Next year is my last, and I FINALLY get to focus on what I've been interested in all along - character design, with a minor in illustration. One entire class is even dedicated to the gaming industry, with a lot of guest speakers coming in from Bioware. Joy! However, I'm not sure how I'll do (some of the people in my class are amazing... beyond professional level already). Ah well, here goes nothing.

Got Jak 3 on Wednesday night, beat it on Saturday (and that's only because I spent too much time with my friends and at Sean's, haha.) The ending makes my brain explode, yes it does.

My Lineage II account expires next week. 1.5mil adena sword goes to Lu, 2mil worth of equipment goes to my clan. Lu's also taking care of my dragon hatchling, Neven. ;_; Maybe I'll try PKing someone before I leave, haha...
Then I start World of Warcaft on the 23rd. c_c Hoorah for Blizzard, I'll be able to play it on my spiffy, technologcally-superior Mac!! I've already played the open beta some, it's great. If you see an Undead named Famine running around a PvP server, that just might be me. XD (I'm the third horseman of the apocalypse. MWAHA!)

I may post some projects in the near future - a self portrait from Anatomy and a perspective assignment from VisPro - as they are actually small enough to scan. Oh the excitement!!

I'm buying a set of 48 Prisma markers on Monday, as they are required. I also have to buy a Mac laptop. Oooh, and Adobe Design Suite, which normally retails for $580CAN... however, the school got a bulk deal on it (AFTER two people in my class already bought the software!!!) and I can get it for $202. ROCK ON. The Mac laptop also comes with a $250-off-an-Ipod coupon. ROCK ROCK ON!

My parents were having a party, or something, but I was so mad at them (and they at me) that I retreated to a snow fort in the pasture. Seeing how it's March, it had been largely reduced to slush and mud. As the sun set, I picked up a shovel and attempted to fix the fort. I happened to glance towards the house and I saw my dad pointing Wesley Crusher, in full Star Trek uniform, in my direction. He stalked over and demanded I give him back his "ambassador coin". He was rather angry, so I agreed to give it back to him. I ran back to my room whilst Mr. Crusher continued my work on the snow fort.
I searched through my (oddly empty) drawers, and eventually found a coin. It seemed kind of thick, though, so I tried to pry it apart. Sure enough, it seperated - it was actually a container for clear lip gloss! On the inside was an inscribed logo... that of the Secret Amway Ninjas. I gasped. Wesley Crusher was a Secret Amway Ninja!

Suddenly, I found myself in a hall of super heroes - Batman, Superman, Major Glory et al were present. They all turned to stare at me and the coin/lip gloss in my hand. I gulped. I was holding the membership lip gloss coin of the Secret Amway Ninjas, the sworn enemy of everyone in sight!

Hum de do! I happily transferred out of my Media Arts & Digital Technologies class today. It just isn't my thing. I signed up for it way back in July, not really knowing what it was about. I've since discovered that it's a lot of video and audio art, and about as " artsy" as you can get. I'm certainly not saying this is a bad thing, it's just not for me. xD Unfourtunately I still couldn't get into Jewelery and Metals, so I signed up for Sculpture instead. Should be fun!

I'm going to a provincial computer animation competition on the 13th and 14th. I get to miss school for it. Mwahaha.

The latest I'll know whether I've been accepted into art college or not is June 15th... I hope I know sooner, as the portfolio deadline for my second choice is June 10th and it'd be great if I didn't have to do it... ;

I graduate in a few weeks. o_o;

Wow. Sometime early this morning I got my 2000th pageview. Sometime last week I got my 50th devstalker. I continue to be amazed. So, then, why do I draw furries?

When I started, it was because I was a big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog. I started drawing Tails, Sonic & Knuckles. Then came fanfiction, and then on came my own characters. This was before I'd discovered the Sonic and furry communities on the internet - I didn't even have a modem at the time. None of my friends read the Sonic comic. No one I knew could even tell me what gender Tails was.

When I got the internet, I continued to draw furries because my online friends did. Although I didn't know them very well, I was especially inspired by two ladies who went by the names of Mara-Re and Cyber the Hare. I kept on drawing, even though I sucked, because I wanted to be as good as they were someday. I joined Side7 to show off my art. I sucked back then, very very badly. I was, after all, a 13-year-old who'd just started drawing. I still got the occasional comment, though, and that inspired me to KEEP TRYING. And y'know what? I started to get better.

Then my school put me in art class, although I hadn't signed up for it. I found that my slight skill at drawing furries transferred to any type of drawing. This inspired me to try more traditional art forms.

As I entered high school, I chose to continue art classes. I kept on drawing furry characters. I kept on improving in all aspects of art. Figure drawing in art class helped me learn anatomy, and I transferred that to my furry drawings. Art class helped me see just how many wonderful forms of art there are.

I don't draw furries because I think they're sexy. I don't draw furries because I'm attracted to animals. I draw furries because I think it's fun. There are so many more ways you can customize a character than you can with humans. I draw furries in my spare time. It helps me relax and vent my emotions.

And Y'KNOW WHAT? I still do traditional art. In fact, I'm applying to a couple art colleges this month. Are there gonna be furry drawings in my portfolio? Heck, no. I have never, ever spent as much time on a furry drawing as I have on, say, a painting, and I probably never will. I do traditional art to improve myself. I draw furry art to entertain myself.

Yes, deviantART is full of 12-year-olds that can barely draw a straight line, yet submit five new furry drawing a day. I'm not saying I'm any better. If it were easier for me to take pictures of my traditional-media artwork you'd see more of that than of my furry art, but that isn't the case. My point is that, if they keep on drawing, these 12-year-olds will get better. They'll branch out into other forms of art. At some point in their lives, every artist at deviantART sucked. But with encouragement, these people grew as artists.

Furry art is not the only art I do anymore, although it once was. Furry art was the door that lead me to my decision to become some sort of artist. I draw furries for FUN, and for no other reason.
