Plans for the new year are looking bright. I've had to take some time off for health issues but my previous projects are still alive, though possibly a bit altered. That being some childrens illustrations and some adult Vamp illustrations. New projects include major film work to be announced when all the contracts are signed. I'm excited! More to come on that. I also wanted to thank my watchers for all the support, critique and just for saying hello and chatting. So much talent.....it's inspiring to be around all of you.

With all due respect to the talented and worthy dA community, is there any way to possibly get away from conventional themes? I love and have participated in many a contest and have great respect for your work, vision and contribution, but there are so many of us out there, that when asked to come up with a theme for a contest, the same ones are always suggested. Holidays, seasons, zodiac, etc......This being the best online art community out there, I find it hard to believe that there are no completely original ideas to give to our valued stock artist/providers.

Question being....does anyone actually get their hands dirty anymore? With the onset of the Wacom tablet and Adobe CS being better than ever and even Corel offering some really good programs.... it just seems as though I'm not seeing a comparable amount of traditional illustrations as compared to "digital or speed painted" illustrations. I do love the digital media, and I respect the talent involved (I've faved many of your works), but even as rough as a pc can get....it still looks like an electronic version. I dont get that "feel" from them, as good as they look. It's all too smooth. I would like to try my hand at digital painting, other than what I already do in photo-manipulations, but it'll never compare to dipping a brush into a fresh pallet of new oil paints. Any takers? How many of you actually paint?

Working on a project thats had me a little stressed, since last April 08 to be exact. So many ups and downs. Lately I've been going down the wrong path with the visuals so I'm regrouping. Sometimes I wish I were psychic....but no such luck. So I do what I do best.....work in the 11th hour, back against the wall in a quiet room.......when I get the chance. First time around, I would imagine many successful endeavors didnt quite get it right. At least if an idea or visual is wrong, you know it's out there. Done. Out of the way, etc... So thats a good thing. Rallying the troops for artistic inspiration under fire is quite another...........but thats what I do. Am forced to do. Every day. At least as much as I can. Sleep and family time have to co-exist with trying to be creative when you're dead on your feet at 9pm. Usually the time I have to get started on my art, my ideas, thumbnails, painting, drawing. It's not easy. Especially when my partner in all this is many hundreds of miles away. The creative co-force. The ideas and the world. Hard to collaborate that way. But I go on. So much more riding on this than paintings and words. Integrity, respect and destiny, clichÃ© as it may sound, it's pretty much the truth. Just so damn tired right now.

I've heard this term, "speed painting" around dA for some time now. Apparently associated with just Photoshop. I'd love to know where I can find any tutorials on this, if any. I love the results as they're far more interesting that Photo-Manipulations, and I'd like to try my hand at it. They're just beautiful illustrations apparently done "just in PS"

Anyone?

I was thoroughly impressed with President Obama's acceptance speech today. Low key, but touched on all the key points without going too much one way or another. His African American heritage was mentioned but not thrust upon everyone. Muslims got a hand extended in friendship as well as every race, religion and country. Strength militarily and concerning economy had a say.

Change wont happen right away......but this was good to see.

I'm not understanding something thats going on with dA lately. Now let me start by saying that I in no way am any kind of a prude. Porn...I can take it or leave it and nudity doesnt bother me in the slightest and I think it has a place in art in many different fashions.
BUT.....dA is slowly becoming a wasteland for rejects to come on here, post a few 2 second blurry crotch shots and call it art. Female spread shots entitled "I'm a dirty girl" and endless snapshots of some guys pathetically small penis with titles like "at rest" "winky" & "friendly".....whatever....I know artistic nude and I'm a fan of it and erotica but this endless parade of look at my crotch belongs on adultspace or some other porn forum. Its not art. Its a joke and its getting old. I dont mind if anyone shows their body but for god's sake be creative with it!

I'm keeping myself busy on and off my Mac, but as far as photomanipulations go, this is just another tease.

If anyone is familiar with the classic show, "The Twilight Zone" hosted by Rod Serling then you may be familiar with the groundbreaking paranoia episode starring William Shatner called "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet". The tale goes that he's on an old prop airliner and suddenly sees a gremlin type of creature on the wing of the plane trying to sabotage the engine. He's the only one who sees it and the tension builds throughout the episode. One of my favorites.

This will be posted soon.

It took authorities several days to analyze the remains, and some tests are still being completed. Some of the bones were as small as a pebble and had been scattered, and the fragments were hard to find by excavators who searched on their hands and knees, authorities said. The bone fragments did not reveal any trauma before death, Garavaglia said, but exactly what happened to the girl remains a mystery.

ÂBottom line is, folks, no child should have to go through this,Â said Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary.

A search team said they did not check the wooded area sooner because it was submerged in water. Beary said his department was investigating reports that the utility worker who called in the tip leading to the discovery of the remains had tried several times in August to call in his suspicion about a bag in the area.

Mother hears news from jail chaplain
Casey AnthonyÂs attorney, Jose Baez, was with her at the Orange County Jail shortly after she found out the news from a jail chaplain, said Todd Black, a spokesman for the attorney. She was notified about 15 minutes before the news conference about the positive identification. Black said he wouldnÂt comment on her reaction.

A message left for the attorney representing George and Cindy Anthony, CaseyÂs parents, was not immediately returned.

The case captivated the community where the little girlÂs family lived, and Caylee has been a staple on national news as her mother and grandparents pleaded for tips, promising that the girl was still alive.

CayleeÂs grandmother first called authorities in July to say she hadnÂt seen the girl for a month and her daughterÂs car smelled like death.

Troubling details
Police immediately interviewed Anthony and soon said everything she told them about her daughterÂs whereabouts was false. The baby sitter was nonexistent and the apartment where Anthony said she had last seen Caylee had been empty for months. Anthony also lied about where she worked, they said.

Other troubling details emerged: Photos surfaced of Anthony partying after her daughter went missing. Friends said she was a habitual liar, but also a good mother.

Last month, the Orange County State Attorney turned over almost 800 pages of documents showing someone used the AnthonysÂ home computer to do Internet searches for terms like Âneck breakingÂ and Âhousehold weapons.Â

In mid-March, someone searched Google and Wikipedia for peroxide, shovels, acetone, alcohol and chloroform. Traces of chloroform, which is used to induce unconsciousness and a component of human decomposition, were found in the trunk of Casey AnthonyÂs car during forensic testing, the documents say.

I'm getting irritated lately. Erotica is an art form, artistic nude is an art form, pin up is an art form...but since when is it an art form to just take a picture of your crotch? From every different angle with a shit camera phone? I know artistic nude when I see it. I know when some passion and care are involved. I know art. I do it for a living, night and day. I'm a fan of the nude form, male and female.....but jesus h, give me a break. So many random males are coming on this site, putting up pages so they can take pictures of their dicks and add stupid titles to them. Its insulting. This isnt xpeeps or adultspace or any other adult forum where thats expected. This is da for Christ's sake! Deviant art! Not just deviant advertise my junk in photos I took of it in the bathroom to get a thrill from other idiots who are here for the same thing forum. Riddle me this...How is pulling down ones pants and taking a snap shot of yourself peeing......art? ...or artistic? In any way, shape or form.....how does that rate? Seriously.....I reported some sick bastard who took pictures of himself up close, peeing. Nice. Clap fucking clap. You are to be admired sir for you are the "Piss Laureate" of the art world.

Bettie Page, a legendary pinup girl whose photographs in the nude, in bondage and in naughty-but-nice poses appeared in men's magazines and private stashes across America in the 1950s and set the stage for the sexual revolution of the rebellious '60s, died Thursday in Los Angeles. She was 85.

Her death was reported by her agent, Mark Roesler.

Page, whose popularity underwent a cult-like revival in the last 20 years, had been hospitalized for three weeks with pneumonia and was about to be released Dec. 2 when she suffered a heart attack, said Roesler, of CMG Worldwide. She was transferred in a coma to Kindred Hospital, where she died.

In her trademark raven bangs, spike heels and killer curves, Page was the most famous pinup girl of the post-World War II era, a centerfold on a million locker doors and garage walls. She was also a major influence in the fashion industry and a target of Senator Estes Kefauver's anti-pornography investigators.

But in 1957, at the height of her fame, she disappeared, and for three decades her private life Â two failed marriages, a fight against poverty and mental illness, resurrection as a born-again Christian, years of seclusion in Southern California Â was a mystery to all but a few close friends.

Then in the late 1980s and early '90s, she was rediscovered and a Bettie Page renaissance began. David Stevens, creator of the comic-book and later movie character the Rocketeer, immortalized her as the Rocketeer's girlfriend. Fashion designers revived her look. Uma Thurman, in bangs, reincarnated Bettie in Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction," and Demi Moore, Madonna and others appeared in Page-like photos.

There were Bettie Page playing cards, lunch boxes, action figures, T-shirts and beach towels. Her saucy images went up in nightclubs. Bettie Page fan clubs sprang up. Look-alike contests, featuring leather-and-lace and kitten-with-a-whip Betties, were organized. Hundreds of Web sites appeared, including her own, BettiePage.com, which had 588 million hits in five years, CMG Worldwide said in 2006.

Biographies were published, including her authorized version, "Bettie Page: The Life of a Pin-Up Legend," (General Publishing Group) which appeared in 1996. It was written by Karen Essex and James L. Swanson.

A movie, "The Notorious Bettie Page," starring Gretchen Mol as Bettie and directed by Mary Harron for Picturehouse and HBO Films, was released in 2006, adapted from "The Real Bettie Page," by Richard Foster. Bettie May Page was born in Jackson, Tennessee, the eldest girl of Roy and Edna Page's six children. The father, an auto mechanic, molested all three of his daughters, Page said years later, and was divorced by his wife when Bettie was 10. She and some of her siblings were placed for a time in an orphanage. She attended high school in Nashville, and was almost a straight-A student, graduating second in her class.

She graduated from Peabody College, a part of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, but a teaching career was brief. "I couldn't control my students, especially the boys," she said. She tried secretarial work, married Billy Neal in 1943 and moved to San Francisco, where she modeled fur coats for a few years. She divorced Neal in 1947, moved to New York and enrolled in acting classes.

She had a few stage and television appearances, but it was a chance meeting that changed her life. On the beach at Coney Island in 1950, she met Jerry Tibbs, a police officer and photographer, who assembled her first pinup portfolio. By 1951, the brother-sister photographers Irving and Paula Klaw, who ran a mail-order business in cheesecake, were promoting the Bettie Page image with spike heels and whips, while Bunny Yeager's pictures featured her in jungle shots, with and without leopards skins.

Her pictures were ogled in Wink, Eyeful, Titter, Beauty Parade and other magazines, and in leather-fetish 8- and 16-millimeter films. Her first name was often misspelled. Her big break was the Playboy centerfold in January 1955, when she winked in a Santa Claus cap as she put a bulb on a Christmas tree. Money and offers rolled in, but as she recalled years later, she was becoming depressed.

In 1955, she received a summons from a Senate committee headed by Senator Kefauver, a Tennessee Democrat, that was investigating pornography. She was never compelled to testify, but the uproar and other pressures drove her to quit modeling two years later. She moved to Florida. Subsequent marriages to Armond Walterson and Harry Lear ended in divorce, and there were no children. She moved to California in 1978.

Funeral services will be Tuesday with a private service and burial at Westwood Cemetery a few feet away from her blonde sex icon counterpart, Marilyn Monroe.

Pinup Bettie Page hospitalized after heart attack

LOS ANGELES Â Bettie Page, a 1950s pinup known for her raven-haired bangs and saucy come-hither looks, was hospitalized in intensive care after suffering a heart attack, her agent said Friday.

"She's critically ill," Mark Roesler of CMG Worldwide told The Associated Press.

He said the 85-year-old had been hospitalized for the last three weeks with pneumonia and was about to be released when she had the heart attack Tuesday. Page was transferred to another hospital in Los Angeles and remained in intensive care Friday.

A family friend, Todd Mueller, said Page was in a coma. When asked to confirm, Roesler said, "I would not deny that," but he would not comment further on her condition.

Page, a secretary turned model, is credited with helping set the stage for the sexual revolution of the rebellious 1960s. She attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure that were tacked up on walls across the country.

Her photos included a centerfold in the January 1955 issue of then-fledgling Playboy magazine, as well as controversial sadomasochistic poses.

Page later spent decades away from the public eye, and during that time battled mental illness and became a born-again Christian.

After resurfacing in the 1990s, she occasionally granted interviews but refused to allow her picture to be taken.

Mueller credits his business dealings with Page for bringing her out of seclusion. He said he first met her in 1989 when he offered her "a bunch of money" to show up at autograph signings.

"I probably sold 3,000 of her autographs, usually for $200 to $300," he said. "Eleanor Roosevelt, we got $40-$50. ... Bettie Page outsells them all."

I could give a rat's ass about Sarah Palin's hacked e-mail account. This country is nauseating when it comes to election time. Partisan or bi-partisan.....I could care less about the plethora O' ads that trash one candidate here or there and try to sway the masses. Why should I give a shit if Sarah Palin is using a personal e-mail account for state business? Big deal! Wouldnt it be worse if she were using a state account for personal business? It wont matter on my death bed....seriously. ..
.....and the kicker behind this and any political rant I may conjure up for your enjoyment? The Electoral college! Anyone who's up on their current events knows that basically Gore was elected by the popular vote 2 terms ago, but those wonderful fictitious "electoral" votes that are archaic and were obsolete decades ago...deemed it proper and necessary to make "W" our fearless leader. Why even vote? It may not even matter. Let me bring this radical idea of just basing the presidential election results on the "popular vote". I know, I know......you're saying this artist is crazy....we cant think for ourselves, we cant handle actually choosing someone without patting a goats ass, turning around in a circle 3 times and spitting in the neighbor's crops for good luck.
.....it just astounds me that we cant base the most important election in the world on what "We The People" want. There's electoral votes and delegates and super delegates and primaries and a caucus here or there........that dont mean a damn thing.
..basically, you know what'd impress me? A candidate who got out there, campaigned their backside off and was so passionate about helping and preserving the US, that they didnt care about being politically correct. I want a president that would look at what Bin Laden did or who Saddam was, get on TV and say Fuck you. Fuck the sandbox you live in, fuck the way your people are treated because of you, fuck your ridiculous neanderthalic ways of treating women and fuck you for getting on that bus and blowing little children to bits. Fuck you......plain and simple.
....So.....when it comes to Sarah Palin and her e-mails.......I say..........Fuck you. I dont care. Why dont we share a story about a homeless mother and her children that finally got off the street? About the good samaritan that jumped in front of a moving car gave his life for a child? Why not talk about art and music and of all things......people not trashing eachother? Where's that on the campaign trail or on the evening news without it being the token tear jerking, human interest story before the news ends for the night so we dont have to go to bed dreaming about the way we saw the butchery of dolphins and pigs in the slaughter houses or how a kind, good man just killed his family and then his neighbors and then his fucking chihuahua before he of course turned the gun on himself and didnt let justice do it for him. Thank god we saw that last minute story about the daffodil festival. God I feel good about the world now, dont you? Sleep well knowing that big brother just diapered your ass, read you a bedtime story and lulled you off to sleep while all the while insulting your intelligence with ads about new and improved and lemon freshened borax that will clean the hell out of those unsightly blemishes that you'd be taking to the opening of the 9 billionenth Starbucks.

You know, I may not have liked what Bill Clinton did and I wouldnt vote for him again, but he was a hell of a president. The nation thrived as he got head from Monica. Nuff said.
..I'd run for office if I could.....but god forbid someone would have to dig and find out that I was in a band back in day, that I read subversive and dark books and that I looked at porn from time to time.........but at least I'm real......and I care.

Last time I checked.............thats what counted. Caring. Actually.......caring.

...and that doesnt need to be new and improved......it just needs to exist.
