I was on eBay a few hours ago looking at Dragon stuff when I something that made me laugh... a lot. I won't link directly to the item, but instead I'll link to a screen-shot I took of the listing page

Before you ask; Yes, this IS an actual eBay listing, on that went up only today. In fact if you look at the duration of the listing, and the time left when I took the screen-shots, you'll see that I found within about an hour of it being listed, and was one of the first to see it.

Funny thing is though, if the seller gave the item a fancy name and made up some BS about how it's got a secret hidden meaning that provides a real depth to the piece, then he could have probably entered it for the Turner Prize... and maybe even won XD

When Zombies Attack! A Mathematical Study

I was just browsing the BBC website when I came across this news report, Science ponders 'zombie attack'.

The report is about a research paper entitled "When Zombies Attack!: Mathematical Modelling of an Outbreak of Zombie Infection". As the title suggests the paper, written by Canadian scientists and published in a book called "Infectious Diseases Modelling Research Progress", ponders what would happen in the event of an outbreak of traditional Romero type Zombies.

In the report three methods of combating the undead are studied. The first being "Aggressive Quarantine", in which the area of infection is quarantined. In this scenario the report concludes that although quarantine could eradicate the infection over time, it is unlikely to happen in practise as the quarantine will most likely fail at some point, leading to infection spreading and resulting in humans being wiped out by the zombies. Basically, quarantine would only serve to delay the inevitable.

The second method studied is that of treatment, in which a cure is developed that results in a zombie being returned to live as a human, but is still susceptible to future zombification (IOW, the cure does not provide immunity to infection, it just reverses a current infection). In this scenario the report concludes an equilibrium would occur, in which humans survive (albeit in small numbers), but must live along zombies at risk of constant attacks.

The third method studies is that of "Impulsive Eradication", in which humanity controls the zombie population by strategically attacking them hard and often until there are none left. It is stated though that the longer the infection lasts, the more likely it is that the result would be a doomsday scenario. Thus "if zombies arrive, we must act quickly and decisively to eradicate them
before they eradicate us."

The overall conclusion of the paper is that "a zombie outbreak is likely to lead to the collapse of civilisation, unless it is dealt with quickly. While aggressive quarantine may contain the epidemic, or a cure may lead to coexistence of humans and zombies, the most effective way to contain the rise of the undead is to hit hard and hit often. As seen in the movies, it is imperative that zombies are dealt with quickly, or else we are all in a great deal of trouble."

Basically, as far as Science is concerned, if you see a zombie, you should grab your gun and blow it's head off!

Yup, I got back from my Gran's about 3 hours ago, and was greeted by 98 Deviations, 118 messages, and 7 notes, most of which (apart from the notes and RP replies) I just deleted Although I did quickly fav some of the deviations.

I had quite a fun time at my Grans, I got to see (and photograph) the Torbay Express being pulled by the Tornado, which is a Peppercorn Class A1 locomotive built in the UK in 2008... which technically makes it Britain's most modern train, as it's the most recent train to be built in the UK.

I've got plenty of other photo's of things such as the local swan family, a rather large peahen that decided to land in my Gran's driveway, and a small variety of other wildlife and even a few aircraft. In total I've uploaded 1222 photo's from my camera's onto the computer (although I must have deleted at least half that many over the last week too). Naturally I won't be uploading all of those photo's, but I will be uploading the best of them over the course of the week, starting with the ones I took of the Tornado.

When I wasn't out taking photographs I mostly spent my time watching films. Such as both the original and the remake of "War of the Worlds"... I preferred the original, the modern one was... well, kinda crap I also watched a film based off the Firefly series called Serenity, which I quite enjoyed. I think I might check out the series it was based off of at some point.

I also spent some time picking the blackberries that grow in my Gran's garden, washing the cars, and on the Friday I went with into the nearby town of Cullompton to do some shopping with my Mother, Gran and Uncle Alan at the Tesco supermarket. Most of the shopping was stuff my Gran and Uncle needed for themselves, all my mum and I were planning to get was some milk for ourselves ...
Alas, when you go into a supermarket intending just to get a few things, you ALWAYS leave spending more then you intended to. In this case I ended up getting a rather fun looking DVD called "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus"... Oh, and a brand new Â£380 Toshiba laptop ... Yeah

Anyway, that's pretty much all I have to say as of now. I'm gonna go catch up on my other online stuff, start sorting through my photo's, register my new laptop, get stuff installed on it and transfer junk from the old on onto it, etc, etc, etc. Before I do so though I would like to leave you with this video from that movie I bought, showing that when a shark takes a disliking to you, you're not safe anywhere, not even in the sky: [link]

Well, as you may recall I recently asked for recommendations of games to get for the N64. One of the recommended that I got was Banjo-Tooie.... And god-damn I love it Like the first game the game play is brilliant, but it's the addition of the mini-games that I really love. Playing Banjo-Tooie in First Person Shooter mode, in which you use Kazooie as an egg firing machine gun (or flame thrower/grenade launcher if you have the fire/grenade eggs) = EPIC WIN.

Another thing I like about this game is the innuendos that they managed to sneak past the censor board, such as the Honey Bee who trade you extra life for empty honeycombs that you collect "Toss you honeycombs over here, big bear" XD That's just wrong, but the best I've seen so far has to come from Jolly Rodger Lagoon level in which you meet a bar tender frog whose partner has been swallowed by a giant fish. He talks in a rather camp way, stands in front of a wall of barrels labelled "Ginger Beer" (cockney rhyming slang for Queer" and has a menu next to the bar which list the following meals for sale:

2: Toad in the Hole
3: Seaman's Surprise

And when you rescue the frogs partner (who looks like a transvestite) the innuendos continue when "she" thanks you, then tells you that it's "Grab a sailor night" every Wednesday, and that one doubloon will get you five tankards of "Seaman's brew" XD [link]

Anyway, this game, along with my long working hours this week, have meant I haven't ben online quite as much as usual. I do have the weekend off, but I'm so damn addicted to this game I'll probably be spending most of my time playing it... Also I've just bought a whole load of zombie DVD's that I need to watch. So yeah, if I'm not online much over the next few days, then you know why

Okay, although I've never been much of a gamer I've recently started getting back into console gaming, namely on the Nintendo 64. Thing is though I only have four games for the system, those games being:

GoldenEye007
Super Mario 64
Banjo Kazooie
and Lylat Wars (aka Star Fox 64)

I've also just purchased Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, both of which I'm awaiting the delivery of

Now, these fours games are great, but I'd like to try so new ones so I was just wondering if any of you guys know of any good games you could recommend to me, or of any bad games you recommend I avoid. The type of games I'm into are First Person Shooters like GoldenEye, and platform/action-adventure video game like Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie. I'm not really into sport or wrestling games so there's no need to recommend any of them.

42 Ways to Survive* a Zombie Outbreak by Tyrie2001

1. Shrug your shoulders and carry on as per normal as if nothing were happening, maybe the zombies wonÂt notice you

2. Kill the closest available person and use their corpse to distract the zombies while you make your escape, then steal a car and run over everything that moves

3. Lock yourself away in an underground facility, spend your time dissecting zombies, feeding the bodies of you friends to zombies, and trying to find a way to domesticate zombies

4. Steal a police car, drive around town with the blues and 2Âs going to draw them all out, and then lead them to the nearest petrol station and BURN THEM ALL TO HELL!

5. Barricade yourself in your home and hope the army will deal with it before your food and water runs out

6. Put your crossbow skills to good use by sniping zeds from the top floor window of your barricaded home. Alternatively, put your archery skills to good use by setting fire to groups of zombies with a flaming arrow. Best done from the roof of your home or a balcony

7. Blame the zombie outbreak on the fact that there must be no more room in Hell, and thus the dead have no other option but to walk the Earth, then enter a planning application with you local council to build an Hell an extension.

8. Hit the zeds hard and fast with a major, and I mean major, leaflet campaign, and while they're reeling from that, follow up with a Whist drive, a car boot sale, some street theatre and possibly even some benefit concerts. And if that's not enough, then it's time for the T-shirts! "Zombies Out!", "Brain-Eating Life Forms, No Thanks". If that's not enough, then I don't know what will be

9. Find salvation at the bottom of a whiskey bottle

10. Run out into the street shouting ÂI am a fishÂ over and over again in the hope the zombies will consider your brain to be damaged and therefore not worth eating

11. Pray for an army of angels to come down and kick some undead ass. If praying fails, grab a chainsaw and go out to kick some zombie ass. When the chainsaw runs out of fuel, grab a machete/fire axe and hack their heads off

12. Look in the local telephone directories to find the number of your local Zombie Hunter, then give him all your money and beg him to help you

13. Start crying and sobbing uncontrollably as you run around in circles screaming, maybe the zombies will take pity on you and spare you?

14. Go crazy with a bunch of Molotov cocktails/Acid Bombs

15. Get some friends together, arm yourselves with lances, flails, swords or axes, then and ride horses/ponies/sheep around town impaling/decapitating all the zombies that you can see. The one who kills the most wins!

16. Lure them into a pool then electrocute them (best done against Trioxin zombies)

17. Run, run, as fast as you can, they canÂt catch youÂ because theyÂre slower than an upside down turtleÂ unless they can run, in which case, flag down a taxi

19. Dissolve loads of Styrofoam in petrol to make a cheap substitute for napalm, and then use this to burn the zombies to ashes

20. Shove the zombies into a lake, and then depth charge them!

21. Retreat to an off shore oil rig to live out the rest of your life there

22. Fly about in a helicopter using the rotor blades to decapitated the zombies, and if you donÂt have a helicopter, use a shovel, or better yet, a shaolin spade to decapitate them

23. Strap a thermonuclear warhead to your head and nut the smeggers to death

24. Enrol in the navy and apply to become a submariner, that way when the zombies take over youÂll either be on a heavily armed warship, or safely tucked away onboard a nuclear submarine surrounded by nuclear armed cruise missiles!

25. Restore an old castle prior to the outbreak and stock it full of supplies so that when the sh*t hits the fan, youÂll be set for life. DonÂt forget to build a moat around it though that can be filled with home-made napalm or acid

Once upon a time, in a universe far far away (about 2 hours flight via transuniversal wormhole W25, turn off at junction 15) the was an Agony Aunt who worked for Irk3. One day he got completely drunk as a space skunk and couldn't go on the air, so the station called upon its most popular host Tjazz to fill in for him. Unfortunately she was halfway up a mountain and could help, so instead she suggested someone whom she had once interview, Octo the Tentacle Demon.

Figuring it would be a good way to kill half an hour Octo agreed, and after shedding a few dozen tentacles in order to fit through the recording booth door, he began his first ever appearance on the radio in a show they called "Ask That Guy with the Tentacles".

His first caller was a anonymous young lady who was concerned about her boyfriend being too sensitive. The conversation about which can be found here:

Who will the next caller be? And what problems will they be bringing before Octo? Well, this is all up to you, the viewers. If you have an OC with a certain problem, or one that wants to get something off their chest, then have them call in and talk to Octo about it. To have your OC talk to Octo, just note me explaining what it is they'd like to talk to him about. We'll then RP the call, and the transcript of it shall be sent to *Ravenpuff who will make it into a comic. It's as simple as that. You'll have to act quick though, as there's only four available slots, and they'll be assigned on a first come first serve basis.

Seems the spam comments may have spread to the notes now, as one of the people I watch ~Officer-1BDI recently got a Note from a random DA User saying that one of the comments she'd posted was hot, and could she please rate one of their mature pics *insert link that doesn't go to DA*

Could just be a random spammer, or it could be more attempts to steal users login data. She reported the note as spam and it was deleted from her inbox before she could make a note of where the link led too. Either way though, if you receive any notes similar to this, use the same caution you would use with the spam comments. IE- Hovering your mouse over the link to see it's location, asking the sender to explain where the link leads to, stuff like that

On Boxing Day I got myself a new computer, which arrived today, and after spending a few hours getting it set-up I got an Internet connection working! 8D

The computer in question is an ACER M3641 with the following Specifications and Windows Vista Home Premium installed.

Processor: IntelÂ® Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor (2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache)
Ram: 4GB DDR2 667MHz memory
Hard-drive 640GB SATA hard drive (7200rpm)
Graphics: NVIDIAÂ® GeForce 7100 graphics
Optical Drive: Blu-Ray Reader and DVD Rewriter combi

I also got a new monitor (Advent X19H 19" Widescreen Glass TFT) and Microsoft Office 2007, which brought the total cost of everything to about Â£606. Quite a bit, but I'm hoping it'll be money well spent ^^

Now, I've still got a lot of stuff left to install, and loads of things to update, so this as well as being a showing off journal, this is also a heads up to the people I'm currently RPing with to let them know that I may not be very active for the next few days, just while I get everything installed and what not.

Remember a while ago when the message center screwed up? Well, it seems to be happening again. New comments on deviations aren't being shown. Replies others have written to my posts aren't being shown. Notes aren't being displayed correctly in the Unread Note section. And messages I've already answered are reappearing hours after their automatically removed from the message center.

Yuuup, things are not going well at Fort Tyrie, not very well at all. This is a kinda complicated story... but please bear with me as I explain everything.

Last Thursday we had the gas men come around to perform scheduled maintenance on our gas fire... and within a few minutes they had condemned it because we had poison ivy blocking the air vents in the room, which meant there was a risk of lethal carbon monoxide build up taking place if we used the gas fire or central heating with our windows closed. So they shut off our gas supply to the living room.

Now by doing this though, we could no longer use the gas to heat our hot water immersion tank, fortunately it can also be heated via the electric... although due to problems reaching the on/off switch, it's been difficult doing this, so we've only been able to heat up the tank once or twice a day, which means we've not had a consistent hot water supply.

Today though we had some workmen come around at about 10am to remove the poison ivy... however, pretty soon we had our next door neighbour complaining about this because there are apparently house sparrows nesting in the poison ivy, which are protected under law due to them being an endangered species in England. After quite a while, and a visit from a senior member of West Devon Homes (our housing agency), the air vent was finally cleared though. Which means we could have everything turned back on right? ... Wrong.

You see, while using the electric to heat the immersion tank, we found our hot water was coming out very hot... as in, scolding/boiling hot, as if it were from a freshly boiled kettle. Now, not too long there was a family in Taunton who had similar problems to ours with regards to their hot water... but nothing was done about it... Shortly after the problems started, their hot water tank burst, and scolded their young daughter to death. To prevent a recurrence of this, councils and housing agencies have started fitting a new type of safety thermostat to hot water immersion heaters. Upon hearing of our problems, he immediately arranged for one to be fitted to ours. About 2 to 3 hours later a new set of workmen arrived to fit the safety thermostat... upon inspecting the tank though they discovered our immersion was so old, they could not actually fit it... they also found that part of the immersion was broken... literally (part of the covering came off the immersion, exposing live electrical wires that they've had to duct tape over)

So now before the safety thermostat can be fitted, we need a new immersion system fitted... which means tomorrow the workmen are going to have to come back and do that, then fit the new safety thermostat... which is also when the gas people are coming back to finish servicing the gas fire and reconnect our gas supply.

Now, in order for this work to be done, we're going to need to clear alot of stuff out of the living room... including the computer. As a result it's highly unlikely that I'm going to be online that much tomorrow, so those I'm currently RPing with should consider this as a "heads up". I'll be back online as soon as I can be, but once the workmen arrive they will probably be working in the living room for most of the day

Quite often I get asked at work why I spend so much time on the internet instead of going out to "see the real world".

Well, to those who ask me that, this is why:

A few days ago, on the the first day of the month, I'd been able to road tax my mum's car for her as a Birthday present. So yesterday, after work me and my mum decided to go for a short drive across the Moors, stopping to take a few photos... Now, on the way to the Moors the car was acting a bit weird. Mum was having problems getting it to pull away, and it keep shuddering every now and then, or as she put it "It's got Kangaroo petrol". Anyway, on the home it was acting okay... for a while, but shortly after we got into Tavy it started playing up again. We were tempted to take it straight home, but we needed to fill it up with petrol and check the air pressure in the tyre's, so we decided to chance it and go over to Morrison's (large supermarket with a petrol station on the outskirts of town). We got there, just about, although the car did stall as my Mum was parking it.

After doing a brief bit of shopping we shoved about 30 quids worth of petrol in it, checked the tyres, and pushed off for home. Now, in order to get home from Morrison's the were a few different routes we could take (that my Mum was familiar with).

One: Go back through town, and up the hill via either "Violet Lane" or "Down road"
Two: Go along "Pixon lane" and up the hill via "Down Road"
Three: Go to Whitchurch and then over the moors

The temporary traffic lights in town ruled out options one and two, as there were traffic queues going all the way back to Morrison's. So we chose option three. However, as we were leaving Morrison's the car started juddering, almost as if it were choked up. To try and clear it, Mum decided to ignore the Whitchurch turning, and drive out to Yelverton, then over to Roborough (where there's a long straight stretch where the speed limit is 60mph), so she could speed up to try and clear it. However, as we were getting into Yelverton, the car started shaking about as if it were possessed, and kept stalling.

Knowing that we were on the verge of breaking down, Mum tried to get the car to the nearest car-park. However, we didn't quite make it that far, and were forced to pull over onto a parking area on the Moors (The road leading right onto the Moors was the first turn off before the car-park).

One phone call to the AA, and about quarter of an hour later, we had a nice big shiny AA breakdown van turn up. At this point it was getting on for 3:15pm. After about an hour and a half the AA chap had a rough idea of what the problem was (it was taking a while because the car wouldn't stay running long enough for him to diagnose the problem). In his opinion, the problem was the Condenser... Unfortunately that was a part that the AA no longer carried spares of in their vans... and none of the garages they phoned had any in stock either. So what he decided to do was give us a lift home in his van, and call one of his buddies over to help him try and fix it (and due to a communications error, they almost sent two vans to help him!).

So, at about 5:00pm we eventually got home, and the AA chap left to get back to our car and meet up with his mate. A few hours later, at about 7:00pm(ish), we got a call from him saying that they'd fixed the car and they were bringing it back for us. YAY! 8D When he got back he drove the car over to our garage (a rented one a few streets away from our flat), parked it, locked everything up and brought the keys back to us, and when Mum spoke with him he told her the car was "driving like a dream" (Not bad for a 25+ year old car).

In total, the AA chaps had been working on the car for nearly four hours. So how much did we have to pay? Â£4 (the cost of the condenser including VAT). Cost if we'd have had to go to a garage? probably a hundred quid at least. (Moral: It pays to belong to the AA!!!).

So, to sum up. We left home at about 11:30am in a Volvo 360 GLS, hoping to be home by 3:00pm at the lates...

It happened a few hours ago at the Somerfield store I work at in Tavistock. As we going about our various jobs, a strange odor (almost like a BBQ) could be smelled coming from the Rotisserie/Deli department, and the store gradually starting getting a bit smokey. Seeing that some of the chickens sold on the Deli are BBQ flavour, everybody assumed that someone had overdone the chickens.

A few minutes later though, as I was going over to the Bakery fixture to top it up and see what needed baking, another staff member ran past saying that the Deli ovens were on fire, and within seconds the sound of fire extinguishers going off could be heard. I darted out back into the warehouse to see if there was anything I could do to help (the kitchen part of the Deli has a door leading through into the warehouse section of the store). When I got there there were already a few people standing nearby as the Supervisor was trying to put out the fire. As he moved onto the last of the three nearby CO2 fire extinguishers though he turned to us and told us to evacuate the store.

It took less then a minute to clear the store... unfortunately it was raining at the time so all the staff members had to wait under the shopping trolley shelter (we were gonna to go over the neighbouring pub... but it was closed ) About ten minutes later the fire brigade arrived, being greeted with cheers and clapping by all of the staff, who were actually enjoying everything quite alot (and seeing we were still getting paid, even though we weren't working, who can blame us). About twenty or thirty minutes later the fire brigade had put the fire out, and we were all allowed back into the store (although needless to say, we were advised not to cook any chickens for a little while).

After having a quick look at the damage to the Deli ovens, I went back to work on the Bakery, and things were going fine... the fire was out, the store was open, and I had just finished baking some bread... but then, just as I switched on our bread wrapper, half of the power for the Bakery went out (guess I must have blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker or something). The ovens and lights were still working... but the weighing machine, label printer, bread wrapper, and bread slicer were dead. Fortunately though these inconveniences didn't really effect me much, as I only had fifteen minutes of my shift left to work. (Although I'm not too sure the same could be said for the chap who was on after me )

But apparently, it seems that the problems on the Rotisserie and Bakery weren't the only ones to befall the store yesterday. It seems that the store has lost the use of it's home delivery van... because the people using it put petrol in it, which is quite bad seeing it runs on Diesel!

So yeah, definitely a quite interesting day at work. The Rotisserie got roasted, the Bakery got broken, and the Home Delivery Van died. So I guess it's true what they say, trouble does come in threes!

Yep, after a week of being in the shop, my computer is back home and I am back online, and have over 100 deviations, 100 messages and 2 notes to view/reply to. YAY! 8D

However... the guy in the computer shop was UNABLE to remove the virus! D8

As a result though I didn't have to pay anything, and seeing the virus is just a "harmless yet annoying Trojan" there shouldn't be any problems with the PC *cough*famouslastwords*cough*

I'm also happy to announce that due to the IWS (Internet Withdrawal Symptoms) I suffered, I'm now legally dead, so I no longer have to pay taxes! *is shot by the Inland Revenue*
