This site is too low to brose for me, lately. Moreover I need to delete my entire gallery from time to time and it's too hard to do it here (four clicks for each picture!).
I will be around here to watch your new works, anyway.

I'll post my very very new photos here [link]

Don't wonder why I so rarely comment on your stuff lately. I hardly succeed in opening the devian message page and I'm able to watch your wonderful and minuscule thumbnails in the devwatch list. Prudently sometimes I click on one of them and I wait one or two minutes (MINUTES) to admire the prewiew...and then I should click another time to view the full resolution, waiting another minute or two. This last thing happens so rarely that I can remember all the full-resolution pics I watched the last two months. And I have a rather fast internet connection.
It's not a pleasure for me to browse devianArt, unfortunately. Hope something good will happen soon.

Toshio Shibata, a man who knows what he want.

Once again browsing photographic books and photographer's web-sites I discover some photos very similar to one of mine.
Why?
A. I have a great talent and the similarity of my photos to the
great photographer's one is the undoubtable proof

or
B. I'm lacking of originality and I have not my own style. So my photography is just a modest and boring allusion to the great works of past and present great and famous photographers

or
C. The photography language (and rules) is universal, in different times and different cultures, then is quite natural to find a close similarity with the others works

The right one? Do I have to be glad or sad?

Some thoughts about photography, inspired by an interesting and stimulating discussion with a deviant:

1. It's not necessary to be a Photographer and to write it on your identity document (Michelangelo Buonarroti was firts of all an excellent master mason, but also a great designer, painter and sculptor. Unfortunately the photography was not yet invented at his time ). But if you use that media you have to respect the rules (or to contradict them if you want to be 'original'). Also 'scientific photography' or 'social photography' or 'aerial photography' or any other kind of photography have to do it.
I think you agree with me that if you want to write something, even if not 'great literature', just a chronicle for example, you have to use the right grammar and the right words with the exact meaning. But if you use also an excellent language and style anyone can appreciate better your simple chronicle.

2. The favourite subjects of a famous photographer, HC Bresson, are the people. His photos are famous as photos 'a la sauvette' (french term), that means 'quickly' and also 'furtively'. Notwithstanding the many difficulties of this kind of photography, this photographer is a Master of composition and he has an excellent technique. His work has also a deep social (and philosophical, if you want) meaning, further the simple show of the subject.
Robert Capa, one of the best 'war photographer', created some great pieces of art while the bullets whizzed all around.
The 'composition' for a photographer is not merely a technique, it is an instinct.

3. Architectural Photography is the first genre that appeared in photography, just because of the stillness of the buildings. The exposure time was very long with the daguerrotype, at the origin. Architectural photography is a very slow and meditative genre, especially when you use the tripod, and it is an excellent exercice to transform the ‘technique’ (or ‘rules’) of Composition into an ‘istinct’.
It needs a good sensibility to appreciate Architectural photography. Usually, in my experience, I find this sensibility in the people who has an interest and an involvement in the figurative arts in general, or a particular interest for forms and lines. Especially the ones who are involved in any sort of abstract art. And the architects, of course. I know it’s easier to catch the interest of the public and friends with picture of strange things, bizarre guys, nudes and so on.
Well, I can say that I prefer to excite myself with Mozart instead of Techno music.

5. Last week in Paris I bought a book by Eugene Atget (1857-1927). I skim it every day with an evident interested expression on my face. Watching at his photographs I wonder how much the urban landscapes had changed their looks in a few years. I recognize some places and I can see the different use of the urban space today that reflects the new life style of the citizens, day by day more vulgar. I can meditate about the orrible presence of the cars in our epoch, which steal day by day our vital space in the city, and give a ugly aspect to the ancient squares and streets. I can appreciate the difference between the old and the new signs, bigger , enormous and alwais screaming. I can find a deep poetry in those pictures, they moves me: I tink it’s the passed time (10 year are enough) that adds this mood.
And I wonder how much are similar to those the photos of a present-day, famous and appreciated, italian architectural photographer, Gabriele Basilico.
At last I think about the revolutionary photography of Moholy-Nagy, of the early 20s, and I think about how could be trasnformed so quickly into a clichè his angled-over expressive-exaggerated photography style. This is the cost of the desired originality, probably.

4. I think that people on the street need a better respect. I use often people in my photography, but they are not the main subject of the picture. Usually I try to show the relationship between people and the things all around us, especially in the urban scenery. I think a guy needs his privacy even if he is obliged to walk on the public street to go to the market to buy something for the dinner.

Any thought, disagree or contribute to mine are welcome.
