Secondly its the new Noah's Ark 2009 calendars which used all my photos this year! Heres the post from My site

As i posted earlier the 2009 calendar is finally out and I finally managed to get my hands on a copy. The design is the same as last year's with each month featuring a rescued/re homed dog with his/her story printed on the back. Each picture can be torn out to be used as a post card as well

I'm pretty glad with the outcome this year and its also the first year that the photos are all my own. I've been unable to post any of the pics (taken since may!) cause they wanted to keep it a secret. Well now that its finally out I'll start posting some pictures from the 200+ odd library I accumulated for them. Without futher ado here are some quck snaps of the calendar itself.

Oh lookie a rare update.. I'm not much for journals so heres a quick summary of what happened since the last one.

1. Semester break ended
2. Lots of projects
3. Thinking about getting serious about doing photography
4. Made a facebook page for my photography services.
5. More projects and exams soon

On a happy note, NANAS calendars managed to all sellout all 5000 copies for the first time ever! So yea nice to know it made a difference. Now it means we gotta get a calendar of equal or better quality next year

~cat-crazy has been bugging me write a new journal entry for awhile now so here we go.

University life has been crazy with so many tests and projects coming up leaving me with not much time to take photos and spend it petting ^{_{my pet}} who incidentally has started taking photos too. You can view some of her latest works here:

Noah's Ark Companion Animal Rescue and Education Society has released their 2008 Calendar. I'm glad to say they used my images for the coverpage and 7 out of 12 of the months

Whoa I haven't been updating this thing in a loong time. Anyway I just had a hectic 2 weeks running around taking photos with the bulk of them being done over the weekend. Hopefully some of these photos will be used for the NANAS 2008 calendar.

I've also changed my handphone to the relatively old SE K800i and I really love the camera for its size. The best part of it has to be the panorama stitching. I know several compacts have this feature too but having it on a handphone makes it convenient to carry around. Plus the 1gb m2 card that I added means I probably wont run out of space anytime soon..

OK so the image quality is not fantastic but its still pretty fun.

This semester's exams are finally over

This break will be pretty busy with a few clients to shoot for as well as a few courses that I might be helping out with. I am not looking forward to the results though

On a slightly sadder note ~cat-crazy has gone to the UK for most of the month so its gonna be a little lonely here. I guess I will have to keep myself distracted for now. (looking forward to Christmas so I can open your gift though)

I'm going to try and get more stuff uploaded but thats not a promise. My flickr stream will get updated more often.

After some bugging from

it looks like I am overdue for a journal update. As you may or may not have know I recently did a small photo booth at the recent SKC Dogshow. After a rather tiring 6 hours of continuous customers

~cat-crazy and I managed to raise about $393 to help out NANAS so hooray for us

I have also donated some pictures to ACRES during thier recent Free to be Wild fund-raiser road show. Happy to say all the 6 shots I donated got sold if not that would have been mighty embarrassing

With the exams round the corner I'm getting pretty worried with all the studying I need to catch up with. I always hate this period but I guess that's uni life. I'm glad I have HER with me though

Can't wait for all this to be over as I have a major back-log of clients to shoot for as well.

I have no idea what love is but i think

Its been the most eventful 3 months of my life, begining with me having doubts about how to handle a relationship. She was there to guide me along (kinda likea dog on a leash but the walk was good

) and show me what I have been missing all this while. I've learnt that love is more give than take but what you get back is priceless.

Its been a very enventful holiday for me. From working fulltime at an animal shelter for 2+ months has kept my occupied and helped finance my DLSR purchases. I have also started freelancing for my pet portrature and have cleared about 3 cleints so far with a few more to go.

The most eventful one would be

who seems to be wierd enough to actually like me

Its been a wonderful 2+ months and I hope it lasts though the hectic school year and beyond.

We both went to the zoo where i rented a 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS just to see if i liked the lens

Its a heavy SOB but the IS is a real lifesaver. Wide open its a little soft and the push-pull style zoom can take getting used to since it changes the center of gravity. Still its a great lens although i would like to get my hands on a 300/4 IS and 1.4X TC to test too

Wow its really been awhile since I've updated this thing. Well just so you know my exams were over about 3 weeks ago and I have since went for intensive photography immersions

Been shooting alot lately but most of the updates are off DA. You can find some of the picutres over at my flickr site .

I have since added a 430ex flash and 70-200 f/4 to my camera

and cant wait to fully use the new lens. Oh yea and positive film is seriously addictive... some shots from a recently developed roll of Provia 100f can be seen here.

Wont have much time to shoot in the next two months though because I have a part time job

I got employed as a kennel assistant at a shelter/boarding kennel. Its a 9 hour per day / 6 day a week job so

Pay is pretty low but the job satisfaction makes it all worth while.

Its nearing the time of the semester exams again and the workload is piling up as usual. As of now i have one term paper and 2 assigments due next week

Its gonna be busy for me till the early weeks of May.

Most of the money that was owed to me has been paid back giving me a nice tidy sum and its tempting me to buy camera stuff again

I guess I should learn to save it up but its a itch I can't scratch.

One perk was last weekend where I loaned out a 300D and went up to an Animal Sanctuary to do take pictures for thier 2007 calendar. I put the camera through over 300 shutter counts but ended up with only about 120 usable shots. They have requested I not most most of the pics online yet but I can grant a small sneak preview here As you can see the 10 acre compound offers alot fo space for the 300+ dogs to run around and just be themsleves

I apologise for my absense on d@mn due to reasons above and will try to get on more often asap. Meanwhile if you want to see what i was up to with the SPCA just bookmark [link] and you will see my updates there

Come Closer

Been really busy with uni work and other commitments lately and only recently had a short break. Spent sunday and monday at the Singapore Zoo photographing african wild dogs for a project. ended up with alot more pics which I may post later.

Became semi active in the SPCA and another welfare organisation agian and the SPCA has expressed intrest in making some of my pictures into shirts

Ah yes and now the part you;ve all been waiting for. I got taged by =ladyr

so here goes....

15(to 12) years ago
Just started primary school back then and realised that I sucked really bad at Mandrin classes (compulsory) which made my teacher not like me much. I could pretty much ace the rest of the stuff but because of my bad handwriting and lack or intrest in mandrin did get into trouble a little. Highlights then were learning how to swim and hanging out at my mom's friends house whose kids became MY firends too. We spent lots of time playing make believe and most of the time i would try something cazy and either break something or get injured causing my mom to go beserk... fun times though. one vivid memory was when i stayed over and ther was a buglary! Thankfully no one was hurt and not much was missing (they used a glass cutter to break a pane and a pole to fish the keys which were on the table!) It was after then they got a rottwellier which i spent quite a bit of time with.

10 years ago
Last year of primary school and the year was a pressure fille done as we had to sit for a exam which would determine the secondary school we could go to. I learnt how to roller blade last year and spent lots of time doing that with another friend. The rottwellier gave birth to pups which i did help to take care of a bit(more like play with) and it was an experence which i wont forget. This memory was pushed back when the exam period drew near and had to concentrate on studies. My fondness for dog would only resurface MUCH later...

5 years ago
Seconddary education was just over and i didnt do that spetacularly. Still did get into Junior colledge and as it was a pretty relaxed environment didnt help push me as much i i shloud have

Still it was during these 2 years that i made plenty more new firends and found some old ones back. My mandrin teacher here was a very hardworking lady and she was one of the few teachers we wold acutally do homework for

(ok so i was a bad student) It was only during the next year that we realsed that our next exam was on 11 months and really started working harder...found out about DA while prosing around for new 3d wallpapers..

2 years ago
I had had to serve National Serivce and enlisted in December 12th 2002. By now i was midway though my Army life and was vocated as a dog trainer. It was during this time that that old buried memory re-surfaced. This was a time where my intrestes changed and i started to really question what kind of job I would want in the future. It was also duirng this year i started my driving lessons in April

Learning to drive in Singapore is both expensive and time consuming but i managed to get my licence in december after failing the test once..Da wise became more active and was made a MN@

I'd leave the mac hooked up to a 30inch apple cinema display with a 7.1 surround system for video and image apps. The pc would go in the living room and i'd hook it up to a Frikin big LCD TV with a nice home theater system. Get bluetooth keyboards and mice and have gaming and Home movies.

Theres be another room with sound proof walls and a clear glass wall ,also sound proofed (i'm rich anything can be done) over a forest where i can listen to my music in peace. There will be blinds on the wall just for privacy sake. Porblably a Kickass sound system to go with it too.

My term is about to begin again and I have taken up a job as a Student Assistant not much working hours but the pay is decent and the felxbility of the sheduling is a real plus point.

Shelter news

On a happier note from the Shelter I volunteer at, one of the long time residents Toffee has finally found a home

I'm so happy for her as she has been staying at the shelter for over 15 months

I hope her new family shows her the love she needs after spending most of her young life at the shelter. Gonna miss her though

I just got back from the AVA(Agri Food and Vetinary Authority)'s Resposible Pet ownership roadshow. Many animal welfare orgnaisations and the local capter of the Kennel Club were at hand to educate the public as well as promote thier own causes. I was there to help out with the NANAS (Noah's Ark Natural Animal Sancutary) and tkae care of a pup called Charlie. It was a pretty tiring day but at least me managed to find foster homes for a few dogs

Some Personal Stuff

Not much going on in my personal life. Just trying to cope with the university work load and stuff, I really dont like the pace of work in the second half of the semester

Ah well at least i got the weekly dog outing sessions with the shelter to look forward too

In a few weeks time i will be heading out to the Noah Ark Animal Santurary in JB, Its a huge place where they rescue stray animlas of all kinds and they even have a boarding service. The only slight drw back is its across the border in Malaysia, will problalby eat some seafood there since its much cheaper

The last 48 hours has been emotionaly taxing for me as i had to say goodbye to one of my best companions for the last 16 months.

As some of you may know I am serving my National Service as a Dog Trainer. I leaenrd not too long ago that my dog was about to be 'retired' from service due to age-related joint problems that would cause himt to limp after extened hours of walking. It was not serious but serious enough for him to be considered 'non-operational'. Unfortunately retired guard dogs are not eligible for adoption due to certain military regulations. Thus he was sheduled to be put down on the 27^th of Januray 2005.

I personally do not approve of this policy as i find it a total waste of life espically when the dog can be re-socailised or put in a reitrement shelter. I guess the militray view them as assets that are disposed of after they have out-lived thier usefulness.

I spent the last 48 hours making sure he was as happy as can be and do hope that he is happier wherever he is now.

Ashundar Community Resource Pack
Following the success of the last Community Resource Pack that was released on the 14th of march in 2004, the Ashundar staff have decided that a sequel was in order.

Thus I am proud to announce that Second Community Resource Pack is now open for contributions. I will be accepting your submissions beginning on the 4th of June, 2004. For more information on how to contribute to the pack please read the submission rules. I will be keen to see what the Terragen community has to share.

Ashundar ScreenSaver
As we all know the upcoming V3 is still in the works. Some time ago we asked the community what they'd like to see on the new site and there were several great suggestions. One of those was an Ashundar Screensaver, and we're pleased to be able to launch the first of these quarterly endeavors today. This launch also marks the beginning of Ashundar's Projects, a title under which many exciting new Ashundar ventures will be launched. Stay tuned for more soon.

This project is open to all Terragen community members. This first screensaver will be freestyle, with no set theme, so feel free to create whatever your heart desires. Approximately 20 images will be selected for inclusion in the finished product. Each of you may enter up to 3 images (huge news to those who can't decide which is their best work!!!

As we all know the upcoming V3 is still in the works. Some time ago we asked the community what theyd like to see on the new site and there were several great suggestions. One of those was an Ashundar Screensaver, and were pleased to be able to launch the first of these quarterly endeavors today. I just got back form some exercise in camp and am pretty tired. It dont help much when i saw the 80+ dev wating for me though so that took awhile. Lately i've stopped doing TG stuff die to time constraints but i just may make one for ashundar's latest contest. More on that later.

Okie serveral things have happened over at Ashundar. First our host kinda got hacked again so we decided to change toa new one so hopefully this one dosent suffer from the same problems. Our christmas entries are out for voting, and January's theme is "Fake Or Photo?" more detrails on both HERE .

First off my apologies to *machine-guts i couldn't wait to release it any longer i'll promise i'll get my half done soon.

Over at Ashundar The Colours of christmas contest has now closed for submissions and you can vote for your favorite entires!. Also be sure to check out the winners of Novembers contest.

Well i just had christmas dinner last night and boy am i stuffed. I had Foccacia bread, aspragus with smoked salmon, lots of turkey and ham, Mashed potatoes with bacon, some sautee'd mushrooms, buttered rice, cheesecake and to top it off tiramisu and a cup of tea. That was followed by around 7+ shots of Cordon Bleu in the after donner drinks. Needless to say i had a very full christmas.

Presents wise it was rooudn the same as last year but my sister got me a very inresting prezzie. Its a book called The Book of Bunny Suicides by Andy Riley. Its a litle morbid but humourous all the same. Or maybe i'm just wierd.

Recenty i've also stumbled across an animation thats currently in preproduction and needs animators/storyboard artists. So pop on by Wolf and have a peek.

The uneven ground combined with the drizzle and low light conditions led to me taking one step out the shelter then the next second....my righy foot found the hole causing me to lose balance the falling face first into the wet grass. As i fell i felt my ankle cracking or stretching or whatever. This was followed by me lying there face forst in the wet grass unable to get up as it hurt like crazy. Fast forward 4 hours...............

In the barack i took off my boots to find that it had swolle mostrously large yea and it really hurt. Luckyly my father was around to send me home as i dont think i coul have made my won way back in that condidion. Anyways its all better now as i have been using some medicated plaster contaiing ketoprofen. Its suppoesed to aid the regenrative process and yea it works. from badly swollen to normal walking in 2 days despite cxonstsnt activity.

2 of our female dogs came on and off heat. I'm glad they are off as its a pain to manage the male dogs when they are on. Theres also a puppy here called Warrior. Hes a real badass and is none too friendly even with dogs 3 times his size.

There was also a short dog attack and i happened to be directly involved. As i was moving my dog(Nelson) from the grooming area, the teher chian holding another dog boke (we dont know how that happened since its made of the kinda metal wire used to lock bicycles) and it made a rush for my dog. Its a good thing the other dogs trainer was there to pull him away but my dog suffered a bite to the upper back. Amazing thing was he dint get injured. The only thing that was bitten of was a big clump of fur. Guess having thick fur helps even if it is a pain to groom. After that my dog dint really want to eat lunch and was quite shaken. Well i cant blame him cause hes 7 years old.

Ok thats enough rambling for now. I'll try to submit stuff soon so expect something in 2 weeks or so. Oh yea and i want my siganture back.

It died early thursday morning @0500+0800GMT form an unfortunate condition called gastric tortion. This is a condition where the stomach twists itself up so bad that it casues blockage near the esophagus, symtoms are chracterized by the swelling of the abdomen. The unfourtunate animal will often try to induce vomiting to relieve pressure but more often than not its fatal if not tended to immediately.

This dog had already survived one round and had undergone emergency sugery. So its chances were slim that it would survive a second round.

Well thats all for now but heres wising DA happy 3rd Birthday.
