My first year at the Centre for Fine Arts is finally over! There were many a late night where I didn't think I would survive... But here I am, now able to give you a taste of what I've done. So far I've uploaded a good portion of what we did first semester and when I get the chance I'll finish photographing the second semester. Hopefully you'll all get an idea of how intense this program actually is by the sheer amount of work we had to do in such a short period of time.

AND once again, I've decided I want to change programs (3rd times a charm right?). I'll still finish the Fine Arts program but I want to go on to study Design. I'm undecided as to whether I want to go for a full degree or just finish with a diploma but that's a ways off so we'll see.

This should be a good summer; I'm really trying to be prepared for the Whyte Ave Art Walk this year. I've got my new business cards, I'm researching prints and will hopefully find a better way to utilize my sidewalk space. On top of that I have a few other promising ventures which I'll hopefully be able to share sometime in the near future.

Okay so it's been a while right? Well who the hell knew Fine Arts would be far more busier than Pre-Vet? Honestly though, it is crazy busy here. The amount of work needed to be done for each class leaves no time whatsoever for personal art enjoyment which, as you may or may not have noticed, is why I haven't submitted anything in forever.
I contemplated submitting work done in my drawing or design classes but decided against it. The majority of work we do is a little too technical and basic to post, I may make a few exceptions later on as I was quite pleased with some collage work we've done.
So I've decided to post my photography projects which I've thoroughly enjoyed. They're probably the closest thing to achieving personally inspired artwork I've done in school yet.
So far I've done portraits which were surprisingly harder than they look, urban structures which I had a lot of fun taking, conveying a sense of drama - I originally had wanted it so that you could see the "predator" in the grass still but, instead of seeing the "prey's" legs I wanted shadows of people walking in front of the "predator" holding up sticks to look like antlers..., and then there was still life - I personally think the idea of mice dining in your fridge is adorable.
Anyways I'm sure you'll see more photography as the school year goes on.
Oh! AND. Thank you so so so so very much to Trevor for helping with pretty much every single one of my projects. Photography would have been the death of me by now if it weren't for you

Alright! I just finished off with the Art Walk. As per usual I met quite the array of characters ranging from homeless drug addicts to the regular passerby to porn directors to the fellow artists. For the most part the weather was good to us poor starving artists and the weekend was thoroughly enjoyed. Each year something new is learned, hopefully by next year I'll have the perfect spot picked out, after all the the third time is the charm. I also need to invest in some flashy business cards instead of my horribly monochrome computer printoffs and prints. They seem to be the big money maker these days as not many would like to spend their money on an original painting. But mostly I needed a website where I could sell my work for a decent price. So people I give you my etsy shop; Itchy Hands! Which you can view here: [link]. The problem I encountered was that I do not put every single piece of my art on dA, so as I was handing out business cards I realised some of these people would not find what they were looking for. So to all of you that were at the Art Walk and are looking to invest *wink wink nudge nudge* you can follow the link provided. Or to any of you who have perhaps favorited a piece, you now have the option of hanging your favorite piece in your home!

In short everyone enjoy your summer and buy my art. Seriously. Do it: [link]

Holy Jesus! I have been ridiculously busy, shortly after taking on a second job I realised that art WAS my second job and the job I took on was therefore my third job. Genius, I know. Anywho, I had almost no time at all to do any art so I got out of that sitch real quick. And. Now. I have so much catch up to do! My piano recital is June 15th, I have submissions for a local art show due on June 2nd and I have to get ready for a local art walk mid July. And on top of that I have too many tattoos to design and a bunch of commissions. Honestly, I'm not sure how I'm going to get all this done. Ah well, everything always comes together last minute.

But the real reason for the update is that I got my portfolio submission back today! I'm officially 1 of 32 to be accepted into my program!!! I was (and still am) so excited I cried. I cannot wait to begin art school, as much as I wanted to be a veterinarian I definitely want to be an artist more.
Things are definitely shaping up...Well for the most part, haha but we'll leave that alone Well that's all for now folks!

Well this is pretty exciting! It took me over three years to get my first 1000 pageviews and in less than a year I've got another 1000. So thanks to all for stopping by, commenting, faving, etc. It's all very much appreciated.

In other news I'm getting a little more involved in the dA community and my local art community. If anyone is having trouble getting noticed around your neighbourhood see if there's any art clubs out there! Ours is great, they send e-mails about all sorts of opportunities available to you. Also here on dA, check the news regularly. As of late I've been entering alot of contests, a few in particular that have gotten me closer to the trad community. And I know when I'm totally at a loss I can check out the news for some sort of inspiration, even just entering a contest that gives you guidelines can get the ball rolling and break whatever block you might be facing. So go on and get involved, it's a lot of fun

And in much more depressing news the art program I wanted to get into turned down my first portfolio. Sigh. Although they did recommended me for a second submission. But! On the bright side I am seeing some of the my best work I've ever done bing produced, Lightbulbs and Butterfly Kisses is just the start. So just remember folks; take everything in the best of lights and work with what you've got.

Anyways. I realised that my whole tattoo design thing is going a little unnoticed. And do you know why? 'Cause I haven't actually followed up on a lot of the people who got their tattoos either that or they decided to go with something else. So. I've decided to upload a bunch of my designs just for funsies. You guys can let me know what you think.

Also.

Fire is still hard to paint...mainly because I haven't even attempted to finish the painting involving fire.

Post Script: I almost forgot. I'm officially a University drop out. I say screw Vet School and embrace Art School. Wish me luck :/
