finally made a mistake, and voted twice on the poll for the sharkaws, once on each account. And Laska decided that was too unfair and that Diane must be banned and the Admins told of who she was.

So I guess that ends my time here. I'd been putting it off because I do enjoy the site, and contributing to it, but apparently Laska does not want me here, because I now behave 'shitty' to her. I don't really hold her any ill regard, though she has changed a lot since I first met her, nor would I say anything bad about her. She's just taken badly to the stress the site put her under, and handled it as best she could.

I had fun here, both with art, fanart and the people, and I will sorely miss this place. I will be dedicating myself to Midgaria I guess, as I will no longer be able to work on my petpages here.

I hope you guys have fun. Since that's what this place is for. And that ther...

When I first heard of the Dungeons and Dragons MMO game, I was so exited and even signed on to try and be a beta tester of the game. Of course, I never did get to participate.

But while I'm not that much of a fan when it comes to most games that come out nowadays, I know a lot of ppl who breathe games and would jump at the opportunity to test out new games even before their release.

So yeah, sorry bout the sudden splurge of RP on my journal. But I was excited at how the Niflheim plot is finally moving again. If you want to read the rest of the RP, you can find it here.

My lack of activity is due to work, I barely have time to do art, though I do have some WIP's, I'm trying to finish a picture of Viviender in anthro form. I still have a total of THREE contests running, one in Wajas, one in Leopets and one here.

It was late. VERY late. Most of the people were already in bed, tired after a day's work. Tresa walked through the halls alone, a basket in her hands with her clothing and items, fresh from the baths. She disliked using the communal baths with others so she usually stayed up later to use them alone.

The castle was obviously very quiet as Llamiis sat on the maid's bed, waiting.

Tresa paused outside the door, realizing what she would find inside. She frowned, should she leave? No... he would wait for her if she did... steeling herself, she opened the door.

The door opened and Llamiis stood calmly, smiling. "Hello."

Tresa had left the lantern on, and it flickered, casting yellow light on the large yurble. Tresa yelped in feigned surprise, moving back slightly. "Llamiis! What... do what do I owe this honor?"

"You can answer that one yourself, I think," he smiled. "I wonder if this is too soon for you? I suppose it's not going to matter."

Tresa blinked, looking confused. "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean." She said, walking into her room slowly, setting the basket on her desk, keeping Llamiis in her field of view.

Llamiis watched her placidly, hands folded behind his back. "Unfortunate." He crossed the room towards her.

Tresa turned to face him completely, back against her desk. "I... must ask you to leave if you have nothing you need help with." She said.

"Mmhmm". Still smiling, Llamiis reached out with one hand to touch her cheek.

Tresa slipped to one side, away from his hand and himself. "Don't touch me please... I am not interested in you that way, please leave."

"Oh, it's not that," Llamiis told her honestly. "However--" he reached out to grab her more forcefully.

Llamiis sidestepped between her and the door then lunged, intending to pin her to the wall with his greater bulk.

Tresa wasn't so lucky the third time, and she grunted as the air was knocked out of her, squished between wall and larger bulk. She immediately cried out loud for help.

Llamiis had the physical contact he needed, though, and grabbed her arm with one hand, which began to glow. He sent his magic through her nervous system paralysing nerves and locking down brain functions as quickly as possible.

Crizioa had been patrolling the hallways, it was about his fifteeth time making his rounds around the castle. He checked every corner, every hall, everywhere..for possible distrubances. Since his father's death he hadn't slept. As he rounded a corned he heard Tresa's cry for help and his wings ruffled. Who?..He took off towards where her voice came.

Tresa looked up with terrified eyes before she went limp, loosing consiousness in the hands of the larger Yurble.

Llamiis had expected her to scream, but it was still inconvenient. Smiling, he eased back, catching the limp body of the ixi in his black-clawed red hands.

After a few moments Crizoia stood in Tresa's doorway. Blinking he stared at Llamiis then Tresa. So was she..if Llamiis had her did that mean Tresa was...? He shook his head and stepped inside. "What...are you doing?" He trusted Llamiis over Tresa so he didn't doubt his judgement.

"Making a preemptive strike," Llamiis looked up at Crizoia. "I hope I didn't disturb you too much." He would wait and see how Crizoia responded to this before going further.

"..She a spy?" He asked raising an eyebrow, since that was afterall, who he dealt with most. He shifted his weight, the wings on his wrists twitching. Something felt slightly off.

"I've reason to believe so." Llamiis tilted his head slightly to indicate her. "I don't normally go around knocking maids unconscious in the dead of night." He gave a humorous smile.

Crizoia didn't laugh but looked to Tresa. "....I always felt strange around her, she did seem to sneak around.." He shrugged. "....Just don't do anything...inapporiate aside from torture.." He sighed and shook his head. "..I want to see your report on her though."

"Of course," Llamiis smiled. He apparently was going to ignore the comment about inappropriateness. "Would it be too untoward to ask for help in carrying her?" He'd rather not get questions--Crizoia's presence would help that.

Crizoia rose an eyebrow. "..She can't be that heavy.." He said but sighed, he was wasting precious pacing time with this. "..Fine..hand her over?" He said walking beside him.

Llamiis shifted Tresa's unconscious weight and then passed he...

Back Pain Begone!

That's the word of the moment, back pain. GAAAH MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!

I blame mostly the chair I use at work, but I can't do much about it. I've been taking pills for back pain but that does just a bit to lessen it. It's not that much in the lumbar part, more in my shoulder blade area. I do hunch, specially at work where I have a tendency to need to hunch forward to peer at the screen when working.

In other news, I have a spider infestation. I've killed/seen around 8 this week, last week there were four sightings... It's making me self conscious and makes me look around me and fear falling spiders all the time. I had one fall from the roof onto my keyboard inches from my hand to crawl between the keys, one scurry from under the shower mat as I stepped out of the shower naked, and another scurry from my shoes as I wen to put them on before going to work.

I need Raid... badly. Or maybe some animal/critter that likes eating spiders.

With work, I've had no time to draw, or sketch, so I don't have anything to show or upload, sorry.

Life Update

Okay, seems I am blessed with the best luck in history. Or something. It's been less than a month since I arrived to Canada, and when I first got here, things looked pretty grim. Remember?

Now, let's go through this quickly. To get a life there are certain things you need.

- Get an ID (check)
- Get a job (check)
- Get a home (check)

All that in less than a month. Incredible? More like the best luck this century!

I scored a basement apartment for 500$CAD a month. And am working as a Web Designer for 13$CAD the hour. No benefits but heck it's a job right? My working hours are from 11am to 6pm too, which is crazy amazing for a nocturnal person like me, it means I don't have o get up at 6 in the morning!

And if I don't like how it's going, in two months I can apply (and practically ensured contract) at Peel Police as Help Desk Analyst, with any training that may require for free, and an entry 18/hr plus benefits of working for the government are the best.

I cannot believe how lucky I've been XD

Commisions

That doesn't mean I'm not open for commissions! I am for now only opening commissions for pixel avatars, 5$USD for each pixel av, 50x50 fully done by hand. I accept PayPal and money orders, or if you live in Canada, a direct deposit into my Scotiabank account.

I may be opening further commissions for other full drawings once I get a better computer and am settled down into the whole work routine.

Stolen from ~danke-kitten, a quiz about fursonas. Feel free to complete it yourself, it's a good way to think about your fursona.

1. Why did you make your fursona the species it is?

Because after discovering Red Pandas, I fell in love with them. It's really as simple as that. They're curious, playful little things, that like romping around and exploring. They're also quite nocturnal, just like I am. Cuddly and cute, which I can be XD

2. Why did you choose the color scheme you did for your fursona?

The usual coloring of a red panda is pretty dark, and I am known to be quite pale, even with slight albino characteristics. So I chose washed-out colors, lighter browns and peaches to show that.

3. What special bodily characteristics (wings, long claws, mane, etc) have special significance for your fursona?

The only special part would be the hair, cropped sort and really blonde, like my own. It gets in my face at times too. Sometimes I think of putting wings, or wing tattoos on her, since in the past my anime versions have had white wings as part of my representation. But for some reason, I've never quite convinced myself I need them now.

4. What unusual markings or colors have special significance for your fursona?

Besides blonde hair, and the lighter albino-like colors, she's pretty normal.

5. If your fursona has jewelry/piercings/articles of clothing, what significance do they have?

The red bandanna she wears is a symbol of my love for red clothing. I use red shirts, coats, hats and gloves all winter, only in summer do I switch to greens and cool blues.

6. Does your fursona's personality mimic your own? If not, why not?

In a way, it does. She's cuddly and friendly with those she senses are of her kind, and polite and talkative to those she just met. I think she's more curious than I am, and a lot more coquettish, but in general she's just a fluffy, teddy-bear version of me.

7. Do you currently have more than one fursona? Why, or why not?

Nope! Unless you count my waja-sona which is more of an icon than a fursona anyways. I don't think one should have more than one fursona in any case.

8. Have you had a different fursona in the past? If you did, why did you change it? If you haven't, why haven't you changed it?

I had never really had one till I made this one, and I've not thought of needing to change her since. She fits the part pretty well I think.

So I've finally made it to Canada. I arrived early on the 13th after an 11 hour trip from Santiago, gaining one hour and feeling very stiff due to the lack of stretching and moving on the cramped flight. That same day I was tottered around Hamilton due to a friend of my aunt's being on her deathbed.

The next day we went to try and get my papers done for my Social Insurance Number and the OIP, Ontario Health plan. Only to discover I couldn't do either of them because I don't have my Canadian Citizenship card.

That's the one that got lost ages ago by my mother. The replacement can take up to 10 months, even a year. And I can't work without it. I am now facing the possible outcome of having to leave Canada for Chile again, work over there till I get that paper back and then come back.

But I definitely don't feel like doing that. I'd feel like I had... lost before I even started.

Backup Plan

My secondary backup plan is to work 'under the table' or on the net to make enough money to pay my aunt for my maintenance while the papers are looked into. There's a chance it may take only two months, or up to 4 months. I'll need I'd say at least 300 dollars a month to help out with expenses, plus some money for myself.

This is where you guys come in. I need HELP for real here. I really need commissions and work. It can be art or making webpages, designing pretty much anything I could possibly try my hands out, either for you, your parents or friends. Anyone who can then pay me for my services over Paypal.

I am willing to talk out what services I can do, and for those who wanna show a CV to parents/people they think might wanna hire me, use this. It includes a link to TalentDatabase, which has a selection of my best works, or just this DA gallery as a portfolio of examples.

I'll be working on setting up my paypal in the meantime!

Character Stats and Pets

Besides creating a personality and look for the characters of the site, I'd like to develop a stat system so that the characters can be used in 'dice' battles, against other chars and NPC's in wars and other activities.

For this I'm thinking of basing it off the popular D&D system, but with our own rules and skills. Characters would have a base set of stats defining their physical and mental strengths, and a set of skills and aptitudes for what they can do.

Pets

The other part I'd like to decide on is the use of pets or familiars for the characters. They'd be a way of incorporating the "Pet Site" like things of having quad critters you play with and feed. They would be familiars to your char, helping them boost certain stats and skills for battle.

While navigating the site you can 'activate' them and thus count each navigation click as if you were "playing" with them. You'd have to feed them every so often depending on how hungry they are, and they'd only get hungrier when you're actually on the site/logged in.

The more you play with them, the closer the bond they have with their owner, making their help larger. Probably over time they can also learn more skills and level up with their character.

This means we'll need to brainstorm pet types/species and what skills they can boost, etc. Any other input is welcome =3

Valhalla: Falling Angels

Explanation

This is an RP I did today with Sho and Zyo. It serves as a summary for what's been happening in the Valhalla plot. It's not quite Midgaria yet since this is still based on Neopia, but the stories will probably remain very much the same when migrated to the new site.

Neopia Recap

Since coming here, he had gained a level of awareness better than he had ever had. Now, disturbances in the air were recorded and translated as imprinted images. He could almost see, without the need for eyes. Moreover, the Air-faerie was more than happy to have him sign a contract with her, and his control skyrocketed. He was due to meet with Adi in a few short weeks, and he wanted to share with her all he had learned on this mountaintop shrine.

It had taken Mariel long enough to find the xweetok, and something had happened only shortly after his arrival that worried him much more than Adi's condition... but as a soldier on a mission, he'd carried out what he'd been told, and finally landed on the mountain where Aegis was said to be. "Mister Aegis?" The white gelert called out, sitting to recover his breath.

Not much could take him by surprise anymore, and Aegis turned unseeing eyes to the gelert,"Yes?" He rose, his brow furrowed at the delicate levels of concern he heard in the Gelerts voice.

The angel inhaled slowly. He was tired.... more than he'd like to admit... "Finally found you... I have a message... from Miss Aditeya."

"From Adi? Please, continue." Aegis gestured to the empty air, which seemed to whirl into a translucent cushion of air. He sat in it, even as a second appeared behind the angel,"Take a seat and rest a moment while you do."

"Thanks..." The gelert sat down, brow creasing, then he shook his head, best get it over with quickly. "Your wife was pregnant when you left her. But she didn't know... She... got into a fight that almost cost her her life." He began.

"What?" Aegis tried to keep the alarm from her voice,"How long ago was this? Is she alright? How is the baby?" He didn't give the gelert much time to reply, and noticed this after the fact. He waited impatiently, lips pursed.

"By now abut a month ago." He admitted. "She came to Valhalla with a friend, she had been healed by a local healer in the forest and was fine... but when she arrived the next day to Valhalla... well, she had symptoms of loss. I was dispatched to find you immediately, and haven't heard from them since, but I know they were keeping her in the hospital."

Aegis stood stiffly, dispelling his own air cushion,"..Take me to her." He knew of the 'no non-valhallans in Valhalla, but he didn't much care. If they tried to keep him from his wife, there WOULD be hell, and they would soon find out how it would feel to anger an Air Sage.

"We thought you'd say that." He stood, and moved closer to Aegis, taking out a talisman. "This is a grant... it will give you permission to use one of the portals to Valhalla, and you will be escorted to the Hospital." He handed Aegis the talisman, six wings crisscrossing each other in the blazon of the Valkyries set in gold with a large diamond in the center.

Aegis absently traced the talisman, nodding his head firmly."Thank you, ah.." He colored slightly,"I apologize, but I didn't get your name?"

"Oh... I'm so sorry, I'm Mariel." He smiled, then sat down again quickly, closing his eyes. He was sweating, but hoped the other, being blind, hadn't noticed the signs of wear and pain he was hiding. "The closest portal is at the base of Pillar Mountain." He said.

"may the wind under your wings always guide you to which you seek, and never withhold an an updraft to you,Mariel," Aegis made a few paw gestures, and a faint glow of a rune appeared in front of Mariel as the winds caressed him tenderly. The Valhallan found his aches fading slightly in the face of the wonderful relaxing feeling.

The sage offered a slight smile,"I'm afraid since you're not native to this realm I could only preform a minor blessing.."

"But fortunately, Sylphe does have a great fondness to those with wings, so it should still serve you slightly even in Valhalla."

The gelert blinked in slight surprise, and...

ÂWhat a year

Because having a cold in summer isn't bad enough, I got food poisoning last night for eating spoiled Humitas (Wiki it you fool) and it's that time of the month (when girls get cranky). So it's been very nice for me these past few days, today has been amazing.

At least last night I found some paracetamol that my aunt had (and didn't offer me despite feeling bad for a week) and that helps some. I spent all afternoon in bed watching a Heroes Season 1 marathon (had never seen it).

You might wanna stop reading from here, this is just me and a rare need to vent some pent-up frustration...

To top it off there seems to be a general feeling of discontentment against me on Leo, people seem to rebel in the idea of me being Master Admin (why is SHE an MA? She was made MA right after she joined! Just because she can code and draw?) And of course there's the people who HATE my angel xweetok. And love finding some way to point it out (possibly in some forum I don't frequent so I supposedly don't see it and with a 'no disrespect to the artist' despite they're also trying to be my friend over MSN).

For those of you who happen to also watch me (because we're all hypocrits), I never asked to be Master Admin. Laska had to convince me, because I really didn't feel capable or good enough to fill in such an important role. I finally accepted and have since done quite a lot for the site, and no, not the art. I've stopped two exploits (duping items bugs) when Vate wasn't there to solve them with my php knowledge and I code in a lot of the admin features that no one but the admins see to make our jobs on the site easier.

But heck, they probably think I got the job because I'm "friends" with Laska, "popular" and all that shit. Because we all know I just wanted the job to paint all my pets and be able to get my pet images on the site without needing anyone's approval.

You know what I love most about it? Despite what everyone says about the angel xweetoks, they are the most popular color choice for leopets, in Leo-only colors. Gee, for something you all HATE so much, I sure see a LOT of them around.

ÂTo Friends

Sorry I've not been at my best, I've hardly answered MSN messages, I'm barely on and when I am I'm cranky and evasive. I just... I'm tired, weak and... sick. I'll try to make it up to you guys, I just feel like 2008 is just slamming itself down on me. Hopefully this isn't how the rest of the year is gonna be like, but somehow I feel it's just gonna keep going uphill.

I hate uphill.

Hot days of Summner

ÂI'm melting!

So apparently all the disagreeable pain and aching from yesterday was me developing a fever. Luckily I was able to suppress most of it for New Years and went to bed relatively early (about 3am).

Things got terrible the next day when the heat kicked in. Having a fever when there's 32ÂºC (about 95ÂºF) and possibly more in the room is NOT NICE! My whole body ached, and it felt like I was in a furnace. I was in bed for most of the day, it's 9pm now and I just got up to do my dailies and stuff, since I took some medicine and I'm not feverish at the moment.

It's still hot though and the lack of cool air or any type of air conditioning is just maddening. I really do feel like I'm melting T_T. What a time to have a fever!

I changed the journal CSS to match the heat but I'll probably make my own new one when I'm not so tired x.x

Old Lady

The past two weeks have been so hectic for me I've barely had time to think. I've been out and about, walking mostly, doing everything and anything. This is not how I usually work. Usually I go out once a week and stay in the house the rest of it. Basically my father has been pushing me (and his sister and MY sister) to get all the paperwork I need get done, plus outings with my sister, ice skating (yes, in the middle of summer, it as amazing) and shopping and what have you.

I feel like my body is on strike now. My body hurts like when you've got a fever (maybe I do, I feel hot, but today it was unbearably hot anyways.) and all the sleep I had today doesn't seem to help at all. I admit I went to bed at 5:30 last night (or this morning) but I slept till 3pm and then after lunch I slept like 3 more hours.

I later made my BED and ugh I feel very tired and aching all over again. It SUCKS, because I feel like I can't do a single thing, and yet my aunt (and family in general) expect me to do stuff, help them in the house, etc, etc. Because since they can be up all day doing stuff, why can't I?

I'm sick of people not taking into account the problems I HAVE.... I DO have medical problems and I do what I can but my body is JUST NOT STRONG ENOUGH!

Needless to say feeling exhausted all day is NOT productive when it comes to art, I can barely move, and drawing requires finer skills that my shaking, aching hands cannot handle at the moment.

New Years Resolutions

I only have two main ones really, one is to stop biting my fingers (at least for 30 days) and the other is to start my Novel about Ceranda's story (and that of Niflheim.)

The other main one is getting Midgaria pushing forward. I'm still in need of a main coder, and I'm afraid until I get that resolved there's only so much I, as a one-person team, can do to get a community site like this going.

Midgaria Contest: Clothing Design!

After some consideration, I have decided to open up a contest to design clothing for Midgaria! This will be a bit of a challenge for myself as well as you guys, and I hope you find it fun and are willing to join in!

Right now I'm putting this together, so it's not by all means all set in stone. I'll edit this journal with additional information as I get to it.

The Task

You must design a full outfit of clothing for Midgaria using the templates as base. A bit like filling in a pixel doll, you can use any media you wish, as long as the body itself is the same size as the template offered. As for the type of clothing.. you can do pretty much whatever you want. You'll have more chances of winning something if you design something unique, and not just a pair of plain blue jeans and a shirt. The setting of the world is fantasy, with traces of medieval, but really, anything goes, as long as it's not too futuristic.

You can classify your outfit as being from one of the three realms, or let me find where it fits more.

Female

Male
(have't had time, but you can use the female one I think XD since I'd have to redraw winning pieces anyways, I'll edit the curves to fit the male base myself.)

Entries must include one image with the full clothing outfit on the base, and separate images (either to one side or in separate files) of each individual piece (either alone or on the template).

The outfit should include (at least) the following:
- Pants/dress
- Shirt/upper undergarment
- Coat/upper overgarment

You may also include the following:
- Shoes
- Accessories
- Cloak/cape (can be considered an overgarment or an extra piece)
- Weapons

Since we are playing with the idea of making people able to choose the base color of clothing, colors are not necessary, and artistic abilities aren't a dominating factor. I am more interested in the design itself. You can of course define colors for decorations/edges and other things that would be 'fixed' while the base color can change, or you can define what part of each clothing piece changes.

The Prizes

All prizes will be for the winners once they join the site/there is a site to join. In the meantime they will receive the image/character in static form, as a 'fanart', like the one I did of Aditeya and Valoriea.

First Place
One extra character slot and two unique character ports, plus a complete set of the clothing they designed. Their clothing will be considered ULTRA RARE.

Second Place
One unique character port, plus a complete set of the clothing they designed. Their clothing will be considered VERY RARE.

Third Place
One simple character port, plus basic set of clothing they designed. Their clothing will be considered RARE.

Since I want to get as many ideas as possible for the site, there will be a lot of winners. Everyone whose design I like will have their clothing inked and coded into the site, and once sign-ups and the site is running, will get one piece of clothing from their design.

The Timeframe

Since this is a pretty hard time for everyone, with end of year and all that, I wanna make sure everyone has enough time to think of what they want to do.

I hate Summer

You know, I really don't get what people LIKE about summer. It's hot, sticky... hot... there's a lot of sun, it's dry... I hate the sun, I really do. I don't like sunbathing (my skin is too pale for it to be healthy), I hate the sand, and the ocean here is too cold, so I don't do swimming either (not to mention I dislike being in swimsuit).

A bunch of people ask me how I'll cope with Canada's extended, cold winter months. Mostly because I am really bad at extreme temps, and I get cold easily. But GAH I hate being hot! Heat nullifies me like Kryptonite does to SuperMan! I can't do anything but hibernate when the temp goes up and that's not productive at all!

I hate Paperwork too

So dad's been pulling my ear (over Skype) lately because I'm so slow in getting paperwork done. I gotta renew my passport, but University so they give me my title, go to the doctor, yadda yadda. My greatest problem for all this is it requires leaving the house.

That, for me, is an ordeal.

Doing regular-life stuff, the thing that is considered 'normal' for me is a nightmare. A nightmare that is augmented by heat and a shitty local transportation system.

So my dad's response is to get up earlier "like normal people". Heck when have I ever been normal? I frankly can't get up any earlier than 10am without a struggle, and if I did get up earlier, I'd be going out at rush hour, which means no seats on bus or subways, and being pushed and squished and probably mugged on my way to wherever it is I need to go.

So yeah, I hate summer... I hate paperwork too.

Christmas

Yeaah, I've been rather 'lazy' this year with Christmas presents for my friends. I try to chalk this up to all the changes, the being at my aunt's place and all that, but I still feel rather guilty. It's been really hard for me to concentrate on art here, mostly because the place I've got my computer set up is a tad uncomfortable, at least when it comes to using the tablet. This has been confirmed by a persistent pain in my neck, stretching to my right shoulder blade.

So I'll take the time now to say I'm sorry for the crappy gifts, and Raile, I think I'll be taking longer to get you that ULTIMATE PRESENT OF DOOM I promised you.

Just caught a hint of this project started by *colonel-strawberry and I think it's quite interesting and fun! I signed up, and am helping her spread the word to you guys! There's quite a lot of anthro/furry artists already on the list, so it looks like it'll be a fun christmas project that's a lot more original than the typical (though not terrible) Secret Santa.

New Journal CSS

I've been playing around with this image and made a journal CSS, very cool considering how hot it is here, but I wanted a non-Midgaria one for my non-Midgaria posts XD I have a version ready without Vita which I plan to upload as a free CSS template for those of you who want to use it. It's a very simple code and quite easy to use, specially for beginners.

End of Year

This end of year has been really strange for me, because of change of house and stuff. It's kinda weird not having one place you can call "home". For years now "home" as my tiny room at the back of a house, that I rented. But since I handed that over and am at my aunt's pace I feel more like a guest than a resident. It makes you feel... like you don't really belong.

And when I think of going to my dad's it's still the same, and even worse. At least here at my aunt's place I have a room of my own and privacy. I don't have a room at my dad's place, I sleep on a mattress on the floor of my sister's room. No privacy and I have to either share her computer or use my dad's laptop.

So yeah... I can't wait till I move to Canada and actually find a place for myself. Till then I feel like I'm floating. It doesn't help that I have no idea where I'll be for Christmas, or any of my vacation time either.

I need a separate css...

After two days of intensive labour I finished my Final Exam... the very last exam to finish my career. I'm pretty confident I did fine on it too! I was asked to re-make a website which needed a revamp (badly), and make a 20 second intro flash. Two days... two days of working pretty much nonstop, but it got done. I may have to take the impulse and make a similar revamp for Mystarseed next. I'll prolly upload a screenshot and the flash intro to my gallery for portfolio purposes but for now:

And yeah, I need a css for my own personal, non-Midgaria news... I'll see about coding that Pavel christmas one I think, this afternoon. I wanna make some free-use templates too, so others can use the coding.

Regarding Connection

I've now got my computer hooked up to the net, but share the modem with my aunt and cousin. So I'll be on much more, but not quite as much as I used to. At least till next weekend. I'm still not sure when I'm heading up north to my dad's for christmas.

Time's Up!

From now on, my internet access will be very restricted and not on my own computer. As a matter of fact, my computer isn't hooked up yet XP. I've moved from my usual place to an aunt's place. I'll rolly work on stuff for Midgaria offline though, so hopefully I'll have something to show whenever I manage to get online on my own comp (or find a flashdrive).

So don't expect much from me for a couple of weeks, possibly till next year. Hope everyone has a good holiday, and wish me luck in my house changing, packing and renreing my passports XD

I'll be travelling to Canada on the 12th of March!

Site's Up

Woo, So, here's a recap of what's new. I bought the domain name Midgaria.com and it's currently redirecting to a sub-folder on Mystarseed.com with a splash page. With two pretty links... one to the development forums and one to a chat room. Once you guys make an account at the forums be sure to post in the welcome thread so I can give you access to the development section, which isn't public.

I've been doing random sketches and stuff but haven't been able to do much development work, life's a bit complex atm. But I do have plenty of ideas for the site and how it works. What I need most right now is a good Main Coder for the site. I've got plans to enlist the owner of my hosting, and the one that runs Yggdrasilonline.net, but if that fails... well I'm in a bit of a bind. I could always rely on Laska but since she's running her own petsite, I'd like to give her the chance not to have to split her attention between two (or three) sites.

As you can see, I've also made a simple CSS journal for the site-related updates featuring Rimaki =3 Hope you guys like it, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the forum and chat!

RSI: Occupationa Hazard

It's really common among artists I'd say, but in my case I feel it's just a bit... easier to pop up due to me having EDS-3. Basically, when I draw too much, my arm/shoulder or hand palm start hurting due to muscle strain. Last time I had to stop drawing and using the tablet at all for three days and even grabbing a fork would be painful. This time around it's more my arm that hurts, the back of my shoulder burns from excess work.

I try to pace myself and keep good posture but it's hard when you spend around 17 hours a day sitting at the chair doing things on the computer. I use my tablet as a mouse usually, so I'm always in 'drawing' position as well. The past three days I've been pretty active on iScribble and that hasn't really helped. I've drawn more and more detailed than I usually do in a week, all in the space of 2-3 days.

Not that I'm saying that's BAD, it's been amazing practice and I feel I've improved a lot in a very short period. I'm working to get accepted as a regular member and all. But it has meant my shoulder's paid the price.

Well... hopefully if I take it easy for a couple of days it should get better. But I have two project images half-done on the site I want to finish up before the days stretch on. Though, my time is almost up now, and I still have a lot to get done XP

Petsite Ideas

Since Laska has started looking for people who want to help out and things seem to be moving faster than I expected, I'll try and write out what ideas I have so far concerning this petsite project. Everything is in diaper stages, but I'd appreciate it if our ideas aren't used elsewhere as it's taken us a lot of effort to keep things original.

The world and main plot of the site will revolve around the (simplified version) plot of Valhalla and Niflheim (and Midgar to replace the 'mortal' world). The site will be mostly RP and art oriented, with an ongoing plot. Of course everyone has the option to participate actively or not int he actual plots.

The pets will be the characters that can participate in the site. Initially our idea is that upon joining you can only make up to TWO characters, and then you need to gather (plot points?) experience on the site to open up more space.

Pets start out as babies, have a period of growth, which can be delayed by the user, and an optional final stage: Anthro. The anthro adults will have the ability to wear clothing, and will be kind of like the Gaia avatars, but flash-based, NOT pixel.

The pets will be fully customizable, with three base templates, furry, dragon, equine and bird. Each template will have different tails/ears and other add-ons to further customize them, as well as a wide variety of markings to add.

We still have to decide when/how clans/worlds are chosen for a character, as the various clans will have different requirements/perks, according to the pre-established characteristics that we've been designing, such as Blackhorns which have 2 sets of black horns or the Seraphs that have three sets of angel-type wings.

Things we Need

Things are still way too in initial stage right now, but so far I do see several things we'll be needing. For artist jobs, if you can work with Flash, then all the better, as most of the pet-related objects need to be vectorized in Flash to work with the pet-builders.

Artist for the equine and bird templates. (I'm terrible at horses and very inexperienced at birds) Hopefully able to make all stage bases and perhaps clothing/accessories.

Once the anthro bases are done, we'll need a lot of clothing ideas, so that characters have a wide variety to choose from. We'd need the version tailored to each of the four bases plus an item image (100x100 thumbnail).

Map and building artists. There are three primary worlds and various spaces on each, either for plot/RP purposes and for shops and games.

Character images, for shopkeepers, plot NPC's and other site characters.

Writers for:
* NPC Dialogues
* Item Descriptions
* Location Descriptions
* Plot Exposition (not usually the actual plots, I'd usually give an outline of a plot or event, and then the writers would transcribe to make it pleasant to read for players.)

Flash game and php game scripters.

Days Gone By - Procrastination

With end of year speeding up to meet me, time seems to fly by at an accelerated rate, that makes me realize just how much time I let go by in idle things. It's not that I've been totally unproductive but more like I've been idle in things a bit more geared towards moving on in life. I've been giving the excuse that I don't want to tie myself down here and want to move to Canada, but even the steps towards that goal have been slow in coming.

I've been getting very hyped up by working for petsites and with a few friends are outlining possible ideas for our own. It's a big undertaking but if it succeeds I could be that much closer to becoming independent and working for what I like to do the most. Right now I'm active at a fansite called Leopets, which isn't paid, thus there isn't much to be gained in financial terms. But... I see it as a playground for development for when we move on to our own, 100% original site. Wish me luck there, I'd really like to see it succeed, specially since I would be expanding the work I've put into the Niflheim/Valhalla worlds.

My countdown for end of year and the Start of my Life is two weeks.
