a few things to remember should you ever decide to visit our fair city:

1. You must learn to pronounce the city name. It is "TULL-SUH" and it does not matter how people pronounce it anywhere else.

2. Tulsa has its own version of traffic rules. Never forget that downtown Tulsa is composed entirely of one way streets. The only way to get out of the center of town is to turn around and start over when you reach the river.

3. All directions start with, "Go down Memorial."

4. Memorial has no beginning and no end.

5. The 8:00am rush hour is from 6:30 to 9:30am. The 5:00pm rush hour is from 3:30 to 6:30pm. Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning.

6. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you cannot be from Tulsa. If you don't slow down at a yellow light, you are from Tulsa.

7. Sapulpa Road can only be pronounced by a native, so do not attempt the phonetic pronunciation. People will simply tilt their heads to the right and stare at you.

8. The falling of one snowflake causes all traffic to immediately cease. Fortunately all schools, businesses and city government close when theword snow is mentioned. (Some of us who work for the City of Tulsaknow this rule is not entirely true.)

9. Construction on the Broken Arrow Expressway is a way of life and a permanent form of entertainment. In fact, construction on the BA will not be completed in your lifetime.

10. Many bizarre sights can be explained simply by uttering the phrase, "Oh, we're on Brookside."

11. Construction crews aren't doing their job properly unless they close down all lanes except one during rush hour.

12. Using your turn signal is a sign of weakness. If someone actually has their turn signal on, it was probably left on at the factory where the car was made.

13. The only city where a church of 2,500 members is considered a small, but quaint church.

14. What you need to know when arriving at the Airport: Your arrival gate is at least 32 miles away from the Airport parking. Walking shoes are advised.

15. Never honk your horn at another car in traffic. Native Tulsans don't like that. The bumper sticker that reads "keep honking, I'm reloading" is considered a fair warning.

16. Exit and entry ramps on the expressway are just the recommended way of entering and exiting, feel free to exit at any grassy point you wish. Everybody does.

17. 90% of drivers trying to make a left turn on Harvard, Yale, or Sheridan are actually attempting suicide. Stay out of their way.

18. Those orange traffic cones are considered by many citizens to be the designated "City Tree" of Tulsa. They are replaced, however, after nine or ten dents.

19. Remember that you may be rear-ended if you decide to yield at a "Yield" sign.

20. Be sure to take something with you to read while waiting in the 45 minute line at any of our convenient, efficiently run Post Offices.

21. Riverside drive is a beautiful drive. It covers the heart of Tulsa. The speed limit varies. As well, you might have some stop lights, sharp curves, and a police station, but does that stop us from driving 65+? Nope!

22. And, as always, for any extra information, you may stop at one of our lovely 2,397 QuikTrips, WalGreens, Albertsons, or Blockbusters for directions.

so... after months of quiet discomfort--on both our parts, as it turns out, not just mine--i finally confronted my boyfriend of two years and nine months about my unhappiness. and, to make it short, we very quietly, very...amiably, very mutually... decided to go our separate ways. our apartment lease is up at the end of October, and he'll be moving back to Texas, where all his family is. strangely, it's not awkward with both of us still living here. our relationship had basically degenerated from being a couple to that of a friendship, anyway. so, nothing will really change from how things have been the past six or eight months, except that now, neither of us feels any animosity toward the other. not now that we finally just got it out in the open. since we realized, we've just grown apart. i told him i still care a lot about him, and he said the same of me.

i thought i would be more upset if it came to this. but it's more of a relief. no more lonely misery, walking on egg shells, and secretly resenting him. all of that is suddenly gone. i want him to be happy, and he wasn't happy anymore. and neither was i. it just happens sometimes. and it's nice to know that two people can just... realize that. no one is walking away from this hurt. there are no hard feelings, and there won't be any later.

yes. a relief.

I saw a photo featured in the populars the other day that I neglected to "fave." I would like to ask the photographer something, but I have searched and searched, and I cannot find that photo for the life of me. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. It was a split dual portrait of a young man and a young woman. The young man had two piercings in his lower lip. The young woman was looking at the camera over her shoulder. She had long reddish hair and tattoos on her shoulders and back. One tattoo was a robot with a heart on its chest. She had stars on her shoulder blade, and on her right arm was a tattoo involving dice, cards, flames, a four leaf clover, and a swallow.

I know this isn't much to go on, and I wish I could be of more help, but if anyone recognizes this portrait from my description, I would be most grateful if you could point me toward the photographer's page.

<3
sugar

Peeve of the Day: If there's one thing you can count on, it's that there's always something pissing me off.

<img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/b/bulletgreen.gif" width="10" hei...

Becaue I's bored.

Have you ever been so tired that even though you're hungry, the thought of food makes you nauseated? I stayed up all night working on a lit paper examining Ginsberg's "Howl" and how it is a response to Whitman's Song of Myself." Like, really. All night. I started working on it around 8 p.m., knowing full well I would need to be in bed by midnight to get even a semblence of rested sleep, and also knowing it would take me much longer than four hours to write. Two hours went by, and around ten o'clock, I had a fabulous introductory paragraph. I pretty much realized and resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't be sleeping more than a couple hours, so I might as well go all out and stay up all night.

It's kind of liberating when you decide you're just going to stay up all night. You stop worrying about how long it's going to take you to write your paper and how much sleep you're going to get (an estimated guess since I rarely fall asleep the exact second my head hits the pillow) versus how much you're going to lose. You can now write your paper properly instead of rushing through it just so you can catch a cat nap before you have to get up. I finally got into the swing of my paper around eleven p.m., and I finished around 4 a.m. Now, I have to get up at 5:30 a.m. so I can catch the 7 a.m. bus to my school's main campus in Stillwater, about an hour-fifteen's drive from where I live. So, at 4 a.m., there's little point in going to sleep anyway. So, I took a slow, leisurely shower and played Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the X-Box 360 untill 6 a.m. when I had to get dressed/make-upped to leave.

I was quite cranky by this time, of course. My boyfriend kept hovering around outside the bathroom, waiting for me to finish my routine at the bathroom counter even though our bathroom is huge for an apartment and there is plenty of room for both of us. Irrationally annoying.

My right knee hurts like hell because I didn't sleep. My knees hurt when I don't sleep. Not sure why, except that my body just doesn't get the rest it needs, I guess.

Am currently sitting in the student union building in Stillwater, contemplating getting up to get some milk (stomach-coating; may help nausea). But if I do that, I will have to pack up the lap top and bring my backpack with me, thereby losing my table, and it is late enough that I will not be able to get another table if I give this one up. Leaving belongings at table is not an option. Suppose will wait for class time to roll around and get milk on way to class.

Oh dear. Have reverted to pronounless style of diary-writing a la Bridget Jones. Is both quick and lazy. Must be v. tired.

Find attention lapsing. Lots of people wear orange here. Granted, orange and black are school colors. Mascot is not Tiger, though. School team is OSU Cowboys. Surprise.

Lots of tall people go here, too. Is a wonder basketball team is not better.

They didn't play a lot of my favorites like "For Boston" and "Forever" and "Good Rats." But the experience was still far better because I enjoyed myself more. I made it to the front row! I got elbowed all night long and my feet hurt from being stepped on and crowd surfers landed on my head and I got kicked in the face once or twice, but it was a blast. And since I was in the front row, I could kind of watch the security guard stationed in front of me, and every time he looked up and put his hands up, I knew he was preparing to catch a crowd surfer and I knew to duck and cover (I can't catch crowd surfers; bad wrists).

I got to touch Ken Casey, too. He's the only original band member left in the band. I mean, that's like touching Jesus!

My ears are still ringing the day after and I feel hung over even though I didn't drink. It was a good night.

(Dropkick Murphys* in Oklahoma City**)

This is some BULLSHIT.

I have drafted the following letter to Rep. Mayhall.

"Representative W.T. Mayhall, Jr.:

I am shocked and appalled by your proposition of House Bill 282. What this bill proposes is discriminatory as well as abusive, and is certainly a violation of personal privacy. This bill is nothing more than veiled prejudice. It is not designed to help anybody. Targeting the fat population of Mississippi for humiliation and for psychological and physical abuse is in no way helpful or motivational, and it certainly is not civil.

The proposition of Bill 282 is reminiscent of racial and religious segregation. What is next? Will you separate fat children into special weight management facilities veiled as schools in order to "promote their good health?" Will you promote the extraction of fat children from loving households because their parents saw to their nutritional needs and, as a result, the children got fat?

Obesity is not a disease and it does not need to be "cured." And it certainly does not need government intervention. Most often, when people reach or surpass the government standard of obesity as set by Body Mass Index, it is not a result of irresponsible lifestyle. Fat is a natural body component and the amount of fat on a person's body relies largely on genetics. Certain groups of Americans that hail from ethic backgrounds tend to naturally accumulate more fat than what is considered "appropriate" or "healthy" by BMI standards. Examples include African Americans, Hispanics, Polynesians, and others. Fat is not indicative of health. Cholesterol, glucose levels, blood pressure: these are indicative of health, and often times have nothing to do with fat percentage.

The bottom line is this: The government has no sovereign right over my body. My body is not government property. I and every fat person in this country deserve to be treated with all the respect and obliged all the rights afforded to thin people. And I will eat out in public whenever I damn well please."

Peeve of the Day: If there's one thing you can count on, it's that there's always something pissing me off.

<img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/b/bulletblue.gif" width="10" height="10"...

No really. Even if you're not looking at it as an answer to C.S. Lewis and Narnia (which I also enjoy and, even though it is thick with Christian symbolism, do not look at as Christian "propaganda"), it's a good film.
The film takes place in a parallel world where the souls of humans do not live inside their bodies, but in the forms of animal companions forever at their sides called daemons. A person's daemon may change form when they are children, but as they grow up and settle, their daemon settles, too. The boyfriend and I had fun deciding what forms our daemons would take. We decided that mine would probably be a bear of some sort. Maybe a small black bear. The boyfriend's, we decided, would be an otter. Or, I decided, really. xD

"You're an otter!"
"What?"
"An otter!"
"Why?"
"Because!"

Good fun.

Or maybe, just maybe, there never was one.

Check it out: [link]

The obesity epidemic is a joke. And not the funny kind. It's the "government/media/diet inductry is trying to manipulate me" kind.

I have always found JFS to be a considerably credible source. Unlike AOL News or Yahoo News or Hotmail News, etc., they cite their information. They don't pull statistical figures and sources out of their assholes. They don't use scare tactics to manipulate their readers.

I read on a forum over at Big Fat Blog (www.bigfatblog.com) that a government food assistance program--in Kentucky, I think--will no longer support the purchase of whole milk for children over the age of 3, "because it leads to obesity." They must purchase reduced fat or skim milk instead. Are you kidding me?!

So that prompted me to post the above link to JFS to try and spread the word a little, get some more credible information out there other than "WE ARE THE FATTETS COUNTRY IN THE WORLD AND WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIIIIEEEE."

So, go have a look. Read some facts. Do some research. Don't believe everything you read online or see on T.V. And think for yourself.

I know, it has been a while. Maybe I've been too pissed off to post? No? *shrug* Worth a shot. I'll give you guys two (2!) to make up for missing a few weeks. Here we go.

Peeve of the Day for November 21, 2007: Department stores that start decorating for Christmas before Thankgiving has even happened.

Yes, I know that they want to capitalize as much as they POSSIBLY can on the winter holiday season. And I think that's what pisses me off so much. Many people complain that X-mas has turned into a commercialized, bells-and-whistles, all-about-the-materialism, I-can't-believe-I-only-got-twelve-presents-this-year dog and pony show.

And with good reason. Because it has.

So it just grates my nerves when I walk into a large store (any store: Dillards, Macy*s, JC Penny, Wal-Mart, Target, etc etc) and it's only November 1st, and they have X-mas trees and garlands up and you can hear carols over the PA system.

And while we're on the topic of X-mas and stupidity...

Second Peeve of the Day for November 21, 2007: SKINNY. SANTA.

Apparently, the fact that Santa is fat is a huge problem. He's setting a terrible example for kids because he's fat, and he isn't doing everything he possibly can NOT to be fat. WHAT THE FUCK. Selfish bastard, right? Not thinking of the example he's setting for all those kids who want to be JUST LIKE SANTA CLAUS. Because I know at least 500 kids who want to be Santa when they grow up, and THAT is one of the major contributions to childhood obesity in this country.

Give me a fucking break. I will not take my hypothetical some-day kids to sit on the bony lap of some anorexic department store Santa who, by the way, I heard is not allowed to say "Ho ho ho" anymore, because it's DERROGATORY to women. He is to say "Ha ha ha." Can I have another WTF please?

*pickets* Leave Santa alone you blood-sucking, commercial, fat-phobic, image-conscious pricks!

So, me and the guys (my group of friends is made up primarily of guys--which is one reason why it's so hard to think up guy names for characters without running into a name of a guy I know) decided to try out this coffee house on Brookside. Brookside is a trendy strip near the river where there are restaurants, bars, artsy shops and galleries, a tattoo parlor, that sort of thing. It's a place we don't go often, except to one specific restaurant, so when Derek suggested we try out a trendy coffee house called Shades of Brown, we decided, "Why the hell not," even after Adam told us his brother (who is trendily tattooed, pierced, and dredded) went there, and he was under-pierced and over dressed.

Well, we got there, and the moment I walked in, I started getting the feeling that if I made any sudden movements, one of the coffee kids in there might try to slit his own wrist with a biscotti.

We chose to sit outside.

While we were hanging out around our Prague Mochas and our Caramel Hazelnut Frappes, we got to talking about the Web. No, not the internet. The Web.

Here's how it works.

Think about your group of friends. Now think about who in your group of friends you've slept with. Made out with. Kissed for more than 30 seconds. Now think about who that person has had sex with. And then that person. And so on.

It's like the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Modified! Go on, give it a try. It's kind of fun, and you'd be surprised how intricate The Web can get. You.. might be a little disturbed, too, when you find out who you're linked to in The Web through other people. *snerk*
What's even more fun is laughing at your pals because of who they're linked to.
Unless you're a dude, and gay.

So, here's the deal. I'm having trouble coming up with a name for an antagonist character in my Phae/Ana story stuffs. The name is for a character who, as of right now, is only ever referenced. I tentatively have no plans to bring him actively into the story. It is Ana's ex-husband.

He has gone through about sixteen name changes, and NONE of these names seem just... right. You know? They aren't contemptible enough, or they're the name of someone I know, and I don't know. I have a thing about using names of people I know in real life. I could use the name of my real Ex that I have some seething resentment toward, but that's weird. Don't want.

So... I need your help. What are some names of people you just... hate? Names that bring out the seething resentment in you? Names that make someone easy to hate. You know what I mean? They don't have to be Exes necessarily, I suppose. So, in retrospect, this could be for anyone to answer. But I am looking for male names, specifically.

I am open to suggestions. I NEED suggestions. HALP!

So, I was over at a friend's house tonight along with some other friends, and we were all watching the animated feature The Death of Superman. In it, Lex Luther (voiced by James Marsters ((Spike!)) gets a hold of a single drop of Supe's blood, and with this single drop of blood, he is well on his way to harvesting an army of Superman clones. He has what looks like hundreds of cloning tubes filled with different stages of developing clones. In a large portion of them, there are fetuses. Which lead to only one of the most controversial jokes of the evening:

What's faster than a speeding ultrasound? More powerful than an epidural? Can leap tall placentas in a single bound?

It's Super Fetus!

Super Fetus's only weakness is wire coat hangers.

"Wait! Did she just...?" Oh, yes I did... D:

Other inappropriate jokes were made, including many at the expense of Aquaman and his sexuality (no, Aquaman does not appear in the feature, but he should have) and Lex Luthor's questionable relationship with Supes.

But I'll stop there so as not to spoil anything else for anybody.

We then proceeded to watch 1408, which is a fan-fucking-tastic movie for the following reasons:

1. It fucks with your head.
2. It's totally fun to say at which points in the movie you would personally hurl yourself out the window of that "evil fucking room."
3. Samuel L. Jackson is a creepy, sadistic motherfucker.
4. John Cusack is brilliant.

So, yeah. Just a week and a half after they finally fixed my fridge, the faucet in our bath tub fell off the wall. FELL OFF. So, the boyfriend called maintenance from his work, but we both decided it best if I just went to Wal-Mart to get some tub and tile caulk and put the fucker back on there myself. And I did. I can caulk a faucet! Fuckin' thing better stick on there this time...

So fed up with this place. The garbage disposal, the fridge, and now the tub have all broken in some way, shape or form. I'm just waiting for our gas range stove to blow up so I can come home one day to a huge flaming hole where my apartment used to be a la Edward Norton in Fight Club.

So we're looking for a new place to live. If anyone knows of a good website I can go to that has reliable apartment reviews, I would appreciate a link.

Peeve of the Day for September 7, 2007: Incompetent Apartment Maintenance

My refrigerator has been slowly dying all damn week, and I have placed several calls to the office of our apartment complex for them to send a maintenance guy to fix it. But have they yet? No. I even called them last night to tell them we have had to throw food away because the fridge is not keeping it cold enough (a whole gallon of milk curdled, for chrissake!), and all they had to say was, "Okay, we'll see what we can do for ya!"

I stared at the phone in frustration before hanging up. I even got a little irritated at the boyfriend because he isn't as pissed off about this as I am. "You should be angrier about this! This is unacceptable!" I told him. But he's much more laid back and easy-going than I am. So, I left him a note this morning telling him that if they have not fixed the damn fridge by the time he gets home this afternoon, he is to call the office and inform them we will be calling a repair man, and we will be sending them the bill. Maybe that will jumpstart their ass. *grumble grouse snarl*

EDIT: Just a note to let ev'rybooty know I'm open to take one commission. Just one, though. I could say that the reason for this is because I'm so busy with classes and work, and it would be partially true. But also, those of you who have commissioned me know I'm just slow as hell. So, I don't like to take more than one commish at a time.
I'll take the very first one I get, so yeah. Get yours in early. Beat the crowd. All two of them. *cough* See bottom of journal for further info.
Peeve of the day for August 22, 2007: Bible Thumpers.

I know I'll get waylaid for this one, but...

KEEP YOUR RELIGION TO YOURSELF. You can't force people into your way of thinking by shoving it down their throats! Haven't we learned anything from the Crusades?!

Okay. Now let me explain.

I have to take a class in Stillwater this semester, which is about an hour commute. So, I signed up to take the shuttle that the school provides for a "small" fee (*cough$7oneway!cough*) instead of drive, because by the time you figure in gas money, toll money, and parking permit money, taking the shuttle is still cheaper than driving.

So, I sat down in a seat and spread my crap all over the seat next to me so I wouldn't have to share (as a Fat Girl, I don't like to share seats on the bus). The Big Orange Bus (hereinafter, BOB) started to roll away, and I settle in with my book, ready for a comfortable, pleasant ride.

But then, the guy behind me started speaking, and I can't tune him out. He just has one of *those* voices. It carries, and he's talking a little louder than is polite on a bus full of people who are not interested in his conversation. He's talking to the girl sitting next to him, and at first the conversation is typical Stranger On The Bus chatter. But then, he strikes.

"Do you go to church?" he asks her.

I want to get up and move away from the conversation. I want to abandon ship, clear out, get away from this time bomb. But the bus is fairly full, and I can't see another empty seat that I could get to without climbing over somebody.

The conversation behind me starts out innocent enough, and the girl I can tell by what she's saying and how she says it that she's trying to be polite, but she really doesn't want to be talking religion with this guy at 9 in the morning. But the guy is not picking this up, or if he does, he's deemed himself lucky he's found someone who isn't rude enough to tell him she isn't interested, and he presses on, undeterred. And he only gets more and more pushy as the hour bus ride wears on. (Meanwhile, I'm trying my best to ignore the conversation and read my godless heathen fantasy novel, but again... that voice just bombards me and it's hard to focus.)

At one point, I'm pulled completely out of my book when I hear him say, "The Bible... is like a really good can of chili." I'm sure I made a "wtf face." Apparently, he has a Bible study guide of some sort with him. And according to Joe Bible Thumper, "You can't enjoy the chili without the *can opener*!" I hear him thump the book with his hand.

And as an aside, THAT has by far got to be the worst metaphor I ever heard...

I can hear in the girl's voice she's getting frustrated, but she's doing everything she can to remain polite (she's a better woman than I). I want to save her. I want to turn around go, "Dude! Just stop! You can't force your religion on people!" But I'm a coward, because I know that the moment I do, he'll just turn his radar on me, and I don't want that.

The bus ride finally ends. BOB has stopped in front of the student union in Stillwater, and the conversation is finally over. And I need some ibuprofen.

Now before any Christians reading this get up in arms, I understand that part of the religion is bringing people to your God. I understand that. But there are better ways to go about it. The moment you try to shove something down someone's throat, what are they gonna do? Gag. Throw up. If they don't wanna swallow it, they're not going to swallow it, no matter what you do.

*You cannot force people into your way of thinking by simply telling them that everything they believe is wrong.* When has that ever worked? Ever?

Now, to contrast...

It just gets kinna... old. Day after day. Boobs. Ass. Lingerie. Fishnets. Runny mascara. Haunted eyes and pouty lips. We get it.

The human form is a beautiful thing to behold, and I am no one to oppose nude art when the nudity serves a purpose in the piece. Or not! But to me, one nude or kinky lingerie photograph starts to look just like another unless there is some meaning behind it. Especially when they feature at least one bare ass naked chick every damn day.
Now, flame away. Because I know you all have opinions on this.

Peeve of the Day for august 10, 2007: Worthless Comments.

I just viewed a piece of art here, and the entire first page of comments was about... comments. Not a single comment, save the first one, was about the art. They were all about "first comment" comments, of which I have yet to understand the importance. And even that first comment about the art was a single word, "Hilarious," all in caps, and followed by about 13 exclamation points. Which made it pretty worthless, too.

Seriously, if I were that artist, I would get pretty pissed off that my inbox is being flooded, crammed, and spammed with worthless comments that have nothing to do with my art, and that the single one that does have to do with it is not a commentary on the art itself so much as a "LOL this is so funny, and it's affected me on a personal level because it made me laugh, so I should say something, but I really don't have anything worth while to say so I'll just vomit up the first word that comes to mind HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I don't comment on art often, because I'm lazy. And that works for me. If I do comment on art, that means it has really grabbed my attention. It has affected me personally in some way. It has made me react to it which, when you think about it, should be the whole point of displaying art (things like doodles and studies aside). So people will react to it. True art should affect people. It should make them stop and think. What I create and post in my gallery isn't always art. Sometimes (most times) it's just my own doodles and portraits and paid commissions. Things done for my own enjoyment. Things not really meant to reach out and grab the viewer.

But if I put a lot of my soul into a piece of true art, I get kind of irked when someone posts a worthless comment that has no thought put into it. I'd rather you didn't comment at all if all you're going to say is, "BEAUTIFUL!!!!!1!11"

Please, do not misunderstand me. This is not to discourage you from commenting on my art, or any art. But I urge you, implore you: If something has moved you enough to comment on it, reach inside yourself and pull out the words to express why you felt the need to comment. It doesn't even need to be a fully rounded critique. But at least give the artist the satisfaction of knowing how his or her piece affected you. Were you struck by its beauty? Did it disgust you? Could it give you nightmares? Is it an expression of your most secret shame? Or your most elated fantasy? TELL them so. And tell them WHY.

Don't just add to the pages and pages of worthless one-worded comments into which DA seems to be sinking.

Peeve of the Day for July 29, 2007: Coke Zero with... vitamins and... minerals...

Are you shitting me? Diet soda, regardless of the fact that it is diet, is hardly any healthier than regular soda. And trying to make it sound healthy by infusing it with vitamins and minerals? Give me a damn break! That does not make up for the fact that it is a completely unnatural substance and it will never be a healthy alternative to say... water?

Now, I like soda. I don't drink a lot of it, and when I do, I usually do drink diet because regular soda is too sweet for my taste. But I drink a lot more water than I do soda, and I do not kid myself into thinking that the diet soda I drink is healthy. But people will buy it, because society is on this retarded health kick, but instead of drinking water and exercising and eating right? They want results without actually working for them.
No spoilers here, so don't get your panties in a twist.

I just finished HP and the Deathly Hallows, and I gotta say... The first two thirds of that book could have been edited completely out all together. The last third of the book is where all the action takes place, and where virtually all the plot happens. You really needn't bother with the first 500 pages. It really started to annoy, all the hurry up and wait going on.

That being said, everything that I wanted to happen happened, which might have been a bit predictable, but it should be known that the author shouldn't always have to shock and awe the reader with plot twists and turns to make a good story. I think J.K. Rowling did fairly well on this last installment of the series. I probably like it best just for the epilogue. I <3 epilogues.

Now I can finally look at the HP art spewing out my inbox...

On an aside... there is a serious lack of quality Harry Dresden fanart on DA. Must remedy... For those of you unfamiliar with the OTHER wizard named Harry, you can check it out at the author's website: [link]

Peeve of the Day for July 22, 2007: Wide Calf Boots with Skinny Ankles

Most days, I am ever-thankful that the world of fashion is opening its eyes to the fact that not every gal who wants to look good wears a size eight or smaller. Most days, I'm glad that designers are starting to branch out into plus sizes. Most days, I love that there are designers out there now who only make clothes for big girls, and who makes clothes that are fun, sexy, and flattering.

But some days... it's just annoying. I know the fashion industry can't possibly cater to every living human being, since we're all so different, and body types vary like snowflakes (YOU ARE NOT A BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE SNOWFLAKE sorry i channeled tyler durden for a second there), but sometimes... I just want to scream at them:

DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT GIRLS WITH FAT CALVES MIGHT HAVE FAT ANKLES, TOO?

I have a broad bone structure. My wrists are huge, and so are my ankles. i have to buy anklets for bracelets, and most days I can't find anklets that fit. So when designers that make wide calf boots in my size with really skinny ankles... it's just frustrating.

Yeah, you heard me. Harry Potter fans. And I'm not just talking about fans, I'm talking about FANS. Like, OMG I'M QUITTING TEH INTERNETS FOR THE NEXT 5IVE DAYS BECUZ SOMEONE MIGHT LEAK INFORMATION ABOUT THE 7TH BOOK fans. Finding out something about the book early might be annoying, but it's certainly not a tragedy. And it's no reason to go wailing about the injustice of it all.

I heard that the publishers and JKR are suing some distribution service because they messed the dates up and shipped the books out three days early? Is that true? Please, someone tell me it's not true. For the love of Pete... of all the shit to sue somebody over... I also heard some books were shipped to a wrong address. Which, I suppose I can see taking some form of action over that. That's just totally fucking up an order. But suing someone just for shipping early? Why don'cha cry about it...

HERMIONE DIES!!!1!111

Just kidding. I don't know that. I haven't read it yet.

But seriously. Would be wicked if I guessed right, eh? *quiet cackle*

Peeve of the Day for July 16, 2007: People who talk in the theater.

And not just talk. People who behave like monkeys.

Some friends and I went to go see the movie 1408, right? (Good movie by the way. Not so much horror as psychological thriller. Lots of religious undertones and themes, and very, very fun to discuss and analyze. Apparently nothing like the actual short story by Stephen King.) So, we were all set to have a great time watching this movie, but lo and behold. Down in the first three rows was this group of teenagers. There was like 13 of them, and they had spaced themselves out, sitting in groups of two and three, so they took up like the front three rows.

Before the movie started, they were all walking around the theater, giggling and talking, and texting each other (a fad I totally don't get). This didn't bother me so much. It was a little annoying, but the lights hadn't even dimmed yet, so I tried to ignore it. However, when the lights did dim, and the previews started... they didn't quit it. They kept getting up and walking around, switching seats, talking, laughing. Their cell phone lights were very distracting, since they were sitting in the front three rows (I use the term "sitting" very loosely).

However, as much as I enjoy the previews, I know some people don't care about them, so I still tried to ignore their obnoxious behavior.

But when the damn movie started, the actual feature that everybody in that theater had paid eight dollars and fifty cents to see started, and those fucking kids did not SHUT the FUCK UP? Oh, I was livid. They kept on talking, texting, giggling, getting up and walking around the theater.

What the fuck is up with that?? Why don't they just go hang out somewhere else instead of paying to see a movie that they don't fucking watch?!

I cannot stress how much I wished I'd had an Airsoft gun.

SO. In conclusion, when you're at the theater, out of respect for everyone else, SHUT THE FUCK UP.

"That's a gorgeous sunset! Oh wait, that's not the sun setting; it's your birthday cake from fifty miles away!"

Well, on Wednesday, July 4th, I turn 25. And what have I got to show for it?

A wonderful boyfriend
Our own apartment
Two quirky cats whom I love like my children
A group of friends I wouldn't trade for any other
A family that loves me
A truck that's paid off
A laptop computer that's paid off

and

the TRANSFORMERS coming out on MY BIRTHDAY! HA! xD
(I've heard they just screwed it up all to hell, but I'm still gonna go see it...)

Not bad, not bad at all. For a quarter century on this earth, it might not seem like much, but it's a mountain of accomplishments for me. Now I can start focusing on what comes next. Going after all the rest of the things I've always wanted: namely, a job I love (which would be working at a book publishing house). Just a few more semesters in school and I'll have the degree I've been wanting forever (English), and with some luck and some hard work, I'll get there. Hopefully before the next quarter century passes!

So, I finished Elder Scrolls IV the other day. I did it; I beat the game, saved all of Cyrodiil. So... in the deflating aftermath, as I was prancing around enjoying all the fame I was experiencing, I began to wonder... what next? It will be a while before I can get the next expansion. And in the meantime... I have nothing! I... I need a new drug!

Then it occured to me that all my friends have been talking about WoW for like... weeks. That's right. World of Warcrack. I have my new drug. I'm amazed I didn't get into it before now, except that you have to pay to use it. Not bad though. Just fifteen bucks a month. I did have to time the download just right. I downloaded the ten day free trial. And that will put the actual buying of the game after my middle-of-the-month paycheck. Which is better for me, since most of my other bills come out of my first-of-the-month check. And then, I believe when you buy the game, you get another thirty days free.

I did have a little trouble downloading the patches because I have Windows Vista on my new laptop, and Vista is so paranoid, it won't let you do ANYTHING. Well, on the WoW tech support forum, they have a thread that addresses the exact problem I was having, so all's well and good.

For those of you that care, I'm rolling Horde, and I'm playing a Tauren shaman. And I'm all the way up to level FIVE, baby! Boo Yah! xD Yeah, I know. So not a big deal. Leave me my dillusions, plee-az. I go by the name of Lohr, and play on the Coilfang server. Look me up!

Not really.

But I did I register for next semester and found out how long I have till I can get out of this place. I have 36 hours to go, and since I've figured out the hard way that the most hours I seem to be able to handle per semester (while still working) is nine, that leaves me stuck doing two more years at Folsom.

Gah, I want to be done with school so bad. *twitch*
