I finally get back to coloring in Photoshop. It took me just as long as when I first did PS, i.e. too freakin' long.

I got my hands on a 'how to' book that was very helpful especially when it comes to brushes. I made a fire ember and webbing custom brush (really nifty stuff). Check out the book if you're interested: [link] d_ka_b_2_2/104-8084613-8505561

I was also recently informed that the latest Painter (#9) is heads and shoulders better than it's predecessors and even better for painting/coloring pictures than Photoshop. I think I'm gonna try it out myself since I hear the brushes for Painter is just phenomenon.

Read or Die is one of my favorite animes and I was stoked when I heard Cartoon Network was going to air it on cable. I'm normally not the type of anime fan who bitches about dubbing and subtitles (heck, I really don't care... I grew up watching poorly dubbed kungfu flics and enjoyed them immensely) but I can now understand why someone fans would bitch about dubbing:

Read or Die was one of the worst dubbing job I ever saw (and I’ve seen plenty, see above). It’s as if they hired freshman theatre majors to do the voice work, then told them convey as much cheese as they could through their voice. All the accents were off by miles and it’s as if they watched R.O.D. with the mute button on and just read the transcript. Quiet characters they made loud, loud characters they made blaring, and mysterious characters they made trivial.

I can really go on forever (or at least for a couple more paragraphs… at least one of which would be dedicated to my fanboy love of Yomiko Readman), but I’ll just conclude here: R.O.D. dubbed blows.
